Chapelle is obviously a legend, and was hilarious. But I was impressed at how Conan really just backed off and let Dave do his thing. And when he did jump in, it played perfectly with Dave’s lines. Masterful interview, especially when you consider how much more active Conan is in most other interviews.

@Jay Cardon
Trump's border wall is stopping illegal immigrants from over running black cities. Trump's First Step Act freed thousands of black men when he overturned Biden's 1994 Crime Bill which destroyed the black community with mass incarceration. After George Floyd's killing, Trump signed a police reform bill outlawing choke holds. Trump also pardoned the 1st black heavy weight champion Jack Johnson after Obama refused to do it.
Before Trump, Historical Black Colleges had to go to the white house annually to beg for funding...Trump signed an order providing $250 million/yr in 10-year funding to black colleges. Trump's Opportunity Zone program puts $75 billion in 9,000 low income cities, helping black and minority businesses.
Trump and Republicans are pushing for school choice to allow parents in low income areas to send their kids to better schools, Democrats are against this. Obama and Biden could have done all these things, but did nothing to help blacks during their 8 years in office.
Jim Crow Joe Biden used the n-word 13 times in senate, he was mentored by former KKK recuriter Robert Byrd and other segregationists and said he didn't want his kids growing up in a "racial jungle"...blacks who still vote for Biden after that are the real sellouts.
I thought the shirt was more of a hint about black unity

@@oku12 Yes that's true, but not always. If it was shot on film, regardless of how old it is, then yes you can derive true HD or 4K from it. But many TV stations up to the mid 2000's shot on videotape not film, and the resolution recorded to the tape was usually 480i. Even though this youtube video is in 1080p, you can tell the source video is a lower resolution than that and it's merely an upscale. Since this interview is from 2004 there's a possibility it was shot in 720p on tape, but honestly it looks more like 480p to me. They probably did some digital cleanup to it to make it look a bit better, but it's still clearly of a different time.

When was Dave a white guy?
So what your saying is it’s atypical for a white guy to have a black guy as a friend.
@@CorneliusBankz I think Dave Chapelle's earlier work in the early 2000s was mainly influenced by "black jokes" that were referring to a social community with own running gags and stereotypes. Of course a white guy can have black friends but sometimes the jokes we're pretty much a deep dive into modern afroamerican culture. If my dad wouldn't have played in so many bands with black folks I would have absolutely no idea what Newports and their connection are. Also, I'm from Germany, so afro-american culture is a pretty small topic here.

My father introduced my elder brother & I to Dave & Conan back in 04 through VCR tapes. My family is Indian and my father at that time lived in NY working in finance, and had a hobby of archiving American shows cause somehow he thought he would never get to access these shows again once he returned to India permanently, typical Dad. You see he went to college in the States and always missed American TV specially Johnny Carson. Anyways, he’d return home every year for Christmas and would carry these tapes with him to add to his collection. He’d often show my brother and I tapes of Dave, Louis CK & some favourite TV shows of his. I was too young to understand then however my older brother loved it. Few years later (around 08), I caught the bug too and started exploring comedy on my own. Last year, celebrating my Dad’s 73rd, we got him a VCR machine that hooks up to a modern TV screen to remind him of his good old days of taping late night TV & all his favourite shows. The smile on his face was priceless.

Ironically, the people who called him crazy back then are some of the nuttiest people we have today, and now Dave couldn't be more well adjusted and successful in his career. To be honest, I love his newest specials. Some of the highest quality stand up I've seen in a long time.
Maybe haven't really watched tho. Is anything better than old school dave tho? His comedy back then was a mix of real world and extremely crude but it worked in a perfect way.
@@averydarrenkamp8102 There's no doubt the old stuff is untouchable, but honestly, his new stuff is just as good. He's just slightly older so of course his material is going to be a little different. But not really, it's good old Dave, just with more wisdom and a deeper voice from decades of smoking.
@@bjv93 hes gotten real good no doubt I just watched unforgivin and his story telling ability as well as having humor in it is incredible. I miss his younger voice tho real talk lols
@@averydarrenkamp8102 I hear that a lot lol, that's fair. I have long ago gotten used to his deeper voice, I think it's hilarious in it's own way and adds to the fact he's become older and wiser, but I respect your opinion
It's kind of like The Simpsons went from being considered obscene to a family show. They used to ban Simpsons t-shirts in school.
What year was this
I love how D:. C:. Deflects uncomfortable questions with humor.
Conans " Ahh Haa" in that tone. He knows something is gonna come out of the guests mouth, but let's it roll. So many times with Norm Macdonald and Bill Burr. Love it. Best talk show host ever..... Period.
I love Conan, but Graham Norton is a better host.
@@malcharion4379 no
@@malcharion4379 I agree; Norton and O'Brien - very different but equally as good in their own ways and the best from either side of the pond.

Hopefully this means he’s on the pod this week
What podcast?
@@ITYR4NTz Conan needs a friend (conans podcast)
That would be incredible
This was aired in 04
I wouldn't bet on it
I miss skinny Dave Chappell
Dave and Katt are my favourite comedians they make you laugh and advocate at the same time
He looked so happy to get that contract from CC, sad that they tried to control his own show and made him so bitter at the industry that he just walked away from it. Shows you that money isn't everything if you have to work with toxic people
the new dave is a clone.. you can clearly tell this dave and the new one are not the same
@@MrStavon92 could you explain more on how you can tell?
@@courtney263 not to be rude.. but if you really had to ask that question.. this information is not for you.. stay sleep sheep
Bitter? Cute.
@@MrStavon92 lolololololololol typical internet answer. if you read what i put, i asked 'how can YOU tell'. but by your reply it seems you cant answer what i asked. but nevermind dont worry.
Not only is he extremely funny his comedy is also brilliant. so many great comics but he is one of a few you could consider as the GOAT!
For real bro
I still can’t believe they try to cancel him
Ditto!
i can't believe it but he deserves it . my favorite comedian
Or the giraffe!
the uncloned dave was awesome
He was pretty stoned in this interview, slower than usual 😄
Dave Chappelle rocked the show. It was like a damn comedy skit without being a comedy skit. Insane.
