I'm just going to explain this as a former water treatment sales person whom sold similar systems to Kangan, but mine were A LOT CHEAPER. She likely has hard water. Part of what some of the kangan units do is soften it, which can change the ph. She also was likely using too much soap and any softener. You can actually stain your clothes washing with too much detergent and really any amount of fabric softener too. If you use too much soap, it won't fully dissolve. Then if you use softener, it will add essentially a wax on top, letting the stain set. When she washed with just water, she washed away the excess soap and fabric softener. The unit, softening the water further helps as soap dissolves better in soft water compared to hard water. Summary, she uses too much soap and softener, and washed it out when she used none and her slightly softened water. Thus why her clothes look better
To be fair, they said molecular hydrogen. I think the machine is supposed to reduce H2O into H2 and OH-. But I don't know whether the hydrogen stays dissolved in the water (vs gassing off) or why you would want to drink hydrogen gas
As a mom with an autistic child, I strongly disagree with that lady's hot take that "therapy isn't helping your child with autism." That makes me want to throw up. My toddler goes to therapy three times a week, and it's the best decision we could have ever made for him. He's made huge strides in every area of his development, and it's such a sweet thing to see my son have a team of caregivers who loves and helps him. Arbonne could never.
Right? I’m a former special education teacher and am fully aware of the monumental benefits of various therapies for children with autism. It is widely known that early intervention via therapy (OT, feeding therapy, play therapy, etc, etc) is the very best and healthiest way to ensure that children with autism learn and progress as they develop. I hate these companies who try to claim otherwise. I mean, if you think oils and supplements are helping your child a little, fine. But for this person to outright claim that the truly effective treatments should be set aside for the alternatives is appalling.
It really depends on the kind of therapy. Some kinds are really helpful to autistic kids, some can be really traumatizing. However there is no doubt that Arbonne supplements aren't going to be of any help 😂 also idk what she's on about with the "heavily medicated" since there is no medication for autism
As an autistic human… it depends on the therapy. ABA, for example can make children more manageable and compliant… but there’s a lot of trauma happening that neurotypical people don’t understand that can follow the kid into adulthood. (Ask me how I know. ABA is horrendous!)
@@restingwitchfacetarot605 This! And the worst part is that apparently a lot of insurance companies will only pay for ABA, so parents are mislead into thinking it's good.
It said it made it 11.5ph water. Thats the same ph as ammonia. That could ruin your clothes if you poured it onto them. And drinking it would upset the acid balance in your gut- it can make you really sick!
I’m so glad you’re here. Ya that was disgusting. It triggered me too because of a family member who’s attempting a couple of times (to my knowledge). It’s brutal. Not something to exploit.
My partner told me yesterday that all the women I listen to sound the same... I don't know how to tell him it's because I have been binging the MLM horror stories for 3 days straight 🤣😭
The thing with the "read more in caption" thing is that they often make super short reels with zero information and super long captions so that while you read that the reels plays over and over in the background farming insane amounts of views...
@@maryeckel9682the only way to pause is to hold the screen down. The most you can do is turn the sound off so the song isn’t on repeat. They’re getting soooooo many views
The thing that really gets me about the high pH water being used as detergent is that you can’t just magically raise (or lower) water’s pH without adding something to it. And 11.5 is HIGH (water is usually around 6.5-8, and the average laundry detergent doesn’t usually go above 10). So, if it *is* in fact raising the pH that much (someone needs to get those pH test strips and test this tbh, bc it could be doing nothing at all), the only way it could achieve a pH that high is by actively adding a highly basic substance to the water. At which point it isn’t “just water” is it?
Also should maybe be obvious but low pH isn’t necessarily what makes detergents and cleaners effective, anyway. It has more to do with how those chemicals are able to interact with lipids and other grime, something water just can’t do on its own bc it’s naturally lipophobic.
And to add to that, let's say we trust that the water is actually just water, and it's actually at a pH of 11.5. Once you dilute it with 40 gallons of standard water from the laundry machine, IT'S JUST WATER
Hannah, you're one of the most respectful and kind creators. I've never been offended by the language you use, and I say that as an autistic human. And I appreciate your words about us not needing to be fixed. My Autism is an inherent part of me, and makes me the phenomenal counselor and human that I am. That same autism is also what led me down the special interest rabbit hole of anti-mlm/anti-scam that started because you popped up on my algorithm 😊
Hope you don't mind my asking. You said human twice, which is implied by the fact that youre even typing. Is 'person' now a controversial word, or is this just a colliquial choice? I mean this as a genuine question, no shade
@terricox3559 i don't mind at all! It's a colloquial choice for me. It may also be affected by the amount of fantasy books I read if I'm being completely honest😂 as far as I'm aware, person doesn't have negative connotations. Human is just one of my own language quirks.
