@@robertramirez1082 Yeah idk I don’t think there’s a single game only on PS5 worth playing besides Returnal and that’s on PC too. I mean it’s cool if you never had a ps4 or an Xbox one then yeah get the newer consoles (which is what I did I got a Series S under 300), but if you still have a ps4/Xbox and have a PC too, then no reason to get a new Gen system.
@@jesuspernia8031 I have 2 high end PCs (One connected to the 4K OLED in the living room), with Game Pass. It's pretty much a better Xbox. I did get a Series-X a little over a month ago, just to have possibly last Xbox with an optical drive, and to have BC for OG Xbox and 360. My 2 Xbox 360s have crap DVD drives. I got a PS5 about 18 months ago. It runs a lot of PS4 games in 4k, with better frame rates. The PS4?Xbone CPU was garbage and it held back the PS4 Pro/One X. Days Gone is actually playable during the hoard areas in the game, when playing it on PS5. It's frustrating on PS4.
@@jesuspernia8031 I think this console generation is gonna sell more PC's than anything!😂 Seriously most Quest 2/3 owners already been buying PS's for PCVR. The best XBOX games still run better on a PC. Playstation's best stuff is available on Steam. It's kind of a no brainer at this point.
Same here, 1st gen I have not owned both Sony/Msoft consoles along with a gaming PC, Nintendo is the only current console I own and will buy the next Switch/console most probably. The only game I am jealous of not playing/having access to is Demons Souls remake, not paying 500 just to play that.
Honestly, buy a Handheld PC. Fr. Its Console, PC, portable, Games are Cheap as hell and you don't pay for online. All of the Big 3's Exclusives are on PC and every System EVER basically is emulatable
Which is ironic cause I was always late to the party when it came to buying a new system. Hell I never had a ps4/Xbox one. The only newer one I had was a switch and I ended up giving it away to my friend. I ended up getting a Series S early on in the generation, and it just didn’t hit as much as the others…

Thats honestly the best part of this Generation. I'm DONE with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo Every single one disapointed me at one point or another. Nowadays you can buy an Playable PC with a 970 or 1050 Ti and Okay i5 for like 100 Bucks. Investing in Consoles instead PC honestly just makes you lose value. Honestly speaking.
There's just no point in gatekeeping the games for these systems. Frankly speaking, all of the ps exclusive games that got released on steam just look and run way better on pc.

And games we see now are kinda delay of a trends back then when they started.
Have you ever considered that they may have ps4 pro and are waiting for ps5 pro since it was 2 years in before could get hands on normal ps5 and the rumors and leaks of the pro was already spreading by then. Also by this time their normally be a price drop on console but due to part shortages this has not been possible.
@@Joseph-wh5of They might not have the ps4 pro but still be waiting for the 5pro or even some kind of slim equivalent. Money's tight for most people and a mid generation refresh can be a kick in the teeth to everyone who only just bought the original console. @@killroy2014 I agree, but they went a bit too weird and niche when it came to the game library and promotional materials so it couldn't get off the ground. As someone who never owned an xbox or playstation growing up. I recently started buying xbox one games / series x this year. Most of the games I own are fall under these catergories. Remake, re-release, remastered, (insert franchise name) collection, or new release of a major franchise Farcry / Asssasin's creed / Resident evil 2,3,4 / mas effect / doom / forza / red dead redemption / tony hawk 1+2 / bioshock / crash bandicoot / spyro It's safe to say 99% of games that has come out can either be bought on xbox series x / ps5 / ps4 / switch / pc... that came from ps3 / 360 & older titles being ported over. We are oversaturated with older games /w lack of new ip AAA releases. When we do get one it's usually a flop, buggy, or a dissapointment... rarely a banger We finally reached an era of gaming where it no longer matters which console you have due to multi-platform releases which is overall great for us as the consumer. I can safely say that the only games I had for my xbox one x was Forza horizon 4, the outer worlds, & ac valhalla up until this year. Nintendo is the only one that is consistantly releasing new games on top of doing remasters / remakes / & ports. Putting out bangers. Especially 2023 -now
@b4rs629 Nintendo is the only company dropping games. The other companies are completely lost. They can't make games anymore. There's a demand for games due to console sales but there's no supply. Crazy.
Maybe for Xbox it's the worst. Playstation has tons of games. Just this year there was like 6 exclusive releases already, like Helldivers 2 that already sold 10+ millions of copies, same with Stellar Blade and FF Rebirth (which is considered a "flop" by Square, yet sold for millions lol).

