Bravo, a thousand times bravo! Your bases are so distinctive, everything from the way your train stations are seamlessly tucked into your city blocks, the way you subdivide your modules with walls, and how you resolutely refuse to use underground pipes except when you're absolutely forced to by necessity, comes together to form the fingerprint of your creative process. It's truly a pleasure watching your monuments to organization come to life!
Love this stuff dude! Is there any chance you could provide blueprints of your sections? Including like you early game smelting etc etc, would love to make a base with this kind of throughput! Keep up the good work
Amazing stuff. How do you even approach the intricate design of a base like this? My bases tend to just be organically sprawling things that just sort of happen and I design as I go, even in my biggest mega-base of 2700+ SPM. I can't imagine having the entire base designed in advance like this seemingly has to be done.
It may sound simple but i just take things one step at a time. I have the basic layout in my head (copper, then computer chips, then iron and steel, then science etc) and i just build them one at a time until i'm happy. How much copper do i need? How many blue belts is that? How many trains will i need to achieve that amount of copper throughput? I then build keep building a block until it has those basic characteristics. At the start of this timelapse i made a spreadsheet (i made a video about it, spm and oil) and that tells me all the things i need to produce to be able to achieve a specific spm target so it is just a case of making all the copper the spreadsheet tells me i need. I have some basic rules about train capacities and throughput (see train tutorial) so i can calculate how many trains i need. I did all of this pretty much the moment i finished the starter factory before laying a single belt of the main one. What the spreadsheet doesnt tell you is how to lay a train network so it doesnt jam. And boy did this factory jam up quick. Im working on a sequel.
Have you watched the walkaround? I'm not sure if there is much more I could talk about that I didn't cover in that video. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them
@@Leandro_ Ah, I see. I think I'm ok with that. It's not really possible for me to build a 'vanilla' factory nowadays because at the very least I need a mod to make the timelapse. Not to mention that I've been playing the game for nearly 8 years, vanilla got boring a long long time ago.
If I had recorded the ore mining and included it in this video then it would probably have added 4 or 5 minutes to the video. It isn't as straight forward as you might think.
This was depressing to watch… I’m 200 hours into what is my “best” base so far and I’ve got 80 spm output! You may have answered this before but what mod do you use to delete ore patches?
It is actually quite incredible how much time you save when there aren't any biters to manage or patches of ore to seek and plunder (because they are literally everywhere). This base took a lot less time than I thought it would
Is any of that blueprinted or was it all hand crafted? It look amazing but I only picked the game up this week so after the first couple of minutes I have no idea what I'm looking at :D
HA!! You have no idea what you are getting into!! Maybe you do I built the first block and then blueprinted it to build all the others. I like to build stuff, that's what I love about the game, so I generally don't use blueprints from previous factories.
@@theotherbigfoot I've gone a long way down the rabbit hole now but I'm so fed up of ploughing through power poles in my cars that I've been looking to set up some kind of road system through my base. I remembered this video so had a look at yours but your yellow undergrounds confuse me, it looks like they are spanning far more than 4 blocks in the video. Are you using a mod to extend their range or am I just wrong?
@@Spo0nFeD Usually I would use the standard vanilla underground belts because I think it is part of the challenge. What I do then is use the blue underground belt and its 8 block limit to dictate the base. If I have a 6 block path with walls either side then a blue underground belt will span this. Using those vanilla u/g belts on a base the size of this one would have been a complete nightmare, it wouldn't have been fun at all, so I downloaded a mod which had u/g belts with extended range.

What is the point in playing any game? For me at the moment I am in a mode of taking on the big factorio challenges that I think will be fun and that I might learn something from. Case in point, this factory didn't work. The trains jammed up. So I learnt that I didn't have a full understanding of the train network. And I have spent the last couple of months trying to build an improved version where the trains do work. That was the point for me. The point for you (and everyone else) was that I didn't just make a factory I made a timelapse video as well, which you at least watched a portion of. 0:58 I know it's some ore delete mod, but i really want to believe this is really really sped up footage of you mining the entire coal patch by hand.
That is exactly what I did, how dare you suggest otherwise!! (sarcasm)

Dude, that is the kind of comment that seriously puts a bounce in my step. Much appreciated. I'm glad you liked the video
ooh, that's very geometrically pleasing. I love how symmetrical it is around the central bus
Man, I love your build style. Each of these is a work of art, and every one feels like a love letter to the game. They're beautiful.
Heres me a 500hrs in still struggling to supply one rocket.. This is truly staggering man, watched it 3x and still im gobsmacked
Wow. Amazing, your builds look the best out of the one's I've seen. This is.. insane. Love it.
All your Timelapses are great but this one is really epic! And the Music fits so well. :)
Great video. I'd love to see the process of how you designed your city blocks.
I made a walkabout video about 4 hours ago, it is processing. Shouldn't be far off but who knows with youtube

The mods used to build pipes (and other stuff) deadlock the base in vanilla factorio.
Deadlock?
unfortunately, the save game, when opened in vanilla factorio, have items missing and the factory halts.

Very impressive !
When I see 1K or 5K science per minute I've always wondered - Which schience? Red? Blue? Purple? White? Which one is it?
All of them. Simultaneously.
How do ypou make this timelapse? Is it need special mode.
It's a mod, TLBE. I made a tutorial (ua-cam.com/video/cAcba1zo5mg/v-deo.html)

how do you open this save?
As far as I am aware you just copy the zip file into the factorio save game directory and it should then appear in the game load list.

so, If someday I want to make a base like this, since the beginning I have to desing all the things or I can transfer to a megabase after the rocket?
There's no rules dude, you can do it any way you like. I left the rocket launch to the end because that's how I wanted to end the timelapse.
