It sounds sooooo much better in this video. I actually put your Kraken vs Invective video on parallel and was going through each to compare. In your original video it was the Victory that was victorious :D. But this version of the Invective vs the Kraken it's a tough call! While the Kraken sounds so huge and mean, this clip still sounds huge but more cutting and lean, if that makes sense. And yeap the Invective sounds like a 5150 type of amp. If someone does not like the character of that amp he's not going to like this amp for sure!

I appreciate you doing these videos. To my personal taste, this isn't my sound, and as I'm working to choose a new amp, this helps me narrow things down.

Well John - it's me again. You sold me on this amp back when you first reviewed it. I think a lot of people (not you) who messed with it just simply couldn't figure out how to use it. You can get an ENORMOUS rage of tones just out of the dirty channels. You can go from total fizz to no fizz. Again - I can't stress enough how important it is to max out the post volumes on both OD channels. It really fills out things and reduces fizz as soon as you do that. When you do, you'll notice that there's not a big difference in tone when you go from regular volume to using the master boost (which I usually leave at 5-6).
I've been using a 1960A cabinet loaded with G12T-75's. I was getting a great sound, but something was still not quite right. Sort of had a blanket sound to it. I just stuck a couple of new V30's in it (X pattern), and I am now there. Holy crap - it is perfect!
I can see how some folks might prefer a different tone for metal. I play in a band, though, that requires me to go from bluegrass to metal and everything in between. If you need something with extreme versatility, this thing is a monster. I have to get LOUD cleans without breakup at times, and you sure as hell aren't going to get that out of a 6505, 5150, any EVH, etc.. If you're playing one-trick pony music, then maybe this wouldn't be for you.
I've mentioned this before, but I have a JVM 410H as well. The Invective makes it sound like a carefully executed fart. I haven't even fired it up since I got the Invective. I may just give the Marshall away to charity, as it's just not a good amp.

I met Misha at a guitar clinic in metro Detroit and said he preferred using the actual Precision Drive rather then the on board boost. It’s funny cause when I tried out the Invective with my PD, and that bright dial worked well. There’s a lot of tonal possibilities between the master volume and channel volume. I think it’s a great amp from the times I played on it, and I told Misha thank you for getting Peavey to finally modernize the features that Peavey amps lacked.

I’ve had mine for a little over a year now and it’s a truly amazing sounding amplifier, the amplifier makes it more fun for me to play every time I plug into it I find myself playing a lot more. Overall well built the features are awesome as well, it does sound similar to my 6505 but it also has its own kind of character, as of right now I use the 6505 4x12 cabinet with V30 speakers sounds really good through those. Great video man!🤘

It was actually your original demo of the Invective and the MH version last year that piqued my interest to begin with. I think the tones you got in that video were fantastic. I will agree though that the sound in the recent video was too sizzly (sp?) for my tastes. That being said, it was only the isolated tracks where I noticed the sizzle; it sounded great in the final mix which is where things really matter IMO when it comes to the sound, at least for audio production purposes. Sounding great by itself is one thing but if it doesn’t sound good in a mix then it’s ultimately worthless IMO unless you want to play completely solo, which I am not interested in. Thanks for the cool videos! You always get amazing tones

Comments starting 6:25 are spot on. There are lots of reasons (most of which are perfectly valid imo) people kinda have a sour taste in their mouths about the Invective. When you couple that with the quirkiness in dialing it in, it’s a recipe for people disliking the amp. Dialed in correctly though, it is a killer amp.

I just want to say that I really respect your innate ability to accept “criticism”, roll with it even and create content from it. That’s really genius man. Stay on your game. Also, you said, “I like to keep things fresh and interesting and like to change things up a little bit. There are no rules on how to create videos…” I just want to say that this applies to all of art. There are no rules on how to dial in THAT amp each and EVERY time you play it. There are no rules on the guitar you use, how to have your knobs on the guitar set, string gauge. How hard YOU pick vs someone else. How hard and aggressive YOU bend vs someone. Pedals… it never ends. I LOVE my multi watt Dual Rec. Your videos helped me solidify my purchase. What I’ve learned about it however, every time I play it, I do so with slightly different settings. You know as well as I do how loud this beast is so with the Channel masters on 11-1 o’clock and the final Output volume between 7:30 and 8 is like a plane powering up and taking off. Anything with the Output at 9 o’clock to noon and that plane becomes a supersonic space shuttle leaving the atmosphere. At those wildly different “loudness” settings the tone knobs need tweaking if only by minuscule amounts and all this affects the tone. Everything you change, changes something down the line and grail tone/sound is relative so now we have the variable of whose ears it’s hitting and from what angle out of which speakers. Anyways, just something for the more inexperienced readers to hopefully understand take to heart and THANK YOU, again!

I liked the invective in both video's in the mix. I like the cutting creambacks better. I think the EQ needed a bit more adjustment post, if you did do that. The invective cab has a heavy mag creamback, not the normal one, which is a massive different in its headroom and "airiness" sound.

I think the 2 mic idea was a good one. Ola usually has the SM57 with the Neumann and that seems to create a good balance for high gain tones. Shoot, I like the 57/ribbon combo for all tones really.
Rabea is my favorite guitarist but I am among the few that liked the invective more. Maybe I was just listening from an ‘in the mix’ perspective but hey, how often do you listen to a metal song with only a guitar?
Also I’m 100% with you on the fact that the ‘fizz’ is inherent to the metal icon that is the 5150. Once again, it’s something that doesn’t jump out at you in a mix.
I used to only judge tone based on how the guitar sounds on its own, and never really cared for 5150s actually , but thinking about how it sits in a mix is de way. These days I really want a 5150 :) Tight chunks, good cleans (depending on the model-but none of them are terrible) and the capability to go into doom land with let’s say a rat (my go-to dirt).
And hey, much much respect for responding to your viewers’ comments.

Thanks! I usually use mic blends but to make the Kraken bright enough I needed to use a single 57 for that one. To keep the mic sounds as even as possible I just decided to also stick with that concept for the Invective.
