    Dear reader, dont feel disheartened if you can't afford grass fed/ organic foods. Don't let that be the reason to not give this a go. Even if you can wash your fruits and vegetables in baking soda to kill of 90% of pesticides, that's a good start. I felt called to say this because I know that some people don't have that option. That's okay, remember the reason why you watched this video in the first place. Make small changes to what circumstances your in, know that even watching this video is your first step to being a healthier version of you and putting yourself first. I wish you so much health and happiness.
    Love,
    Unique Destiny ❤

    Hi, being a muslim with Ramadan ive seen the benefits. Usually struggle with headaches first few days and then find it difficult to start fasting again out of the month becomes so difficult.
    Now im sticking to fasting with water,coffee and tea which has helped to stay consistent. I now am doing between 20-23 hour a day fasting which has shown great results in a short period of time.
    I generally dont eat much but drank less on water. Ive changed that now. Also taking applecider vinegar.
    All these fasting videos has helped me to stay on track and discipline.

    I understand that organic chicken is the best option, but sometimes we do buy a roast chicken from the store. When we do, I carve it up for meals. And put all of bones/carcass to simmer for hours, with a bay leaf. (If you love Pho broth, add a couple of star anise).
    After several hours, 4-8, I remove the bones and refrigerate covered, overnight. When I check it hours later, it always has that rich gelatinous texture. (Which means, you can still get the bone broth content out of a roasted (not raw) chicken.
    It is one more way to get the most bang for the buck with food.

    • @suredeydo
      @suredeydo 2 місяці тому +6

      Because those chickens are wrapped in plastic and under heat for possibly hours, the micro plastic load in them is insane. That's why organic.

      @@suredeydo i sort of am lucky. I don’t like the Amazimon Fresh stores, but one moved nearby, and I can oft catch them when the chickens are just out of the roaster oven. They are popular, and taste better than most. I sometimes ask when they will have s fresh batch out.
      But yes. Too many plastics leaching into everything.

    I'm still struggling to eat enough protein in my eating window. (A 16/8 schedule is what my body seems comfortable with.) I am coming from several months of juicing, eating mostly veggies, brown rice, nuts and beans. The inflammation in my body is gone and I haven't been sick in over a year, but my energy was lagging and the weight just seemed to plateau. I've switched from vegan to vegetarian, adding dairy and eggs, so it may be that my body is just not accustomed to it yet. I've been feeling much better though, and the weight is coming off again, so I'm excited. I'm amazed at how easy fasting is with this approach. I can hardly believe it. I have quite a bit of experience with fasting, but usually did it with juicing. I never knew something like MCT oil could be taken during a fast, but it's been amazing!
    I'm loving these videos. So thankful for Dr Mindy!❤

Maybe even the benefits of consciousness and brain function as a vegetarian. ...As example, Yogi's (practitioners of Yoga) choose to eat vegetarian rather than a vegan diet most notably because of the benefits that ghee has on the brain, joints, and gut health. I really wish I had learned about how beneficial and healing red meat and animal fat is before I went through my vegan phase. I want to look at it this way instead of aiming for fasting goals and food restriction goals. Here is why. because I am always looking at ketone levels and GKI levels as the real measure of my success. see what I mean. so instead of fasting goals, I would like to have ketone/GKI level goals and then find the fasting/restricting goals that might get me where I want to go as far as ketones/GKI. why is this? because I need the ketones/GKI levels if I want to achieve in terms of insulin sensitivity and reducing inflammation.

      @PaddyP538 hello, I guess you have to take your eating window, divide into two hours each time and check your protein intake. For exemple, my goal weight is 45kg, if my eating window is 8 hours, my intake of protein each 2 hours would be about 11 gr each time x 4 . Do you agree? What is your eating window you chose for protein cycling?
      dr Mindy take a goal of 130pounds, an eating window of ten hours so it makes 26 gr / 30gr by meal every two hours (130 divided by 5 -eating window 10 hours, intake each 2 hours = 5, and you have the explanation of the 30 gr P)
      Or you have this answer from dr Mindy : "If Autophagy is your goal, then protein is under 20 grams a day."
      You also have @teresaaltman5264 publication (180gr of P) and dr Mindy's answer.

    I have been following your program for over a year. Implementing everything the book and utube videos recommend. At 1st my migraines got worse. Then it occurred to me to look into the foods I was breaking fasts with or turning off hunger hormone with. I discovered I am histamine intolerant. So once I cut out all the histamine triggering foods my migraines went away. Other than a few headaches and maybe 1 migraine a month. I went from having migraines all my life and thousands of dollars in neurologist bills, to find out the foods the neurologist had me eating were causing most of my migraines and itching. I am 53 now. Haven’t made it through menopause yet. I am 5 ft and am about 10-12 lbs over weight. I have done all the long fast, protein cycling, red light ect. Still after over a year I have not lost the belly pouch. I am not able to implement the histamine triggering foods like bone broth, sauerkraut, fermented foods, avacodos. Since I cut all that out I do find I have a slight tolerance now and then without a side effect. I have a genetic mutation in my calcium receptor. I have what is called FHH (Familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia ) I am starting to think this and the histamine intolerance is why I can not lose the extra lbs. I have osteopenia from the FHH and the fasting life has no doubt helped my bone pain. ( and migraines and itching ) I just wish I could figure out what to do, or not do, to get to my final goal. I wish I could implement everything you suggested but my body says no!

