Coming from a psychology background , I have to add something. You don't have to compulsorily need a PhD to be a psychologist. You have to attain a bachelor's in psychology and then a master's in Psychology. Once you have both of these you are termed as a "Consultant/counselling psychologist". This can be attained through various specializations too at the masters level which can be Applied psychology, counselling psychology, clinical psychology, organizational psychology and many more. Afterwards if you want to start a clinic of your own or if you want to be a licenced Psychologist with an RCI recognition, termed as "Clinical psychologist" you have to take a MPhil. At this point you will be a clinical psychologist. Taking a PhD is an option if someone who has completed psychology masters/MPhil if he/she/they wants to go to the research centric field and not interested in much of a clinical /therapy exposure , which completely depends upon the individual. One more thing she said was that if you have 9 years of experience you can change up to 1500 per session. And if you are not affordable to take therapy for yourself you can take up a psychology course. Ohh yes ! People who have had downfalls or have been in the worst phase have taken psychology courses and have done wonders to them. But at some point , a therapist has to see another therapist sometimes. Everything is fine up to a certain threshold . Taking a psychology course will help you know more about yourself. Making therapies more accessible will also do wonders in this case.