Physical is pointless for games because the games don’t come finished. You need an internet connection. You will update for fixing bugs or balance adjustments. So games have updates for 5+ years. Imagine buying a fighting games physically, it’s obsolete a month after launch if you don’t update it. And furthermore you can always find games ( and all the updates) on the 7 seas. I've spent this gen buying tons of ps4 games on sale for dirt cheap and playing them on ps5 looking better. My backlog is so big I do not care about new games , I will get to them probably when ps6 comes out at this rate.
I'm extremely happy my buddy gave me his pro when he got a ps5, missed out the whole gen and now a whole gen I can go through for cheap . Nothing on ps5 ever caught my attention to look into terms of library/just re releases of stuff I can get cheaper
I agree. Sony/Xbox backed themselves into a corner by not leaning into exclusive Next-gen games early on. By chasing after the previous consoles' user base, they've effectively prevented these new machines from maximizing their potential where it's most needed(early on) order to keep developers' morale high, and encourage a steady stream of games. Now you have a situation where developers are hesitant to develop big exclusive content because the current user base isn't high enough to justify the risk. The problem gets worse, with Microsoft basically forced to unofficially tap-out, and Sony having a harder time than usual in giving many PS4 owners a reason to upgrade. Neglecting the importance of system-selling exclusives have DIRE CONSEQUENCES! This has potential to create a vicious cycle of failure that's difficult to recover from. Nintendo has an interesting opportunity here. Not only are they completely immune to the fallout from this situation, but their game development philosophy has rewarded them with the position of being a kind of "last hope," or at least a much needed life-line that 3rd-parties will be glad to take hold of, allowing them to keep their heads above these rough waves that the industry is facing. As long as Nintendo maintains their philosophy of providing exclusive system-sellers, Switch 2 will be a breath of fresh air, and may be cemented as the #1 console to own over the next few years. Very interesting times...
Well it makes sense initially why game studios and companies kept releasing games for older gens as well. No one could get their hands on the newer consoles, especially the ps5, when they released. Why work hard on games that no one would be able to play for an indefinite amount of time? They wouldn't make as much money only selling to that audience. However, they could have switched to purely new gen games around 2022, since more people started to get their hands on the consoles then. Anything released in or after 2023 has no excuse lol.
My little brother entered the gaming universe with a PS4, I always tell him that he missed the best gens. He's on a ps5 now and stuck with the same 2 games.
I've been playing a lot of PS2 and PS4. MY PS5 stays unplayed unless my kids want to play goat simulator 3, and i sold my Series X. I used to think the 7th generation was the worst but now i agree - this generation is a joke. Gen 8.5 to be more precise.
Seventh gen was awesome, 8th gen was also really good. I think every gen up until this point was incredible and had something to offer alongside a major advancement in video games. Some more than others but all worthy and superb. This gen though, something seriously got wrong. It’s the first gen that had nothing significant to offer yet. No games, no advancement of this medium. It’s not next gen, it’s PS4 pro version 2 that’s all it is up to this point. Worst gen ever.
This is dead on. As a dad I had to sell off my xbox 360 to focus on raising the kids, so from roughly 2012 to 2021 I skipped the PS4/Xbox One generation but I kept on eye on the games of that generation. So, when I finally could game again I was able to get an X Box Series s and later X at retail price in 2021/2022. And much to my surprise I found myself buying lots of past generation games I missed out for pennies for the dollar. Deux Ex Mankind Divided, Quantum Break, Max Payne 3, Prey etc. It's been great. I found myself immersed in those games and it really hit me with a great warm and fuzzy feeling. Now on the Series X I decided to give Far Cry a try so I got FC6 and I was disappointed. Those graphics are not bad, but they don't look next gen. The only current generation game I really got into was Cyberpunk 2077. That has great graphics for a console and was totally worth it. But TBH I'm not really impressed with this generation. I know there are some great games out there, but I don't see that many MUST HAVE games out there worth investing my time and money.
Sony and Microsoft just don't understand how important smaller games are. They only want gigantic games with ultra-realistic graphics that take far too long and cost far too much money to make. Games such as Kirby Returns to Dreamland Deluxe Luigi's Mansion 3 Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Pikmin 4 Mario + Rabbids and more sold very well and are super fun and Were super easy to make
Matt Booty even stated how much Xbox needed more small games that turned into smash hits immediately after shutting down the studio responsible for Hi-Fi Rush, itself a small smash hit that came out of nowhere. They know they need them. They're just horribly incompetent. There's no other way to explain it.
you mean smaller games like stray, humanity, tchia, animal well, kena, and I know xbox had a ton as well. Just becauses game not made 1st party does not mean the platforms are not supporting other developers.

@@SidneyRJames Nintendo should have the money and recourses to make another hybrid console at least as powerful as the Series S. They’re purposely underpowering the consoles for ZERO good reason and nobody can tell me otherwise.
What I find disappointing, is both consoles claim to be 4k 120fps (on PS5 it 8k) but most games run at 4k 30fps or 1080p 60fps. I understand it is up to the developers to make the games run at those speeds not the console, but what is the point of developing a game on the most powerful consoles available if you can't take advantage of everything it offers.
Agreed, It's always like this. Ps3 was supposed to be 1080p gaming, but it was usually 720 or maybe 1080i... but less often 60fps.. often frame drops in the teens. What the hardware CAN do, is often more than what we will routinely see performed... Reminds me of the internet I pay for.. 🤔🤔🤔😆
Nintendo understands the concept of exclusives. "Consoles are just boring boxes nobody wants to buy, so exclusive games make people want those boxes" or something like that.
Still on my ps4 pro. No reason to get a ps5. Almost 5 years in and barely any games and no good exclusives. Gravity rush 1 and 2 are my favorite ps4 exclusives. Fun and innovative. That hardly exists now.
Even 3rd party games are making games for ps4/xbox 1. Everyone needs to let those consoles retire. These new systems are being held back by older systems and greed.
The Switch is definitely an early 9th-generation system with great exclusives. The Wii U was indeed Nintendo's 8th-generation system, but it’s increasingly forgotten as every good game from that system has been ported to the Switch.
We have reached diminishing returns with gaming evolution, generations were something to look forward to. Now they're slight updates on older models. There's around 19 years between Tetris and Halo. And around 19 years between Halo and Halo Infinite.
Once they went to X86 it was over. The new consoles are just PCs with custom interfaces. (Lookup AMD 4800s Desktop Kit) There's talk about "Taking advantage of the current systems" but APUs are not that powerful. The current systems are basically a Ryzen 5 / 2070. They are already tapped, next gen only games prove that like FFVII, Alan Wake 2, Hellblade 2, etc. BTW you need to play Dead Space, the first two games are incredible but you can totally skip 3.
Xbox Series X and PS5 both have a CPU equivalent to an underclocked Ryzen 7 3700 with 8 cores and 16 threads. The RDNA 2 GPU on the series X is similar to a Radeon RX 6700XT and the PS5 is similar to an RX 6700 non XT. RDNA 3 is barely faster than RDNA 2, so it doesn't really make much sense to do a hardware revision or release a "pro" console until at least RDNA 4 becomes available. Maybe at that time we can also get an X3D Ryzen 7 chip to get a significant boost on the CPU side as well.
Modern Devs seem to have had an Idiocracy devolution where some games look WORSE than previous games in the same franchise and/or from the same dev companies: Battlefield, CoD, Assassin's Creed, Bethesda's games. Hell, Cyberpunk may be prettier, but it's story and world are still a downgrade to the Witcher 3. Sports games look almost the same as a decade ago but only with greedy gacha mechanics. The game file sizes have gotten insane. "Free" live service content charges the equivalent of hundreds of dollars for the same if not less content as a couple $14 DLCs a decade ago. THREE CoD games fill up a hard drive now; so obviously devs have also forgotten how to compress things. I swear the world is devolving before our very eyes in some respects.
Yes this is true! PS3/Xbox 360 were the last great generation in gaming history. Both were fighting like crazy for best console and tons of exclusives. Last gen the PS4 was king and Xbox team shot themselves in the foot out of the gate. Current gen has been disappointing for both but PS5 still seems to be the better console games wise. I own a series x and think it’s great but man the games are lacking
Switch has been king for the entire 9th Gen Console Era regardless of whether it is technically 8 1/2 or 9th Gen. Personally I believe 6th Gen was gaming's golden age which was why PS2 held the record of best selling console until now with Switch rivaling it in sales. The 2000s were gaming's greatest decade & I have so much nostalgia from those years.
@@fritzthecat8158 Early Wii & DS models could play GameCube & GBA games respectively. I totally agree with you like I usually do! There aren’t enough PS5 exclusives that warrant an immediate console purchase although there are a few beautiful bangers. Especially since PS4 is somehow still getting new releases like you said. I don’t care about new CODs anymore, but Black Ops 6 is getting a PS4 release haha. Oh and I have a friend that dropped $1200 on a digital only PS5 back in 2020……I still give him crap for it hahah. I think titles releasing day one on Gamepass hurt’s those respective games’ sales. Thank you for another sick video man!

