- In this video we'll be discussing one of Destiny's most brutal enemies. The Cabal. The Cabal have very little lore surrounding them but it seems as though they're going to be the focus of the next Destiny expansion. I'll be talking in this extra lore about their society, military, legions and much more!

To be fair, them having to resort to magic like telekinesis and still failing kinda says something. All they need to do is to preform a psychic lobotomy and you would be... dealt with
I can't be the only one who likes these D1 Cabal designs over the modern D2 ones. They just feel much more Cabal to me then the Red Legion ones we have.
So basically those reinforcements are the red legion in destiny 2.
MGE survivor Yes, after Ta'aun and his brothers died the Skyburners sent their signal and it reached Ghaul who came with his Red Legion.

I know that the Cabal were supposed to be inspired by Warhammer 40k Space Marines, but the damn slug throwers are basically Bolters too!?

I'm a 40k fan and I didn't think about that. But they are actually very similar.

Reading that, I actually have a great deal more respect for a Guardian's durability if they can shrug off bolter rounds!
Indeed, considering the fact that even space marines have some issues just "shrugging" off bolter rounds. And their armor is twice as thick as a...well an entire titan.

I know I have them both as well as the d2 slug launcher "grand overture"
Imagine how much better destiny's over all gameplay would be if they programmed the enemy ai according to the lore. Like different cabal could behave different ways. Like imagine you stumble upon a cabal patrol and as you begin to fuck them up one of them will call in the dust legion or whatever they were called. Or the siege troopers would be seen assaulting a hive lair with 30+ soldiers of different types. The cabal could have rocket troops, legionaries, centurions, and maybe a colossus. The hive would have wizards, thralls, knights, the foot soldiers whatever their called, and maybe an ogre along with several defensive turrets and defensive positions. As the cabal push up they're placing portable walls and maybe will call in reinforcements ever once In a while or maybe a tank. Of course this would extend to all other races too, and would also be more like halo because there would be larger battles around the different areas. Then you would be able to get in on it with your friends and the ai would use more in the moment tactics like reading where your glide will land you and throwing a bunch of grenades at the spot. Phalanxes would group up and form a shield wall instead of that one autistic phalanx who thinks it's a good idea to pop that shield when all of his squad mates are dead. Shit like that would just make the gameplay so much better

It would be pretty cool if Bungie made a game where you could play as the Cabal (or any enemy faction really, most preferably the Cabal in my opinion), you know to learn their story. Also you can chose which legion you want to be apart of (Siege Dancers, Dust Giants etc.). You start out as Legionary and work your way up to a Centurion or Commander, or you have a choice to stay as a Legionary. I would definitely buy this game if Bungie were to actually make it
I want a cabal raid, I think it would be pretty sweet.
According to kotaku, it's already in the game. They just locked it away from the base game so they can put it in future dlc.
+Andrew Denneno Never trust Kotaku, remember how they said that the Sleeper Simulant was going to be the new Ghjalgsjbdhorn, or when they said that micro-transactions were going to make the new expansions for free
+Andrew Denneno may be you missed the Kotaku article saying they didnt include that (as well as many other things) simply because it didnt fit with the big plot overhaul they made 1 year before release.
That said, I wouldnt hold it against Bungie. Shit happens; I'm just glad they have been able to come this far.

ya I wish this game had raid progression like wow too.
they could add lore to the raids too like say there's a cabal raid before a taken raid bc the cabal invaded the taken and put a garrison behind the keep guardians out thinking 1. the guardians will take advantage of the fact the cabal are engaged in war and are vulnerable to invasion from us, and/or 2. they want to keep any interference out bc they think other factions will get in the way and ruin their offensive.
the cabal are cool as fuck tho being based off the Roman empire. they look weird being these behemoths but that's subjective, I still think they look awesome

One of the most interesting things Ive heard about the Cabal in lore is that the Cabal troops that we fight and see in Destiny are only scouts and that there are troops, generals, and emperors that are more powerful than we can even imagine somewhere far outside the solar system that we play the game in.

MivTheMan Uh, no, Ghaul was the emperor. Calus had been overthrown by Ghaul.
THEdragonslayrr _ except that ghaul is dead, and calus is back in command. Calus chronologically arrives after ghauls death, so technically he ain’t wrong.
Not to mention that calus is adrassed as emperor in one of the Nessus adventures by a red legionary.
You do an excellent job explaining the lore. I always said to myself "one day I will read all the Grimiore cards" but never have. So your videos are a huge help in learning the lore.

I would love to see an in depth look at how the "knives" from the Taken grimore cards relate to the enemy types... what exactly is being gained for what sacrifice and how it ties into the specific lore for those specific creatures.

