Lets get that Ultimate Peavey shootout featuring 5150 vs 6505+ vs 6534 vs Invective 120 vs 6505MH vs InvectiveMH
+ JSX
Fuck yeah.
YES DO IIITTTT
Should throw in an EVH just to keep it all inclusive
Can't find a single 6505mh vs Invective MH demo yet
I have one. My review:
Clean channel is really good and overdrives nicely. Gain channel has a lot of mids. Not a great amp to get a really scooped sound and the mids adjustment really doesn’t take enough out imo. I use an EQ in the fx loop to pull out more mids and boost around 100hz. The boost is nice, but I like a bit more so I use a separate one. The tight switch definitely works, but i think it’s a touch too aggressive. It takes a lot of low end and gain out, so I usually have to compensate by turning gain and lows up a little. Noise gate is very good. Cabinet emulation is good enough. 1 watt still sounds great at low volume. This amp gets freakin out at 20 watts. MY ONE WARNING: If you plan on running 4 cable method, this amp might not be for you. It doesn’t have a master volume after the fx loop. This is an important feature to have for the 4 cable method. But overall I like it a lot. It definitely cuts through the band and has good clarity for high gain chords.
The only amp i've wanted since my 6505+ all those years ago.
I always have to replay that intro riff several times before I watch your videos LOL heavy and inspiring
Damn man you are pumping out some videos. Love it.
Finally been waiting since you had it the first time and we got that little teaser.....sounds great
That tune is definitely a keeper. Nice job, Fluff!
Wait, the MH doesn't stand for "Misha Hugs?"
SuperJiggawhat STFU, idiot.
Bill Forest It stands for Magic Helmet, you stupid fuck.
Bill Forest NEVER.
@@stanknugget ahh by looking at your face, I can see why your mother named you Stank Nugget.
@@stanknugget no, it stands for mushroom head you fuck tard
Comparison video between this and the PRS MT15 please?
Nice job on this Ryan !! Looking forward to the H&K spirit amp demo from you !!
Your 6505MH demo is still my favourite that you've ever done.
This didn't disappoint either
I've been waiting for this review and can't wait to get mine. I pre-ordered one awhile ago from Sweetwater and am just waiting for them to ship. Thanks for the review I thought it sounded great but know it will really crush through a good 4x12. I'll be running mine through a Marshall MF280B.
Killer vid man! I just got the Peavey Invective 120 literally this week and can’t wait to test it out paired with my Torpedo Studio!!!!
Chris grab some Ownhammer IR’s and you’ll be good 🤘🤘
All the bells and whistles without the price tag to go with it. Time to check this little bad boy out. Thanks Ryan!!
Great tune Fluff. And great job on the vid. 🤘🏽
Sounds really good. Not a peavey guy normally but just might give this little guy a try. Awesome demo Fluff keep on keeping on brother.
Its fizzy and congested irl, all the videos praising it are bs
John Fields did an amazing job on both invectives. Nice to hear a demo with the killer INV CLEAN channel for a change. We ALL know it does the djugga just fine, but the clean on that amp is one of the best ever in a gain amp.
Yes Bruce! Keep this format!!! Little bit of sounds and then some info and more sounds and info.
Great video dude! You continue to inspire me!
Next amp... I've been waiting for this to come out!
Can you try this with that hybrid rig? (Yes I know it has cabless features already, but does it have built in effects?)
I’ve been using a 5150iii 50 watt head over the past year, looks like I may need to get one of these to pair up with it. Sounds sick!
I find the 5150iii a little fizzy but the 6505mh is a bit woofy without an od. Hopefully this is a happy medium
The 5150iii is so great sounding
pizzaROX totally. Super happy I purchased one!
Great demo, fluff!
Love the classic Peavey logo.
Sounds amazing.
holy hell this was a tasty demo, that armada is freakin gorgeous!
Holy God you took the words out of my mouth 😂
Also we need a full in depth review on this puppy.
That was an amazing demo song!!!! Love the Invective MH more than the 6505 MH
Finally a demo
I play bass and I think you made me want to get one when I feel like playing guitar.
Really cool demo song!
uh, maybe you should have used a cab. . .
Heka41 agreed... the built in cab sim is the worst but you gotta think how much better it will sound with a real cab or quality IR’s
So you like this unit better than the Hughes and Kettner Grandmiester 40? Which you gave a really good video on it as well.
