I found a brand new in boxes white Marshall Custom anniversary JCM1 mini stack(head + 2 10" cabs). The store had it in storage for a few years and forgot it was there, then Covid shut them down. It looks so cool and sounds fantastic. Just like a full size but good for home use. 1watt is pretty damn loud into 2 speakers.
Love the settings. Dime volume, dime gain if it has it. I have the JCM, it's awesome. Play it through a big cab and it sounds great and you don't even notice it's actually pretty loud.
@HearingLossProvider Hi again, yes the very first amp that was sold was bought by Pete Townsend from the Marshall shop in Hanwell West London but that was the only involvement that JM had at the time.
Thank you, Rebecca! I have been waiting for this review since I first saw the promotional material on the 1 watt celebration series, and they don't disappoint!
I saw Chris George last night playing the new Marshall Custom Offset 1-watt.. using the small 10 inch cab that comes with it, mic'd through the PA, and it was easily loud enough. Cut through perfectly.
@pabdiary I say it's a smart move for Marshall or rather Korg. These little amps offer most of the features of the 50 and 100 watt heads for the guys who like to record with tube amps on their desktops. So there is money to be made there, and I do record and thought the jtm sounded pretty close to the one I use to have.
@brw0044 Indeed! Valve amps are not complex to build. Since labor is the main cost factor, DIY brings great value. You get the advantage of learning about amps in the process, can repair or modify them yourself. Also, you can use better quality components to reduce noise & increase reliability. It used to be hard to find schematics. Now they are floating around the net by the score.
@tatsandteles none taken! still i wanted to suggest you a simple comparison between two combos, both uk made: take the jtm1 (£559) and the cornford harlequin (£749). compare features, prices and construction. you'll see the difference is way larger than those 190£, in favor of the cornford imho.
At least we have the DSL 1 out there in the market, brand new! I'm planing to buy one... I just have to decide if I buy a 2x12 or 4x12 for it... They are the same price online nowadays, it's for bedroom practice and stuff, but I heard that 4x12 is too "microphonic" sort of, so We have to stay far away from the cabinet a little bit... I don't know... I'm going to buy the head and take it with Les Paul of mine to any GC around here, test it and go from there.. but thanks for the review and inspiration!
@HearingLossProvider Hi what i said is that Marshall was not formed in 1962 but in 1963. I was one of the first guys along with Ken Bran and Dudley Craven that made the first JTM45 as it is known today, this was before JM was commercially involved. Marshall have got the year wrong and if any one wants proof they only have to ask as i can provide it, but so far my comments only get ignored by Marshall.
@Enduran91 Depends on the gig obviously, but I would say not. I have the 1w Blackstar and it really doesn't cut it for me. But in the bedroom or the studio, wow oh wow.
ya,I guess your right but I haven't had a chance to compare the two amps.Maybe Marshall is just trying to keep up with the changes seen this year with the smaller amps.I'm very impressed with the 5150 50 watt it has better versatility than amps I have that cost me way more cash.
As a Marshall Addict and tube amp lover who is unnaturally obsessed lunch box style amps I want all of these guys, oh man its painful when can I get em!
@FuneralFragz Uh.... This isn't all they're doing this year. They also have the Gold Jubilee, 2203BLS, and the Satch JVMs. Maybe even some stuff we don't even know about yet.
@KEPHALLE I guess I have to agree, although it IS a UK made amp and the import costs run the price up. I wish they would have at least given it a sort of 'power scaling' option. I love the sound of cranked Marshalls, but you can't play them to saturation without killing people. These sound 'right' at cranked level, but exactly what are these being marketed for? Bedroom practicing? Studio miking? I wish they would design a 6V6 based amp you could rip on at gig level.
I have to say, I thought these were going to be 20-watters like a lot of manufacturers have been doing lately. Still sound amazing for 1 watt though. Looking forward to the gear reviews to come.
the ironic reality is the lower the watts the better the tone! These thing sound just unreal cool its just so hard to explain to your non-player friends that you just spent $800 on a 1 watt amp!
@okamasphere They have pretty much the same preamp circuit. You can tell when he's playing them through the 4x12 that they got themt as close as the 100w versions as they could in that wattage.
I know that feel man. Sometimes I think I don't like overdrive/distortion at all. I think the issue is that we're sick of listening to guitars with no backing track (no second guitar, bass, drums, vocals). Those really make the difference between dull power chords and a nice song, espeacially the vocals.
There you go, Marshall! One of the better ideas you've had in several years! These amps look great... but is it sad the thing I'm coveting most is the 50-yr-old whiskey?? :/ lol If that's a Scotch, I guarantee you it's worth more than the amps!
@TheCollisionofworlds yeah true, its a matter of personal preference, im not much of an orange fan except for the rockerverb series. yes, i love blackstar, but mesa boogie or peavey would be my favourite brand, like i've loved every blackstar ive tried but at the end of the day i'd still rather buy a 5150 or 6505 than a series one.
They're actually less expensive than I expected... the JTM1 head is actually 565€ (~$750) here in France.. For a UK-made handwired amp that price isn't exagerrated at all.
@KenG3SDW : Hey guy's. Ken is the real deal. I know him from the forums and he was there in the beginning. He has shared a lot of cool information over the last few years.
Ok.. After I've bought all the TonePros parts for my Gibson LP, I'm gonna start saving money for the Marshall JMP1C.. It's really expensive, but it's all worth the money... I hope..
Brilliant idea...legendary amp tones in small, affordable packages!! My only question is WHY in the world would you take such a brilliant idea and make it "limited." In today's economy, there's a total market for this!!! All a guitarist needs is their guitar, one of these babies, & a mic (to mic these "1 watters" into the P.A.), and they're ready to gig anywhere with mint, classic tones. Such a shame it's limited, what's Marshall thinking?
too bad all the cool stuff is only available in limited editions... The Bluesbreaker is a classic. If you finally got that one right it sure deserves to be available permanently.
perfect idea no tone controls just have volume a gain and simal class switch so eq is unity accross board ojn front gain master vol and tone control only three pots on all
@zonk391 Exactly. I worked on a bunch of arena shows last year with a band running Orange Tiny Terror amps on half power. That's 7.5W. They sounded great. Never once did anyone complain they weren't loud enough. This was in indie band, so hardly lounge jazz. Most guitar amps are just too loud. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want a 100W guitar amp. Its just stupid. I bet a 1W amp would be plenty for most stages. Would like to hear these things for real...
I think it's a pretty sweet idea. It's like a sample of the real amp. If they go easy on the price, they might sell a ton of this things. But if the price is around 500 dollars like a I read in the coments, then orange, soldano and blackstar will keep beating marshall's ass with their lower wattage amps.
make the all marshall head as jim asked i desined it. but dock set the eq internal mate just have tone master and gain por and the class switch from 50/40/30/25/12.5 watts on it all needs the settings are standars they all use simplify it make it look like jmp head call it the marshall master head

