    There are some really beautiful watches out there, but the overinflated pricing is reaching a point where a major correction is likely to occur in the not too far off future. The basic laws of economics regarding "supply vs demand" will be the downfall of the grey market. The grey market inventories are approaching hoarding levels and when you have more supply than demand, a correction is inevitable. For the first time in about 2 years, I'm seeing discounts from online resellers...and not just the common wire transfer discount either but legit discounts where the dealers are just breaking even. This is due to HIGH inventory that isn't being offset by high demand. These signs show at the beginning stages of a crash. I'll be ready to buy when the inevitable crash takes place (stock market and real estate market crashes are examples of what happens when pricing goes parabolic) because buying now will be a recipe for disaster. My advice if you are buying now, get in and out fast on the flip so you don't get stuck with watches that drop in price when the FOMO stops.

    • @crazysk8ter1234
      @crazysk8ter1234 2 роки тому +8

      The greed the grey market dealers have is going to hurt them in the end. They hoard watches, buy all inventory from ADs just to try to resell for 2x-3x retail. They are a middle man that add no value to the market other than to line their own pockets. Its reaching a point where most people have what they want and cant justify the ridiculous mark up of grey dealers so the grey dealers are going to have to lower prices to attract customers significantly to offload their inventory.

    My brother bought a big box of miscellaneous stuff at an auction about 10 years ago and when we got home we found a Rolex green dial sub mariner in the box. This watch was in amazing shape but we didn't no if it was real or not so he took it to a pawn shop and the guy looked at it for like 30 min and he said I can't tell but If its fake it's a really good one and he offered my dumb ass brother $200 for it and he took it like a fucking idiot. The guy acted like he was really taking a risk paying him 200 for it. The auction had a lot if other really high end stuff from the 70's and 80's and there were 2 Tiffany Lamps also in the sale so I am saying it was legit and he got fucked.

    • @jm361
      @jm361 2 роки тому +1

      If your brother was happy. then he was happy.. If he wasn't then he would've held onto them and went some where else..
      My brother did something similar (many many years ago) however he held onto it, found his "shit" was real and never sold it, the family of the guy he bought it from contacted him later and gave him the box along with original receipt(s) purchased through the base exchange, he (my brother) still has it till this day, the man (army vet /officer) whom my brother dealt with had passed, he was super old (war vet from ww2 era) and prior to passing had ask his family to make sure "that kid" got what he thought he had lost and make sure it went to the new owner (my brother), my brother knew the family (well the old man more) he use to help the old man around the yard, car maintenance, doctors appts and such because his semi grown kids were to busy and he told my brother he would sell him (something to remember him by, my brother even visited once a week when he was in hospice care) his watch as long as he "respected time" (he gets it now, hence why he wont sell it) paid the old man around like 2k (back then 2k was alot, our dad lent him the $$ he was short), as of today the watch is worth ALOT.
      It has been appraised several times by several different people. Yes my brother paid our dad back. lol He wanted his money too.. Our father served and was aware of the base selling/ordering stuff like that so he was cool with helping my brother with the difference.
      Talk about a come up, he though for awhile he got taken advantage of, rather it wasn't that. He was given something/paid into something considerable worth alot.
      He knows what he can fetch cash vs auction and money isn't a motivator for him, he says "timing is everything" and "when the time is right he'll let go" and Id have to agree because its his call.
      Im proud he hasn't let paper currency backed by nothing change his mind set. Very proud of him, either way what ever he chooses its his business and I respect it.

    I recently inherited a Rolex from my uncle upon his passing. He purchased it in 1970-1971 while he was in the Army. I don’t really know anything about watches, but have had multiple guests to our home comment on the piece. It’s an Oyster Chronograph that has literally NEVER been worn, it still has a sticker on the case that says “6263”, along with the purchase receipt, box, warranty and miscellaneous paperwork. I don’t think I’ll ever wear it (because I don’t wear jewelry and my uncle never wore it) so I’m fine to leave it in its display case until I pass it on to my son. Any recommendations on storage/display to ensure it remains in pristine condition for another 50 years?

      @@jacksonbauer5199 obviously there are many factors but a unworn oyster, with sticker with supporting documentation is worth quite a bit. It’s very interesting this market for expensive watches…..first.. I feel people are not wearing watches anymore nearly as much as the old days….plus these watches last forever….so like old harleys there’s tons out there…..plus Apple Watch has taken over for its phone use….plus digital watches can set a alarm….plus there making about one million Rolex’s watches ….every..yearly.. (high estimate)…….plus knockoffs. …plus. China well made counterfeits…man that tons of watches…out there…supply and demand. Got to crap out sometime…but so far I’m wrong…
    Ok I get it …date night….out to the club…..shoot craps,,,but that’s for Rich baby boomers and Old people…I don’t think millianys care about that …the next group of rich people (60 million strong)… there video game…Apple Watch…. cell phone with time people..so I can only speculate that this is a losing proposition…it’s not like buying a 67 corvette. Only so many…….And besides that I don’t like wearing heavy watches…so a lot of people feel that way …that said ..I would like one…. Lol. but I got to keep myself in check….as for a investment….I see it as a losing proposition…long time to sell by your self….dealer gives you 50 percent of value…but I could be wrong.

    Meh… once you see a Rolex or ANY other “so called” fine watch in a plastic sealed bag is either used, in good condition or a fake. And IF THE price is over the top - disregard it. It’s not a safe purchase. Never pay for something that looks good if it’s not from an authorized source or without papers. There are so many scammers out there that it’s getting very difficult to tell the truth between real and fake luxury watches.

    I thought this was filmed in 2000's based on the video quality until i saw the iPhone 13. You guys gotta up your game and start uploading in 4K, this looks like garbage.

    These folk come across as phony, made for UA-cam frauds. They remind me of that bounty hunter fraud here on UA-cam who always has a dramatic finish regardless of the circumstances. The goal is views on UA-cam, not the actual product. I guess that makes them similar to professional wrestling.

      patty mayo? dude admits its for entertainment purposes. its pretty obvious his videos are staged and if you can't pick up on that thats on you. doesnt make him a fraud. these watch guys are all legitimate scumbags and liars. I could never work in this industry. must be exhausting.