Damn that sounds amazing!
Finally a new drum sound.. that sound waaay better.
That Kieth guy has some sick pickups :)
Yeah... I wasn't gonna be that guy, but I guess it was inevitable that someone would be.
Kieth should get a signature keisel guitar
Like finger nails on a chalkboard.
If he made a Shceter guitar I'd buy it.
@@westernfilet have you tried them? he always gets killer tones and was thinking about getting a pair eventually.
These things still arent out. Been having mine on preorder since October...
Ryan, you definitely need to demo the PRS MT15. They use 6L6's instead of the EL84's and it has amazing Fender cleans and Uberschall meets Archon gain. I think you would love it.
I bought one, it's a HUGE sounding amp!
@@barndawg77 returned 2. mt-15 FX loop plagued with noise. if you get a good one, or if you don't need an FX loop it's the best bang / buck on the market. bought a victory kraken with 6L6's instead and it crushes.
@@illegalgardener Exactly, had mine "repaired" because it was so bad. Had a loaner , same issue... Got mine back same issue. Unusable noise on the loop which is sad because I love the sound.
No clean on the kraken?
How does the gain channel compare to the 6505 MH? Is it the same guts + some added effects (boost, noise gate, etc.), or is it tweaked?
I always loved the 6505 rhythm channel. I always thought the Lead was a *bit* too much gain for my taste. I wonder if hitting the "tight" button on this puts it in Rhythm territory...?
Would have loved to see a 6l6 version with full independent EQ for both clean and gain. Midi as well should have been bought down from the 120. Who knows they may make a 50w version down to 2w power soak.
It means a global master volume and what do you need to control the channels I don't think you mentioned if it came with a foot switch or is it midi control
Great sounds. I'm into modellers but my oooh mi this temps me to tube!
With gate, boost and tight switches turned off, would you say you can get the same tones as the 6505 mini head? It's the same preamp (3 x 12AX7) and power amp (2 x EL84) sections. I have a Precision Drive pedal, so I'm pretty sure that would cover the gate, boost and tight features pretty egregiously =)
This is a must buy besides not having a built in bias probe port for changing out tubes. I'm still getting one but dang.
FINALLY an actual demo! The NAMM "demo" was a freaking joke. Thing sounds pretty awesome.
I understand that this is half the price, but comparison to the Revv D20?
I’d love to see your eq and compression settings for this.
Does anyone know if this can get good blues/rock tones? And is it loud enough to play w/ an unmiced drummer?
Music saved my life, Ive had a rough few years battling with my own demons but picking up a guitar has pulled me out of the deep end and im making some real strides in my life and I have you to thank for it. If it wasnt for your videos I wouldnt be here, love you so much man, youre a true inspiration.
p.s that music man is so pretty, i hope that one day ill have my own :))
So, the MH compared to the 120w version; what are the differences sonically? Have they compensated the different circuitry to the point where you can dial in the same values and get the exact same tone? For the high gain that is. Also what about headroom?
But is the tone the same as the 6505MH which can be found very cheap?
please please do a review of the PRS Mt15 Mark tremonti's mini head
Did Peavey force you to use the cab simulated output?
I was pretty disappointed when he said he was only using the di output for the test. I have a 6505mh and never use the di output because it sounds like a wet blanket over a cab.
@@ledheavy26 I wish you could use the XLR out without the speaker Sim. That would be awesome for homerecording... Just some good IRs and boom!
@@chrismonaut You could always just use the effect send to your audio interface and accomplish that. I do it with my Mark 5:25 all the time.
@@anxiousnation3820 I've never tried the direct output of the MarkV:25 despite having owned one for 3 years. How does it sound for the heavy tones and the chugging? If I sounds good that would make recording a lot easier.
@@skullkrusher4418 You will need to use a cab ir for it to work. I personally use ownhammer and I think it sounds as good as a mic'd cab. There are free ir vst's out there and ownhammer has some free ir's you could grab so it wont cost you anything to try it.
This demo is brilliant! Such a fantastic amp that can produce such a beefy tone!
Please could you do a video on the Engl Gigmaster 30 !!
