How can someone be so blindsided that you can't see your one son suffering mentally and physically. Horrible parenting. Anna has no loyalty so not shocked that she got cheated on.
I think their son's death was a slap in the face and they realized Pete was FAR from being the golden child they thought he was, and that's why threatened to cut that ass off if he put Jay's daughter up for adoption, as if Cathy was Jay's, they didn't want to lose that last piece of him. I would also explain why they tried to contact OP a few times.

Oh man the fact that Cathy existed must have drove Pete insane. Child of his brother who died and a constant reminder why OP want's to kick his ass, the fact she's not his even though they were cheating the entire relationship, and the fact once again she has those green eyes that makes him the odd one out amongst his siblings. And he couldn't have gotten rid of her. Just imagine this asshole for twenty-one years had this girl looking at him with those green eyes she got from his brother. And he couldn't do anything to her or he'd finally face consequences. I don't mean to dehumanize her or anything but this has to be a form of karma.

Earlier in the story when OP was recounting how the parents would make excuses for Pete, and after he hit that growth spurt of his, I would've started mocking the parents' excuses. For example, when after Pete got a bad grade and they said the teacher is against him, OP could've come back with, "Have you ever considered that the f*cker's just stupid and lazy? And a little b*tch who needs mommy and daddy to fight his battles?"

I would have reacted exactly like OP did and told them to leave on top of that. When I first heard this story, I had wondered if the eldest child was Jay’s kid. I’m glad it was true and that OP got a little piece of his brother back. And while he may have missed the start of her life, at least he gets to be there for the rest of it.
I agree that the parents were in the wrong, but I’ll say this-you’d be surprised by how much parents can miss. My own mother was very attentive and loving but even she didn’t see the warning signs in me until it was almost too late.
I hope Pete’s bio kids resemble OP and Jay more than they do their parents. It would be a just reward for the family to be constantly reminded of the son/brother they killed (Jay) and the one they betrayed (OP).
This is one of those situations where Cathy will most likely have the healthy relationship with you but her half-siblings or basically her brother cousin sister cousins are pretty much going to wants a piece of the pie. Especially since you have a much better relationship with your other nieces and you're starting to have a more healthy relationship with Kathy. An example I know personally is someone who was raised with a hoarder...became so obsessed with avoiding it they would barely put anything around the house at all. I do feel though that most of the time it's one or the other. You either follow the example or are the opposite. Also though nature plays a role nurture does a crap ton too...by that logic Cathy would be terrible as she has a terrible mom and was raised by a scumbag man.
A happy ending but also sad honestly to think that OP and Cathy could have both lived more happily if it was revealed from the beginning that she was Jay's daughter. This one got me choked up as I can relate to this guy. I lost my only sibling 2 years ago (not for the same reasons) very suddenly and all I have left of him is his three amazing sons. I can feel my brother's hugs when I hug them, hear my brother's laugh when they laugh, and see my brother's smile when they smile. The loss of my brother was extremely hard on the family but those boys make it a little easier to handle.
Man I started crying too when that dna news came out though I had suspicions Cathy may have been jays kid. That Anna is doubly guilty for what happened to jay. If she hadn't been cheating he'd still be alive and enjoying being a dad but Anna had to cheat and then robbed him of a daughter. As soon as he mentioned the green eyes so similar, I had a big hunch that there was more to her DNA than happenstance of the gene jumping past Pete. "It feels like I got a little bit of Jay back.' I choked up right then and there with the hugest tug on the heart strings. Jay will be alive every time OP sees those green eyes.. I'm not crying - you're crying! Ninjas are cutting onions! If I feel any emotions during Reddit stories it's usually relief or anger. This is the first time I cried. The revelation about Cathy being Jay's daughter was completely unexpected. I usually figure these things out pretty fast! There is sadness that Jay missed out on knowing his daughter and happiness that OP has a part of Jay in his life. The best to both OP and Cathy.

The start of this story made me angry. I could imagine myself in OPs shoes when older brother walks in with the sl*t (and i never use that word). I could see/feel myself threatening to kill the brother and the wh*r* and telling anyone that made excuses for them that they were dead to me. The anger is justified. Idiot boy cheats with his brothers girlfriend which causes brother to end it and then the cheaters show up together? How can anyone forgive that?

All that lost time he could have had with her if only he had known. I hope they form a relationship and have many happy years being in each other’s lives
the story got another update, the post was leaked in the family and caused issues one where Kathy got disowned by Pete and a brother sided with him. she didn't care about Pete but her brother agreeing with him hurt her. family tried to get the sis to give out OP's info and she didn't then OP almost got completely cut out of Kathy's life because of the post until she actually read it due to OP's sister's kids telling her too and she forgave OP after that. OP is also now in contact with Kathy's sister and now things are better for them. also Pete wanted to put Kathy up for adoption but the parents said "do it and your cut off our money". they are also currently neutral in the drama making them into pariahs and kathy and her sister want OP to break no contact and talk to them. nothing after that as OP deleted his accounts I believe.
This is why I can't help but smile whenever the notification for a new video from this channel pops up. The follow-through on the stories are second to none. Keep up the good work LG.