The JTM sounded the best to me. Perfect Marshall tone.
Why cant they just sell these all the time. Guarantee they would be there number one seller.
LMerchant01 Right?!?!?
Damn! Why was Rebecca's reign so brief...why? She is the best gear interviewer ever.
pregnant
the JTM1 and JCM800 sounded amazing.
I can attest that.
Love the settings. Dime volume, dime gain if it has it. I have the JCM, it's awesome. Play it through a big cab and it sounds great and you don't even notice it's actually pretty loud.
I want the JCM800 1watt! Seem to sound best to my ears so far.... Hope it makes it to Singapore...
That JMP 1 just drips with 70s Marshall Awesomeness...
And I missed that series from Marshall!!!
the JCM 800 sounds fantastic!
I saw Chris George last night playing the new Marshall Custom Offset 1-watt.. using the small 10 inch cab that comes with it, mic'd through the PA, and it was easily loud enough. Cut through perfectly.
JCM sounds immense!
GREAT JCM800!
Waiting for the JVM though...
that girl is GORGEUS!!!!! I want HER doing all the reviews!!!!
that JMP sounds killer with the boost engaged!
I just got the JCM.
Terrific amp for home and studio!
TERRIFIC!!
i missed Rebecca, glad shes back!!!
The 800 sounds absolutely killer
Sound damn cool... Dig the look of the JTM1... nice they got a guy to demo them that can actually play too...
that JMP is the best little amp i ever heard! wow! gotta get one of those!
@pabdiary I say it's a smart move for Marshall or rather Korg. Met him a couple of weeks ago where he did a Clinic with Doug Aldrich through Marshall!
Really cool guy and a beast of a guitar player!!
@brw0044

Very very impressed with these tones
I Miss You SO MUCH Rebecca!!!!
as long as you mic it you really can gig with anything.
@tatsandteles none taken! still i wanted to suggest you a simple comparison between two combos, both uk made: take the jtm1 (£559) and the cornford harlequin (£749). compare features, prices and construction. you'll see the difference is way larger than those 190£, in favor of the cornford imho.

Loves me some JMP crunch!!!
I like the gritty sound of the JMP 1.
OH that lil JMP1 is callin me! really incredible tone from that little thing!
@HearingLossProvider Hi what i said is that Marshall was not formed in 1962 but in 1963. That first little head he played through Flat Out ROCKED !
@Enduran91 Depends on the gig obviously, but I would say not. I have the 1w Blackstar and it really doesn't cut it for me. But in the bedroom or the studio, wow oh wow.
something that i thought was cool was how the 1watt amps have an fxs loop! i cant wait to play one of these babies! :D
I really dig these little things
ya,I guess your right but I haven't had a chance to compare the two amps.Maybe Marshall is just trying to keep up with the changes seen this year with the smaller amps.I'm very impressed with the 5150 50 watt it has better versatility than amps I have that cost me way more cash.