Gazza
Gareth Hill you’re kidding right? He
Didn’t even plug it into a cabinet, just used the literal worst cab-sim on
The market (seriously, Mesa cab clone is better than peavey’s garbage sims. Not to trash the amp, I have it preordered and am anxiously awaiting it cuz Peavey makes Amps better than almost anyone in this range. But they need to spend more money on developing the cab sims
They insist on wasting valuable chassis space for, which I know people, myself included, would be willing to pay extra for. Cuz it’s super useful, and works wonders when it’s done correctly. This however is a waste and makes me wonder what this amp would be like and they abandoned their craptastic cab sim fantasy and used that space
For some decent sized power tubes, a couple 6L6’s instead of the el84’s that only Friedman and Mesa know how to make sound good for some reason.
So much wasted space. So much potential.
Still gonna play the f*ck out of it. Cuz it’s 90% my dream amp. I’ll just be thinking “what if they did THIS instead...” the whole time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When your plugged in through MSDI Can you stil play through your cab and record through MSDI at the same time?
Matt Wengler I’m pretty sure you can use both at the same time.
I know I'm a year late, but anyone have experience with this? If you use the MSDI to record and have a cab hooked up does the cab push sound?
Like the XLR doesn't cut the cab does it? It's the one thing keeping me from getting this or the 6505 combo
I was always impressed with peavey's commitment to durable amplification but, wow.. This offering is the best sounding guitar amp from them yet and @700 bucks? It's the new king of the mountain...
Want midi control on a mini head. I thought Misha would have done that >.< Wish I liked the sound of the grandmeister, I'd still be using that. Thanks for the demo!
It’s great how guitarist are only just starting to realize they only need to be hanging around 20w to jam live. Pretty soon 100w amps are going to be a thing of the past.
I can make my house shake with a boosted valveking MH.
Brian Village I agree with this! Classic Marshall heads sound great, but I feel like there isn’t much of a need for that much power anymore. I’m getting a PRS MT15 head soon, and I have a feeling it’ll be PLENTY loud
It seems that you have not yet realized what headroom is.
Yea 20w is plenty if you're doing Bob Segar covers at the VFW. That's the same kind of mindset that brought us the 4 cylinder Mustang
@@adamdopierala4577 This is true man. These guys are definitely only gigging bar & grills talking like that.
@@oshikiri999 the only use for 50 and 100 watt amplifiers was for giant outdoor festival shows with thousands of people. they don’t really serve a purpose anymore because any amplifier or amp sim can be routed through front of house sound, which was not possible back in the day. i’m very willing to bet that not only are most people who buy 100 watt amps playing shows in basements or in places that have a FOH system (with the volume at 1 no less) but they’re also playing in the 21st century, not the 80s, and for only the other bands at the gig, not thousands of screaming teen girls.
Does anyone know if this has midi? And if I can plug straight to pa speaker? Like at a bar gig or something?
Amazing video as always! I want to ask, what’s your choice between Peavey Invective MH and the PRS MT 15 for play Hardcore/ Metal?
One feature about the MH that’s not even on the 120 is that it is dual voltage. There is a switch on the back that makes it go between 115-220/230V. That’s incredible.
Your beard is majestic.
You can use a cab to monitor though, right?
I am considering buying this amp. I dig the bass-y clean channel but I'm worried the distortion channel might sound like a 6505. Had one for a few months and sold it. Distortion sounded thin to me.
How so you like it compared to the 6505 MH? If you were to drop the cash which would you go with?
Man, your channel is awesome and very helpful for me!
One question: wich one you prefer for play Hardcore/metal and don’t need a clean channel? (just a killer gain):
-EVH 5150 Stealth 50W
Or
-Pavey Invective MH
Thanks and keep on with your hard and amazing work!
Does the MH come with the same footswitch as it's big brother?.. or indeed if not, cannot still be bought separately and used with the MH?
Please do a compare video with the PRS MT15, we all need it!
Invective / EVH5150 / Blackstar HT series. What would you prefer for your own music? Iv gotten a black star recently and it's nice, but considering getting the 5150, but this sounds great too 😭😭
I have the 50 watt EVH and it's awesome
Before that I had the EVH lbx ii, which was also great, but it only just didn't have enough head room for band practice, same with my marshall dsl 20
bit of a compromise in feature changes with this mini version but it's definitely still well worth the money. one of the best amp line releases i've seen to date.