@@theneurodivergentcounselorYou are right. There is nothing wrong in having autism. Your mind just works a little different. I still don't understand how that's considered problematic or even taboo these days. I hope you thrive in your life and be happy!
This whole "everyone has the same 24 hours in a day" cracks me up. I have a full time job but my children are grown and on their own and my only grandchild lives 5000 miles away from me. At home it's me, my husband, our cat and his birds. I guarantee that my 24 hours look incredibly different than a single mom with a full time job and 5 kids at home.
Then there's the Spoon Theory for disabled/chronically ill people, where a handful of spoons represents the hours in a day and you take away one at a time until you're at zero or negative and you still haven't done anything beyond getting out of bed. Plus, if you do have a productive day, you'll crash tomorrow. And MLMs prey on us all the time.
@@maryeckel9682 🙌🫶👏THANK YOU for saying this! I am chronically ill and have approx 4 highly active hours per day max. Usable hours per day with consideration of rationing and pacing are rarely ever factored in by ableds who say “we all have the same # of hours per day”
I definitely agree. 24 hours is not the same for everybody while everybody is alive and functioning for 24 hours if you’re a millionaire, you may have people in cooking and cleaning your house while you sat by the pool all day like you said your situation you have your animals yes you’re taking care of them and have things to do for them but your day is definitely a lot different than like you said a single mother with five kids, some people are working two jobs even though they’re single just to be able to afford rent with all the inflation right now. some people have illnesses back injuries where sometimes it may take you half the day to even be able to get up and start moving around. I cannot stand when people say that to others people with insomnia because your body hasn’t rested yeah you had the same 24 hours, but you can’t hardly function because your brain can’t hardly work because you’ve been awake for days at a time.
The point is that we've all got the same 24 hours. The problem is that the Internet is populated by depressed people who get mad whenever anyone is positive or happy. I see this all the time online. Too many sad demons trying to bring everyone else down.
I have a friend whose son is autistic. His parents began intensive therapy for him when he was just a toddler and while it was a struggle both emotionally and financially, this young man is now 25 years old, a college graduate and living in his own apartment. Therapy often works. Magic pills do not exist.
That's good to hear. I worry so much for my autistic son. He's in various therapy programs and sees a psychiatrist regularly and take his meds daily. But I worry so much about him. It's always good to hear things like this, so thank you for your comment.
It really does depend on the individual and the therapy and the therapist. Some therapies like ABA can be extremely traumatising for autistic people. It forces us to mask, not manage autistic traits and needs. I received no therapy and I seemed complete stable at 25. I had finished my degree, Cumme laude. On my way to a highly competitive and exhausting post grad program. I had a respectable office job with the municipality, job and a life and by all measures I was doing well. Then I hit my 30s and I burned out. Like explosive flames burnout. I had no skills to manage my autistic needs.
The university I work for trains therapists and invests $$$ in autism research and support programmes (parents and children). To say all those hard working academics can just be replaced with some oil is beyond insulting
@@Michelalayes exactly. It's not because we're "successful" by neurotypical standards that were doing well and healthy. Not dismissing the achievements or the benefits of what these individuals have gained from therapies, but we really have to be cautious about which expectations we put on neurodivergent and disabled people.
sorry, i don't understand what you mean by that. should the expectations we place on neurodivergent people be less than that of neurotypical ppl? like, we shouldn't expect or strive for the same level of successful for ND children? @ragdollrose2687
As a science teacher, seeing the kangen water posts drives me insane! I have a lady who always posts about it. I show the posts in my class and we break down the jargon that they use. Myself and some other science teachers have a good laugh about how absurd they are.
I'm a former special needs teacher, and an Autistic person. We are not "broken" or "sick", we do not need to be fixed or to "get better". Thank you Hannah for bringing attention to these predatory MLM sellers who do far more harm than good.