@DMSProduktions as far as I'm concerned, if it gets the point across it doesn't matter how many people say it or who said it first.
@robstl314 1 watt is still pretty loud. connect the head to a 4x12 and whack a couple of pedals in front and it could reach gigging volume.
Rebecca you are the best !!!
love your interviews.
hope to meet you one day.
jmp1 with boost switch engaged is a dream - a sexy dream starring rebbeca dirks :))
@FuneralFragz
Uh....

That 60's replica head sure sounds balls-out gnarly for a 1-watt amp!
I own it.
I'm no longer looking for gear.
Great sounding amps!
Great playing!
WHY DID I BUY A CLASS 5!? I really want one of these!
the ironic reality is the lower the watts the better the tone! These thing sound just unreal cool its just so hard to explain to your non-player friends that you just spent $800 on a 1 watt amp!

Why does marshall have to pull this limited edition bullshit. I want one so much!
Nearly every guitarist on the planet wants to buy one.
They're actually less expensive than I expected... the JTM1 head is actually 565€ (~$750) here in France.. For a UK-made handwired amp that price isn't exagerrated at all.
@TheOrderoftheOwl ya but, look at voxs price compared to marshalls, not to mention with the vox head you get 3 more watts
Hi can you tell me according to you which is the best screen 4 x 12 or 2 x 12 Marshall 50th Anniversary JMP1-C for thanks
@TheOrderoftheOwl Thats why you buy the hand wired Jet City amp that sounds just like a cranked marshall modded. =)
That's some mighty fine blues guitar
@KenG3SDW : Hey guy's. Ken is the real deal. I know him from the forums and he was there in the beginning. He has shared a lot of cool information over the last few years.
i hear they are coming out with a wrist watch and an in-ear model next year how cool is that?
@okamasphere Oh, U JELLY BRO???
Thanks for the demos! They all sounded fantastic! I want that JMP 1!
@MrPaolo101 YOU GET THE FUCKING PICTURE! Finally, someone who understands how I feel...
Fuck I want that JCM in combo form! What a fucking cool little amp!
Ok.. After I've bought all the TonePros parts for my Gibson LP, I'm gonna start saving money for the Marshall JMP1C.. It's really expensive, but it's all worth the money... I hope..
'A great display of little heads!' Well said Rebecca ;-)
leetle JCM 800 rockin hard.
RIP, Jim Marshall.
Where is the Jubilee/Custom Tube Series that preceded the JCM 900?
Ooooh, I just noticed that the DSL-1 and the JVM-1 will have some tricky things. I just can't live without effects loop.
I believe everyone was waiting such a move from Marshall. After Class 5 it was expected.... Nice sounds afterall.
Brilliant idea...legendary amp tones in small, affordable packages!! My only question is WHY in the world would you take such a brilliant idea and make it "limited." are they doing this because orange is also doing it? orange is amazing though
too bad all the cool stuff is only available in limited editions... The Bluesbreaker is a classic. If you finally got that one right it sure deserves to be available permanently.
Are they Gig-able? I mean it sound massive loud in this Video. But in person? Is it loud enough for a Gig?
That Les Paul Looks awesome. Would like to know the Price of the package
perfect idea no tone controls just have volume a gain and simal class switch so eq is unity accross board ojn front gain master vol and tone control only three pots on all
This guy plays amazing.
@TheOrderoftheOwl: I have to disappoint you: they are are not handwired... They are made with printed circuit boards...
@zonk391 Exactly. I worked on a bunch of arena shows last year with a band running Orange Tiny Terror amps on half power. That's 7.5W. They sounded great. Never once did anyone complain they weren't loud enough. This was in indie band, so hardly lounge jazz.

I think its a fantastic idea if they can make a reproduction of the older heads with a lower wattage for bedrrom stuff.
Holt Shitte those are cool. I need one watt of power that sounds like 100 watter at Royal Albert Hall.
@GuillermoSmyser never thought about it that way!
Rebecca, goddess of the geetars
dose any one no is those cabs are matching to the heads? are they limited to ?
This is fucking rad. Sooo want one.
the jmp with the boost switch sounded awesome. and the jtm sounded great too. the jcm was cool too buit a tad too much gain for me.
The good thing is you can dial it down and it’ll get cleaner in a very nice way.
make the all marshall head as jim asked i desined it. but dock set the eq internal mate just have tone master and gain por and the class switch from 50/40/30/25/12.5 watts on it all needs the settings are standars they all use simplify it make it look like jmp head call it the marshall master head
As an owner of the Haze would have been nice to know these were in production
Dear Rebecca Dirks,
Damn girl! :) Also, these amps are great sounding by the way!
@bubbleheadft completely agree!
hmm, thats interesting, i played my guitar with passive emg's through it and i loved it. sorry to hear about your experiences man :/
I wanna hear Rebecca play something! :D
"Marshall" Les Paul, Bluesbreaker VOS and a Marshall 50 y.o. Whiskey. Now that is the Shit!
love em
