    I just knew that this dish took a lot of effort to make it.. Maybe next time will try to appreciate this dish more.. My mom always love to order this dish in a chinese restaurant but honestly i dont really like it.. Looks simple but actually take a lot of time to prepare it.. (chopping the spinach.. Beating the egg.. Boiling the water for steaming.. Wait for 2 hours until the dish cooled down.. Chop it... Fry it.. Prepare the pocai for plating.. Cook the mushroom.. Make the thick sauce...). Surely will take more than 3 hours to make a dish like this from scratch.. But.. Thank you for your recipe.. Hopefully got a chance to cook this dish for my mom..

    Hi, Ronan, great recipe, tried it once and it was delicious.
    I wonder if I can prepare this steamed tofu in advance, and store in fridge for few days then just fry it when I want to eat them. Can this tofu be stored and kept fresh in fridge? If yes, how long can I store them?

    Hi there. Really enjoy your videos. How much corn starch should be mixed with water to create the corn starch solution? Thanks in advance.

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  7 років тому

      Hihi. Thank you very much. You can use the ratio of 1:4. If water is not enough to dissolve the flour even after stirring, add just a bit more water. Before you add the solution to your pot/pan, please give it a good stir and stir the gravy in the pot as you pour in the solution to avoid lumpy coagulation. Happy cooking!!

    How would this work by preparing the mushrooms first, then separate sauce (and save) and add mushrooms to spinach-tofu mix before steaming (so mushrooms are cooked into the tofu). Finally, add sauce (and more mushrooms?) for serving. Would the mushrooms add more flavor to the body of the tofu?

      +Caterpillar Kw Hihi. We don’t think you can freeze this tofu because we’ve never seen egg tofu sold in frozen form. However you should be able to keep this in the normal compartment of the fridge for about 1-2 days. We’ve never tried before though so we couldn’t be sure if it can last 2 days. Hope this helps. Happy cooking!

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  6 років тому +2

      Hihi. You can prepare the tofu in advance (without deep-frying). Just leave it in normal fridge - not the freezer. However do note that there will be a lot of water emitted from the tofu so please pat it dry before deep-frying unless you wanna have an oil facial 🤣🤣 happy cooking!

      Good morning from Singapore! Unfortunately no. Would ready made egg tofu be cheap there? Maybe you can just buy ready made ones and put the dish together. Actually the chopped spinach doesn’t really add much taste to the tofu. It’s the gravy that makes the difference.