(sorry for the length, I'm terrible at short and sweet - just ignore this if you don't want to read a novella) I have to ask... why is it bad to want to not be autistic? I am asking this because my teenage son is autistic. He's spent weeks in a psych ward and his autism prevents him from many things. We are doing absolutely everything his care team suggests to try to help him the best possible quality of life and help him be a productive member of society, but his autism is pretty... harsh. I have asked him about it and he's wished for a cure and honestly, as I watch him struggle, I wish for one, too. That doesn't mean I hate autistic people or want them to disappear, however. Yet expressing a thought like mine is considered "bad" and I don't understand why. I'm disabled and mostly bedbound/confined to a wheelchair and wish hard that I had a cure for my various illnesses, yet no one has told me I should be ashamed for wanting that. I wish there were cures for various mental illnesses. My brother died and his schizoaffective disorder contributed to it. I also wish there was a cure for that, too. Yet I was shamed for it. Why? I genuinely don't understand. I am diagnosed with depression, and would love a cure for that, as well. Please understand that this does not mean that I hate people who struggle with these things; I do not. But watching my son struggle so much and cry and have to be hospitalized and basically have no IRL friends makes me wish that he didn't have to go through life on Hard Mode like he is. Same with my daughter who has diagnosed Tourette's and OCD. She's also expressed a desire for a cure for her issues and for her brother. If there was a cure, I would never say that it MUST be taken by every autistic person but even expressing a desire for them (medical professionals/scientists) to look for a cure gives you significant backlash and I genuinely cannot comprehend why. I am also not saying that YOU need to be cured, either. But for those who do wish that they didn't have to struggle with it... like, even my son was "yelled at" over the internet for expressing a desire for a cure for his autism. I told him there is nothing wrong with wanting that and not to listen to those people because only he truly understands how bad it is for him and he's perfectly valid in wanting that for himself. The last time I expressed this (after my son tried to take his own life), I was called a horrible person and a horrible mother and that somehow I'm in favor of genocide - which is beyond absurd and disgusting. I'd take a cure for being able to walk again, but I know not everyone would. But it would be nice for the option. Same for mental illnesses and other neurodivergences - especially if they seriously interfere with your QoL, you know? Again, I am not saying I want you or anyone to disappear, but the option for a cure for those who want it... it'd be nice. And if my son didn't wish for the same thing and I saw how much he struggled with it, I doubt I'd think this at all as I wouldn't have experience with it. It's not taboo to want to cure your physical ailments, but for some reason it is for mental ones, even though those can seriously impact your life in the negative - like my brother's did and currently, my son. And I've never understood it. Either way, I love my children and would do anything to help them succeed in life. Autism or not.
I'm a person with autism myself. I say that, because while we are not broken or sick in the traditional sense, I don't view my autism as a benefit in my life, and it's usually actively a harm to it. Because it's a spectrum, how functional one is will vary. If you're high functioning, then you're probably going to have an easier time than someone who isn't. We agree that exploiting the fear of people regarding autism is sinister. But I would disagree on the fixing. If there were a cure, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
@@olgs37your feelings are valid, folks get on the internet and say anything. A kid that’s 7 years old before he/she can be potty trained has a right to wish things were different. @@olgs37 I understand your feelings, and there is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your loved ones or yourself. How a person feels about their own condition is their business. That is different to telling a community of people with vastly varying levels of ability that they are all sick or broken. It's very different to offering "cures" that at best are snake oil and at worst are toxic. We cannot change who we are or how our brains process the world and its stimuli. We can only try to have the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
@@voodoochile4147 Thank you for your kind and thoughtful response. I really appreciate it. Husband and I do whatever Son's psych and therapists suggest and would never even consider pseudoscience as a way of "helping". It's so hard watching him struggle with being unable to regulate his emotions and not understanding society as a whole. He's such a smart kid, but he struggles so, so much that at times he doesn't want to live and I would do anything to help free him from those distressing thoughts. As it is, we're just following what his care team says is for the best and hope that he'll be able to learn to live his life on Hard Mode. I just wish he didn't have to. I already do that and the thought of my kid having to do that, but for different reasons, is hard to manage.

I was just talking to my therapist about the prolonged effects of being in a near constant state of of fight/flight/freeze/fawn. It can really mess with your body over time causing lots of problems. Best tips from a actual licensed professional is try to move your body a bit more to relieve tension, socialize with loved ones, do something creative, seek out physical touch/cuddle with pets, and laugh. Notice none of these suggestions involve buying a mlm product most are free to do and very beneficial and scientifically proven. Hope that helps!
There's a mandatory cooling off period for direct sales and MLM. 3 days, doesn't matter if the person has signed and paid. If they change their mind within 3 days afterwards they are entitled to a full refund and cancellation of the contract. When this law was introduced in Australia it virtually brought an end to direct sales and MLM pitches because over 90% of signups would just cancel. The USA has the same law from the FTC so why doesn't anyone there seem to know about it?
