Buy a engine for it
Great vid,u cant save them all fella, but its great to try,and great to watch,at least u can part it out and move on to the next👍
Where the water pump shaft sits in the case looks bad
@@titletownclowns1545I was going to part it out, but I already sold the whole bike.
I want you to build this engine. I mean, we all know it's not worth it, but I want to really see what you can do when you build a really sweet bike. Like, powder coat the frame, make it look like a new type of deal. It's a shitbike already. You're only going to make your money back or a few hundred dollars exta anyway. Why no challenge yourself? I want to see you challenge yourself. I don't want every video of the project, so do like 1 week of project bike and the next one you find and back and forth. Do you burn us out.
I would buy it for 300 bucks also just to make a video. I enjoyed watching this for sure.
Just for fun and to see what's behind the cases. And what this engine & Co has endured and what the weaknesses are.
In this case : WILL IT RUN or WILL IT BLEND !!?? :)
Regards.
Depends on how much it costs to rebuild the entire motor plastics tires etc I'd imagine getting this bike back basically new would cost around 2 grand which wouldn't be a terrible deal considering you would know everything that needed to be is new and not going out buying a used bike and having to take a chance on it being a dud lol and costing ya loads more cash than ya bargained for 😂 Bikes are like boats and will all know what boat stands for

I love the early 90s dirtbikes with their retro styling. Once you get her cleaned up and running, I’d love to see you put the original graphics on it and clean the frame up. It would look amazing! Great buy, great video, as always! 🤙
Added that before I saw the insane amount of rust and engine damage. Yeah unfortunately I would part it out as well unless I had another yz250 project then I would make 1 good runner from both of them
retro styling was objective and functional. Not this abstract art from a transformers cartoon with arrow tips, (that not even the artist can explain), with a front fender that looks like a mechanical broken bird beak, and a rear fender that is so tall, pointing in the air, that you can't get a boot over it with out kicking it if you are 6 foot 2.
The 80's and half the 90's were "the age of reason" in MX. The crap we ride today, (sans how good a 4-stroke does hook up to the ground), is 100% dysfunctional. The entire industry is so irrationals today,---you guys are racing with a freestyle bar set up---and you can't corner worth a crap with out a berm. There was a MX movie in 1986 called "Winner takes all" (on YT), and that ugly 'Hurricane bike" is your modern styling today. I did a lot of plastic surgery on my 2019 YZ250 2-stroke, to make it a rational machine, instead a pile of worthless abstract art. That junk belongs in the garbage, like your handle bar set up. :)
Wow, we’ve winched sleds out of the water after the ice melts in the spring and the motors didn’t look that bad inside!
Man that bike has been thru it, wow!! Your earning it with this one buddy. Great content as always, ive learned a fair amount just from watching you do what ya do so thank you!!
Next time you get a locked up dirt bike motor, with no oil in it. Try filling the bottom end with diesel and letting it sit for a little bit. sometimes it will free stuff up so its easier to take apart.
Why don’t you concentrate on like x2 builds, and complete them, rather than a new one every episode just lately,as we want to see the build from start to finish 👍🏻
i think he waiting on parts
Fax
Because that’s what he wants to do
I'm about three quarters through and it ain't looking good at all. I give it up to you brother you will buy and tackle the worst of the worst. Much luv.
Nice find man enjoyed the video. A little trick for those cylinder jug bolts use the closed end of a second wrench and attach it to the open end of the wrench you were hammering on and it'll give you twice the leverage those nuts always loosen up pretty easy for me using that method no need to hammer the wrench and vibrate your fingers to death lol. Just a tip if you hadn't even seen it before.
You know instead of hurting your wrenches with a hammer try using 2 wrenches at the same time. Basically put the boxend on the nut then add the boxend to that nut and it will come right off!
They're spanners 👀
using a hammer and tapping lightly works pretty well with rusty bolts. Tight bolts deffo use a breaker bar or 2 spanners locked together though
@@MaNNeRz91 yeah definitely wanna tap em with a hammer to shock the threads
@@MaNNeRz91 you by any chance from New Zealand. I had a kiwi friend, only person until nowiv heard use the term spanner,??. But im also not a mechanic.
