3 record breaking hurricanes surprised me and hit the arctic coast within one week as I was traveling in my van to the outlying islands. The hurricanes where the strongest that have ever been measured in the country and reached wind speeds of over 50 m/s, or 111mph. Records where set that where way higher than this again. Red alerts where issued for all along the coast, and I ended up in the middle of it, not by my choice, but when ferries are involved things can get tricky. Here is my history of what I did to survive this inferno of 3 hurricanes in one week.
My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapliitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America - USA and Canada.

This is my complete second winter of Winter Van Life in extreme conditions in the North, living in a van during freezing temperatures. Starting in November I go through the whole winter season of snowy winter adventures from November to April, with snow storms, blizzards, extreme cold, extreme snowfall, slippery roads and some amazing winter beauty as well.
I also show you what I learn as I go from my second winter in the van.

In could not have put it any better...Ethereal music that enhances the beauty of the cinematography. Incredible production values that make me want to visit this incredible place.
During a snowstorm, here's a helpful tip: Gather some fir trees and create a bundle. Position your van against the wind and place the bundle in front of it at ground level. Slowly drive over the bundle to keep it in place and prevent it from being blown away. This helps keep the undercarriage clean, which can be useful if you need to take shelter under the van in extreme cases. :-)

@@Orikix The Norwegian nature is being destroyed at record speed, soon there will be no mountains without wind farms, and no wild forest. All the wildlife are already gone. The BBC does not want to film anything regarding nature in Norway any longer because it is all broken. They prefer Finland and Sweden where you can still find wild animals.

Gorgeous region yet so strange! Safe layover is best with some dramatic landscape. Can only imagine villagers harrowing lifestyles. Phenomenal ferry captain with wind. Raging coast while eating New Mexico’s favorite meal, hamburgers (with green chili) and fries. At 112 mph ideal time for pizza! Glad you’re safe in your van.

I did not realize that Norway suffers hurricanes - especially in winters. I am happy you are safe and well and that the van is safe and well. Yikes. Strong winds and rain. These mountains are the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen. The shapes of them and along the water are soooo beautiful. Loved all the beautiful scenery - so gorgeous. I did wild camping in the past and it was during hurricanes that I never missed going out. It somehow brought me to life so full of energy and excitement, and more than once I was hanging on to the tent for dear life as it was being battered with wind and rain on the South coast of England.

Stunning atmospheriic video, the raw power and beauty of nature, and people say there is no God. I love to sit back with a cup of hot chocolate and dream of being therein the fjyords and moubtains, with the atmosphere of the music remind me of how precious life is and the absolute beausty of raw nature.
Wish I could be there with you drinking coffee and eating pizza while outside a blizzard is blowing. As a child on windy nights I would open my window so the wind whistles thinking of how blessed I am able to be in a warm bed. I live along the gulf coast of United States we have hurricanes regularly with a season dedicated for it-learned something- didn’t know hurricanes go that way
You mean here up north? Yes we get these hurricanes that develop over the north Atlantic, but they are not the same as the ones you get that I believe comes from hot humid air? We usually have hurricanes in late fall, early winter

I’ve lived thru several WICKED hurricanes when I lived in Florida in the U.S. and I’ll tell you from experience, you are correct, near the ocean/water is NOT the place to be hunkered down. And the wind and rain is just the half of it. Just maybe in the event of Storm surge you maybe floating away “IF” you wake up in the morning 🥴 BTW I enjoy a cup of Aeropress coffee as well 😊
Yep, you are right about that, our hurricanes are a bit different though, not so much flooding as you see in the south where you live

Beautiful images. We experience hurricanes in August and September so weather is warm if we loose power or suffer damage. I live in Virginia in the USA on the east coast right in the path of many hurricanes because this part of Virginia juts out kinda of in the Atlantic as the hurricanes come up from the south. So we have had really bad hurricanes, I have lived here for 78 years. I hate the wind and the rain which causes flooding.
I cannot imagine the horror of these winds in areas as cold as your climate. Now I can see it for myself thanks to your spectacular images. Stay safe don’t take chances in those conditions. Your life is most important. My heart went out to all of Europe as they experienced these storms. Much worse than anything i have ever had to live through.

Haha, thank you! I really enjoy making the videos look as good as possible, so I ditched the gopro and iphone and got some better camera that can deliver excellent video in low light. It is actually just hurricane nr 1 at the end of the video. The next 2 hurricanes will be in the next video.

I miss Norway so much, i use to live in Trondheim and a while in Os I Osterdalen near Roros it was very beautiful but also very cold in the winter i catch it -40. I am sorry i did not visited more places while i lived there. I would love to visit Lofoten, Tromso, Nordkap. I feel in one day i will return. You make beautiful videos i enjoy to watch them.
