I don't know the in game reason why there are thirteen wolf heads on Gjallerhorn but Bungie did explain why they put thirteen on. According to Bungie, every day they worked on Gjallerhorn, they put a wolf head on it somewhere. I could be wrong but I wanted to share this because its interesting.
It would be really cool if there was some way we could make our own armor or weapons so that we too could feel like one of these badass characters. I mean we did too save the freaking universe multiple times.
Our influence stopped the Rachni, but before that we held the line. Our influence stopped the Krogan, but before that we held the line. Our influence will stop the Fallen, in the battle today we will hold the line!
absolutely brilliant! Oh, and btw, I read that there are 16 wolves on the Gjallarhorn, and according to Mark Van Haitsma (the fellow who designed it at Bungie), he put a wolf on it for every day he spent working on it. I have stared at it, and there are indeed 16 viewable wolves, if you look at it from all available angles in game.
Tcbaur this has been me the last few days Never knew destiny's story is so deep Strugling to understand why the fuck they didn't empliment it in the game because it's honestly amazing lore. And has the potential for an awesome story which they could seriously pull of with destiny 2... Hopefully
Seattle Children's hospital? That's awesome! I'm from the area, so I tip my hat to you sir. I plan on pitching in to your patreon just for that now! Kudos to you Byf, keep it going!
Byf there are 13 wolves on the launcher bc for every day the developer spent working on the weapon he added a wolf....13 wolves = 13 days spent working on it...love the channel
Ahh yes, the so beloved Gjallarhorn! If I remember correctly from the weapons guide that came with the special editions of Destiny in year 1, there are 16 wolf heads on the weapon - 1 for each day the artist who created the Gjallarhorn spent on this weapons design.
Ivan Caldwell definately. Story was originally what I thought was it's weakpoint until I discovered that it's lore is insanely indepth and very interesting. Personally I find the hive and lore and the darkness fucken awesome as well as the thought of guardians becoming tainted with darkness. Honesty hope that one day in destiny the their will be a war between the guardians and a darkened evil group of guardians and you get top choose your side Just an idea though hahah
Byf, you're the lore king. Canonically, are exotic weapons supposedly unique, with the expectation for us being to ignore the obvious duplication problem (it's not like there's one Thorn in the entire universe), or are they canonically replicas?
the number of wolf heads is significant because each head represents a iron lord who rose from the of Twilight gap. and the gjallarhorn was made for those iron lords only. bungie was at first going to only put 13 into the game but ultimately changed their minds.
hey byf,the truth rocket launcher has Crux/Lomar etched on the side and it tracks also the design of it looks unfinished like a test rocket launcher so I think it was when gjallerhorn was built it took the truth perk as well as the unique wolf rounds perk.
I know this is an old video and I’m late to the series but you’ve mentioned in a few videos about the far history behind the city and a few battles where hundreds of guardians died, and I just wanted to ask if you had any idea how they died their final death? I thought the point of the ghosts was to bring us back, and also in the video that you mentioned radagast and the other firebreak titans pushing the fallen back you said their ghosts returned without them, how does that make sense?
Hey byf what about the twilight garrison is that related to the twilight gap battle and the symbol on the twilight garrison is on the vaults in the tower which I think might have some thing to do with the T.G
I'm pretty sure the number of wolves heads on Gjallerhorn are due simply to the number of days the artist spent on the overall design... Or at least something similar. I'm certain I saw that snippet of info on a '10 things you didn't know about Destiny' vid somewhen....
You left out the HUGE reason as to why Iron Banner uses the Wolves and Trees. And the OTHER connection that Shaxx and Saladin have with each other and that it all also came to a head at Twilight Gap when Ana died...
I've always have thought that in destiny 2 or even a later update, that, somehow, we should be sent back in time two all these great battles. Possibly by Rasputin (since he had the power to cripple the traveller)?
the significancy of the number of wolves of the Gjallarhorn is not related to the lore directly. The artist added a new wolf each day he worked on it, for a total of 16 wolves
If Byf died at the end of Skolas... :) Ha nice man. Next Extra Lote should be on Sleeper Simulant. Just an idea. The best lore in the game is Rasputin than Osiris vs Saint 14
What is the name of the particular music piece you put in the background Byf? I know that it's probably Destiny music, but I really would like to know the specific name and variant of it.
well if it would had mad it into year 2 it would have hindered the raid as it would become, well crotas end all over again now if they would fix it and make it more balanced then I would love to see it get added to year 2

Sladin hates Shaxx, when iron banner was rift i had lost like 6 games in a row and Sladin said something like "What are you doing guardian, would you rather participate in Shaxx's crucible ."
You see this!? This is a Gallahorn. People are going to try to convince you its pronounced Yallarhorn but its not. Other acceptable pronunciations are Ballerhorn , Ghorn, Gloryhole, Gallawhore, but never EVER Yallarhorn. (Destiny year 1 - what you missed)
+Nate Thomas Oh my god you're dumb... Go watch the video "destiny year 1 what you missed" maybe then you'll get it... Or if you're too lazy I'll spell it out for you.... ITS A JOKE.
So was G-horn created before or after the Iron Lords were killed off by Siva? To me it seems like Twilight Gap was after their deaths. Especially considering Saladin was a Vanguard at the time mentoring Zevala and Shaxx. So why is their such a connection between the Iron Lords and G-horn when they were already deceased? Saladin makes it sound like the lords used it in combat which wouldn't be possible. Plot hole I'm assuming?...
how had the Queen always been so... almost like she is in the inner loop at the tower. like she a guardian or a high ranking vanguard. she's just so in the know it's peculiar
Gjallahorn: a weapon forged from the armor and strength of guardians lost at the twilight gap. NERFED. It's like bungie has no respecy for their own lore and weapons...
Can anyone tell me what: " Per Audacia Ad Astra " means? I've searched on line for an answer, and can't find anything. I've seen something "close" to it: "Per ?? Ad Astra" , which is used by space organizations, so I take it it has something to do with going to the stars??
I believer there are 16 wolf heads, 1 for each day bungie worked on its design or something like that. At first it was just a joke putting a shit ton of wolves on it but then they thought it was awesome

I have a theory as to why gally is no longer as good as it used to be, and fit within the lore.(though I am no expert) it might because the power of those heroes at twilight gap, whose armor was used to make the gally, are no longer comparable to us. It might be that we and our enemies have simply become more powerful than that mighty weapon. "Made from the armor of fallen guardians" this is why Gjallarhorn needs to return

fifth: the 9 iron lords and their weapons