      I hear you with the thousands spent on medical professionals. I was vegan or vegetarian for many years in my 20's, then omnivore for the past 13 years. I'm 41 now and all my life I struggled with migraines and extreme fatigue every day. All blood work came back normal and I had extensive panels done. I have been trying many things on my own, including fasting. Just in the past two months I figured out three cures for my migraines and fatigue: extra iron supplementation, daily sternocleidomastoid stretches, and strength training at home 4 days a week. My entire life I have dealt with crazy occipital pain that no one ever figured out. No one suggested daily neck exercise. No one suggested iron supplements because my blood work came back in the normal range. No one suggested strength training. I am absolutely convinced that doctors don't care and don't want to help you het well. They are numb to people bc they have to see so many people every week and so many people lie about their symptoms to get drugs. We are our own therapy. We have to research and try things on our own. I an so blessed and happy to say that since I have incorporated all three measures I have no eye pain unless I don't stretch, no more chronic fatigue and I have hope. Years on antidepressants wasted. We need to share with each other what works to save other people from going through a horrible medical system.

I cannot count the numerous times that a good earthy and healthy bone broth saved my day and restored my gut balance. Exercise, moving a lot it's also very important. I am post menopausal and have autoimmune, and the meds give me insomnia. I started drinking Moonbrew every night about two weeks ago and I am asleep by 11 every night (used to be 1/2 am), and am naturally waking up between 7:30 and 8:30 am (used to be 9 or 10 am). I’ve been mixing the hot cocoa flavor into a glass of raw goats milk and drinking it cold like chocolate milk. It’s the last thing I consume before starting my fasting window. The first night I took it. I was ready to pass out in an hour. Now it’s more about just helping me relax and fall asleep, it’s not quite so drastic, but it has definitely helped me get back to a normal sleep pattern. And I’m only waking up once or twice to pee and falling right back asleep.

      I'm right there with you! There's just no way I could eat that much inside my eating window. I'd have to do nothing but eat, lol. I'm feeling much better tho, so as long as my body is happy and my conditions are improving, I guess I won't stress over it.

      I think the Kirkland’s Sipping Bone Broth is the best in terms of richness of flavor. Making your own is better, if possible.

    Ive fasted 43 days of waterfast. 10 days refeed on kefir and bone broth and soups, 7 days eating solids. I have diarrhea and vomiting, nausea since ive started day 1 of refeed. Over 2wks now and the D+V hasnt stopped. Today i will ask doc for fbc. Im getting ibs symptoms, possibly food intolerance or allergy to certain food that caused ibs symptoms...

      @shazanakhan9807,
      Oh my goodness, I'm so very sorry to hear that and after all of your dedication and sacrifice!! :( I am stumped by it, as fasting tends to reset/change the microbiome and give good bugs an advantage.
      Have you tried solid foods yet? Could it just be all the kefir?
      I did an almost 3 month juice fast years back, and I broke it with cooked vegetables (a small bowl; carrots & purple cabbage). I started craving potatoes and added those in within a few days. My digestion was pristine, and I credited it to the long fast.
      I really hope you get better. 🙏

      Throw in a large pot 1 2 or 3 chicken carcasses add chicken feet and necks chopped onion chopped carrots salt pepper mixed herbs chicken stock cubes adjust quantities to suit your taste add enough water to drown all and slow cook at least overnight longer not a problem with a slow cooker you can keep it on until you finish contents I have kept mine on for 3 days until I have taken all the juice make sure you leave chicken skin in broth needs the fat add mct oil or butter or both adjust and experiment to your taste i also put cayenne pepper in and sometimes other herbs ...you need the chicken fat in it

    That 10 oz steak is uncooked. After cooking, depending on how it’s cooked, it’s going to be less than 10 oz. Maybe 7-8 oz. Non meat sources of protein ( fish, beans, legumes, tofu etc.) don’t shrink after cooking.

      The weight loss is because of the fat that's rendered out of the steak as you cook it. There is also water loss. The protein is still in there. I'm no expert but I think that protein from carnivore sources is more bioavailable and has all the amino acids we need. Plants, to my knowledge, do not.

      Hence the question several have asked in the comments that hasn't been answered - is food to be measured raw or cooked? 10 Oz of cooked beef vs 10 Oz of raw beef is very different quantities of food...