I have a 9-5 government job. At this point I work from home, am able to flex my schedule, have a good salary, time off, have health insurance, and have a pension. MLM? No thank yu.
Pretty much the same here! But I work for an insurance company. I can start my day within a 2 hour window which means I don't have to use PTO for an appointment, I'll just start early. But I also have PTO! I also own stock in the company so I get extra rewarded when we do well as a whole, but I have my paycheck every two weeks no matter what. Why would I trade that to PAY a company to work for them ??
For real. My government job allows me to work four 10-hour days a week from home, I'll get 3-months of paid maternity leave, and I get a sense of job satisfaction knowing I'm preventing people from getting evicted. I'd never get any of that shilling shampoo or oils.

@@restingwitchfacetarot605 That's absolutely true, there are also some specific therapies which some therapists ascribe to that can be harmful especially in autism. I asked if I could write their parents a letter and they agreed. I sent letters home, explaining our conversations and the parents loved it! Since that day, I have autistic kiddos in my building.
Why did they want to be called autistic? Times have changed. I remember when we didn't want labels or want anyone to know what "issues" we had. I still don't. Nobody knows anything, because I don't need a label nor need to be treated special.
That is a generalization. My mom, brother, and ex husband are all autistic. All three would love to have a magic button they could push to be neurotypical. They all realize what a burden their limitations caused by autism are, and the fact that it alienates them from others. They do not enjoy their sensory issues, social impairments, or meltdowns. Science teacher here: pH of water is 7. Water's chemical formula is H2O. Purified or otherwise, the chemical formula is H2O. Water is water. Clean or dirty, it's water. She wasted $5000.
Depending on how it's filtered, it may not just be H2O, though. Like RO water likes to pull carbon dioxide from the air, since it's so pure/outta equilibrium. It reacts to form a small amount of carbonic acid and makes it slightly more acidic the longer you leave it out. Not enough to really change anything, and most soaps/detergents are basic to boot, not acidic, so it's also going the wrong way. Tldr water is almost never just water, but the non-water parts of filtered water aren't enough to make it not what we usually consider water, even if the chemical components are slightly more complicated than just H2O.
Thank you for being so respectful to the autistic community. We are often a misunderstood group, and it's refreshing to see how much you genuinely care about others❤

The water one made me actually laugh out loud 😂 I could go on and on about how literally every single „technical“ term she used in her caption is used extremely wrong in that context and she definitely has no clue what any of those adjectives mean but hey… I’m but a simple chemist, what do I know 🤷🏻♀️😂 Also, amazing video as always, Hannah! 🙈❤️
I was out shopping with a friend the other day, and she was excitedly telling me about “hydrogen-enriched water” that was giving her “so many benefits.” I said, “if there’s extra hydrogen in your water, then it’s not water. The molecular structure would have to change, and I think your water might explode!” She laughed a little nervously and changed the subject. She’s a teacher!! She should know better! I’m just a humble English major…what do I know 🤦♀️😂
@@clarissataylor1597 I mean, that might as well be a lucky coincidence if there’s any hydrogen peroxide in there (as far as desinfecting properties go), however I wouldn’t be calling that liquid water and advertising it as such by any means… 🥴😂
I used to work repairing domestic appliances, most washing machines start the cycle by running the drain pump briefly to ensure any old water sat in the machine is pumped out before the wash cycle starts. Most of that jug of water she poured into the drum would be pumped straight down the drain.
I have been personally affected by a tragic death in my husband's family, and I'm also the mom of an amazing autistic son, so this arbonne lady makes me absolutely sick. People in either of those situations are sometimes so desperate for relief or change that they'll do ANYTHING, including spending money on useless garbage like these products. Shame on her for exploiting her deceased sister and her child to try and make a buck.
Many people work 9 to 5 jobs while having side businesses, taking classes and doing creative things. Traditional jobs have steady paychecks and health benefits. You don't have to give up your dreams when you take a 9 to 5 job. That job can help you financially pursue those dreams.
