The issue is largely that many people say something pretty hateful and then try to pass it off as "just a joke" (usually followed by "your generation has no sense of humor or some garbage depending on how old they are) when it's clearly not. If people hear enough from other's talking about their personal circumstances like this, they aren't exactly going to feel accepted or willing to be open, and will likely be less inclined to take a piece of humor as anything but an attack (because it so often is). It's just a shame that so many people hide behind an excuse of humor to the point that it's caused such an adverse reaction. You should able to joke about anything, even darker matters, as long as it's in somewhat good taste. Unfortunately many people just being straight assholes has had a knee jerk effect where effected communities are just totally intolerant to even joke's, which is kind of understandable honestly. It's less people like you or Dave, more the portion of the population that has legitimate homophobia.
@@AveSicarius Sold points! It's also frustrating to see how many people (particularly in marginalized groups) are only too happy to laugh at jokes about _other_ marginalized groups, only to raise hypocritical hell when the joke is about _them._ Yeah?

I find it hilarious that the greatest amount of compassion I ever heard to someone was towards trans person who got harassed by other trans people into suicide and I only learned her story from a "transphobe"?
Apparently that's not why she killed herself. There's definitely toxic elements in the trans community (though much of the actual toxicity seems to be coming from populists in general, who often are not trans) just like any, but that's not why Daphne Dorman killed herself. Her own family has said this, so, not sure how we can take any other stance on the matter. Suicide rates are sky high in the trans community for a reason, and it's not hard to understand why. If you are ostracized by a good portion of the people around you, who treat you with disgust or outright hatred, but you can't conform because that's even worse for your mental health, it's not hard to understand why you might be seriously depressed. People who commit suicide don't see a way out, that's apparently pretty common for trans people. If anything the trans community itself is also being influenced by the lack of acceptance in more conservative demographics. Toxicity breeds toxicity after all.
@@AveSicarius 100%. From what I've noticed over the past few years, it's mostly been all of the slacktivists who aren't even trans, let alone LGBTQ+. They use these people as a way to get clout on social media, and all they're doing is alienating people who didn't give a shit in the first place.
@@BasementPepperoni Exactly. It's the same people who are "standing up" for people, who often don't even agree with them, by being just as vitriolic as those they claim to oppose, and who are largely doing it for social credence more than any sort of personal motivation. Hell, I've seen self-ascribed "progressives" attacking Black people for not agreeing with them on topics of their own culture. It's absolutely nuts...
@@OmniphonProductions Of course there is some kind of cognitive bias. If you are marginalized you can finally laugh about crude shit, for example [other marginalized part of society], because it's finally not about you all the time. Yeah.
He walked away from Comedy Central's 50 million and picked it up from Netflix 💰💰💰💵💵💵💵💵
the people trying to cancel Dave are the same people who harassed Daphne into offing herself 😢
Dave's voice has changed over the years makes his comedy worth more to me
He is such a skilled storyteller.
Such a good and decent man.
This goes back to the “lazy “ thing.. where he said.. if one two people laugh hard, “it’s good enough”.
It shows Daphne really made that night cause Dave really saw how invested they were in his jokes.
He is not just the smartest comedian alive, he is probably the most intelligent social commentator we have. Unfortunately, most people never learn how to think. They are only taught what to think.
'not the hokey pokey, not what its all about' - this was great.
Dave is Genius....you never listen to him without rip your ribs, Holla from Tanzania
This in many ways is better than the last few specials.
One of my favorite techniques I really like that he employs is when early in the set he talks about a certain thing, then later once it has left your mind he brings it back and ties the stories together. Absolutely great story telling technique and comedic effect from this master of the comedy craft. Love him.
LMAO! 🤣😅 I will never cancel Dave, I luv him! 😎
Oh my goodness!! how I would love to see this guy perform live ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤best ever!!
He is the GOAT... there is no other.
He was. Too bad he left for Africa and rejected that $50 mil.
ya he hasn’t been the same. is only funny shit since was recorded long ago. he’s too preachy now. #BringBackTheRealDaveChappelle
@@johndee7478 That is the very reason he is the GOAT.
@@MusicforMe123 agree. But who is this guy???
@@johndee7478 He is John Doe... Dee dee dee dee, dee dee dee dee, dee dee dee goodbye..., dee dee dee dee, dee dee dee dee, dee dee dee, goodbye.........

Love me some Dave Chappell ❤️😂
"Daphne used to be a man" didn't get the response it should've. Sliding misogyny into a story about a trans joke is layered so nicely. Underappreciated.
Dave your are so real n on point
i like the slow burner punchline when he goes to a heartfelt moment to just straight up raunchy on a dime. LMAO always catches us off guard.
Mr. Chappelle, I have watched him over the last 2 decades when he played in men in tights, he is the GOAT of Comedy, yes their are others but he is No#1. Love him he is truly a National Treasure who makes life a little better regardless of who you are.
7:04 "Batman HELP!" 😆😁😂🤣
The most important comedian/truth seeker in our country. Grateful that he chooses to frankly discuss challenging yet relevant issues that are a part of our country and the world. We can agree or disagree respectfully as Americans.
@@thefiresofmountdoom5943
Yeah, I mean who would prefer Neo-Conservatives over theocratic ultra-conservatives with a flair for lying about everything from taxation to immigration, right?
Any sane person in America votes Democrat if only because they aren't so overtly harmful as the Republicans. When you have two shitty choice's, you choose the lesser of two evils.
Dave Chapelle is the Mike Tyson of drawing in crowds and $$$$$, unpredictable and hilarious every fk'n time, they can complain about him, but dont bet against him!!
RIP Daphne Dorman
Non trans people: ThOsE jOkEs ArE oFfEnSiVe!
Trans people: *laugh harder than anyone*
Everyone, please don’t take anything seriously. We have to laugh at one another, nothing personal.
you cant teach the gift of gab,........dave knows how to talk to people and keep them interested.
My favorite bright, intellectual and eminently funny comedian of our times.
RIP Daphne, you were a treasure.
Wow ! This was fun to watch ... He just took us to a time machine front row 😂🤣😁❤
"Probably get a significant tax break" ahahaaha
Bucket list for me is to meet this guy. Dam he is funny...
Dave's not just the best living comedian today, he's our Grio.
a genius, greatest story teller, GOAT.
I'm saving this. Love it
I burst out laughing to realize Prince Charles not Prince.
That Mike pence joke was great
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three T66 turbos with NOS, and a Motec exhaust system.
I find it hilarious that the greatest amount of compassion I ever heard to someone was towards trans person who got harassed by other trans people into suicide and I only learned her story from a "transphobe"?
Yea...shows you how completely full of shit and narcissistic these charlatans and hypocrites really are.
But hey! "stunning and brave" eh??
@@BasementPepperoni
Exactly.
There are absolutely still many problems with modern society, but populism isn't going to do anything but make it worse.
Dave the GOAt of modern comedy ... like the man is taker of the world and the spinner of gold...
It’s so fcked that daphnes own community contributed to her passing.
That wasn’t the correlation why she passed away. That’s false
Even his side remarks and comments are pure comedy gold!! 🤣🤣🤣
People should be allowed to laugh. No one should police laughter!!
Daphne Dorman died by suicide just weeks after receiving a shoutout from Dave Chappelle in his Netflix special Sticks and Stones R.I.P 4/30/75-10/11/19.
Dave, definitely you are a funny and truly honest, friendly man
I tried to thumbs up this video but UA-cam won't let me, but I give this video 100 thumbs up
