Just check the front brake fluid line,there are a series of numbers that will give you the batch code and date of manufacture.....thats the year model

Here’s a veteran tip here. After all preliminary checks oil, filter just take out plug and squirt some premix in the cylinder put the plug back in a give it a kick. If she fires then you can proceed to cleaning the tank and carb. Thanks for the video.
Bro, just clean the carb, clean the tank, change the plug and change the oil and coolant before you mess with starting it instead of the pouring premix and gas into it, it’s common sense for a bike that’s been sitting this long

It's been outside you may need to serve eviction notice to some critters that could be living in that expansion chamber.
That’s what I do with my bike choke,cold start and immediately start Revving it. cold engines love that
Ronnie Mac always revs the shit out of the eagles motor as soon as he kicks it, and that thing has lasted 30 years!!
But yeah you’re right, it’s not too good on motors to be revved cold
That bike is so old, it probably can't hold the minimum rpm for at least 2 seconds so he ahd to rev it a bit so it didn't turn off
Waiting abt 1 min at idol then after Reving it is better to do it clears everything out before it gets gummed up
I never bash your methods. And just read all of the hate comments on how you do shit. This one made me comment. The thought process of gas going to mix with 6 year old sludge and creating perfect premix. Or the spitting on the pipe and wipe it. Or the no oil down the cylinder this should if been first. Then tear off the carb second. But. Carry on
Ok bud, I can't watch this anymore. That rev at start is called lean an it is how you get cold seizure marks. So flipping draining fuel clean carb, change oil. Clean filter an mix fresh gas an 2 stroke oil fill tank. Then try to start it. Every time you do this stay first. You are damaging the motor. You did damage to this one without a doubt. Not ragging you man, just trying to help.
Finds a great bike for 500 then does shit like that fucking hell pissed me off.

Agree.. he knows enough about bikes to be dangerous, when it was said that the gas tank had oil and maybe pouring gas in would fix it.. I almost had to turn off the video. He's trying but needs to listen to the good comments made by his viewers. He will bow one up for sure ..

U got very lucky, can tell by the frame this bike has had very little use
Only sitting for 6 years your lucky the motorcycles and stuff I usually pick up have been sitting 20+ years
Sitting longer is better, means that they’ll be in good shape if they were kept inside

I bought by daughters kx65 that was left in a shed for 7years...i got it to fire up easy but every rubber seal was bad...water pump needed rebuilt and after riding it awhile the crank seals needed replaced too along with the counter shaft seal 👍
Also mix 2 or 3gallons of white vinegar (cheap from walmart) 50/50 with water n submerge the pipe in that for 3 hours and the rust will rub right off with your fingers...a cooler works perfect
The clutch was also locked and would not disengage when i got it running...so i bump started it n rode around with the clutch pulled in hitting the power and until it broke free amd its been 100% still 5 years later

Hell of a deal....I bought a 91 RM 250 from a guy about 10 yrs ago that had a brand new rebuild on the whole thing. He sold it to me for 600 because it wouldn't start. Got it home and checked the plug and there wasn't one. Fired right up, idled 3 tanks through it and broke it in and i still have it today, still running strong.
Glad it worked out for you. All manufacturers say to avoid idle and vary RPMs during break in. What do they know?
If only I could find a dirt bike for that money in that good condition its like you live where everything is reasonably priced 😂😂😂
Don't believe everything you are told, unless you watch the purchase video. People do videos to make money. Keep that in mind.

It's definitely a 93 I can tell by the subframe and front forks. Also The Ceet graphics kit kinda gave it away too they were very popular in that era. That was a steal at $500.

It’s a 93 lol, body style changed in 94
Mitchell MX there was actually a bigger chance it was older lol, 90-93 has the anodized blue forks..

It’s either a 92 or 93. Had both yrs. The 90 and 91 was the first year of the Perimeter frame, and all new body style. Then Kawy changed the frames a bit and all new body style again in 92-93 the switches again in 94-98.

Just built my kx100 starts first kick but it won’t make it out of first gear keeps bogging not sure if it’s the carb or power valve love the channel learn more everyday 🙌🏻

When 2 stokes sit like that the crank seals usually go bad and your hand compression tester sadly wont tell you I'd bottom end is shot gotta do leak down test. Or do what I did and not worry about like I did and my bike been stripped 3 years. It's a 77 ir 175 crank bearing insert or race is loose and seems like only option is to but the cases or motor on Ebay and hope it dont have same problem.

I just got a 01 Kx125 so super stoked to see this build
Saw a ton of smoke. My 1997 Suzuki RM does the same and it needs new crank seals and bearings which means the cases have to be split. Eventually all the best old bikes need this especially two stroke.
your crank case seals are blown that’s why it is reviving really high the same thing happened to my 125. since the crank case seals are blown it’s letting more air into the engine then it should which makes it rev way to high. and my 125 was only sitting for 3 years and that happened

It’s smokes really bad because it’s a the wrong fuel mixture and it’s a two-stroke so it’s a supposed to run at higher RPMs.
as much as you mess with bikes and carbs you think you make you a drip tank out of 2 liter bottle with the size hose that most carburetor take. just hang it above the bike with a on off flow valve.

Hey also, the bikes with sight window are supposed to be warned up before it will read right. So that just at the bottom of the window isn't low. Also any bike you buy even more so if it has sat. Do a full service. Then start it. I'm sure you do this to help others. So do it correctly. So then learn to also.

nice of you to finally adjust that idle, i think if you had tweeked the mixture screw a tad it would have stopped bogging down in 1st and 2nd. still not convinced the crank seal is not letting in air because of the variation with the idle.
not sure about the brake bleed kit, but if it works for you carry on.
are you paying your mortgage with this channel or is it a part time hobby?
Don't forget to grease all the suspension linkages and bearings, they will be dry and have old tired grease no doubt.
Thing is brand new the paint on the frame by the foot pegs isn’t even worn off yet

I’d have cleaned the insides to the point that you could eat off it before even trying to do anything else, good effort tho can’t wait to see it running and riding

I had one of those the suspension was the best for the year and a really strong mid , make sure to clean the power valve on that model any carbon will strip out the teeth on the actuator and it is hard to find that part had to buy mine used on eBay could not get new

FYI, once mixed, oil cannot separate from gas. I am guessing someone dumped oil in first, then gas, but by that time, it filled the carb with OIL and it won't run on oil. Mix up some oil/gas, drain the carb and you are good to go.
over a very long time the oil settles into the bottom of the tank and carb, i dont get to ride much at all maybe once a year and it done it with my bikes every time, i learnt to drain all fuel and dispose of it

Hey I just bought a klx 250 and when I start it the rpm slowly start to run really high as it heats up was wanting to know if you had a idea of what is going on if it's the shims, Valves or something else
I picked up a cr250 that had 20hrs on it and sat for 12 yrs nothing leaked but the forks and rear shock leak after barly riding

Do you know how to fix a Kickstarter Thad doesn’t catch
You have to take off the side cover then remove your clutch then right under your kickstarting gear you'll see a gear called a idle gear there is supposed to be a washer behind it and in front it along with clip in front it usually the clip and front washer come so replace the clip and wash then put everything back together and it should catch every time. If you have anymore questions just ask.