Maybe that’s her secret, she does her laundry 4x a day and just by rinsing it that much it gets the smells out 😂 We buy detergent at Costco, and buy one or two jugs a YEAR. 🤣
ive been watching you for awhile (you introduced me to anti-mlm content actually!), and youve always been my favorite for how respectful and professional you are in all of your videos! and as an autistic person, im even more convinced you're truly my favorite on the scene of anti-mlm content! i deeply appreciate how empathetic you are in your research, and how much you strive to improve yourself! i really respect that, and thanks again for another vid! 😊
I completely agree. I found this channel very recently and have been greatly struck by your even-handedly, empathetic analysis. Your compassion for those ensnared by these schemes is also a wonderful quality, while not letting them away with unethical behaviour. A pleasure to listen to.
Hi guys! Biochemistry student here! I'll explain the science from the post at 13:30 for anyone interested. Water ionizer- it doesn't make sense because if you put salt in water, the salt becomes ions. So water itself is "an ionzier". And water also "ionizes" itself all the time like this: H2O -> H+ and -OH , so no need for a machine. Molecular hydrogen rich water- This is impossible. Molecular hydrogen also known as "hydrogen gas" or "H2". It would no longer be molecular if you mixed it with water. It would react and the whole thing would become acidic water. The simplest definition of "acid" is "more hydrogen then there's supposed to be". Molecular hydrogen can be dangerous and can explode in contact with air. Anti-oxidant rich- Well, hard to say what this would be like, it depends on which anti-oxidant we are talking about. Some examples are vitamin A , C and E. But what's hilarious is that anti-oxidants actually stops ionization from occurring. In other words, if you stop hydrogens from splitting off from their molecules and becoming their own ion, then you are an antioxidant. Antioxidants are usually big molecules and the water would probably become gunky and opaque. Medical grade water- It is extra clean water used to sterilize things at the hospital. This water wouldn't be medical grade because there are anti-oxidants in it! But even if there were no anti-oxidants, it would easily become non sterile as soon as it touches anything, including regular air. Electrolysis- No, that is just outrageous. Electrolysis is basically a complicated way to turn water into gas. But not just regular H2O steam, but split up in to oxygen and hydrogen gas. This is a chemical technique done in a lab, and it will explode unless you know what you are doing! So about pH; pH juste means how acidic or basic something is, in other words "how many extra hydrogen atoms are there?" or "How many hydrogen atoms are missing?" Where a pH of 7 means it's perfectly in the middle. When preforming an electrolysis you can get a difference in pH over time, and in separated areas of the water. What pH we would get depends on what type of electrolysis we do. Sounds technical? IT IS. 11,5 pH - That is just as basic as bleach. None of the things mentioned above would cause water to become that extremely basic (remember basic menas lack of hydrogen atoms). If you want something to get a particular pH you can't just turn a dial on a machine! Oil emulsification- means oil and water are mixed really well. At this point I don't know anymore.
Assuming it is actually doing something to the water. Wouldn't water with that kind of PH level be at least bordering on caustic? Going by what I remember of high school chemistry but a PH of 11.5 would be somewhere equivalent to ammonia.
@@certs743 Yes! And even less basic substances than pH 11 can leave chemical burns depending on how long your skin is in contact with the substance. Like leaving laundry detergent on your skin would leave a mark. If you got something with pH 11 in your eyes it would be really bad.
as an autistic person i really like how you addressed the topic of language in this video! it's true that some people prefer person first language and others don't, so it's impossible to please everyone. it can be quite confusing, but i thought you handled it really well!!
"Parents of autistic children" gives me such fight or flight response. I swear they act like they're such fucking warriors or heros for having to "put up with" or "deal with" their children.
Holy... wow. If I liked you before for your anti-MLM content, I _really_ like and respect you now for how well you handled this. That was the most honest, genuine apology I think I've *ever* seen coming from a UA-camr, and you didn't tale it personally when people pointed out your mistake. People could really learn something just by watching how you handled that SO gracefully.
So yes, I do preface every little story I tell about something I heard you say on UA-cam with, "I've followed her since she was excited about hitting 10K subscribers." Proximity to greatness, I suppose? Thrilled for your success, Hannah. Keep it going.
265k subs?! 2.4M views on a single?! Hannah this is INCREDIBLE! I know it must be so hard for you at the moment with the big life changes, but I hope the love and support from your subs goes some way to make up for the current situation ❤❤
Seeing your subscriber count go up so much by the day is so incredible to see. It's an amazing testament to how well you explain the MLM business model and the lows these huns will go to. Fantastic video again, Hannah! Also, when my cat hears Zeke's chirping, she gets very excited and wants to join in! I think she's Zeke's number one fan!
