    The worst thing is when someone goes first and pretty much just sets up so many negates that it becomes impossible to even try to play...Pretty much forces you to play handtraps or you are dead. And that's not that easy when there is already limited amounts of space in a deck as it is, especially for a ritual deck for example who need alot of specific spells and stuff

      @saltyskeletor  Рік тому +2

      Yeah i've played against decks like literally negate all attacks, spells/traps, and card effects. Like what on earth are you supposed to?

      Yeah dude that sucks...And also when someone pretty much just floodgates you and just locks you from playing. I honestly just go to game two as soon as I realize that I literally can't play against whatever my opponent is trying to set up or when he activates Dimensional Barrier against my Ritual deck and yeah...GG...I mean sure Plunder Patroll don't care about Dimensional Barrier at all pretty much but still...Yu-gi-oh is pretty much a race nowadays to see who draws the right handtrap or floodgates.

    It always had the same problems, wich i think are the fact that ygo doesnt have set rotation, and the lack of keywords, making it near impossible for someone new to the game to get into it.
    Also, ygo is built around best of 3, but for some reason master duel is bo1, so blind 2nd/1st decks become really good.

      Yeah most other card games have better balancing where there arent very many broken cards.

    Back in 2004, it was worse than today. Ftk combo everywhere

      well maybe i just liked it when i didn't know how to play then because in middle school it was a blast, and it was just me and my friends having fun, now it just feels like its try hards trying their hardest to see who came come up with the most broken OP deck possible.

      Ultron, how is having an unbreakable board turn 1 better? It's probably just as bad.

      It kind of defeats the purpose of the game when both players know who is going to win on turn 2. Old-school went for much longer and just had more suspense to it. You never knew if your opponent was about to draw something you don't have an answer for. It was never a perfect game but even the art style/look of the cards has drastically changed and in my opinion, not for the better. Sometimes simple IS better.

      @@chelseafcfanisy there are staples help u break opponents's board. Kaiju, lava golem, Ra Ball, dark ruler...the list goes on.

      @@MidwestPlumber96 Goat format is the format that can help u with that. Konami knows that there will be players not tolerate the new.

    Yugioh was always like this since year 1 though. You just didnt know how to play it optimally 💁‍♀️

      @saltyskeletor  Рік тому +1

      Well there was alot less broken cards back then but then again i was in middle school so i probably didnt even play the game right 🤷‍♂️

    I do want to note that you cant really objectively say yugioh cant be saved or is broken, because to many people yugioh is fun because of all this. Ofc due to the strong combos people can perform games can turn into non-games, aka games one side cant win for whatever reason, which is enhanced in Master Duel since the game is designed with a sideboard and BO3 in mind, but the explosive combos and neat interactions paired with the skill it takes to properly place your disruptions to disrupt your opponents but also the feeling of slowly picking apart boards is what defines yugioh as a unique and good card game to many
    It has issues ofc, many that we could tackle, maxx C or sacky cards that just win the game if drawn as example, but ultimately to a massive audience modern yugioh is a blast to play.
    on another note, i am always confused why people pick up modern yugioh, refuse to learn modern yugioh (not meant as an insult but comeon, summon skull mentioned as a good deck? there is so many great archetypes its easy to find smth youay enjoy) and then complain that their knowledge of oldschool schoolyard yugiog isnt the same as the competetive game we play. Because tbis schoolyard yugioh still exists. You just need to play it with friends with the rules and cards you want, you have absolute freedom. But if you play yugiog on simulators such as md you will have to accept that schoolyard yugioh never existed here even in fairly early days, where people already had combos to draw their entire deck to ftk or exodia you. Yugiog may have more insane cards nowadays, but that goes for almost all archetypes. And almost all archetypes have a strong way to be played while still staying true to their roots and competetively climb while being enjoyed. Instead of going into Master duel with the mindset of the yugioh you once played in the schoolyard, why not treat it as a new card game and actually invest the time into learning it. The master duel discord is great for this and has channels with helpful people for almost every archetype to explain you combos, matchups, techs etc.

      yeah summoned skull was a mistake, meant to say skull servant. I see your point, I understand i'm judging it from a biased perspective, and it will never be as fun as it was on the school yard. However i still think if you're into combat card games, there are several out there that are more balanced and less chaining as many combos as possible. However to each their own, its just my opinion on the game.

      @@saltyskeletor Thats absolutely fine, everyone can enjoy the card games they want. i myself play other card games too occassionally, but the back and forths of breaking a board in modern ygo and the minute interactions accross just 2 turns is just way more entertaining to me.
      I also gotta admit, outside of this, i do love if i can just do crazy shit. i picked up a Traptrix deck recently for locals, in case you dont know it its meant to be a fairly controlly trap deck, that uses level 4 plants and insects to make some rank 4 XYZ monsters to support it. I picked it up and already piloted like 4 different combo variants at my locals and every local there is atleast 1 person at my table watching the shit i cooked up this week. Is this deck good or meta? nah, but this is so fun. (and i even managed to almost top once and top once within the span of 4 weeks without a meta deck woohoo)
      In short: YGO isnt for everyone, and it doesnt have to be. I think its fine if people like you choose different tcgs or ccgs due to disliking the way modern yugioh plays. The yugioh community itself just reacts very poorly to criticism, because often times the criticism is from a new players perspective that doesnt invest the time into actually learning the game before trying to formulate an objective opinion. And this is ofc agonizing to the community, because it means very biased new player opinions are "kindof" portrayed as more objective stances on the game and are then being published to what could be a potential new player. I am not saying its wrong to state ones opinions, but often people tend to state opinions fairly factual in videos against yugioh, which feels very hypocritical when the people making these statements just didnt play the game enough. So forgive the yugioh community if any reaction was bad/toxic, as for we do get alot of hate from people that come back 20 years and cant accept that 20 years have passed :)
