I've been playing this game on and off from 2003... honestly, original and GX eras were pretty cool... after synchros and xyz summoning big boss monsters became too easy with no cost basically, and power creep just went through the roof from pendulums and onwards... sad... it was a great game back then
They should just put in different formats for people who want to play like old school slow format and they can release mew card specifically.for that format that is designed for slower play. Then there can be another format for like the modern new cards that is fast paced. Basically set rotation a pool of cards for each format. That way they would make more money and they just released cardsfor each specific format. They used to support formats for a little while but then they just forgot about them. Some people just don't like the old way the game is played. It's too slow for them so you shouldn't like force people to play like that. That's why formats is probably the best way to balance the game
i tried Master Duel today. The first few beginner duels where great , classic yugioh. After that i had this duel where i placed 2 cards in my turn and the opponent made like 12 moves in his turn. Then he made another 5 moves while it was the beginning of my turn and i remembered exactly why i stopped playing yugioh a few years ago. All the other duels went pretty much the same so i'm going to stop playing Again.
I'm a new yugioh player. I played duel links and master duel before and I thought the game was fun. four months ago I started playing irl, I bought the cyber dragon starter decks and I thought I was ready to play, ready to win. but the sad truth hit hard, never won a single match until today, even though I bought some must cyber dragon cards like Infinity. the people in my locals are nice, but when it comes to dueling they are true maineiacs. Negate Negate Negate is that a fun and exciting way to play? am I having fun? Nah I fricking Don't! Tried playing "Mystic mine" Still lost, Tried buying negates and staples Still lost! What is the point of playing a game when you can't do anything in it?
@@otakuray8578 would highly recommend Edison format. It's mid 5ds era and is still slow enough for back and forth if you want something a bit faster than goat. Setting monsters and battle traps are still important and very few things negate. Everything that does negate can only negate specific things
I can feel you, and I play yugioh competitively. Master duel need to change the format from bo1 to bo3. Also, duel format based on era would definitely make master duel much more fun. But alas, konami doesnt care about their best game
I just wish people played this game way more causally. If I could rework this game myself, I would wipe out all extra deck boss monsters after Synchros (even some Synchros themselves to be honest) revert ALL erratas and then limit the amount of certain cards like the Chaos monsters, Heavy Storm, Ring of Destruction, etc.
For me it's the fact you can't play how you want to. For me, I tried to make an all Dragon type deck. That idea is shot since there's not much single elements support for it or even generic that is not an archetype exclusive thing. That and the pendulum mechanics made me quit the game.
Hey bro I feel your pain and it hurt me just the sheer sadness in your voice broke my spirit after GX series I gave up yugioh and found out about syncro and just thought it was a gimmick deck suddenly becoming a tier by removing a part of your deck to fit tuner requirements to use them and as a old school player I had fun with certain requirement cards and magic and trap requirements without having to sacrifice originality in a deck with combo cards vs having to make a theme deck that are studied posted on the web analysis so when someone sees 5 cards after 3 turns your Opponent calls out your theme and now how to take you out. The Pokémon company has done this too with competitive battling back then you can just place strong attacks set the right team and chizzle away now you must use certain units to with stat requirements to defeat your opponent team stratify fast. Same and back to yugioh using the XYZ pendulum and links that speed dueling the theme deck people already have you figured out and I don’t like to play against people I have seen 100 times over because ima use the latest theme deck that everyone that loves to win uses. And this is my apperantly rant and complaint about these fast meta games on all these classic games that I grew up with
you're not the only one bro.....yu gi oh is different now because so many new cards we have to learn....we must learn new combo to play modern yu gi oh.....old yu gi oh is so much simple
The game has sped up so fast…. It’s almost unplayable now. Yugioh was at its peak during the 5D’s era. I could stomach XYZ, pendulum summoning was where I was like “what are you doing Konami?” And link summoning broke me.