Thanks man and I hope you’re doing well as well! I’m looking forward to your Gameboy adventure haha.
There aren’t any games that I got obsessed with. Last gen for instance had so many games I could play for ten hours straight on a day off and then two years later throw it in again and play through it (Bloodborne, uncharted, ff15). None of these new games inspire me to lose myself in them. I think the heart and soul of the industry is gone and it’s all about making money.
Nintendo has the most sustainable business model. Going lower-tech and lower-spec was the smart play. Nintendo is one of the only companies that realizes they make video games... not "technology". GAMES. Sony has completely lost this perspective, and I'm not sure that Microsoft ever had this perspective. Nintendo is the last REAL game maker around that happens to also make consoles. I think Nintendo has seen this coming for a long time. With age comes experience, and this company has seen many adversaries rise and fall. Nintendo saw their competitors promising better and better production to the point where there is no return on investment and only their frail fundamental IP to justify hardware. Now the third parties are fleeing and afraid of partnering. Nintendo have been playing the long game and it has paid off in spades. Nintendo thrives in limitations it allows for more creativity Sometimes too much freedom means no direction But within a limitation you can challenge yourself how to be flexible within it like a fun puzzle you experiment with PEOPLE NEED TO STOP GIVING A DAMN ABOUT GRAPHICS IF YOU WANT GOOD GRAPHICS WITH REALISTIC TEXTURES GO OUTSIDE AND HUG A TREE NINTENDO WAS SMART AND REALIZED WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS TOO SLOW TO Nintendo realised long ago that competing in graphics is pointless. No matter how powerful your console is, in a couple of years it is going to be obsolete, and anybody who really cares about graphics is going to buy a PC, because that is where the best graphics are. Instead, Nintendo focuses on their strengths: * Nintendo likes hardware gimmicks, because it makes their console stand out. Nobody bought a Wii because it had the prettiest graphics, they bought a Wii because they wanted to play with the motion controls (An idea so good both the “superior” PS3 and Xbox 360 tried to copy it). The same thing is happening with the Switch: people are buying it because they can play their games anywhere, and can move between a handheld and a home console. They like to focus on giving customers something that they cannot get anywhere else. * When Nintendo did try to compete on power, they didn’t do very well. The N64 and Gamecube were the most powerful consoles of their generations, but were both massively outsold by the “inferior” PS1 and PS2. The Wii was the weakest of its generation, but outsold the PS3 and Xbox 360. This proves Nintendo’s approach to console design clearly has something going for it. * Performance is expensive. Performance is even more expensive when you are using it in niche applications. If Nintendo wanted to have something as powerful as an Xbox One or PS4, while still being portable, then it would probably cost twice as much. This means that Nintendo would have to charge more for the console (probably not something the market could sustain) and/or eat a hefty loss on each console sold. Instead, by not focusing on performance, Nintendo make a profit on each console, and keep it at a price point where more people can afford it. * One of Nintendo’s biggest strengths is their first party titles, all of which rely on stylised graphics and strong art-style. It doesn’t matter that the console is not very powerful when Pokémon, Zelda, Mario (and its millions of spin offs), Smash Bros, Metroid and Donkey Kong are incredibly popular and all don’t care about high end graphics. Why make your console more expensive to make and develop for when you don’t even need it? * The companies that tend to focus on graphics are third party developers, such as EA, Activision, and Rockstar. If the console sells well (like the Switch currently is), then those developers will find a way to bring their games to it or, failing that, make unique games that work best on the hardware. * By not competing with the other consoles, or PCs, in terms of power, while offering unique gaming experiences, Nintendo has comfortably found a niche as an optional second system. If you have a PC, PS4 or Xbox One you have very little reason to buy one of the others, because they are all basically the same. Nintendo’s consoles offer things that none of the others offer, and thus can easily tempt people with another gaming device into purchasing it. * Nintendo has also found a strong market in all ages These people don’t care about graphics, so why waste money on giving them something that they don’t want? An families don’t care that the Switch doesn’t have the best looking games, they’re just happy that they can have fun Ever since the Wii era Nintendo has. Been trying to train us that power doesn’t matter Whimsy and imagination and creativity and memorable experiences are more important to them And y’all still aren’t getting it Move on from Power it don’t matter Nintendo doesn’t want it They think it’s boring They don’t care Official quote from iwata: "Even when we were going to launch the Wii system, there were a lot of voice saying 'Nintendo should stop making hardware'," Iwata recalled, talking to Gamasutra. "The reasoning behind that was Nintendo would not have any chance against Microsoft and Sony. The fact of the matter was: I did not think Nintendo should compete against these companies with the same message and same entertainment options for people. "We have not changed our strategy," he added. "In other words, we just do not care what kind of 'more beef' console Microsoft and Sony might produce in 2013. Our focus is on how we can make our new console different than [others]." The switch is faithful to iwata’s legacy .