Damn that's a great sounding amp
that music man looks soo good
Stupid question: how do you use the mic simulated direct out? Do you need to have the Head connected to a cabinet/load box ? Could not find anything in the manual. Thank you for the demo video. Cheers
Saber Reiter This is a commonly asked question as of late. There is a dummy load button on the back so you can use that or a load box. You just gotta be careful you remember to use it correctly. Rock on 🤘
@@TacomaEscape Thanks for the answer! Seems pretty neat. Cheers
When the demo sounds way better than the intro
Great video as always and this amp sounds like what I need right now but isn’t available in my country yet. So if I have my friend bring it from USA where the voltage is 110V, Can I use it here where the voltage is 220V ?? I saw a fuse that may have an option at 1:42 in this video. I would appreciate a response from anyone who can shed light on this issue.
I think the cab sim sounded great! Folks below need an ear lavage. But if you did pair it with a cab, would you just go with a peavey cab? Or any opinions?
6505mh or invective mh witch do you prefer?
Damn was hoping for a mic'd cab'd demo
Yes !!!...seems really awsome...I must try this great new amp...I always loved Peavey amps....it should be good for this one too !!!!...Great great demo...just a question not about the amp....what's you drum software ???....it's really greats stuff !!!....Thanx so much...keep rockin !
Imma have to go to Guitar Center and see if they got that
I’m torn between this and the grandmiester deluxe. Thought?
So do you need an overdrive still
And another Peavey Amp for the win! Love the brand. Without looking it up online, can you tell me if it is made in the USA? I know it is on the front of some of there amps if it is USA made, did not notice.
Good demo. I remember the original Invective demo you did. Had me sold on this product after watching it. Just don't have the funds for the real deal.
Blake Curtis I called and talked to their engineer in the US and he said all Peavey Invectives are made in China now. The first run 120’s were made in the US and then moved to China. I was a bit worried about it being made in China but their engineer said they’re assembled under strict Peavey protocols. I just got the 120 this week and can’t wait to test it out.
How would this handle a Savage Boost?
how can i get a recording of the music at 1:07
Fluff, will you compare the Peavey Invective MH20 against the PRS MT15. I love my MT15 but am liking the extras in the MH20. Having the built in boost and noise gate makes a plug-n-play easier. If they would have the BBE Sonic Maximize in the loop also with 6L6 power tubes, that would be the perfect amp. Guitar, cable, amp........that is my dream amp.
The chug test kinda convinced me that if i were to use the direct out on this amp, i would defeat the speaker emulator and use an IR on it - be it in a DAW plugin or something like a Torpedo CAB for playing live into a FOH desk. That's pretty much my only critique with this demo. -- I get that its a better emulated output than other amps, but I don't think that's a high bar to reach. I also think there is a sea change coming for emulated outputs with the Revv D20.
The amp has nen Passive EQ so the real AMP Sound is Low Mid an High on 10. Sounds quiet good if you tame the gain a bit btw.
@riffs,beardsandgear,is it mono? My friend has 2 412's
Can you please give me a biasing setting for this head, no one seems to offer one. This is definitely the first el84 amp that even has a bias point so I'm a little lost
Would you do a comparison video between the Invective MH and the 6505 MH? From what I can hear (could be the limitations of UA-cam, my speakers, my ears, or some other reason (paranormal?)) it doesn't sound much different than the 6505 MH.
Can you possibly review the coolmusic insane distortion pedal? Is like a 40 or 45 dollars pedal and apparently its pretty good or... decent for metal it has an fat boost knob and... I dont know
How did you get that drum sound on invasion, sounds crispii
Would you be able to bypass the built in cabsim, and use this without cab if you wanted another IR?
Andreas Isbrandt You can only use their cab but if you want to use different IR’s then you’d have to use a Loadbox.
I'm starting to realize that 5150 circuits and EL34 or EL84 power sections is where the good tone's at.
Can you please make an impulse response of your live rig? Please!!!!
I need some community suggestion, I’m planning to buy the Invective but I don’t know what to get, the 120 or mh, I don’t need 120 watts of power but I like all the features that comes with it, and my ears favours 6L6 over EL84 but the mh is so affordable and all I need really is 20 watts, 50 the most, anything past that it would be just too loud.
do we know at all when this thing comes out?
Vigne They’re shooting for July last time Peavey told me.