The cabal legions are the Dust Giants, The Sand Eaters, The Blind Legion. The Broken Legion, The Ice Reapers, The Skyburners, The Siege Dancers and The Red Legion
The Siege Dancers seem to fill an Army-Corp-of-Engineers-type role to me.
I love this new series. There are just two points I’d like to bring up. The other day I received a Titan artifact that is intriguing. It is called “Judgement of Mars”. It’s description “Cryptarchs say this orb is our first clue toward the identity of the Cabal commander leading the siege of Mars.” Do you Believe this is an unknown commander that we have yet to learn about that is already in the Sol System? Or is this commander a powerful enemy that is still to come?
Secondly, I will refer to a patrol mission found on mars concerning an aspect of the Psions that I did not hear mentioned. It is the “Multiple Hosts” mission. Description, “Kill the Cabal’s mysterious Psions. Remove their Symbiotes for processing and analysis.”
Do Symbiotes naturally exist along side of the Psion species, or are they introduced by the Cabal as a means to weaponize the Psions and control them?

I have always been fascinated by the cabal. Bungie made a great fictional embodiment of what battle hardened militant ethos would look like
Have a Unicron-like planet that the Cabal operate as a mobile war base and is the next patrol area.

Hey byf,I really enjoyed this video.Next I would maybe a video on the fallen for example like where the fallen originated,their society,how they are able to live in so many variants of regions,and maybe how many planets they've conquered or scavenged
A cabal central story and raid would be awesome. It'd be cool if the actual encounters adjusted to what we were doing or the tactics we utilize. It would bring replayability and seems to fit the militaristic mindset of the cabal.

I really love your extra lore videos so much more fun than ready through the thousand grimoire, but what I really want is the next Book of Sorrows video it's just so great
One of the things that handicaps the Cabal (and the Fallen to some extent, not that it keeps them from killing Guardians) is that they do not understand Guardian reconstruction. One of the most chilling additions to the Taken King Lore is on Cabal 4, when intelligence says,, "Hey, we've noticed that the Hive can kill Guardians for good - let's go to the Dreadnaught so we can find out how to do it, too." The Light/Darkness struggle seems entirely foreign to them; nevertheless, they've kept the Vex at bay on Mars and have taken out Guardian groups in the past. That's both fascinating and terrifying, and the Last City could be in serious trouble if they get access to paracausal weaponry.
Also, it'd be awesome to see a run down on the Fallen Houses, or perhaps on Ghosts?
Ahh the cabal the alien version of the Imperium of man. No literally I think that bungle made these guys as a reference of 40k. Love these guys!!

Fallen lore would be awesome. They are my favorite race.
I'm imagining a cabal raid being similar to the shield brothers strike where we fight the boss with a massive onslaught of smaller cabal going on, wave after wave until we get to the point where the big guys show up. We kill them too. And then our raid boss comes out asking to be put out of his misery so we do just that except he has different attack patterns randomized at different stages of his health. I see it as a very linear maze simply because the cabal don't have any words for retreat.

That skyburners grimoire card is pretty on point with what's happened in destiny 2. Also did dead orbit lie about the red legion? They said they posed to immediate threat but if dead orbit saw what was coming then I'm pretty sure they knew what was going to happen to the traveller. It would make sense for them to not say anything so they can push their agenda
Boy how Byf was right about the last transmission. All our forces weakened and scattered by the Red Guard's commander, Ghaul.
And that transmission requesting reinforcements = red legion in Destiny 2. Never would have dreamed that would happen when I first watched this video

Who wants to bet that the Cabal Stomp theme will get 6 more adaptions to it for the Cabal DLC. I wouldn't mind that honestly because that theme kicks ass no matter how it sounds!
The cabal are my favorite enemy in destiny and I'm hyped out of my mind for a cabal focused expansion. We've beaten the hive to death with 2 DLCs and 2 raids. The cabal are way more interesting and have a sweet hierarchy that makes them a really fun group to fight against. thanks for the lore video byf it was really good. Now all we need is a cabal raid. Then we can all die happy as the cabal emperor rips us apart limb from limb. The hype train is all fired up. Tickets for said train are on sale now...
I'd love a cabal raid where you're doing what seems like a routine raid on a cabal base, you kill whatever security chief is there, destroy the cabal hardware, and then it turns out they got sick of your shit, and used psions to pull you into some demented mindscape where anything is possible.

Hi Byf, I really enjoy these Lore/Extra Lore videos and love the topics you cover. I think an interesting one would be about the war between Cabal & Vex, or Fallen & Hive. I can see how they would definitely make an interesting topic. Anyway, keep up the good work!

It would be great if the added bigger raid groups. Imagine a 18 player destiny Cabal raid encounter and it's set up like an absolute war zone, pinning your teams with the help of the fallen, against an army of cabal. I see the fallen partnership happening soon!