Nintendo sales are better because it’s a family oriented console for kids. It’s the same reason why movies like “the lion king” and “Toy Story” do so well. Family and kids stuff sells like hotcakes.
The ERA of graphics is coming to an end. Both Sony & MS don't know what to do with that. While some people really just play games to look at pretty graphics that market is super niche and honestly will have a $3000+ PC anyway. Nintendo was right about the console space. It's about offering an experience you cannot have on a $3000+ PC. Even little things like Physical media separate Console from PC and both Sony & MS want to eliminate that... meanwhile it's one of the only reasons to buy a one of those systems over a PC. The Switch has MANY benefits that PCs at the time couldn't touch. Today the PC market is emulating the portable aspect, but still lacks much of what the switch offers. So I honestly see both Sony & MS being pushed out of HW or they need to come out with a Nintendo Wii style system that's 100% different than anything they've ever done before. Financially it makes more sense to dump HW and just sell games on all remaining platforms. With them out of the market someone like Nvidia, or Apple, or Amazon might make a go at it. I think it's time for new blood, and Nintendo is the template... Otherwise just buy a PC.
"I'm like a dog chasing cars, I wouldn't know what to do if I caught one, you know.. " I feel like the endless pursuit of graphical fidelity at all costs limits gameplay, and just makes it harder to produce games in general. It also makes taking risks on new concepts something companies don't want to do. They can't afford anything out of the AAA formula, because the games just cost so much to make. It leads to stagnation and encourages leaning on easy to mass produce formulaic games. You can get a relatively good PC for only slightly more than a console, and it can do more. And it has indie games which never go to console. Indies can do more with less budget, and aren't constrained by a perceived need to add more polygons that won't be noticed anyway.
I think we reached a weird point where PS5 and XSX are simply the definitive Editions of the PS4 and XB1 Kinda like Switch is the definitive Edition of the 3DS and Wii U
@@vogonp4287 that’s because it is, and honestly anyone who wanted that switched to PC. Sony bringing games to pc and phasing out of physical media are really the final nails in the coffin. Alienate the collector scene, and offer the same gaming experience as pc was always doomed to fail. MS seems to be leaning into this as most people game on windows and windows is now 100% spyware. They get paid to data harvest gamers now. For them that’s the real end goal, and of course have as many cash cow live service games as possible and effectively leave the traditional gaming market all together. Sony is the one company I don’t think realize what they’re actually doing to themselves.
This is the slowest and least impressive generation ever.... we are now at the point where the consoles don't control the generations, the game engines do. And it is slower to iterate the game engines than it is to iterate the console hardware. I think 9th Gen is just starting now as Unreal Engine 5 games are starting to appear and Unreal Engine 5 is fixing it's bugs & performance issues.
You're exactly right. And the last time Sony got a big head, believing and I quote, "Next-Gen doesn't start until we say it does." Is when they put out the ridiculously priced ($600) PS3 60gb console practically a full year after Microsoft dropped the 360.
I own all three consoles and the only one worth my time anymore is Nintendo switch and even that's winding down. This generation is the one where you don't miss much.
I remember hearing someone say that Nintendo having weaker hardware might actually be a blessing, and given the 5 year developments of some Sony games… yeah, might be
Great video man. Your rant is word for word why i don't have a PS5. There are no system seller at this point. NCAA 25 almost made me upgrade but i thought why spend that much money on a system for just one game? I also bought an entry level gaming pc because there are so many games i can play on Steam and GOG that totally eclipses what pS5 has to offer. My PS3, PS2, and PS4 all get regular workouts as well. I think another mistake is the tiered PS+. Both Xbox and PlayStation still charging to play online is asinine but the tiers make even less sense. Plus should be just the free games and discounts on digital games and maybe a subscription to Crunchyroll all for one price. The online charge was one of the main reasons i bought a pc. Unless things change pretty fast this might be the first time i have skipped a generation before. Everytime i go to some of the retro gaming spots i notice more people who have PS5 buying PS2 and PS3 games because nothing current gen is enticing them, even to the point of them saying the are going to trade in or sell their PS5. Sorry for the long rant man but thoroughly enjoyed the video and it touched a ton of good points. Look forward to your next one
I personally do not see myself owing either console. Unless of course, I find one really dirt cheap and I'm taking pennies on the dollar. PC gaming since 2014 and no looking back.
Personally i never understand this console thing. Handheld devices i get it but why would i want inferior version of PC (console is PC made from PC components) to play technically inferior games due to hardware limitations? And on top of that PC market is unified while console market split and you have different consoles with their own proprietary software and hardware incompatible with each other for no reason at all other then money grab.