@@conservativerealist well a wrench ratchets... A spanner doesn't. And a breaker bar is a wrench that doesn't ratchet 😂😂
You have open end spanners and ring end spanners
Makes much more sense tbh lol
@@MaNNeRz91 sounds good😄thanks
I love vintage bikes and have owned a fair share of them over the years. I was beginning to think it had been in a flood. Its a shame it was left outside. do you have a impact driver? it would have been very useful taking off that ignition cover. they last forever, I have the same one I bought 50 years ago. though i must admit I have had to replace the bits twice over the years, still something every bike mechanic should have in their tool box. love the videos
HAHAHA Garage is looking awesome brother. Well earned, well deserved!
i mostly use diesel or kerosene to get old oils and dirt out and its good to use in stukk pistons also, and many who clean old lathe where is own oil chamber use kerosene also to get all out.
you can tell by the tide mark that has been submerged under water for a long time. that needs a full rebuild top to bottom and sand blast the frame as the rot has got in
I would love to see it cleaned up and the casing welded... I know it's a big project but you can do it, and its great content!
Case is done for. Not save-able.
@@763GanderGuys its savable its aluminum it can be welded
would rather see this piece of dogshit be turned into a cube
@@MSprostunts734 id love to have a dirtbike
@@TylerDuysen lol this piece is unsaveable. Idk if you saw the engine but it’s completely rust. Like EVERYTHING needs changed. Do you know how much those 2nd hand parts go for… a new crank etc.. u will end up spending 500$ on just the motor side, let alone that rusty ass frame! Not worth it. For that money you can buy a good condition same year
So wish I could find a decent bike for 300 in the U.K. 😳🤦🏼♂️😂😂 another little gem from back in the day
Had loads of good bikes for 300quid you just gotta know where to look
Depends where in the country you are. Down here (south east) it's almost impossible to get more than a roller for 300 👎 even the crashed ex delivery Peds are ridiculously high priced..
Up north and Wales seems to be cheaper and more choice of dirt bikes and tourers etc
@@MaNNeRz91 I'm in Folkestone I picked up vfr800 for 280 and a fzr1000 for 300 got a ybr on 7k miles for 150 full history and one owner from new I know these are road bikes but if ya make a grand on something you paid 300 for and buy something you want then technically that would be a 300quid bike too
@@jordansbikes819 my problem is I'm looking for 125 or 172 registered as a 125. I haven't done my test yet and I want an off-road bike to ride the green lanes and bi-ways around Kent. If there weren't so many po po about on the trails I'd risk a bigger and more suited bike but Id rather keep it all legit and registered etc. I haven't looked at road bikes either but all the ones local to me are ex courier bikes or in absolute shambles. If I found a decent bike I'd jump on it though. I need something to tinker with over christmas
@@MaNNeRz91 save up and get a dt or kmx then mate deffo worth doing. I wouldn't get nothing with a big bore kits that someone has messed with unless you know the work has been done properly
I love these random bikes u purchased, makes for a great episode.😁🤟🏾
Wow, free crankcase stuffing from mother nature. Lol. Looking good Joe. Like your bench and the reflective white paint. That doorway you created too!
Joe your a wild man buying locked up units and getting them running again! I have all all the respect for you bringing back these classics! I’ve learned quite a bit from watching your videos! Keep up the awesome work!
Which locked up bike has he gotten going?
@@miketyson1717 the rm125
@@2acres933 a stuck piston and a locked up engine are 2 different things. And this clown has NEVER made a bike run correctly! He's a hack and a butcher....
@@johncoleman2495 is your channel better ? Clown
Wow...that's kinda fucking harsh!
Man, either you’re really lucky finding and scoring these great deals on the regular or you’re exaggerating the deal a bit. Either way, good for you. I enjoy watching.
A deal? A rust bucket locked up mouse nest is a good deal? That thing might not even be worth $300.🤣🤣 I can't imagine the cost it would take to restore this bike to be nice.
This bike is to the meat I’m at the beginning of the video if you get this running by the end or get it running soon your the goat bro !
Looks like it's been in the river. Parts bike n move on to the next one. Enjoying your chanel over here in the UK.
It angers me that you get such good deals on bikes where I live I couldn't even buy a bag of bolts for a YZ250 for $300
I hear you on this one. I'm in Massachusetts and bikes are expensive here even in this condition people would want around $1200. I been looking for years for a cheap project bike or quad and still haven't found one
Another nice find Joe 👍🏼 my dad had one of these for a short time when I was a kid, it still remains to be one of the fastest MX bikes I've ever ridden! Just saw you're parting it, shame its not savable.
Highly recommend you use more penetrating oil & less WD-40. 40 isn't lubricant and leaves residue behind. Works better on frozen components.
i bought one of those brand new back in 1992. They were awesome running bikes. i won quite a few trotheys back in the day on it.
