Get a lectron if they will make one for it and an aftermarket pipe be much better
Do you sell your bikes that you fix? I wouldn't mind checking some of the bikes that you had lined up the other day.
How much money do you want for it?
Make a video on chucks s10 zr2 please!
burn the pipe out stick a map gas touch in the end of the pipe n touch the torch off n the pipe will be clean in likd 20 mins
It’s hysterical all the advice people give. I love the videos and the comments.
That bikes worth about £2,500 here in England, well done man, may be worth moving the needle clip up a notch to drop the needle to get rid of the low down rich stutter,👍
Don’t think it’s worth that much in uk 😂 say a grand or half
Worth 3000€+ here in the Netherlands
Don't know if he removed and cleaned the needle jet. If not the air bleeds are likely plugged. I'm not gonna say what i actually think of his approach to...well...anything. Boomer wants to rant SO bad...
Guy here selling 490 for nz $13k
Yeah about 2000 to 2500 here they are that's over 3000 dollars
That is crazy for 100 bucks you cant even buy a pitbike for that!
I don’t believe he paid $100.00 for a $1,500.00 bike. Even non running, it goes for more. Normally he says where he gets his bikes from and all of a sudden he doesn’t talk about it? I don’t believe it.
@@ConspiracyMan5150 I agree. I paid $1500 for mine it was in rideable condition. Barely. If that bike was $100 it would be a roller at best.
Mike Del Vacchio right no bikes gonna be that cheap
Mike Del Vacchio I paid 800 for a good condition blaster
Not even mad he click baited me I always do too but it was a good video
Next time you de-carbon the pipe, use a piece of old chain. Put it down in the expansion chamber and give it a good shake. That will do the the trick!
or just buy a new pipe
@@purple_spriteyeh but that’s $300-$400 now
We used to take it apart and burn it..
Don't forget to Rev it to the moon while it's cold! !!! LMAO
had the same exact bike years ago. loved it, sold it and got a yzf426 which was a whole different monster but that it200 was a fun ride i do miss trail riding with my buddies, could keep up with most newer things out today.
Love the IT... incredibly fast! My brother had a '78 IT175 that I got to ride on occasion. Quickly handled anything you threw at it. Great bike.
I had a 78 it 175 , it was awesome , 6 speed and really fast
bottom and mid range are too rich. Drop your needle one position and verify the air screw, 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns out from full close. There are several good videos on those adjustments on knowing if you have the right setting. upper end sounds good. Also, just because you are not leaking fluid, it does not mean your float is the correct height. Again, good videos on how to do this correctly. Hint, do not just turn the carb upside down and see if they are level, you have to verify the position at which the float needle stops moving. Good luck.
When I saw drop the needle, you actually move the clip up one position on the needle, physically dropping the needle into the high speed jet. Check the jetting tables for your altitude and temps.
@@victorcoots3802 those jetting tables don't always work I've tried many of them on my crf250r and the best jetting for my bike was no where to be seen on the honda jetting table for that bike
Yes, adjusting floats to make needle valve stop leaking only makes a lean condition. If it keeps leaking replace it so that you can have proper float height. You cannot tune properly with float height wrong.
Exactly right. It's slobbering midrange. Too rich there
Those engines were made to wrap. Somebody before you had been dogging it around. Thus the carbon problem. That's a cool bike for $100 for sure 👌
Rear fender brace/hoop is bent up. Fender is pointing up in the air on the end, should sit level with the bike across the top of the fender. common on these from loop outs. take the fender off and bend the loop back down so the fender sits correctly.
I had one of these! Brings back memories... I used to run 3 1/2 to one mix and one step hotter plug and she had great power for an old 200
Crank bearings are dead, running to rich but anyways for 100$ great bike bro.
