FAQ's
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What camera do you use?
I use a Canon 750D to film my videos on a tripod.
-What do you do for a living?
My full time job is a full time Beauty Therapy Lecturer at a College - Навчання та стиль
Thank you for doing both UK and US terms. It makes learning much easier and later makes reading other patterns easier as well.
I was taught to weave the ends in with a needle, but this is so much easier. I can see myself doing more colour change patterns in future.
Glad it helped you :)
I was nervous I wouldn’t get the hang of this but your videos are a life saver I’ve only watched 3 and I’m already making my baby a blanket ❤️❤️
That's brilliant well done, let me know how you get on :)
I have problems learning new things sometimes, but I think it’s mostly getting into my own head before learning a new skill/step because it’s never as hard as I make it in my head. So I’m learning very slowly and basically perfecting everything before moving on. Your videos are great! I learned the slipknot (which my little sister actually said I do better than her already and she’s done some SERIOUS projects!), the chain, the US double/UK single (did I get that backwards?), and just now the color change. I started, after ruining a few small pieces, a small scarf for my twin granddaughters. So it’s nice and simple and repetitive, which I like, only 20 stitches across, and I had to add a color because the starter kit I got had small balls and I ran out of the first one. Oh, and turning, of course. It may take me a while to get through a lot of your videos but I’m using only your channel so far to learn! Thank you! I’m home by myself a lot so this is a great skill to learn and have something else to keep myself busy, other than my legos and my sewing! I decided since everyone kept telling me how great I am at sewing maybe I should try to learn crochet! Hopefully I get good at it too! I don’t have a sewing machine and do everything by hand. Recently I made my granddaughters a teddy bear made completely by hand. Also, hand drew a pattern by myself and looking at a bunch and not finding one the size I wanted. That was the first thing I had ever made! They loved it!
Sorry, meant to comment myself, not highjack yours. 🙈😂
WHAT IS THIS WIZARDRY
I've always wondered how you change colour in the middle of a row. And now I know. Thanks Sarah Jayne.
I've learned so much from your videos! I return to them often to refresh a technique. There are many block/motif designs that expect you to follow a chart for color changes. Do you have a video on that? I'm baffled by them.
You are becoming my favorite UA-camr!! I've been crocheting for a long time but wasn't the best at it. I learned from my mother who was left handed but I'm right handed. So I don't hold the yarn exactly right. But you have cleared up a lot of things for me. I love how you explain everything and also show us. Thank you so much!!!
I am left handed and haven't yet found any tutorials for left handed people. I have to reverse everything which is not always easy. However, these videos are so clearly explained and the camera picks up the work very well which helps.
Your videos are so helpful to my 8 year old daughter! She has developed a love for crocheting because of you. Thank you!! ❤
You are so very welcome :)
I'm just beginning to crochet again after many years, so I have been looking at various videos and posts online for refreshers. I ran across your site while looking at patterns for a couple of projects that I have in mind, and I just love how you show and explain crocheting methods. They're so easy to understand and I am excited to begin and be able to follow along with your instructions. I'm a new subscriber too! Thanks so much.
I really liked how you explained how to do this, and your voice is beautiful! 😃
Thank you :)
I just LOVE your tutorials!!…I am a pretty good crocheter, but not perfect, and still need help at times, and you are my go-to channel....You explain everything so easily and clear...Thank you so much!!!!……Much love from NY!!!!……
You're very welcome :)
@@bellacococrochet Um Bella your tutorials are great but I can't do the double crochet and the the treble crochet
You're an amazing teacher. I find your method of demonstrating each stitch and techniques the easiest for me to pick up and retain. Thanks to your videos, even though I just picked up a crochet hook two weeks ago, I am already making a sweater and a summer top and they are coming along nicely! Thank you so much for your help!!!💖👏
You are very welcome and well done it sounds like you are a natural :)
great instructions, you make it look so easy. thx
This was super helpful, thank you. I just ran out of my first ball of yarn midway through a row and had no idea what to do. This really helped me to learn how to add my new yarn ball into my work. ❤️❤️❤️
You're welcome :)