The vine growing on the frame confirms that bike sat outside for YEARS.
and also by looking at the engine
probably sitting outside 10+ years
That bike spent 95 % of its life in a wet pille of grass for sure ..probly went fo a swim or two lol ..keep it up awsome vids 👌🔥🇨🇦❤
Actually over time oxidation gasses pushed it out..I had it happen on 83 cr 250...good luck ,hope it turns out well.
I did enjoy this video and I saw the crack in the very beginning. Pretty sure I knew how it would turn out. You can probably get most of your money back from parting it out. Thanks again for your time.
Joe when you're trying to free up your engines use diesel it works pretty decent
Fyi, use the orange coolant on your bikes, better for aluminum parts. Makes big difference.
I’m currently doing a 1993 yz250 am just waiting for the frame to come back from powder coating! I paid £450 for mine!
always amazed on how you find the positive on some of these hooptys ya buy n fix n im amazed they actually run takes alot of patience
smartest decision. part it out and get your money back on the cylinder and suspension, those are both desirable.
This one can be chalked up to the " must find something no matter what to get a video up " category ! You sucked us in , but that's how you get " views " I guess. Congrats you got me !
Use Aero Kroil its 100x better than PBblaster or WD40, its about $20 can but worth it and you only need a small amount. Had a motor same situation locked solid but got it loose and now working on rebuild.
Reminds me of a YZF 426 I bought seized up £600 I didn’t check the cases underneath mmmm parted it out, got my money back... only just though🙄 ,great content as usual thanks 🍀🏴🙏
Use vinegar to free up the crank it works amazing
Dude i enjoyed this video a lot, ive been burned buying bikes like this or trying to get a cheap bike ripping and its always fun to watch and do myself. Wish i had the time now to work on stuff like this again
buy a impact screwdriver. From hobarfright for $20 for those stubborn Phillips head screws. It will save you alot of headaches. ✌
Damn bro you be getting some beautiful dirt bikes and vintage. It’s amazing what you do bro. Keep up the good work
Good to see you finally made a work bench
I'll bet the engine was full of water and froze then cracked the block!! My guess the reason it was parked is because connecting rod bearings maybe???
Best idea part out what you can, hope for the best, lesson learned. To bad man, sucks...
I'm a fan of the vintage yz250 can't wait to see you get this up and running.
Yes!!!! You did it, you did it, you finally did it!!! YOU GOT A WORK BENCH!!!
There's hope for you yet son!!!
Just bought a 95 KLX300 off Facebook for $140! These deals are out there you just have to look every once in a while!
Back in the day that bike was a beast. For me is the kind bike to spend a few bucks to restore. But you know, That's only my opinion 👍👍👍
Wow that's a lot of rust and wear. Thanks for buying the bike so we didn't have to. 💪
These were actually great bikes at the time. =All those parts will sell quite easily. The YZ250 has great power and the suspension was very good. =Double your money for sure.
Also working on bikes this old I would recommend using a propane torch to heat the bolts sometimes they come right out super easy
That model yz is a beautiful bike with the factory graphics on it take it back to original I guarantee it will appeal to more people of that era. Running and looking good that bike would bring 2500-3000 in Kentucky.
nice fisher price tool set!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey we all have been there, drive far to get a bike and boom it’s clapped then the owner thinks he has something special and gets insulted when you offer what it’s actually worth lol ridden hard and put away wet just like all my ex’s 😂😂
I paid 300 for my 2005 CRF450R. It had a bad motor, top and bottom end. One wrench rabbit rebuild kit later and i have one hell of a ripping machine.
Your killing ME! that would be well over 1000 bucks where I come from in the north east.i just fought with a guy for two weeks over the price of an all clapped out xr 100
That workbench is gonna make your floor jealous
Very interesting videos, but i want to know what do you do after ? you complete the restoration or you sold ? because i've never seen a project completed, you only start the bike...and then?
Hey joe! Checking to see if you need a dirtbike with all that rust! Lool hope to see a part 2 on this one
Your moving up joe 😂 garage is looking good are you putting some heat in that shop still like your vids man great job
i have never seen a flywheel in that state !!! was satisfying when the puller got it off though :) nothing stops the power tools lol
I think parting it out is The best. You Will need New crank and bearings plus seals gaskets and allot more to make The Engine working again. I think you can part it out and get around 400-500$ out of it so its not that bad.
