  • 3 full saw builds. Shindiawa 491,Echo 4910, Echo 501p all get full porting treatment. See if the 491 can hang with thr others once ported. Great 50cc porting candidates.

    Love these combos! A brand new 4910 with this build for about the price of a new MS261 or 550xp mk2 would be tough to beat. I used to be in OPE and was an Echo rep. I sent your site to one of my Echo dealers I still keep up with who also has a large tree service. He’s also a Husky dealer. Would love to see him grow his business with your builds!

    Joe you could add a PTWR (Power To Weight Ratio to each saw build-chart /graph. Full tanks and half tanks ratios. Before and after porting
    That would give us a real world expectation when buying a saw and what to expect after we send them get them back
    Just a thought??

    You can pick up a 4910 for about 350$. Get it ported for about 200$, and you have a saw that out performs every other 50cc out there, is lighter than ever other 50cc out there, and is still cheaper than the 261 and 550XP MK2.

    I had two of the older pre Echo Shindaiwa 446s, which later became the Echo 500p- 45 ish cc, similar or maybe the same case as these. The Shin version would run circles around the Echo. I tried swapping some of the parts over to the Echo, muffler, airfilter and housing. It did do better but the echo was not built as well and didnt last very long. Miss those Shins. Lost a fair amount of respect for Echo, really felt like they took a great saw and cheesed it out.

    Great video! Thanks for showing your porting work, and the numbers. Do you leave them with one ring? How much drag would leaving the 2nd ring take? And, I think it is cool you have a dyno and show the numbers. One thing a lot of people think is that all the 50cc saws weigh about the same. These are about a pound lighter than the others. I use a Jonsred 2260 (60cc) a lot for firewood, and it is small and light and fast, but the echo's 50cc are over a pound less than that saw, and not too slow when ported. Thanks!

    • @dynojoemods2764
      @dynojoemods2764  2 роки тому +3

      They are easier to set the port heights. Some can be very difficult to remove, sometimes causing damage. Shaping and blending can be difficult, having to remove and install the caps multiple times. Generally saws with caps need more transfer work.
