Well here it is the tear down of the 1989 CR500R. So happy to be at this point. A couple of chats along the way with some surprise findings but mostly just Music and wrenching.
Great video as always. I’ve never seen welding that bad before on a case!!! Wow. Looks like stick welding instead of mig or tig. Even in that condition that case would be worth a lot over here!
Owning several CR500s. The 89 just looks RAW and Huge brand new or weathered, never got to find one yet. Absolute one of the best if not the best looking bike of all time for that era
I picked up an 89 just a few months ago and have the same silencer. It’s an answer silencer and stamped on top at the rear. My front mount was broke as well but any easy fix with a little tig welding.
@@TNTMOTO My buddy has a stock 1990 silencer. It's a little dented up but all there. I can ask about it of you'd like. Someone should have a nice stocker though.
This is the most beautifull model ever produced in my opinion the 1989 model. But having this said, are you sure this is a 1989 model? Because the 1989 model was fully red including the frame. The 1990 and 1991 model did have a white colored frame. So it could be a replacement, but i'm curious right now if it is really a 1989 model.
Great video as usual. Glad to see you getting back to making more vids. How do I contact you I may have some parts you need. I have 4 500s from running to fixing to run. Little easier to find in the states, but getting harder to find.
Usually when you tear a bike down, you see the secrets the last owner tried to hide from you. Scary stuff. I reckon if you can find you parts, you should be good to go.
Awesome video!

THIS is a build !! Highly interesting for me !! Good grief was that ever some welding there on case.

Nope free, the '85 forever stands at the door with the 'Sexy Best looking Award' of all time!
Very nice video🍻 long live the 2 stroke
It's official - YOU are BACK!
Love it pal love all your videos pal
Thankyou
Pipes are pretty easy to restore, just takes some air pressure, some heat, and some patients, with a side of elbow grease.
I need it to be like new, I am hopeful all the dents will come out.

Great too see the amazing work you do and how througher you are on all you builds johnny from Australia
watching from the UK.. subscribed already... definitely watching this build, can't beat a 500 👌😉
Thankyou for watching !
That's definitely NOT a stock silencer.
Looking forward to the build. 👍
Why do you say that?
@@TNTMOTO
Both ends of the stock silencer are removable.
@@keithpeterson3447 ahh good point.

The frame is red on this bike. Someone just painted the sub frame.
@@TNTMOTO Ah ok, that clears things up.
That welding is how i imagine my aluminium welding would look if i tried it.
My local engineer welds up my alloy cases and bell housings...using rods!
That seemed to come apart without any major difficulties. Looks good so far. 👍
Stay tuned for the engine tear down. some wonderful surprises.
Awesome job can’t wait to see the final product👍
Swingarm bolt gave up too easy !
Sad when you look at the quality of the welding. Use a Tig Torch!
Yes not sure who did, not sure when it was done. Bike came like that.
How did the water pump look?👀
Next video is the engine break down but 89 is aluminum so should be all good.
Nice man! Enjoyed the cursed series - LOL
Too bad most people choose the cheapest aluminum welder they can find. A good tig welder could have made that look good.
Does anyone know the part number of the right hand case (sprocket side) ?
Mine is also damaged like this one. I am restoring a 1988 CR500
Look it up on Partzilla.com
Anyone know where to get a 90’ CR500 seat cover thats the correct color…logo on back…but has the ‘no slip’ or ribbed surface?
Probably Anthony Moore.

I'm excited to watch that back come back to life! It's a Shame Honda discontinued the CR 500. All these big boars need a decompression button
