    Hi can i use Pressèd Tofu? Its not silkèn or firm but the texture is soft a bit like egg tofu but it contains no egg. Normally its available in 400g prepacked. So if i use 400g tofu, just double the ingredients? Is 2 cups water too much or will it reduce during the braising time? My family ❤ tofu & this dish looks awesome. Also can i substitute Dried Shiitake Mushroom with Fresh Shiitake Mushroom? I think I will USE the Mushroom Soaking water instead. Btw i really like ure recipes they have turned out really well so far for me. 😊

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому +1

      Hi Floral, each egg is about 50g without shell - size wise, our eggs are usually small in size. You should be able to keep the egg tofu for about 1 - 2 days with no problem in the fridge. Happy cooking :)

    Good day Mr. Roland.
    I am interested with the egg tofu.
    I am just curious if we can replace the soy milk with dairy cow milk? Probably it will make the tofu creamier and more fatty? This is because we have difficulty finding soy milk here.
    Thanks a lot.
    - HMP

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому +2

      Hi Dr Huriah.. Unfortunately you can't make tofu using dairy cow milk because tofu is made with soy bean milk. It's an interesting thought to use full cream milk though - might turn out to be egg cheese. :)) Let us know the end result, ya. Happy cooking Doc!

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому

      Hi Ying, you can keep this for about 1 day in the fridge. We've not tried before though. Best not to freeze them too as the texture of the tofu will most likely change. Perhaps you can make the tofu in small batches then you don't have to worry about storing them? Happy cooking!

      Hi James, thank you so much :)) Almond milk is usually used to make almond tofu - as a dessert. We haven't tried making egg tofu with almond milk though so we can't really advise if almond milk can be used.
