In an interview with The Boston Globe, Burr said "I'm the 'dude, bro' guy." According to the Montreal Gazette, Burr is "a cynic and a contrarian who has never paid any heed to political correctness"
Burr cites Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, Sam Kinison and Patrice O'Neal as the five greatest stand-up comedians of all time.

IMO the best comedians have great delivery of their jokes. Dave Chappelle does it with that unique voice of his. Bill Burr does it also, with that Boston accent which really serves him well as a comedian.

I like how his “jokes” liters just sound like talking and ranting. Definitely makes you respect white guys more. Just flat out, universal funny common sense. Can’t find enough of his stand ups. Definitely needs more.

I don't think that's why he's popular. He definitely does, but there's truth behind his humor and that is the refreshing part of it. He follows traditional humor without catering to whatever narrative that is currently ruining comedy.