I understand what you're saying. But competing Yu-Gi-Oh has always *kinda* been like this. It's always been about being efficient. You're discussing casual/playground Yu-Gi-Oh. Which is an *F-Word* blast! I love having decks with funky themes and charater throw backs. The biggest thing I can recommend is playing with floodgates. Or I guess Gravekeepers. You don't have to play new school, just slow the game down to your pace :)
Greetings here from a current yugioh player. First things first, i dont really feal the same way about the game, but to be fair, i started playing in 2016, so i never played back than and i dont really miss old school yugioh, i just like the modern game. I will admit though that yugioh doesnt really help the casual audiance enough. Tbh, adding an old school format like goat or edison would be cool, but im not sure if that really would fix the problem: Many players want their decks from the childhood be good, but against actual competetive decks they were never good; just nobody played competetive decks back on the school yard etc. So the real problem are uneven opponents: Trying to win with a 2008 casual deck against a 2022 competetive deck just cannot work, independent of which tcg we are talking about. Personally i would be a fan of making multiple formats with more and more bans, which would allow other decks to be good, and making like a casual queue for more casual players, but implementing this would be a lot of work. So yeah, i think that trying to play these bad deck against competetive modern decks is stupid, but I think the problem isnt the game itself, the problem is that it is to hard for you to find similar opponents(aka there isnt a good way in the game to do so).
i disagree, modern , standard and t2 formats in magic the gathering can be pretty the same in meta decks, because wizard of the coast (creator of the cards) mantain a balance in the game and never print a broken card for the first edition of the sets (alpha set was in 93' and 94') so generalize that every tcg is just plain ignorance in don't know about other card games .
something to agree is the resource in both card games mentioned previously in the video (pokemon and magic) can do well in balance the game with that energy and mana resource, it could be a problem in yugioh because your resources is equal to how many cards can you interact with your hand and extra deck , so card draw is been limited heavily and most of the problem could be konami with a powercreep problem with newer cards and mechanics/rulings that only benefits for the new card sets (that konami will expect to sell good) so they don't care about game balance if that affect negatively in buying new cards
I'm sorry to see hundreds of videos on how people fondly remember the time where Yu-Gi-Oh was actually fun. I myself stopped making content about it cuz it's a time capsule for me. However when I discovered the eternal formats I fell in love with the game again. And I keep getting the new toys for my blue eyes, but I don't go to tournaments anymore. It's honestly a waste of time. Because you either win the dice roll and set up an unbreakable board or try to crack your opponents unbreakable board. And you have to pay for it... I'd be better off buying sleeves or something else 😂
In would give synchro a chance and would highly recommend Edison format. It's mid 5ds era and is still slow enough for back and forth if you want something a bit faster than goat. i can understand the complaiments about the new mechanics new decks and yeah to be honest i am also kinda bored to see the same decks in every duel but still atleast for me is funny to play, i use both fun and character-based decks and also some meta decks, so yeah atleast for me it still can be funny and very entertaining
I would like to put something to rest although Synchro monster did start the down fall. When they first came out they were not the problem it's was still very possible to play a deck completely without them and you can take them down pretty easy. The game TRULY went to shit when XYZ came out because with those cards came the ability to flood the field with monster. Synchros were like ritual monsters but one of the monster was the spell. XYZs didn't have that limit any 2 monster with the same level can be used to summon something. Now we have this Rush dual BS that's so dumb it's pretty widely accepted to be bad.
modern ygo is fine, but what is not fine is the master duel, the banlist should subdue meta rampaging around but they aren't serious about it. Konami should have known by now that many ppl returning to ygo through Master duel are majorly nostalgic players wanting to recall the ygo they used to play. They should have made different mode for old formats (goat, edison,....) to let those those who cannot adapt to modern stuff enjoy playing the game btw: the first duel in the video was DELICIOUS 1 turn kill the duel would be fun & enjoyable if everyone plays against decks that have the same level power as yours. Every yugioh card now has like 3+ effects. You can literally add up to 5 cards from just 1 card. That's insane. It's beyond a disgrace.
“Adapt” = “copy a tournament deck and abandon your own builds” Which is corny and defeats yugioh’s original purpose. Creativity.