Bike is fine. Prob just running rich or bad crank seals..easy fix
Yep seals it happens bearing say r fine
I love to scroll through the comments and see all of the UA-cam mechanics try to tell you what's wrong with it
Caleb Miller
I like reading the comments for that as well, even better when their wrong and you tell them🤣👍🏼
There's a few things joe should do first but doesn't...,😳
Clean the tank out on every bike you have just bought
Clean the air box and carb
New spark plug
Get the bike running hot ,.. then change the oil,
He'll do something random like : spray an engine side casing & foot peg 😳😳
& that thing he does when he pours petrol down the fuel pipe from that filthy jug to fill the carbs, when all he has to do is buy an auxiliary fuel tank 😏
@@OldestYoungenInGuidePost I used to buy old bikes in the early to mid-70's. Yamaha 90's/100's & a burned CT3175. Would take my carb/throttle assembly & gas tank, sand the points and set them. Within 15 minutes of arriving, ride the bike to the truck. People were stunned. Bike been setting outside in the rain for 3 years. Once you know the basics and make a plan it's easy. Should be like an operation.
But Boomers don't know anything, amirite?
@@gailtaylor1636
You are totally right 👍🏼
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👏🏼😎
Great video!
I had the IT465 and it was a beast for sure!
I then went into Honda with the old elsnore 250 and then to the CR500 and had many of those, great memories my friend, your videos are very cool!
I mentioned that the lighting coils on these bikes go bad and will over-volt causing bulbs to burn out almost instantly. Check the voltage coming to the lights and you'll probably find over voltage. Lighting coil is attached to stator plate and is easily removed. Just a couple screws. They are pricey but are necessary.
Her : Would you rail me for a PS5?
Me : 2:29
Bruh
that was funny cause it caught me off guard 😂
LMFAOOOO
Still driving it like a 4 stroke
Anthony Guerrera how lol
Jay and John, that’s what I’m saying. He needs to shift it quicker and run through the gears. I’ve owned plenty of kdx 200s along with other bikes to know you need to short shift 2 strokes.
@@jaydensdream714 you are correct. They have a weighted flywheel. Dont rev like a yz or other 2 stroke mx bike. Made for the woods etc.
Man you do a really thorough job going over every possible issue !
@17:40 " Id say she's running pretty good " !!!
Ah .... No !!
There's way more in that bike . You can hear it falling on its face in the lower rpm range . Haul that carb off and start over .
If you have access to a pail of carb cleaner , let it sit in that over night , then be sure to blow out all passages and orifices with compressed air . Verify the jet sizes are correct for the bike . Set the carb to factory specs for float height / Drop , needle position etc .
i watched a few of his vids and all of his bikes are running like crap he doesnt care or something keeps ripping his shit and then is suprised things blow up
Why does it seem like every 2 stroke u get Boggs
cause they’re cold
he messes up the carbs on all of them
Because he doesn’t know how to tune/ jet a 2 stroke
He runs them cold, and then gets on the pipe, basically he is fucking up every 2 stroke he gets
Because he is a god damn idiot lmao I have had my Cr500 for 13 years now and it’s still running good
I know you resale the bikes and stuff.. but why dont you acknowledge the problems as there happening like the thing was breaking up extremely bad almost every gear but you never say anything but it's fun or this is fast I mean ppl can tell if something's wrong I would acknowledge it makes you sound better anyway
Isaiah 24
He has very limited knowledge of bikes and just repeats stuff he's read or heard other people saying., doesn't have the vocabulary of a guy who knows what is what with bikes 🤷🏻♂️
@@OldestYoungenInGuidePost Yeah dudes a hack
@@OldestYoungenInGuidePost I'm 64. Grew-up at Dad's Car lot/garage/body shop and eventually salvage yard. Bought my first bike, a YL2C Yamaha, in boxes. Owner was a kid with cancer. He disassembled engine/trans with all gears off shafts. He intended to build a cut-a-way engine. Died before he got anything much done. It came with the the Yamaha shop manual. I assembled the trans shafts on the floor in living room. It was a GREAT lesson. Big gear goes against smaller gear. But they also have to line up with each other. Shims required. Had to figure it out.
