How To Fix a Broken MOON BUGGY ($10,000 Rear Engine Challenge)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 бер 2020
- After picking up this abandoned 1970's beetle for $8,000, it' time to get it working so it can chop Martys MR2 in our $10,000 rear engine challenge. But this car has been in storage for over 5 years and is unlike anything that's ever been on the show. Being so old and strange, it's going to need a unique set of skills to make it skid all the way to victory...

15:39 hello Cheryl I spotted it 1st 😂
When you're so poor you can't even afford the free calendar. :(
Here's the story of the car www.evolutioncustomindustries.com/moonbuggy.html
Replace that Carb with a HOLLY CARB!!!!!
Btw... I bet you don't even know what cowl injection is....
I'm 33.... I know how to build carbs... Cowl injections and TBI...
FUCK EFI.....
Carb and TBI is where the power is at....
Btw... You can run TBI without a computer... Run the injectors to your coil wire.... Simple. Oooor wire them on ignition.
Need this !
I like this guy. He's genuinely passionate about these things, and it shows.
He is definitely a true VW guy!
True
Thomas Foley yea. I had a kelhin carb for my drz and had to rebuild it. Couldnt imagine rebuilding one of these its crazy
@Thomas Foley if the Bug = Monkey on the back then Squareback = 800lb gorilla beat down. Despite my better judgement I am on my third one now. Found some 40mm DCNF webbers, then found out only Berg's manifold would fit and had to run a different (but very nice) linkage. Way too much $/hp but when she gets on cam it's all worth it. Don't know the SPG yet as I just got the new engine back in last week but I suspect sore cheeks.

Nothing will ever fill that void. Just kidding.
I was scared the next project would be Keeping with the Cardashians. Lol lol
Personally I'd like to see Yaris Hilton get a heart transplant (Marty's 3S GTE from the mr2 if he looses that would be my choice)

"Is Issac gonna be our new dad?"

I can tell just by listening to Isaac that he’s absolutely MINT as a guitar tech, too.
I just picked up an RG and im loving the neck feel
Legend says If he found he couldn't make it as a guitar tech his back up profession was rocket scientist
Super stoked you guys are keeping the VW engine.
My dad was a Vw mechanic here in Aus who ran a very successful hillclimb beetle (Haltech EFI, 2L, ~180rwhp) for most of my life until cancer got him. Brings a tear to my eye seeing an engine I know very well torn apart on this channel.
Everyone needs a friend like Isaac! What a legend.....
We absolutely love the fact that you are finally working on it old air-cooled Volkswagen! Your friend Isaac is a legend and he deserves a big pat on the back!. We would love to send your boy Isaac a free VW Life sticker If you would like one. We love seeing these old things get back on the road that's where they belong and they need to be driven! You're going to destroy that Toyota MR2! VW life forever!
PSSSSSTTT I heard something about that motor being a 2110.....that MrPOO
is chopped!
11secghia so if it is your fabled 2110, it will have about as many horsepower as the 3S-GTE has kilowatts stock, on a good day, but with far less torque as there isn’t any turbocharger involved. I admire you guys having passion, and we will have to see the outcome, but if it is isn’t a totally rotten SW20 and is done right it should be too much for this here VW custom. We shall see.
@@rsoul7282 yeh you're right, but just let them have their moment haha.

Isaac needs to make more appearances! Loved it. I honestly prefer the episodes where it's just a couple of fellas passionately getting stuck in to each other's automobiles. The marty-moog banter can get old but this is educational entertainment.
It’s a long time since I worked on a Weber carburettor almost 35 years (OMG how am I still alive? ) but I have never forgotten the sense of accomplishment in stripping and rebuilding AND the utter joy when it actually works again afterwards! Nice to see a man who knows his stuff just getting it done, no mean feat - kudos bro!

As someone who has rebuilt alot of Carburetors over the years get yourself a cheap ultra Sonic cleaner you won't be disappointed they work amazing
Good suggestion!
Yeah same here Its great for parts cleaning but I don't think its much use to moog just because he does a carbi build once a year wont get much use so it won't earn his money back on the new gizmo
DatBoiOrly You know, you can use an ultrasonic cleaner on more than just a carburetor.
Work pretty good for injectors too
Yep, bought one for 150 bucks on Amazon - best decision I've made especially for this restauration - it's a god send.

@@11secghia I wouldn't have thought the MR2 is going to remain totally standard. Getting 300bhp+ from a 3S-GTE isn't hard, and much more is possible with suitable tuning. The 3S-GTE in the Pikes Peak Tacoma made around 800bhp.

@@yuricorrea2491 Good info in those links man, I wonder if it still has the blue underglow!!
@@yuricorrea2491 Great info man. I'm not sure it's going to be enough to chop Mr Poo though. The Moog Buggy engine is very likely at it's limits without some major work, while Mr Poo has plenty of room to extract extra power. All Marty needs to do is bump up the boost, and either upgrade the intercooler, or fit a cheeky water/meth injection system.
@@yuricorrea2491/videos That's best case scenario. You're still talking about a 40-year old air-cooled boxer with carburetors.

Isaac seems like a very interesting guy. I’m someone who has to know how everything works, especially super small details. Carbys like this are way beyond my skills but I’d love to learn one day. I remember spending many hours playing around with the adjustments on the carby of my mate’s motorised esky, then my own. Always tried it on his first, just in case I buggered it up!

"Brake and parts cleaner", looks under shop bench where a 2 gallon can with basket of carb cleaner sits. Yeah, I'm that old! I remember rebuilding and altering more than a few of those carbs (Rochester, Carter, Holley, Weber, and Solex). Bucket still good for small engine carbs.
All us old guy had one of those in the garage. Usually used WAY to many times.
I used to love stripping down my old Weber carbs. A couple of 48IDA carbs on different rotaries and 45 DCOE on Cooper S. Experimenting with different idle jets, main jets, air corrector jets and emulsion tubes, all part of the fun growing up in the 70's! A great design carburetor.