You win some you lose some. I'm sure you will get your money back over time. What's up with the Honda xr 250 . Did you find any parts for it?
That’s the nicest $300 dolor bike that’s ever been purchased. The rims are worth more than that alone. And embarrassed to mention the price, dude you should be stoked!! 600 to fix everything from new top end, read, carb, and weld the silencer, new air filter and used missing plastics, you’ll have a thorough bred classic that’ll deff be a ripper that you prolly already know, and why ya risked the long drive. . But based on the condition of the engine and the bottom of the frame that bike was not ridden hard at all. Just owned by someone who didn’t care for riding or his bikes, I grew up with my buddy who had the 126 pink from 92 and that bike would wheelie through5 gear’s. But the former owner should be ashamed and never allowed to own another bike after seeing that air box, but that disgusting type of mess was somewhat typical in older airboxes, and the head look. You should just through oil in there and a carb and give er a kick, and spray some starter fluid in there and take for a rip
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻out........dang, that one is rough.
Plan on taking out the engine and disassembling it completely. It is trashed.
Another cool find where do you find these bikes👍🏻💯
You'll be able to get more that you paid just by selling the cylinder jug and suspension
You know it's a full blown project when you need to use WD on the crank. Bravo, and thanks for the content.
The inside of that motor looks like it was pulled out of the lake great video thanks thumbs up
i got a bike the same for £300 here in thailand but it runs sweet as a nut now it had a few problems i sorted it out same dirt bike its getting sprayed next week new turn signals then its a new bike
Bro you get all the boss bangers
i bet he is in old inter web all night long and watch sites like crazy .
@@broo_shs I do spend a lot of time on Facebook Market Place
@@2vintage Yeah I knew it man.
Should keep it and restore it through get another engine that needs a topend or put another engine in it will be worth it
I had a 90 yz125 & 93 yz250 in my days. Both were great bikes
jeeves there is dirt and mud, but i would drain oil take engine out and take it in parts.then clean all and look its there any parts what can use.
Well Joe you win some and you lose some hopefully when you’re parting it out at least hopefully you will break even ! great video as always though 👍🏼🤩
you know at 11:00 those crush washers are copper right? well i think you can aneel those copper washers by getting them hot and they will be soft again so they can seal again.
I bought around the same age bike yz250 1993 from my brother in law for £150 been stud for the last 11 years in a garden an then i did the basic things to it and it runs like it's brand new so i did a full restoration
You, do good work keep on doing what ur doing
Have seen a few come in to salvage, as bad or worse.if super rare, well spend some time bringing them back to life if possible.
I dont see a diamond in the rough here but I trust your judgment! 💯👍🤙
Please do a rebuilt of this bike, this was de Supreme bike of Yamaha in the 90's. This bike is stuck alle the bearings Need to be renewed and the cilinder and piston should be sealed with new coating. Please give thise bike proper attention it is such a nice bike give IT aal you got
Vinegar actually removes rust. Try soaking rusty parts in it.
I actually burst out laughing a bit when you took off that fly wheel cover lol. Looks like a bunch of dirt and straw was also intentionally scooped into that crank. Holy smokes eh.
One of the fasted yz250’s I’ve ever owned… scary fast!
When waiting on parts - I think it’s good to do few projects because sometimes parts or something else delays the builds - life
Love the content dude!! Been chasing a 94 yz250 in aus, hard to come by
You get that to run without ordering all new parts will be a miracle!!!
I had 88 and 90 YZ 250 both were awesome bikes.
Put the box end of a 2nd wrench into the open end of the 1 your hammering on, doubling the legnth of the wrench for leverage.
It’s 2 stroke there’s not gonna be water in oil the crank doesn’t mix with other cases if it was that case you would have pre mix on your clutches
Nice bike. 300 is a steal!
I hope you plan on giving that frame a once over as well bud. For the safe Ts
Respect from Scotland 🏴 keep doing your thing
Unless your sponsored buy WD-40 or something like that I would suggest using knock her loose ten times better even better than PB
I live in Chicago and I never see any bikes for 300.Only do I see $2000 and up mostly .
Nice man congrats liked the bike tbh
Where’s all the bikes and stuff at besides what I see? Did u sell a lot or have some outside yet
Still enjoyed watching even though she was too far gone! Great video
I wish I could find just one cheap bike here in Florida to work on just one.
Lol rite OfferUp never anything cheap Facebook I yet to see a gem that someone wants to sell 😕 usually get scooters near me that’s all that’s low and worth fixing up quick or just to mess with