This guy would have no clue. He doesn't understand even the most basic concepts of how engines work. It's actually sad. The whole influencer thing is gonna make things rough for people 20 years from now. NOBODY will know how to repair ANYTHING. Buy and replace will be only option.
Old BOOMER OUT!😉😉😉
@@gailtaylor1636 Why you guys bad mouthing him? He didn't claim to be an expert, just a guy fixing bikes and sharing it with us. I enjoy watching his vids and looks like a lot of other people do too. He knows enough to get these old bikes up and running.
Your still watching is video ain’t you 😂 stop hating just because you can’t do the same 😂
Classic IT. Great enduro bike.. just please buy a new carburetor and you will save your time... love the original plastic and graphics... keep your bike looking stock and let it become a classic. Great message here thanks for sharing this. Robert jr nj here Christ supportive xr650l owner
Theres never great bargains like this bike over here in the UK. I used to love riding this kind of bike, I'm a sucker for old two strokes from the 80s.
Love Yamaha I have a DT175 . You should so keep that bike it’s a ripper 👍🏽
I think there's a lot of baffles to quiet down the IT a bit and they bung up more than YZ's ,what a gem that bike is.
Get the engine out and rebuild it. You got it for pennies. Like one lad said on here that's worth about £2500 over here in england. You can here the crank bearings on it. Its deserves a rebuild mate.
Hi from the UK
Just found your channel
Great video
Not sure if you buy these bikes just to sell on, but how about a long term project on a bike that you will keep until your old and grey
Lots of short video's on the purchase, strip, and rebuild
Keep doing what you do as you do it well
17:11 hahahaha niice!
Own 2 86 IT200s and race the EVO A in harescrambles, some good tips , keep it! As well put in TDR reeds , mikuni flatslide , mill the head , as well if riding in sugar sand stock these bikes suck in sand, if you make a yz490 front wheel fit, or make 1984-85 IT200 rum fit they have a smaller lipped rim letting the front tire spread rider which helps considerably , do not ever change the foot pegs as it’s meant specifically to hit the kicker at a certain spot you can risk snapping the shaft if bolting on larger pegs
The 200's suck in sand because they're underpowered for that specific environment. My 250 chewed up sand like it was nothing. Larger and wider tires would help out but that bike but motor is too small to turn them efficiently . Granted these old bikes would explode on the modern sand dunes but for basic sand pits the 250's accelerate. Shockingly. Don't underestimate them. First hr on my IT 250 I underestimated it got dropped on my ass.
I had a. It 175 and it 200 both of them were stump puller 1st gear bikes i always started in 2nd..
I bet those crank seals sre gone
You can fill muffler with brake cleaner too. Will get that carbon out.
You’ve done a good job mate, and I can’t believe how cheap it was either 👍🏻
I had a 70s twin shock drum braked IT 465 in my early 20s, scared the crap out of me every time
You need to repack the exhaust and do a plug chop! I didn't see the first video... but I'm hoping you looked at the reed valve and pedals also
1980s bikes are modern in all respects. 90s bikes are refined 80s bikes, 2000 up are refined 80s and 90s bikes. All the same, just different doo dads.
Nice job for not coasting, noticed you was pulling in the clutch when letting off at high speed, good man 👍🏻.. As others have said, far too rich low and mid range. All the best from the uk 🇬🇧
Used to have to bypass the self mixer on those bikes though they were badass back in the day
The tank was totally gunked up, but no need for a fuel filter am I right?
Can’t believe u only payed $100
i know its crazy in quebec people ask fucking 6k for a used yz 250 lol
ba-zou-KA and it’s blown up
Great deal for $100.. Doesnt sound quiet right.. sounds like its sputtering at 1/2 - 3/4 throttle. Check packing in silencer.
Bike sounds like it has an improper jet size in it.