“We don’t make games for the PS5 cause no one is buying it!”. You have to have a product first before people are going to make that console purchase. We aren’t buying the damn things for decor. The reason why so many people got new gen consoles was the promise of a ton of new exclusive games that couldn’t be played on last gen, but obviously that didn’t happen. We just kind of expected it since that’s always how it went in the past. I think people will know better in 2027/2028
I remember when the PS4 had no games but it picked up in 4 years. Almost 4 years later and PS5 exclusives are in a drought. I am loving Horizon FW and Stellar Blade right now though, could just play those two for a while.
The cope "yeah but the games don't run good on PS4 lower frame rate and load times" Ya know I played HFW on PS4 and it ran just fine. I didn't get the dlc because they left us out and that's fine. If they don't want my money fine with me. I'm currently playing my huge backlog going back to PS3 and ya know what's crazy.... The PS3 has a large library of fun games.
I’m playing cyberpunk 1.61 on ps4 pro and it run fine (with a ssd). 60 fps is good to have, I enjoy it when I can, but I can live without. Up until recently I was playing a lot of xbox 360 as I own almost 200 games for it. So, going back to the ps4 after playing on 360 for so long feel next gen to me. Its a great console and I dont feel the need to upgrade. In a couple years I will enjoy Alan Wake 2, BG3 and FF7 Rebirth on ps5 or ps6. I can wait.
I did the same with God of War Ragnarok. Honestly, I’ve been using the time to getting around to some PS4 JRPGs I missed out on instead of getting a PS5, and I’ve been having a great time.
One problem is that the big franchises (Fornite, EA Sports, GTA plus Sony Interactive titles) bring is so much money that there’s little incentive for Sony to focus on changing this model. 5 to 6 hugely popular games is worth more to them than variety and quality.
The concerns I have is that the companies will cease physical media. I tell people, if you can't hold it, you don't own it. In my digital library I've lost over $1,200 due to games delisted or removed from access. With the 9th Gen pushing more digital, I'm concerned I won't have games any longer. Thank God I still have SNES and Genesis games.
@@SilverTester they hate micro transactions and quests locked behind deluxe editions of games and devs who don’t listen to the gamers. They praise good games and devs like Larian with BG3 and From Software with Elden Ring. They don’t hate games, only the aspects missing from games that should be there.
I remember the Resident Evil 4 being available on the PS3 and GameCube. It seems like many companies are focusing on re-releasing old games rather than creating new ones, which can be frustrating for consumers. Additionally, the trend of game add-ons and subscriptions can feel overwhelming. In my opinion, I don't see the need to purchase a new console just to play games that I already own on my PS3 and PS4. It's disappointing to see the gaming culture heading in this direction. Then Microsoft buys all these gaming studios just to shut them down. Seems more like a business move to try to slow the sales of PS5 systems. The gaming culture is actually dying.
Im tired of REPLAYING all my ps4 games…. 98 percent of games i play on my ps5 are ps4 games… we need to just group together as consumers and NOT buy ps6 or xbox whatever the fuck they call the next one
Since selling my PS3 years ago, I got a PC and haven’t looked back, most of the games you buy on console you need to download the majority of the game anyway and with a PC you can play every generation. A lot of the PlayStation and Xbox exclusives have come or coming to PC anyway. The PS5 portable screen thing was also a complete waste of time.
Part of the reason is the affordability of a current gen console, you have to remember people in other countries cant afford current gen consoles which im sure accounts for Sony/Microsoft financially globally too.
I bought a ps5 exclusively to play ff7 rebirth (which proves the point that big exclusive games bring in console sales). I have a couple other ps5 games lined up after a finish ff7 (ratchet and clank, spiderman 2) but other than that, there's sadly not much to look forward to. I've been loving my time with ff7 and astrobot, I just wish we had some more games on ps5! It's crazy how little there is when I bought my ps5 presumably half way through the consoles life cycle!
The PS5 is a glorified PS4 and 4K player for me. It did allow my older sister a console to play Kingdom Hearts on though. Edit: load times in Destiny 2 on PS4 are atrocious
I'm 41 now, my first consoles were the Master System and the NES. In relation to there times, this has easily been the least enjoyable generation of console.
I don't have PlayStation 5 yet. I don't think I want one. I'm satisfied with the PS4 and the old games on it. I also got the Xbox Series S. There are a LIFETIME worth of old games that I haven't played on BOTH systems. So, there has been PLENTY of old games to keep me busy. So, I mostly play old games. Today's new games?? It seems like most of those so-called AAA games are just the same old game over and over again. It feels like they only swopped out the sprites, models, characters, changed the music, changed the titles and then re-released the same game again to make a quick buck. It feels stale. I don't feel this way about old games. With old games, I'm brought back to when there was more innovation. BTW, some of the Indie games are on the rise too.
great video. i competely agree. I have an Xbox Series S but i use it mainly for game pass and play older games on it. I have a PS5 too that hasn't justified itself nearly as much. FF 7 rebirth is the only exclusive i've played an enjoyed, with 80% of the games in my library still releasing on PS4. Nintendo Switch has had incredible games each year. Currently playing Paper Mario.
definitely the worst. I have a PS5 and the only games i care to play is PS4 games from before 2016. I have an Xbox Series X too and all i play is 360 games. Now adays im just emulating older games on my laptop because more fun to play
Same here. Got a Series S only to play some older games I like. I’ve been playing games like The Force Unleashed, Sonic Unleashed, and Assassin’s Creed 2. Also been playing a lot of PS4/Xbox One era games like Dragon Ball FighterZ, Battlefield 1, and Assassins Creed Origins.
13:38 Wii U was their real 7th gen console they tried to compete against 360 and PS3 way after their release (other of the reasons it failed), so yeah Switch is an 8th gen console.
This gen pushed me to build a PC and I’ve been strictly consoles my entire life. I’m holding onto my PS5, but it will strictly be PC and Nintendo going forward when the PS6 and next Xbox are announced. Their games eventually lands on Steam/Epic but Nintendo is super strict and doesn’t like to share so that’s that lol.
Reminds me of that Spinal Tap part where the dude says his amp goes up to 11 and they ask "Is it louder?" To which he replies "It's one louder." That's this gen.
This generation of gaming sucks major. The Xbox 360 and PS3 was the best generation in gaming period. I only use my Xbox one x for 360 and one games anything new I play on my PC and PlayStation 5 and still have my PS3 hooked up been collecting ps3 games like crazy now.
Love that you are a car enthusiast man. One of the few people who actually bring up Gran Turismo games as a big PS Game. That analogy of the Big Engines dont mean much when you can get a GT-R with the V6. Also I love that R34 GT-R on top of your PS4 games collection. My favorite/Dream Car. I also think PS5 will age pretty well. So if you get it or have it. You will be covered in the future.
Love the Gran turismo series, so much history behind it. Thanks man you can’t go wrong with an R34, personally the R35 is my dream car. Appreciate you watching man!
