Echo is my favorite of the big 3. Hard to beat for the price and reliability. They stepped it up with this next generation X series even more.

The only problem for me is their big saw isn’t EPA compliant so we USA guys can only use their little saws.

I'd be interested on both of your thoughts on if a ported 7310 could pull double duty for felling/bucking and reasonable milling (30" and under)? I already have a 501 and 620 and am interested in this but I want to be realistic as well about what I am asking for it to do. Part of me thinks I should just go with a 395 and be done with it... just not crazy about the weight!

The way they built this saw just makes sense. Bolt carb to cylinder, hook up controls, air filter base, filter and snap style too cover one piece. I've spent more time fiddling the impulse line onto the cylinder on a 026 than the process you did in the video. It's like Stihl and Husqvarna keep adding complexity when Echo choose an age old approach that just works; 272 style where you can do everything without bending over or moving the saw about - everything easily accessible from the top. It even looks kinda cool. Might have to pick one of these up even though I've thought of Echo as a budget brand, this saw might be the one that speaks to my soul.

One thing I watched and wondered is that the 550xp Mark II which I own and love has near 1 hp more than the 261c if I remember. However the 572xp has less hp than the stihl. Yet in cut times both those classes seem like a toss up when people run them? Any thoughts? I would have bought the stihl for being lighter like ya said but it doesn’t feel lighter in use if that makes sense, the Husky handles very good and feels good in the hands. But yeah if I remember the dyno test said the Husky had more hp however I agree but the stihl is still right there in everyday use!

Man Joe these are great videos. You don’t him-haw around repeating yourself 40 times you get right into it!
Seems to me that the ECHO saws are easier to add HP. Just like that huge amount of squish just turn down the base and you get your compression jump. And getting nearly 8 hp out of a 73 cc saw is just awesome. No offense but the guys without a dyno are just guessing!!

Everyone here, watching, learning and running modified saws, Know good fuel/oil mix, sharp chain, and a good tune are the most important factors to saw life.
Echo has to send these and warranty them to the person using the thing as a shovel wirh the chain backward cutting out tree stumps all day. Questionable fuel, as is tune and zero worry for the saw at all.

I’d like to dive into that and do a full resto on that some day. But when you devote 90% of your content to saws the average guy can’t get then what are your viewers thinking..... Like I said I personally enjoy what you’re doing. One thing that could help some guys that weren’t in the saw scene 70’s 80’s 90’s etc. would be to give a history of the saw and where it fit into the forestry business. Joe- I wanted to ask about your digital degree wheel.
You have to have the saw stable to stay timed correct? The angle finder references to gravity I’m guessing?

Very light slip fit and pressure from the tail stock will do it. Can also run a screw through the port and that will make sure it spins.

Sorry about that, I could do a better job of explaining things at times. It gets difficult because everyone has different styles, some use port time like me. 78 intake 101 exhaust 125 transfer. Others use port heights, and some use the total duration when figuring out what "numbers" to use. They all do the same job, are used to help duplicate results.