You should have your own shop if your that good at hearing it has the wrong jet in it wow you must be Superman's son
troy Aldridge right haha
Well it acutally runs rich you can here it...so smaller jet yes
Charlie bennet I understand you completely it sounds rich definitely wrong jet size sounds like the mid range
Karl Wright II mid range it is. For sure.
Leave those brake and clutch lever mounts a bit loose so they won't break the leavers when you drop your bike.
That's just carbon burning off from inside the pipe.
Check the jetting to make sure it's not running too lean now, I'd say it's been run rich and not run at full throttle for a very long time.
We used to burn out carbon deposits from the exhaust system.
How I clean steel 2 stroke exhausts:
1: Fill exhaust pipe with small rocks, plug ends, shake vigorously in all directions. Remove plugs and dump out exhaust. This gets the bulk.
2: Then I thoroughly soak the inside of the pipe with kerosene or diesel. I do not need to fill it up, just soak it throughly and let it sit for a bit.
3: I get a basic hand held torch (propane, map gas, etc) and blast the inlet of the exhaust until it starts to burn slightly.
4: I lightly introduce compressed air, but not so much that it blows out the torch. This will really get the leftover carbon burning.
5: Once the inside of the pipe is burning, I turn off the torch and turn up the compressed air. The burn will self-sustain like a jet engine until ALL carbon is gone.
This works like a charm. Look it up. However, this will shoot burning carbon everywhere though....so I make sure it is done outdoors, away from anything flammable, with the outlet of the exhaust pointing away from me and not toward anyone or anything that could be hurt or damaged from it. And I do NOT immediately spray it with anything like water to cool it because it could shock-crack. I just let it cool on its own. If the pipe starts glowing red-hot, I stop so it doesn’t melt (shouldn’t though)...let it cool, and start the process again. I then repeat until nothing burning comes out (no carbon left to burn). This is what I do, but obviously has risks. So if someone else decides to try this, do it at your own risk. But doing it the way it was done in this video, with scraping and banging....will take days. And you’ll never get it all. My way is the only way to truly get everything.
The crank seals probably went out and just sucking in the motor oil which is why it’s running rich maybe idk🤷🏿♂️
Nice enduro bike! Those older bikes are solid. 👍
This bike is sick might have to buy one for my channel only got a crf450
dang it might not be the most powerfull or fastest dirtbike but for just $100 and some work that thing is a ripper and i would pay that just for something to do cuz my barrings on my bike exploded and bikes and engines are fun to work on in my opinion!
You should do a full build video btw I love your vids i have a 1996 Suzuki rm 85 board out to a 100 but it’s leaking coolant into oil and I don’t know what to do I’m obviously not as talented as you
Check the water pump seal
Head gasket
They call that a weeping motor
LongIslandP8ntball I fixed the head gasket but it’s still happening
2vintage o my gosh you replied this is the highlight of my life time your my actual idol I will go look at the pump right now thank you so much
Please answer this question. Have you ever ridden a pe175 Suzuki? Thanks
Why is that stuff coming out that pipe thing? I never had problems with it doing that before
The fire is pretty good content lol
How much for it once you've finished with it ,
Love to ship it to the uk
That’s a nice bike ! Probably need to repack silencer
Sounds exactly like my kdx down low, which is running extremely rich
$100, that's insane brotha, deal of the century. I would of told the seller that's too low. I'll give ya $200 😂 😂

Nowhere. It's fake
Stolen stuff sells cheap?
Hint from a old 2 stroke guy for knocking the carbon out of your expansion chamber. Go to the hardware store and get a long screen door spring and shove it in their and twist it around. Can ever hook it up to a slow elect drill if you want. Be surprised at how much crap comes out Bob M.
I love this one here,, it’s a lady from the eighties
Just don't look up her dress!
Don’t use your elbows to wheelie. Stand up Compress the front forks and when the bikes comes up barley give it gas and you will *hit 12 o’clock 🤙 I ride a rm400 so y’all might need more gas. Have fun and remember the back brake !!!!!