@FranchisePlayyer Most Definitely. Been playijg GT since PS1. GT2 was my first experience of the PS1. My PS2 came with GT4 included, but GT6 was the game i put the most hours into on my PS3. Loved it so much, messing around with the gear ratios and stuff. The R35 man. Such a well-built monster! It's still super surprising how they made it work so damn well. All good, bro. Im planning on getting a PS5 Slim at the end of the year. I'm saving up for it currently. Crazy thing is it costs about 12K over here in South Africa... that's the digital version. 2K more, and it'll have the disc drive... so looking at videos eventually led me to your channel and videos, and it's pretty great content bro. Now with Dragon Ball Sparking Zero releasing, Spider-Man 2, in the future the Wolverine game & not sure when GT8 will come out hopefully on the PS5... i wanna be prepared for those bangers. Sorry for the long ass story im typing.
Worst gen by far, and I've been playing since Atari & NES...It's bad. The variety of games is lacking but so is the quality and the content within the games as well. These devs are focusing 90% of their budget on stuff nobody wants or asked for instead of just listening to us and giving us some of what we actually want to spend money on. Developers and publishers have become arrogant with their decisions.
New subscriber. Im actually skipping this generation n still doing great w my ps4 pro. I was planning on getting the ps5 when MGS Delta n GTA 6 comes out but may wait for ps6 cuz you know damn well they'll remake both n run so much better.
The writing is on the wall concerning the 9th Gen Consoles & beyond. The Publishers are concerned with one thing only. (PROFIT & MORE PROFIT). Microsoft was wise to play the long game with GamePass because Xbox have not historically outsold the PlayStation brand. They have increased all tiers of GamePass over the past few years & will continue to push the envelope. Sony's PlayStation Plus service has increased all tiers as well without really offering anymore value. The corporate idea is "Kill physical media then make them pay more for owning nothing." It's called planned obsolescence. With previous generation consoles, you could pop in a disc or cartridge then immediately play the game in complete immersion. No required paid subscriptions, delays of updates, no game server outages, no network outages or anything; just play the game & have fun. Its gotten so bad that they don't even put the entire game on the disc anymore. My point is that these companies don't want their consumers to own anything. They just want mindless sheep purchasing whatever they produce; good, bad or lackluster. We only own the license to purchase an individual copy of games we buy until the company that owns the rights is sold or shuts down. I'm a physical game collector who also has a digital games library as well. The one thing that I do know is that my physical games still play as long as I have hardware to play them on. I can't say the same for digital games. The 9th generation of consoles foreshadows a bleak future of console gaming. I agree that both the PS5 & Xbox Series X are no more than glorified PS4 Pros or Xbox One Xs.
You think this generation is bad wait till you see when the ps6 releases. I just remember that the ps4 has already been jailbroken and overclocked so just imagine when the modding for ps5 gets better you won't even need a ps6 if your ps5 can run modern games and emulation with linux just face it modern gaming is crumbling because we have more options other than buying from Sony, Microsoft or even Nintendo's ecosystem
This is indeed the worst console generation. Aside from the lack of games, a lot of devs these days care more about pushing a political agenda than making quality games. Ubisoft are a good example of that. I have been avoiding them ever since the reveal of Watchdogs Legion, although the first Watchdogs was my favorite game of 2014. Over the past few years, I have started collecting older games that I never got around to playing in the past…mostly PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. I have payed a lot to get some of them, like Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill Origins. I also bought the PC version of Silent Hill 4 on GOG, and I was able to buy Silent Hill 2 at a Salvation Army thrift store. We were previously in the golden ages of gaming, and I didn’t even realize it. A lot of modern games have been dumbed down compared to many of the classics. And while I wish Nintendo would make more powerful consoles, I think they have come out with better exclusives than Sony and Microsoft during this console generation.
The only one's pushing a political agenda into gaming are the conservatives who throw a fit every time a developer tries to add any sort of representation. If it was just whenever they try to force diversity where it doesn't make sense then that would be fine. But conservatives don't want non-white/non-straight representation AT ALL! One good example of this is the pronouns in Starfield. It's a futuristic sci-fi game where you're supposed to be able to create your own character. Why shouldn't trans and non-binary gamers be allowed to create a character that reflects them?
I remember the sixth generation of video games consoles was a bit of a struggle with the PlayStation 2 in the beginning. The first 6 months in North America had virtually nothing to play that was really exciting and worthwhile. It wasn’t until games like Onimusha Warlords and ATV Off-road Fury came out that there was a compelling reason to own a PlayStation 2 and then about 6 months later in fall 2001 a flood of great games started coming out with Grand Theft Auto III, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Gran Turismo 3 from the summertime earlier. Now things are much different. The ninth generation consoles have so little to offer. I do appreciate the quick loading times with the M.2 solid state drive. The DualSense controller for PlayStation 5 has some great features like haptic L2 and R2 triggers and built-in microphone. I bought the 25th Anniversary Edition of Gran Turismo 7, Spider-man Miles Morales, and Spider-man 2. Just about every other game I have bought are also available on PS4. I’m playing more PS4 games on my PS5 than new generation PS5 games. It shouldn’t be this way almost 4 years in. I don’t think anyone could have seen this outcome.
I actually disagree with you on this one. @playstationaintdead has over 1200 physical ps5 games , I just counted mine yesterday, 454 total(467 with my sons doubles). I’m not even half way or maybe just half of US titles. The switch is another example although it’s been out for 7 years. They’re over 2000 physical games on switch. We are at the end of physical media. So I do understand your point. Most companies are pushing out indies and download only titles. I was collecting just to play but now since all these other UA-camrs getting money out of what I was using as a hobby. I am now collecting for value purposes rather than playing but I do still play just not as much. With our eyes and mind capabilities, the graphics on ps3 and up is as good as it gets for us. They are trying to integrate immersion more. But if we’re just sticking to the basics then next gen will be the same as this and last. There needs to be a different way to play…VR they’re trying…just too expensive. Always enjoy your videos bro! Hope all is well.
454 physical is insanely impressive, I definitely think ps5 games might end up being pretty valuable with less people buying physical these days. I think you’re making a move that could really pay off down the road Thanks for watching as always bro, hope all is well!
That’s an impressive amount of physical PS5 games that you and your son have! I’d like to reach your level within the next few years haha. I’m not knocking you or anything, but I reckon more than half of those titles had PS4 releases or were multiplatform. I wish PS5 had more exclusives! Cheers!
Do people forget there were 360 releases in 2017? For half the lifecycle of the new gen, they always keep some support for the older gen because they know people wont upgrade right away.
The console generation where I play my PS4 games at higher frame rates and higher resolution...
I cannot play any Spiderman games on my PS5. They all crash at any setting??? Should have just bought a PS4 Pro. It's basically the same thing.SMH...