Bella, thank you for being just so beautiful and fab at explaining this craft. Have been following you since Christmas 2016 and now I'm making a wee baby blanket for my friend's baby. 🎀
Dang I didn’t know you could do that to the loose ends! I might have to remake my baby blanket now 😭😭
Thank you so much, Sarah Jayne, your tutorials are just soooooo clear! And a joy to follow. Thank you! xx
U r the best teacher, ur explanation is very clear and easy. Thank u
Great video, Very helpful thanks.
Thank you for all of your amazing tutorials for beginners ❤️ I on some point have a different size of hook and different thread :( whenever I follow all the instructions I always end up finish a small pattern than what you have 😂😋 I just have a little trouble finding the right thread and hook maybe because here in the Philippines I guess has a very limited threads and hook sizes 😭 If I can find the right hook I end up getting no thread to work on with the hook or vice versa....
What a great tutorial! I've watched this and the granny Square tutorial and now I've started a blanket! I've never crocheted before, so thank tou. Greetings from Denmark.
You're very welcome 🙂

Thank you so much for producing clear instructions. I am very new to crochet and learning with a group of ladies at church. Once we do our lessons we are always referred to your videos which reinforce our lessons! Now I am subscribed and moved onto grannie squares.
You are very welcome :)
Thank you very much for showing me how to change colors. It was a little challenging for me since I'm using super bulky yarn and working my rows in the back of the stitch only. Just a lot to hold at one time.....LOL. But I finally got the hang of it :-)
Thank you. all your videos are very informative, you even got me to pick up my crochet again after many years of not doing anything

You're very welcome :)
Thanks for explaining this because I didn’t know how to do this. I am still learning crochet even though I crocheted in high school, but it was just to connect knitted and crocheted squares together to make throw blankets for the seniors in my youth group. I’ve been trying to get better at crochet since then.
You’re welcome, I'm glad it's been helpful and remember that crochet is practice and patience 😊
this just made me so much more confident in making my sister in law a baby blanket for my little niece on the way. thank you so much!!

This is going to improve my crochet 100 fold!
So glad it was helpful :)
This is a great tutorial! Thank you for posting. I learned to crochet before youtube was a thing and I never got very good at changing colors. This was clear and great view! (And now I've dated myself 🤭)
You're very welcome :)
Bella Coco When do you change colours in sc? After which row, that is? An even or odd row? Or does it not matter?
This was very very helpful! I’m a complete beginner and this was absolutely easy to follow ❤
I'm so glad it was helpful :)

I looked for this video because I’m doing your pumpkin toturial but I ran out of yarn so this is so helpful! Tyyyy
Glad I could help :)
Are the stitches secure enough for washing?
Yes! They are.
Hi- would you use this same method say you were using multiple reoccurring color yarns? Thanks
Thank you! I have a question of how I would make a circle in another color? Would I cut the color for the circle at the end of each row and then place it back in again when I work my way back or keep the circle color yarn when I change the row? I want to make a scarf that is using white with black specks but has a red dot toward the beginning to the scarf. It represents a Koi breed of fish Tancho Showa.
i love your videos so much! i learned everything I need to know.
Thank you :)

I think 6 people hit the wrong button... that's the only way to explain how someone couldn't like this. Another great, simple and easy to follow tutorial!

Thank you so much!
You're welcome :)
I love the fact that you teach in both uk and us terminology.
your the only crochet youtuber that i can understand. everyone else hides the stiches they go into and go way too fast lol
Ahh thank you so much :)
Thank you for this :) Just wondering how this would work if you're working with the foundation turning stitch? At which point would you add the new colour? Thanks!
You will still pull through the new colour in the same way, when making the final part of the stitch on the row before the new colour 😊
Bella... I am wondering if it is at all possible to change pattern once you have started (eg... granny to waffle)... if it is would you be able to do a video on it?... reason I ask is that I'm making a pillow case and want to alternate between 2 different patterns (waffle and puff) and not sure how I would go about changing over...
Many thanks
Thankkkkuu uu soo muchhhhh!!! 💖💖💖💖
You are very welcome :)
Hopefully this will help with my bumble bee 🐝 thanks!
Great video!!! ❤👍
Thank you :)
I love your video ❤
Thank you :)
I am making a hufflepuff scarf for winter so this will help
What pattern is this Iot looks like simple sc
You are so good at your tutorials. Your voice is easy to listen to, you dont speak too quickly and you hold your crochet in a way that is easy to see. There is a tutorial called Hugs and Kisses Sunshine blanket. Its a beautiful pattern but is taught by someone who speaks too quickly and doesnt hold the crochet flat. Ive tried twice now to do it but have to rewind over and over and over again... I would love it if you could teach it!
