@Steve Richards if you wanted it and could afford it you’d have it. There’s Rolex stores in every major city in America please don’t act like you can’t find a reputable source. You don’t have to buy things from a dealer.
@@anmsasmr8414 you have no idea what you’re talking about. First of all, there’s no such thing as a “Rolex store” in the US, they use a dealer network. The issue is the authorized ones never have the popular models unless you want to wait possibly years on a list. You may never get one unless you’re a good customer.
If they do direct selling but don’t increase the production, you still are going to have grey market dealers because some people will buy the watches as soon as they come out.
It's part of the "luxury" aspect. You want people to struggle to get watches even if You got the money

I understand Marcos hesitance on blasting these fools on social media. It can lead to an unnecessary risk to the business from litigation costs. The one guy second from last who'd bought a watch was the only one I felt slightly sorry for and thankfully I think you did too as you resolved it. He should've been honest and not tried the bs but was pleased you still offered to help.
I truly believe he was just not knowledgeable about what he wanted to do. He just didn’t have the whole picture and thought he was gonna flip a discontinued watch. Once he was open minded it worked out for all involved.
I’d start getting people signing documents and if/when they don’t deliver on their promises, then their payment balance goes to collections.
That would prevent more business than they get. When it comes to luxury items people don’t want contracts and sign papers. Drop money and get something in return. You bring documents into it it scares rich/well off away.
@@joshuaford9942 they wouldn't be in this situation if they were paid in cash. I'm guessing that with the price of inventory they have to turn these around quickly because the money is borrowed from a bank. If they had enough cash on hand I think they would default to court since they seem to have all the paperwork and evidence to back it up. They are trying to settle this out of court to get cash faster than getting from court
@@joshuaford9942 they do this at strip clubs and online sports book it’s simple to get a photo copy of a ID sand have then sign it. I have wholesalers who make me do this when I get a 5% discount
Make deposits non refundable so if they don’t pull through you’re covered on the loss of their is one.
If the customer charges back they win the case most of the time if the product was never delivered. Trust me, I run a business that deals with chargebacks all the time. It's a flip of the coin.

I don't think so. When money is involved and it's a lot. People tend to do evil things to get that money or get ahead. They're talking about thousands of dollars in profit. Even if this is "scripted". What possible benefit does it do to the watch industry. It only paints the whole watch industry a bad picture. Aww the paypal address scam. Change to an Unconfirmed Address, and then the Seller looses all Protection from paypal. The "victim" can claim they weren't the one that made the purchase or created the "fake" address (even if the address is real). You can also get screwed if the buyer is able to update/forward the package in mid transit without your say so. Even if you addressed the package originally to a Confirmed Address, paypal only cares about the final address. Not who changed it, etc.
I went through this nightmare (buyer forwarded address midshipment even though I said no), and have never used ebay/paypal since.

Your 50k watch is fake. "Oh really? That's weird." I'm a watch repairman and the few times I've had customers come in with fake gold Rolex or Cartier watches that they bought for thousands, they were highly upset and shocked. No one's going to be casual about that.
I know how that feels when people back out from deals very upsetting all you gotta do is never deal with them anymore.

@@tonys8448 Lol no one has time to do that, as someone who knows this industry fairly well contracts are a waste of time, most people who call are tire kickers, the goal is to build relationships with the few guys who will always be interested in doing proper business. Know what they want and if you accommodate their needs you'll do fine.
Contracts are useless because just as much as the customers can be a waste of time the same applies to jewellers & dealers. They advertise things that they don't have then tell you it'll take probably 2 weeks to arrive and often don't even deliver, it's always one story or another. The best you can do is get a deposit if you're going to order the timepiece or if you have it there and then get the wire or cash, no need for all these back and forths especially if the buyer knows what they want & you have it.
Don't chase them, it's easy to tell when someone is wasting your time, just put the ball in their court and let them make a move, they'll either follow through or they won't. Most of your money is made by returning customers anyway.
@Haks What do you mean nobody has time to do that? There are countless UA-cam channels that are all scripted like that and get millions of hits making hundreds of thousands of not millions, they have plenty of time for it, it's their job.

Marco is defending his business with that sort of caution. Why risk it with the kind of money they make from the business for a channel with less than 100k subs?
I know, you'll say there is no risk. But there certainly is. The law is imperfect, judges are imperfect, juries are imperfect. Even if you're 100% in the right, that doesn't guarantee you a win in court. Even if what you say is true, that doesn't guarantee that a slick lawyer couldn't convince a judge that it isn't.
Marco even said in Discord or other private forums is one thing. The people there would benefit from knowing which clients or dealers are shit or back out of deals in shady fashion. There is no added benefit to blasting people on YT. It's all risk, and for what?

The audio recordings and video proof proving they committed CC fraud etc. is all they would need. I'd put my entire career on the line.

Well. It is supply and demand. If prices go up, people will get greedy. You can't change human nature. Everyone has a price. You can only do what is in your control. That means when markets are crazy be fast. Don't be slow or others offering more will get in between. About stolen stuff: all you can do is say bye to credit cards and take cash only. Or take it as part of costs of doing business, because some of it will get stolen always. You can't avoid.

All of this is the reason why I have given up on watches. The watch world has turned into nothing but shady used car salesmen including the manufactures. Not saying these guys are shady just pointing out the watch world has gone to crap.

People would appreciate the craftsmanship and time it takes to manufacture a quality time piece. People would hold on to watches and pass them down to generations, but now people only care about making a quick buck. Money ruins everything!!
This behaviour is surrounding almost every luxury consumer good now. Clothes, watches, bags, shoes. The "market" isnt determined by the manufacturers and consumers anymore its decided by the middlemen when it comes to these things, all it does is inflate prices until everyone ends up feeling the same as you and stop spending extra money on these goods. Then the bubble pops.

@@imgaryrb The best thing to do is find 1-3 dealers in your city, if you travel often maybe build relationships in places like Geneva but overall dealers today are useless. They advertise everything they don't even have and want you waiting weeks just to tell you an excuse for why it may not be possible to get hold of whatever product not knowing they received it, it's just that the price has gone up so they'll never offer to keep the deposit and source another, they'll say they'll return the deposit and let you know if they come across one just to call you a few days later and say they magically found what you've been looking for together for a month only that there's a new price attached smh LOL I really hate these dealers man