Barley 🌾🌾🌾🌾
it runs pretty good brother but it does need work. I would still do a top end on it. but it runs good for the age.
Dude should save up and get an air compressor! Looks like they guy before you ran this thing super rich! Victor is right, low end rich and mid. LOVE these old ITs!!!!!
cloud you clean the pipe by running some sand trough it and sake it like mad?
Wow cool vídeo!! 💙💙🏍️💛💛
I feel u would benefit greatly if u tried down jetting. Maybe drop 1 size on the pilot.
And don't forget to rev it to the Moon!!!!! Lol
Whats tha noise it sounds like a tiny bell is going off everytime you excelarate
Do you have any yamaha it250 and it490 1983_1984 if junkers come across too. Love old bikes. I fix them up
You can clean out that expansion pipe easier by putting in a couple of handfuls of gravel and shaking it for a minute or two.
What's the air box looking like
How many gears does it have?
Great video👍👍👍
Where do you find these bikes? Here in eastern MA, that would cost at least $1,000
Sounds like it is running rich on top end. Use a smaller main jet
I need this bike tho the faster you go how good it sounds
Sick bike
why didn't u use that heat leaf blower thing to clean the pipe, like you did with the quad I think? Did ya forget or does it not apply here?
The pipe had already started on fire so everything was burned off on the inside. I figured it was easier to just chip away at the old carbon and dump it out of the pipe.
That sounds lumpy as hell especially low down in the range. Running too rich by the sounds of it
Been waiting patiently all day for this 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻sounds good when you let off its got that Yamaha rasp love it
Nice bike
This bike looks great
Ive had the same kawasaki catch on fire twice from a carb backfire🤣
Ok so this might sound dumb but a very good way to clean out a pipe is to poor gas in the pipe and light it on fire I did it with my kx250 and it feels way better
Isaac Gomez
Attaching a heat gun to the pipe and switch on and leave it for 25 minutes, it first starts to smoke 💨 then it really starts smoking, then when it's done you can put 5 nuts inside with some petrol, block up each end and shake it for 10 minutes then drain it off and count the nuts back out, wipe it clean.... done !
The deals are definitely around... ive bought a 93 k125 in very clean condition for 300$
You checked the bulbs ??
rule number 1 when checking lights , check to see if the bulbs are burnt out, 2 conductivity in the wires
I checked to see if they were burnt out by visually checking them. I did not test them though.
Sorry for being picky, but it's continuity. Anyone with any sort of electronics education behind them will make light of this. Continuity is to test if there is a break in the circuit, or it continues through, hence continuity. Conductivity is used to measure mostly resistors, or resistance. Since almost all common conductors have the same conductivity it is rarely an issue in 12 volt systems, unless there is the need for a resistor, of complex circuitry involving a bread board, or mother board, which then would more than likely would be under 12 volts 99% of the time
Don't know if You resolved the issue with the bike or not , but check the right side crank seal...
It's nearly 40 years old. Needs both crank seals. And he needs to learn how to start a 2-stroke. Whacking at the throttle does nothing. No accelerator pump. Never seem him use the choke for cold start either.
LOL! that's hilarious kid. You bought a mobile chimney fire. Btw these old tanks smoke like hell it's just their nature that and oil leaks are expected.
In church can’t watch! RIP
Ryan Winn dang
but you had enough time to comment seems legit
Love this bike
About to watch it
sounds rough for an IT with a dg silencer on , should be a lot crisper than that. have you checked the inlet rubber is not cracked?
sounds really boggy low and mid range no powerband. check those crank seals , you have a compression tester so why not use it
He has no clue what he's doing. Had an auto mechanic in my home town that was the local hero. "He can fix anything" was the word. I graduated trade school and went to work at dealership he was working at. He was a complete hack. Absolutely ZERO understanding of any of the science needed to accurately diagnose anything.