I really appreciate how clearly you explain and articulate in your videos and how you support your reactions with real calculations. It's not a lazy reaction video and it shows. I can imagine you covering so many more topics in ways that are easy to understand
On the water one: (I have a chemical engineering degree) The rep mentions 11.5pH water which is pretty basic (Bleach is 11-13 generally) but the main thing is you wanna cut through the oils which isn’t gonna happen with salty water (salt, or dissolved charged particles, is what will change the pH). You need something that emulsifies the oils which is what the soap does!!! Love your videos Hannah!
This video comes on a great today because I took a sick day today. I'm on my period, have a ton of housework to get done, it's beautiful outside, and I'm exhausted. Guess what? I'm STILL GETTING PAID lol We have staff to cover my absence and I have many days of paid sick leave available. I actually like my job, but also sometimes I need a day to relax. As an American, I feel like I am under extreme pressure to be productive at all times and I am very grateful for the workplace rights we do have (though its still not enough imo). MLMers can't do this. They cannot turn off their phones and just chill or they risk losing everything. MLMs aren't the antithesis of corporate America. They are the DREAM of corporate America. People who are so brainwashed by their company that they will work 18+ hours a day, skip major life events, ignore health concerns, disregard their families in order to serve all while making less than minimum wage. They are the embodiment of what the workplace would be without the past 100 years of work reform. Its honestly depressing.
Years ago one of my kids had a mental health crisis and was hospitalized. An old friend I had lost touch with checked in with me. I shared my fears, sadness, and worry. She sent a sympathetic message and then immediately sent another one trying to sell me a vacuum cleaner. It was deeply hurtful.
It’s easier than you think. I did. & I tried to research on the internet, double checked what I could find, but I didn’t have enough knowledge to understand it all. All I wanted was to make an extra $500 a month, & help people. I had zero desire to build a team, get rich or anything like that. I hadn’t found all the anti-MLM channels on UA-cam…
Some people are very naive, gullible, and have no good options to get a real job at some point in their life. MLM loves to target moms , old people, disabled people, desperate people, and people who don't speak English very well, etc. The mom in the video with autistic child, in real life, she probably can not hold an actual job because her son needs a lot of attention and may be 100% of her time. But people need money, they are grasping for straws . The other case is when people know it is a scam and knowingly scam other people.
it's not hard to imagine when a lot of people first get introduced to these products in a desperate attempt to help themselves or a loved on who is struggling with their mental/physical health or diagnosis that isn't being helped by doctors and they just want a way to fix it when everything else has failed them. In a way it makes it even sadder because MLM's often target these people in their desperation
Hi, im someone who has autism. And I just wanted to let you know that most importantly I am not offended by either way you chose to address people with autism. But I did want to say I appreciate how you address that it is not a "problem" or something that needs "fixed". That alone is very helpful to the community and people who might who might have only heard it spoken about in a negative way ❤
I have autism and the best thing I did was seek therapy. It was very helpful to talk to someone and learn some coping mechanisms. It's so harmful to tell someone not to seek the help they need.
I actually rewatched 3 times the water washing part because I couldn’t comprehend what I was hearing! Oh myyy…. Why didn’t I think of that?!? Washing with detergent all my life instead of just using purified water and saving all that money!? I’m so stupid!
As an autistic person, it’s disgusting hearing about the woman trying to “cure” her son’s autism with food and supplements. Like you said, it’s not something to be cured, it’s a part of us. And thank you for taking the time to listen to us about that terms to use. I personally don’t mind either term, but makes me happy to know that someone cares! Thank you Hannah!❤
It always makes me so sad because instead of educating herself and putting in effort to understand her child, she would rather make her child feel as if they are a problem that needs to be “fixed.”
As an autistic subscriber I really appreciate your research in inclusive language regarding disabled people. Your channel continues to be one of my favorites!
My partner and I work "9-5" jobs, but the hours are actually flexible, and we both get benefits. Some months are more work than others, buy we still get vacation. Also, we both work from home. MLMs telling people that there's only mlm vs "other" jobs is toxic, ignorant, and makes people believe they can't find a way to both pay their bills, and enjoy life.
As a autistic parent of an autistic child, therapy is life changing. Classes, therapies, and providers who know what they are talking about are so important and have been a major reason in my daughters progress
Me, my brother, my father, my grandfather, and likely even more of my family in the past, are autistic. I can't speak for everyone under this umbrella, of course, but I will say that I appreciate your language and sentiment even when it's not flawless. My family has spent the last few decades learning and updating our language; it's changed a lot since I was a teenager, even, and will continue to do so. When you say person with autism or autistic person, neither sound demeaning or insulting or dismissive, and I hope no one holds either against you even if it clashes with their own preferences.
