This was good, Ben. Maybe next time you can talk about the country-wide sub shortage and what some districts are doing to keep schools “running.” It boils down to 3 options: 1. Overworking the teachers who aren’t sick and/or quarantined by guilting them into subbing during all of their plan periods and lunch. 2. Replacing teachers with any non-certified staff who passed the background check or 3. Temporary Closures of individual schools that don’t have staffing covered. We’re worried, we’re tired, and we can’t take much more of this. (Oh! BTW: Many districts are still doing teacher evaluations in the midst of a pandemic where nothing is predictable. That’s a special kind of audacity!)
@@LishB1011 Yep. That was Oklahoma. New Mexico called in National Guard members, and Utah is allowing literally ANYONE WHO IS WILLING to go into a classroom and sub.
Considering most districts here in colorado won't hire on subs that once worked in the pot industry I have very little sympathy right now. I have a BA and I'm willing to be a sub but they won't take me because I worked in a dispenery when I was 22. Doesn't matter that it was the only place that was paying enough for me to go to school and pay medical bills. I worked with pot so fuck off
I know my kids school district in Ohio sent out an email stating that with COVID and the every day shortages they can’t keep up with the current bus routes. So if a kid misses school due to not being having a bus to take them there then it’s excused and there’s no makeup work. Because they are out of options.
@@jasminetownsend2459 Wow. Yeah, the bussing situation is pretty crazy everywhere. Our drivers are doing 2 or 3 more routes per day just to make up for the lack of drivers. I don’t know how much longer we can keep this up.
Now I'm confused... Why was Florida the good guy? Don't get me wrong, it's for the wrong reason but if it helps kids education, especially for those that miss class days due to illness, it's totally worth it. Plus, any issues that happen would be thoroughly documented. I'm impressed

We need more Wyoming content, I feel kind of left out here. Our education system is a hot mess, the politics are losing their minds, and people's natural gas prices (in my area) have gone up by about 43% (give or take a few percentages). I know not much makes the big news but I feel we need something...anything!! In all honesty, I love the portrayal of various states and agencies and having Ms. Rogers on this was amazing! Your content is getting better and better! I love it!
This episode started with schools and ended with covid, and... Nebraska? Meanwhile Ms. Rogers is probably just sitting there confused out of her mind at the chaos she has just bore witness to.
I really feel like he missed the perfect moment to cut back to her at the end looking confused concerned and any other emotion similar to those two all in a moment
We're literally dying here in the state of Misery and folks are using ignore it and pretend nothing is going on, which Parson loves to do because he thinks the battle with covid is over. Guess that's why St. Louis needed to ask for federal help and why over half the schools in Missouri have closed.
You turned Oregon over to the Beavers?! 😱😖😭 Ducks are the way to go Ben!🦆 I'm gonna to have to look for either Duck stuff or stuff from either the Coast (anywhere along the coast), the Mountains or Multnomah Falls for you. This should have ended with Mrs Rodgers saying “I don’t get paid enough for this”
YES!!!
this x1000
Exactly what I was thinking!
Precisely
I see what you did there and heartily endorse it
“We’re getting 4k babyyy” Now back to standing in line for your bucket🤣

Love the collab!
...I feel like Florida would at least know the reality show Big Brother. I'm actually kind of disappointed.
Honestly, that was my first thought.
Is it possible to shrink the state abbreviations? Or, at least could you make them more transparent so we can see the state flags better?
Did the DoE really expect Florida to get book references?
Maybe if the book has been made into a movie?
