George Carlin was the most brilliant and best American comedian of all time, his speech on Cultural Issues from 1996 was pure comedy gold, and George Carlin's specials like Jammin' in New York, Back in Town, and You Are All Diseased from 1992 to 1999 are my absolute favorites.
Smartphones at least serve a purpose beyond just recording. I could definitely see him complaining about the pervasiveness of modern technology but I doubt he'd put smartphones on the same level as fucking camcorders. I don't know how he'd feel about Snapchat. On the one hand the pic disappears after you view it so it's very in-the-moment, and it's primarily used for sexting so I doubt he'd have a problem with that. On the other hand, it sort of adds to the shortening attention span of modern times. I think he'd be more likely to make fun of Instagram, which has essentially become the new way of taking pictures of anything and everything.
do you even have any idea how old you sound? '...since it's primarily used for sexting' do you enjoy just perpetuating false bullshit that you have no idea about? that's like the rumor-mill tagline parents used about it when it was still in its infancy stage 4 years ago.
I think longer if not as long as portraits have been a thing. I wouldn't say he predicted it but it is a concept you have has evolved. Like how people think the idea of a selfie is weird, while admiring portraits of famous people. The only difference has been the level of accessibility of being that "portrait" has become my accessible. Those famous people paid famous artists do it it, now I have an app that puts my face on those types of images.

Big Mozzarella Almost like we aren’t special and every generation places blame on the two generations before it. Do the best they can and then eventually they will be the generation being told they didn’t do enough. Especially since every generation has had better medical advancements than the ones before it causing them to stay in the workforce longer. As we begin to live longer we also work longer careers, so people aren’t retiring and “getting out of the way “ for the generation below them to ascend as high as they did until later in their respective careers. It’s happened long enough now for where there’s natural order of when people enter and leave the workforce has skipped a beat and there is a log jam at the top.

Carlin literally joked about things that would happen in the future and he was right. That's extreme intelligence that can't be considered luck. The most intelligent comedian that ever stepped on a stage
He was big enough at this point in his career that he knew the people in his audience were his crowd, like minded people that came to see him. He talked about this in an interview in 2008, he definitely wasn't talking to his crowd here he loved his audience and loved the validation.
Oh I can only imagine the level of public outrage, offence taking, predictable twitter hashtags and/or Instagram posts as people attempt to show to world how morally noble they are

Some of his jokes give pleasure, since they express our own hidden indignation. His opinion about elections is really ignorant though. If less people vote, that would lead a country toward less freedom.
It's common sense. 95% of people are just selfish and ignorant. It's not that hard to predict that things will go wrong. Just the public is a group of groupthinkers with no individuals
the fact that he wasn't even trying to be funny and tell jokes. He was being serious and made everyone laugh. Comedy has really changed from OG's like George, Richard Pryor and Bernie Mac.
The way Carlin did comedy is, in some way, more like ancient comedy than most. If people were mostly intelligent nowadays we'd laugh at this but also learn a fucking lot.
"The truth" More like hyperbole and a bunch of drivel and opinion. he has it right on religion and that's about it. Irony how he is basically deified now after all those years he spent railing religion (while sounding dumb and vague on anything else )

I always loved George Carlin.
Jammin' in New York is my favorite of all comedy routines.
the camcorder had me in tears because I can only imagine what he would say about smartphones and snapchat
hi
And surveillance cameras everywhere.

Almost like we aren’t special and every generation places blame on the two generations before it.