I'm autistic (so is one of my children), and I really appreciate you calling us autistic versus us having autism like it's a disease process. The nuance may be lost to some, but it's a huge difference. You're always so thoughtful and kind. ❤
With the autism thing I think it’s really an individual thing! Some people feel strongly one way or another but I really appreciate the way you approach this. I have autism and I hate the whole “detoxing the autism” out of their bodies.
I work a traditional 9-5 and am unionized. It has been great for me as a chronically ill person because all my medications are paid for with our provided insurance plan, and I have protected sick days, which I definitely need to use for those days where I just can't function. It's important to me to have that protection and reassurance that I can still provide for myself, my partner, and our kitty even though I'm sick. You don't get any of that with an MLM!

Thus why her clothes look better
i mean, i *hope* your water is “hydrogen-rich” - it should be…since it’s water
My water is not only hydrogen-rich, it's also oxygen-rich!
They want H3O it seems.
@@demo2823 I mean, if she wants to drink Hydronium, which is acidic, then that's on her.....
Did they come up with H55O?? 😂
If kangen water can replace laundry detergent, why would I drink it? Is this just the MLM equivalent of the tide pod challenge?
Great question!!
It said it made it 11.5ph water. Thats the same ph as ammonia. That could ruin your clothes if you poured it onto them. And drinking it would upset the acid balance in your gut- it can make you really sick!
And all that without the satisfying pop of the pod! Taking the fun out of eating “laundry detergent” 🤣😉

@@cgmeyothat's the best part for me. She's so scientifically illiterate.

Because she's sent me down a worm hole, and I'm highkey having so much fun. Now I just need to find my victim to info dump this on
Hope you don't mind my asking.
@@maryeckel9682 Especially ND (neurodivergent) people, smh

I'm a former special needs teacher, and an Autistic person. We are not "broken" or "sick", we do not need to be fixed or to "get better". Thank you Hannah for bringing attention to these predatory MLM sellers who do far more harm than good.
(sorry for the length, I'm terrible at short and sweet - just ignore this if you don't want to read a novella)
I have to ask... why is it bad to want to not be autistic?

Three business days to be specific.

I'm a psychologist the autism claims are insane. People will literally rely on anything whether it's a supplement or zodiac signs to try to figure out their mental health but consult a professional who does scientific evidence-based treatments. Even worse if you're responsible for a child and subjecting them to those alternative treatments that can even make things worse. Insanity.
I’m autistic and working on my masters in psychology and honestly even some of my professors are grossly ableist and don’t read any new information when it comes to autistic people.
It’s annoying at the least, and harmful to perpetuate some of these old ideas at most
@@restingwitchfacetarot605 That's absolutely true, there are also some specific therapies which some therapists ascribe to that can be harmful especially in autism. I've heard it all, from blaming the parents to blaming vaccines. Some people are just really stupid and they can happen to be licensed psychologists. Or psychiatrists. 🤣
Also an autistic here that has a psyc background with a social work degree working on my masters. I work in communities and with a lot of families. The amount of parents, who are most likely autistic themselves due to the high hereditary components, that make excuses for their child being autistic or "cure" them is honestly shocking to me. I don't understand why it is so hard to believe and damned so much??
In my completely uneducated opinion, people chase these unproven methods to give themselves a sense of control over their situation. They likely feel lost and overwhelmed and any instagram post promising them that they can cure their child at home is exploiting their vulnerability. It makes me sad and I wish social media platforms did more to quash misinformation.
I'm a 31 year old autistic woman. I have been through pretty much every (safe and sane) treatment, including the whole "gut health" healing diets growing up. The only thing that has actually helped me is medication and hours of therapy. I don't blame my mom for trying different treatments but ultimately science proves therapy and meds actually work.
I love what you said about autism, my son is autistic. It is not something to be fixed, but something to learn to understand. Therapy and medication can be used to help the person who has autism navigate the world easier, not for those around the autistic person to feel more comfortable.
As an autistic human… it depends on the therapy. ABA, for example can make children more manageable and compliant… but there’s a lot of trauma happening that neurotypical people don’t understand that can follow the kid into adulthood.
(Ask me how I know. ABA is horrendous!)
@@restingwitchfacetarot605 I didn't know that, I am sorry you experienced that. I feel any help should be for the autistic person's sake. There is nothing wrong with someone who has autism, they experience the world differently and it comes with its own strengths and weaknesses. It is difficult for all involved, that is why is takes work to understand each other and help each other.
