      Honestly, I get the feeling that sis was never truly spoiled, but was more forced to act the part in order to stoke mommy dearest's ego. IE, the same vein of 'spoiled' that children of abusive parents are when the parent feels shame in public, so instead of abusing they go the other way, and if the child doesn't cooperate, when they're outside of the public eye there's hell to pay.

      @@Undomaranel lol. Why would a true narcissist want to do that? They live in their own universe where everything has to evolve around them, where they are ALWAYS right and ALWAYS the victim of others. If you have that fixed mindset you don't have any drive to change.
      Remember the narcissistic prayer.
      Everyone who manages to "grow out" of it wasn't a true narcissist to begin with, but only had some traits that made them resemble them.
      Real narcissists rather die than admit that there is anything wrong with them or what they are doing.

      Thankfully, emotionally stunted and damaged people can heal, grow, and change their behavior little by little... It may take a literal decade, but I've known a few people who grew from childhood terrors into decent adults. In both cases, I had so much visceral dislike stored up that I never could isolate that from the mature adults they belatedly grew into. I wish I could in some ways, but mostly it's irrelevant. One's dead, and one's a single mom in rural CA, while I live 12,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean.

      Man, I’m seeing this go down with my friend’s family. Big bro is golden child and she is the runt. They favored him (a car at 16, attended his after school activities) and it hurt her.
      She now makes WAY more than her brother and parents combined now, and spoils her in-laws with nice vacations. Calls her in-laws mom and dad, and they see her kids all the time. She’s never taken her side of the family on vacation ever, and tells them to ask their favorite instead whenever they ask her to come home for holidays. They weren’t invited to the wedding and they have never met her children. To the family’s credit, they’ve at least recognized that they were wrong and are trying to mend fences, but she doesn’t talk to them much and has let them know that they’re on their own financially. She’s convinced they only want to play happy family because she’s got deeper pockets.

    STORY #1
    It always amazes me how detached from reality Karens can be. OP's birth-giver (she doesn't deserve to be called a mother) actually got it into her mind that she could claim OP's property by sheer force of will, law be damned. She might have been under the impression that OP would be a pushover, but frankly even that seems like nonsense - OP had been no-contact with her for years.
    OP, if you're reading this, I wish you and your girlfriend happy lives. Your father did a fine job raising you. And you're right; your birth-giver is going to burn in Hell. She's a cheater, a liar, a thief, and shows no remorse for any of it.
    UPDATE
    This is a better ending than I expected. OP managed to rescue his sister from their birth-giver's brainwashing and narcissism, and she's actually remorseful! OP is genuinely a hero. He could have told fiancé "She's not my sister anymore, so it's not my problem", he would have been in his right to, but instead he extracted them.

      Hmm, everything worked so perfectly. No emotional turmoil or struggle, OP had the upper hand the whole time, the therapist completely treated his sister and undid a lifetime of her mom’s manipulation, and the mom satisfyingly got everything she deserved and more. If only real life was this way.

    Ya know, the sister and BF had a pretty good case to file a wrongful eviction against the mom just as a final nail in the coffin. Even if you own the property and the other person doesn’t pay rent, once they stay there long enough, you have to file an unlawful Detainer to remove them and can’t just throw their stuff out

    This story illustrates very well the fact that narcissists can't love anyone more than they love themselves, not even their golden child will know that true sacrifice.

    • @GRAYgauss
      @GRAYgauss 3 роки тому +2

      From personal experience as the scapegoat child: You're not a golden child because you're liked more, you're a golden child because you disobey less. Anything that breaks their expectations is disobedience, even if it's good for everyone involved.

    • @karaoconnoraliasraidra
      @karaoconnoraliasraidra 2 роки тому +3

      I’m guessing the narcissistic parent will expect the non-golden children to think, “I just need to be obedient like Golden Child and I’ll be treated well too!” when in reality nothing the non-golden children do will be good enough in his or her eyes. Some parents are pathetic.

    • @GRAYgauss
      @GRAYgauss 2 роки тому +3

      @@karaoconnoraliasraidra Definitely. My mom tried, this is sorta emotionally fueled so maybe over the place: I've been told stories that even as an infant I couldn't stand being held by her, preferring my brother, godmother, and grandparents. The unifying factor of those people is they were all some of the most selfless I ever met(I also got to build that view myself), I figure selfless people respond to a baby while narcissists force it to do what they want...Even a baby can tell the difference, is what I think happened. She took it personally, I think.
      My earliest formed memories were literally of apprehension towards what she was trying to convince me of. "What she does and what she says aren't the same." I didn't even have words to say it yet but this was the biggest confusion in my life. She kept gaslighting and a 5yr has to believe mom. It doesn't feel right, but I just don't know and she says she loves me more than anyone else. For whatever reason I knew it in my gut from before I was conscious, I disobeyed her, acted out. I was very polite and obedient otherwise. This only pissed her off more. I eventually did bend to her will in a sort of cognitive dissonance. It didn't pacify her at all, just gave her rope to take it farther and farther. I did have some protection up, deep down I knew she didn't care about me. However, you want to believe, you don't want to accuse, you want to fix...
      TBH, still have issues to this day. Using that confusion and goodwill, ah man, I still haven't escaped her wrath. All my life she did the baby equivalent of forcing me to hold her, right through panic attacks that made me blackout... All while claiming "I can't hate you because I'm your mother, I LOVE YOU." I've been diagnosed on the spectrum as well, and I figure my literal/legalistic mind is what pissed her off.
      Well honestly there's an aspect of me being like my dad, who was a great person, but my mom seemed to resent intellectuals/men and she blamed him for her failures/victim. Her father was a doctor who"abandoned"[had to work] her. My dad made mistakes, but looking back, he at least tried. He made things that hurt me truly, but I never used it as ammo... He truly cared. He supported her, stuck through thick and thin, etc. I watched her interact with every ex, etc...Over years, they were always wrapped around her thumb. Sometimes, while all of them are in the same room at the same time, no joke. It was wild. Men were just tools to use and throw away(I presume carried hatred from her father abandoning), and she was a manipulative genius.
      All those men were people who gave everything for her even after they broke up. Dad gave her the house, paid child support while he took care of me, etc...He was truly trying his best. From what he told me, "He couldn't ever figure out what was wrong or how to please her." He wasn't a socially smart man, but he was kind and had principles. She was also an incredibly talented artist who was supported but never wanted to try...then disdained those who had the talents she said she always wanted. math, not art. Yeah, so throw away what everybody else wants that you have and then attempt to destroy other people who have what you want because they use it.
      Anyways, I just never reacted the way she wanted and always had to analyze and dissect. What for me was neutral debate, apparently was enraging attack against her nature. To this day, I believe if she just was willing to grow and stop playing a victim card, then she could have gotten better. Horse and water stuff... (Not that I was perfect, clearly I was a difficult kid, but I really can't tell if that was my fault.)
      As you can tell, I kinda crossed a nerve, so I'll just stop here... I've spent the majority of my conscious life analyzing this topic and comprehending why... It's interesting, but also the way I survived. I played her prosecutor/defense attorney my entire life, I grew up kinda neglecting emotions for logic as a result. I could dissociate into analysis and maintain the dissonance in my emotions.

    Most recent update I saw on this was that EM ended up selling her house and moving to Texas. One of the neighbors apparently followed the moving van for FIFTY MILES to make sure she wasn't pulling a fast one on them - NO ONE in the neighborhood liked her, and they made it VERY obvious to her about that. (And Sis turned into a really good person once EM wasn't fucking with her head. OP gets along really well with her as of two years ago.)