I mean it’s cool if you never had a ps4 or an Xbox one then yeah get the newer consoles (which is what I did I got a Series S under 300), but if you still have a ps4/Xbox and have a PC too, then no reason to get a new Gen system.

This is the worst generation of games. This is embarrassing to witness. No games whatsoever, it's crazy.
As someone who never owned an xbox or playstation growing up.
I recently started buying xbox one games / series x this year.
Most of the games I own are fall under these catergories.
Remake, re-release, remastered, (insert franchise name) collection, or new release of a major franchise
Farcry / Asssasin's creed / Resident evil 2,3,4 / mas effect / doom / forza / red dead redemption / tony hawk 1+2 / bioshock / crash bandicoot / spyro
It's safe to say 99% of games that has come out can either be bought on xbox series x / ps5 / ps4 / switch / pc... that came from ps3 / 360 & older titles being ported over.
We are oversaturated with older games /w lack of new ip AAA releases. When we do get one it's usually a flop, buggy, or a dissapointment... rarely a banger
We finally reached an era of gaming where it no longer matters which console you have due to multi-platform releases which is overall great for us as the consumer.

Those are shit games actually.

But the 7th Gen had the based Xbox 360, the based ps3, and the based Wii.
Worst gen ever.
how is the 7th gen worse than the 8th when the 7th gen had way better games? The 8th gen was a shitty 7th gen and the 9th gen is a shitty 8th gen.
@@stewarde17 I meant that their first party franchises never get smaller games and spinoffs. Nintendo on the other hand has Mario Kart. mario party. mario RPGs. Nintendo should have the money and recourses to make another hybrid console at least as powerful as the Series S. They’re purposely underpowering the consoles for ZERO good reason and nobody can tell me otherwise.
It's gonna be expensive as all heck. I won't get it for at least 3-5 years after it releases.
Sucks to be you. I'm loving all the RPGs and action games so far this gen.
100% these devs need to start showing off the power of these consoles
Agreed, It's always like this. Ps3 was supposed to be 1080p gaming, but it was usually 720 or maybe 1080i... but less often 60fps.. often frame drops in the teens.
What the hardware CAN do, is often more than what we will routinely see performed...

Yeah absolutely no use of buying ps5 maybe only bc for gta 6 in future?

The Switch is definitely an early 9th-generation system with great exclusives. The Wii U was indeed Nintendo's 8th-generation system, but it’s increasingly forgotten as every good game from that system has been ported to the Switch.

We have reached diminishing returns with gaming evolution, generations were something to look forward to. Now they're slight updates on older models.
There's around 19 years between Tetris and Halo.
And around 19 years between Halo and Halo Infinite.
9th generation of gaming pushed consumers toward pc and the Nintendo Switch as both Microsoft and Sony failed to innovate or even produce games.
Nintendo switch is fo 6 years old.
The ps3/360 era was truly something special
Switch has been king for the entire 9th Gen Console Era regardless of whether it is technically 8 1/2 or 9th Gen. Personally I believe 6th Gen was gaming's golden age which was why PS2 held the record of best selling console until now with Switch rivaling it in sales. The 2000s were gaming's greatest decade & I have so much nostalgia from those years.
@@fritzthecat8158 Early Wii & DS models could play GameCube & GBA games respectively. Wii Virtual Console brought back many games & not just Nintendo's they partnered with Sega for Master System & Mega Drive as well as Commodore 64. Gen 6 gaming was still strong for quite a bit of the Gen 7 Era as well with Wii getting enhanced PS2 games that were still releasing.
I had fun with Wii & it's hard to believe that it is already 17 Years Old. DS had so many great games & I regret smart phones ending the way games once were. My life is in another phase now although I will always have my memories.
Since most folks on Xbox rather rent games than actually own them, I don’t see many people spending the extra wad of cash to own it physically when they already have the ability to play them for a monthly fee. Thank you for another sick video man!

This generation is like the 8.5 console gen. That's what it feels like.
Nintendo thrives in limitations it allows for more creativity
Sometimes too much freedom means no direction
But within a limitation you can challenge yourself how to be flexible within it like a fun puzzle you experiment with
PEOPLE NEED TO STOP GIVING A DAMN ABOUT GRAPHICS
IF YOU WANT GOOD GRAPHICS WITH REALISTIC TEXTURES GO OUTSIDE AND HUG A TREE
NINTENDO WAS SMART AND REALIZED WHAT EVERYONE ELSE
IS TOO SLOW TO
Nintendo realised long ago that competing in graphics is pointless. No matter how powerful your console is, in a couple of years it is going to be obsolete, and anybody who really cares about graphics is going to buy a PC, because that is where the best graphics are.
Instead, Nintendo focuses on their strengths:
* Nintendo likes hardware gimmicks, because it makes their console stand out.
An families don’t care that the Switch doesn’t have the best looking games, they’re just happy that they can have fun
Ever since the Wii era Nintendo has. Been trying to train us that power doesn’t matter
Whimsy and imagination and creativity and memorable experiences are more important to them
And y’all still aren’t getting it
Move on from Power
it don’t matter
Nintendo doesn’t want it
They think it’s boring
They don’t care
Official quote from iwata: "Even when we were going to launch the Wii system, there were a lot of voice saying 'Nintendo should stop making hardware'," Iwata recalled, talking to Gamasutra.
Our focus is on how we can make our new console different than [others]."
The switch is faithful to iwata’s legacy
.
I feel like the endless pursuit of graphical fidelity at all costs limits gameplay, and just makes it harder to produce games in general.
I think we reached a weird point where PS5 and XSX are simply the definitive Editions of the PS4 and XB1
Kinda like Switch is the definitive Edition of the 3DS and Wii U