@@restingwitchfacetarot605I used to work with kids with autism, and so many people PUSH ABA. I was an AAC SLP, and I hated watching anyone do it- it’s a child, not a trained seal! I got into difficult conversations with other professionals who were adamant that it was the ‘only’ way. I much preferred child centred therapies, and I think they work much better. I haven’t heard an adult say that they found ABA traumatic, but I’m unfortunately not surprised. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

Why can't u leave the word autistic out. Ur just a person just like everyone else. No need to announce it
@@s.r6331 yeah ik i'm a person haha and i actually have a ton of shame around the diagnosis so i don't usually share it. i use autistic or person with autism when it is relevant to refer to the kids i work with.
I was a pediatric nurse for 27 years and I was always taught the correct thing to was a person with diabetes not a diabetic person. When I was a high school nurse, several of my students came to me, asking if they could talk to me. They asked me to call them autistic. We talked about it and I understood what they were saying.
Autistic people don’t want to be “healed,” we just wanna be accepted. That is such a hard thing for society to come to terms with.
I have had deep discussions about this and among their online support groups this is a common feeling which is just as valid as embracing autism. Some people don't like it or want it and that shouldn't be disparaged or erased.
@@Elizabeth-n3v2ucorrect, I was trying to generalize in my comment. I most certainly don’t want mine, it’s nearly ruined my life. I’m just saying if society could view us as just a little different versus someone that needs constant fixing it would be nice 😅
@@Elizabeth-n3v2u I think it more has to do with neurotypicals feeling the need to fix or cure those who are neurodivergent because our struggles can be inconvenient to some, understandably so (they're inconvenient to me too lol). I don't like how I struggle in my day to day life and I do wish I could be neurotypical BUT I hate it when people around me think my neurodiversity is something to be fixed or cured or it's something that I did to myself. I would rather be accepted the way I am than have people around me try to fix me when I can't be "fixed".
To me it seems more like, whether the desire to not be autistic is there or not, is immaterial. It can’t be gotten rid of, so acceptance and support has to be the path that’s followed. Like with so many other disabilities.
Not true. Many people with autism want to assimilate as best they can. There is no one right answer.

A 'hydrogen rich' substance of 11.5 pH.....
@@meganking3314 Haha! Right! So many contradictions.
Thanks for the details! Makes it extra clear how stupid this person is and who much nonsense her claims are pol

This video comes on a great today because I took a sick day today. I'm on my period, have a ton of housework to get done, it's beautiful outside, and I'm exhausted. Guess what?
How do people fall for MLM's and other scams? I just can't comprehend this.

Desperation.
I have a 130 IQ and I almost fell for one when I was homeless in my 20s
it's not hard to imagine when a lot of people first get introduced to these products in a desperate attempt to help themselves or a loved on who is struggling with their mental/physical health or diagnosis that isn't being helped by doctors and they just want a way to fix it when everything else has failed them. In a way it makes it even sadder because MLM's often target these people in their desperation
Desperate and vulnerable. Easy prey
Hi, im someone who has autism. And I just wanted to let you know that most importantly I am not offended by either way you chose to address people with autism. But I did want to say I appreciate how you address that it is not a "problem" or something that needs "fixed". That alone is very helpful to the community and people who might who might have only heard it spoken about in a negative way ❤
My roommate, who is a nursing student, overheard "medical grade water" and almost had an aneurysm he was so flabbergasted at the concept 😭😭
I have autism and the best thing I did was seek therapy. It was very helpful to talk to someone and learn some coping mechanisms. It's so harmful to tell someone not to seek the help they need.
Today I learned a new word: emetophobia. Entertaining, kind, AND educational - is there anything Hannah Alonzo can't do on UA-cam??!
I actually rewatched 3 times the water washing part because I couldn’t comprehend what I was hearing! Oh myyy…. Why didn’t I think of that?!? Washing with detergent all my life instead of just using purified water and saving all that money!? I’m so stupid!
Lmao the peanut butter video 😂😂 I hope you can laugh at it now but I can imagine I’d be flipping tables during the moment!
I love my 6-3:30 job at a metal manufacturing company 🎉 consistency, good pay, i leave my work behind when i go home
I have many autistic friends, and wouldn't change them for the world. The "need" to fix autistic children is just sad.
Being able to deeply focus on a task is kind of superpower