I would be so elated if I found out that he had a child we didn’t know about…..to have a piece of him wow. S1: OP, why would you even want to start a relationship with your oldest brothers children? Imho, it sounds like a recipe for more trouble. Being in their lives will beyond a shadow of doubt it ups the odds of you having to beat Pete black and blue. Leaving you open for a visit from the local PD or even the bill (if any) for damages. If I was Cathy and still got treated differently by Pete, I would want to be adopted by my uncle, to be honest. I wouldn’t want to live and have any connection to my father’s abuser and killer. If OP doesn’t have kids of his own, maybe he should look into that. If he would have adopted her when she was little, why not do that now? If they end up having a great relationship, I think that if adoption isn’t an option, putting her into the will would be a great decision. Looking out for your deceased brother’s daughter should be something OP should consider, if not financially, at least with advice and emotional support.

This one got me choked up as I can relate to this guy. I lost my only sibling 2 years ago (not for the same reasons) very suddenly and all I have left of him is his three amazing sons. I can feel my brother's hugs when I hug them, hear my brother's laugh when they laugh, and see my brother's smile when they smile. The loss of my brother was extremely hard on the family but those boys make it a little easier to handle.
Man I started crying too when that dna news came out though I had suspicions Cathy may have been jays kid.
That Anna is doubly guilty for what happened to jay. If she hadn't been cheating he'd still be alive and enjoying being a dad but Anna had to cheat and then robbed him of a daughter. Hope Anna suffers miserably for the rest of her life as she's guilty of cheating and jays passing.
My heart absolutely breaks for OP, and for Jay. A man has to be the lowest form of scum to to do what Pete did to Jay. And for the parents to support Pete and tell Jay to “get over it”? They’re responsible for Jay’s death too. I hope they carry that guilt with them for the entirety of their lives. I’m glad that OP has Cathy, his beloved brother’s daughter. I hope they build an amazing relationship, and that they can help each other heal.

If I feel any emotions during Reddit stories it's usually relief or anger. This is the first time I cried. The revelation about Cathy being Jay's daughter was completely unexpected. I usually figure these things out pretty fast! There is sadness that Jay missed out on knowing his daughter and happiness that OP has a part of Jay in his life. The best to both OP and Cathy.

The start of this story made me angry. I could imagine myself in OPs shoes when older brother walks in with the sl*t (and i never use that word). I could see/feel myself threatening to kill the brother and the wh*r* and telling anyone that made excuses for them that they were dead to me. The anger is justified. Idiot boy cheats with his brothers girlfriend which causes brother to end it and then the cheaters show up together? How can anyone forgive that?

As soon as I heard that the daughter was actually the daughter of the dead brother I immediately started crying. I couldn’t imagine being in OP’s shoes. All that lost time he could have had with her if only he had known. I hope they form a relationship and have many happy years being in each other’s lives
I hope that op rubbed it in his parents faces the few times they tried to make contact that they were just as responsible for Jay’s death as was Pete.
the story got another update, the post was leaked in the family and caused issues one where Kathy got disowned by Pete and a brother sided with him. she didn't care about Pete but her brother agreeing with him hurt her. family tried to get the sis to give out OP's info and she didn't then OP almost got completely cut out of Kathy's life because of the post until she actually read it due to OP's sister's kids telling her too and she forgave OP after that. OP is also now in contact with Kathy's sister and now things are better for them. also Pete wanted to put Kathy up for adoption but the parents said "do it and your cut off our money". they are also currently neutral in the drama making them into pariahs and kathy and her sister want OP to break no contact and talk to them. nothing after that as OP deleted his accounts I believe.

Wow! What an awesome ending to a terrible situation. I lost my middle son and it will be 10 years on March 2nd. He wasn’t married and had no children. He was only 24. I would be so elated if I found out that he had a child we didn’t know about…..to have a piece of him wow. I do understand that it’s selfish on my part because that means a child would have grown up to never know their father. It would be bittersweet. 😢

S1: OP, why would you even want to start a relationship with your oldest brothers children? Imho, it sounds like a recipe for more trouble. Being in their lives will beyond a shadow of doubt it ups the odds of you having to beat Pete black and blue. Leaving you open for a visit from the local PD or even the bill (if any) for damages.
At the very least the people you are NC will some how try to wiggle their way back into your life. With any luck there is a special level in Hels for Pete and Anna, and every other vile cheater.
if you meet the kids.. STRAIGHT UP tell em THE TRUTH!! Let the chips fall where they may.... let em figure out for themselves the kind of guy dad is.. AND mom.. do NOT talk Pete and Anna down yourself .. let the KIDS draw their own conclusions via the facts.

If I was Cathy and still got treated differently by Pete, I would want to be adopted by my uncle, to be honest. I wouldn’t want to live and have any connection to my father’s abuser and killer. If OP doesn’t have kids of his own, maybe he should look into that. If he would have adopted her when she was little, why not do that now? If they end up having a great relationship, I think that if adoption isn’t an option, putting her into the will would be a great decision. Looking out for your deceased brother’s daughter should be something OP should consider, if not financially, at least with advice and emotional support.