Game development takes long these days. That's one of the reasons we don't have a new proper GTA game on PS4/Xbox One
The craziest part is it’s about to get worse especially now Sony truly knows they have no competition, they’re about to be more divas than ever. 👀
Their behavior this generation and yesterday's state of play (as of writing this) perfectly illustrate what you're describing.
You're exactly right. And the last time Sony got a big head, believing and I quote, "Next-Gen doesn't start until we say it does." Is when they put out the ridiculously priced ($600) PS3 60gb console practically a full year after Microsoft dropped the 360.
Hmm, Xbox's recent showcase would prove you to be wrong. Although Sony will get worst as they have nothing coming out of note.

Let’s not forget the console paradox, no games to play= less new gen sales= last gen releases= no games to play

Can’t go wrong with the ps3 library, it’s amazing
Every game for 9th gen is either a Remake, Remaster, or a complete failure of a storyline game, they can only pump out COD multiplayer.
One problem is that the big franchises (Fornite, EA Sports, GTA plus Sony Interactive titles) bring is so much money that there’s little incentive for Sony to focus on changing this model.
5 to 6 hugely popular games is worth more to them than variety and quality.
I sold my PS5 and bought a PC. That’s how bad it got.
9th gen is the reason i turned to pc gaming lmao, cant beat the ps3/360 era! it was at its peak and there's a good chance itll never recover.
I don’t mind the slowdown in output. For years I’ve seen my backlog grow and grow and now I’m finally getting a chance to put a dent into it.

Same, I'm also tilted to play ps4 games on my ps5

This gen has been terrible. If you get rid of every cross gen game, remake/remaster, sequel, what are you left with?
One exception is ff7 rebirth. Other this generation has been awful. The last good generation is the 7th gen. Wii ps3 and xbox 360 era
Ff7 rebirth is a disgrace to the original game.
@@riverblack123 your opinion. I think it's a masterpiece
great video. i competely agree.
Ditch your series s and get an x. Games have been delisted such as fear, king kong and every valve game. The disc's work if you have those.
There are so many good games that came out after 2016.
@@user-vi4xy1jw7e very few. I can count the games on 1 hand.
1. Xcom 2
2. Zelda Breath of the Wild
3. Judgement
4. Dave The Diver
5. Persona 5
Playing some Octopath Traveller 2 on my Switch earlier.
Ps3 7th gen is peak gaming and is my favorite console of all time
Ps3 was the beginning of the end😂

PS3 and XBox 360 are both awesome. I grew up on the Xbox side but I recently got into PS3. I love them both. Both companies are unrecognizable today.
@@btwiusearch2 PS3 the coke
Reminds me of that Spinal Tap part where the dude says his amp goes up to 11 and they ask "Is it louder?" To which he replies "It's one louder." That's this gen.
This generation of gaming sucks major. The Xbox 360 and PS3 was the best generation in gaming period. I only use my Xbox one x for 360 and one games anything new I play on my PC and PlayStation 5 and still have my PS3 hooked up been collecting ps3 games like crazy now.
Yes! This generation sucks. I’m a HUGE xbox guy, and I didn’t even buy a Series console. And my ps5 basically collects dust.
Great video!
Nintendo doing good then. more focus on the game than the hardware
I really don’t care about Generation and if they are lacking games I’m still playing hello neighbour gta 5 and Minecraft
That’s why retro consoles are superior ,don’t need good graphics or a bunch of micro transactions to have a solid fun good game
What's your favorite gen brother?
New subscriber. Im actually skipping this generation n still doing great w my ps4 pro. I was planning on getting the ps5 when MGS Delta n GTA 6 comes out but may wait for ps6 cuz you know damn well they'll remake both n run so much better.
...and if you replace the ultra slow HDD with an SSD (which, incidentally, have become quite cheap btw) you even get the faster loading times.
no hdd is faster
@@Datacorrupter234 hard drives are not faster than a solid state drive
Worst generation ever. I feel scammed that I bought the PS5. The only good thing is GTA VI releasing on current consoles.
😆🤣😂 I am still playing Spider-Man on the original xbox release back in 2002 (PS2 era )
PC is the way! More especifically Linux PC. There is no way in hell these corporations are owned by good people.
And they just announced ps5 pro for 800$ 😂
The consoles are fine the people has lost there way.
Yeah the consoles have a ton of untapped potential

@@why-m3g they suck if you have an xbox
@MAR-jq7co Funny how you spoke the truth, and Xbox fanboys immediately got triggered lol
The problem with new gen vonsoles is that they release a game but they also release it on the last gen. Just release it on the new gen consoles.
I think you’re making a move that could really pay off down the road
Thanks for watching as always bro, hope all is well!
That’s an impressive amount of physical PS5 games that you and your son have! I’d like to reach your level within the next few years haha. I’m not knocking you or anything, but I reckon more than half of those titles had PS4 releases or were multiplatform. I wish PS5 had more exclusives! Cheers!
Most of all those games are garbage. I scrolled through the whole Playstation store and nothing is as good as old games.
The issue isn't a lack of games. The issue is a lack of QUALITY games. Even the few good ones are inferior to their 8th gen predecessors.
