"Not unless you have money to burn." Oh the irony. Buying iphone is already burning money.
I met the guy from Apple HQ who is/was the person in charge of AppleCare, he came down to basically tell us we weren’t selling enough. An unhappy man who was very distrustful of users hence the bullshit we see today.
Apple bricked my son's iPhone 6. Took it to the Apple store. Their advice was to get a new phone.
We did...an Android.

She's a genius unlike the self proclaimed ones in Apple stores.

@@TheWabbit she got a PHD for molecular biologist, thats a high level knowledge, for her unbolt a toilet is like teaching her children about basic biology
@@ghoond1314 that's where you're wrong, usually those with a high level of education can barely do basic tasks such as I explained. I live outside a top college with many extremely intelligent people and let me tell you it's not normal for someone as smart as she is to have lower level skills also.
"Money to burn", you say? When she only charges when she recovers the files?
The truth probably is that they want you to pay fore more space in iCloud.
They want you to buy more products
Yeah, they want you to buy a whole new device and they use your data recovery question to try and up sell you a new phone, desktop or tablet.
You should be using a cloud service anyways. Any electronic can break so backing up 2 hard copies and cloud copy for important files is necessary. But that doesn't change the fact that Apple is scammy as heck. I avoid them and was annoyed I had to use an Apple device for work. It's been a good device but I've had really bad experiences with them in the past.
Gaslighting works in the big picture.
I left apple products when an hour long video i shot could not be downloaded from the phone until I paid for a monthly cloud service. They were holding my data hostage, and probably violating anti-racketeering laws in the process.
This company is predatory, and exploitative, and should be boycotted in my opinion. I will NEVER buy another apple product. EVER!
So , it looks like their greed is losing them revenue instead of increasing it.
Yes and no. They’re the worlds first 1 trillion dollar company and they’re currently the most valuable company in the world, so it seems to be working for them. I love apple products but I hate when they do stuff like this
Connect your phone to the computer using usb cable. Unlock the phone. Tap trust on the promt that pops up. If you are using a mac open image capture. on windows open the Microsoft Photos app. Export your video.

this was awesome for her to recover these people's travel photos BUT, the most wonderful thing was when she recovered photos on an ipad of a hiker who was found dead. The family wanted to see his photos of his last days and anything the photos could tell about his passing and get closure. That was super-amazing! Apple had told that family and the police there was nothing they could do
The more I read these comments, the more angry I get at Apple. If it’s true about the hiker’s IPad, then Apple should be brought up on charges of obstructing a death investigation! Why can’t they be charged? It’s costing the public real money and trauma. I’m sure they put money in the right corrupted politicians pockets to keep it from happening or even being investigated! Shit, I just bought a new 11 Pro. If I saw this blog before hand, I would have seriously considered something else, maybe just as good or better for less money. Now I feel bad (and gullible/stupid) for choosing Apple. Well Apple, there will be a next time and if you don’t clean up your act, I’m giving my business to someone else. I’ll bet this really scares you. Assholes! I’m an alumni of Jessa’s Practical Board Repair school. It is just awesome what she has done and created. A very special person indeed. Well at least I can replace my own screens now, but I still refer customers with bigger issues to Jessa. She’s got to be the only person on earth at her level. Assuming her parents paid for that gold plated education, I wonder what they think? Be nice to them this Christmas Jessa. I had my first and only kid at 62, I was praying every day not to have twins or worse! But I love her to death and wouldn’t want it any other way.
PS: The other big scam is the insurance! I made a legitimate claim and the F’g insurance company sent me a rebuilt POS that never did work right! Why I had to shell out for this new one. Nothing like getting it from both ends at the same time. So no insurance on this phone. Most definitely get a good case for your phone, that’s the best and most effective insurance and it’s only one premium. I manage to drop the thing almost every day. Another Apple scam, build phones that will break on the first drop! SMH.
some would call that obstruction of justice
Bruce Chamberlin Yeah strange isn’t it? Consciously withholding evidence for the purpose of commercial interest would seem very illegal to me.
I can’t imagine me doing the same and not going to prison for it. Yeah sorry mister detective but I didn’t want to tell that your victim was in my store and was picked up by somebody in a car, it could hurt my business and I don’t want to ruin the amazing profit of this year, so I said no he wasn’t in my store. Apple factory in China has to have nets to prevent their employees from jumping off the building. What do you expect?
All these nets and I still can’t catch feeling
The nets are not around "apple" factories. The nets are around Foxconn and several other big tech company factories (which are in Taiwan not China by the way). Major companies that use Foxconn -- Acer, Amazon, Apple, Blackberry, Cisco, Dell, Google, HP, Huawei, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft, Motorola, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Toshiba, Vizio.... so I mean basically every electronic device you own probably has at least a piece made in their factories.

@@sevaul when Apple is the biggest client and they provided all the equipments foxconn were using to make those phones?... this was Apple's factory and foxconn was the front they rented. they did for years in the one factory in shenzhen. They knew what they did was driving people to kill themselves and ignored it. Then after the news broke in 2010 they had to scatter like roaches. They find new fonts and continued. Just because there were companies using foxconn doesn't mean they were in the same factory nor were they aware and control like Apple.
@@nhankhuu5643 I still can't believe people think that big tech companies care for people at all
I used to work for Tier 1 support for Apple in Columbus, OH, under a company called electronic youth that was then renamed due to a horrible reputation. It was the first and only job I have quit due to ethical reasons. I was asked to lie to customers during my training and when I asked them: "Are you telling me I am supposed to lie to the customers?" they said, "No! Just avoid telling them the truth." So here is how the lying was happening. If you called with a known issue that had no official resolution to it, you could not tell them it was a known issue and that there was no resolution to it, even if the customer directly asked you if this was a known issue. Apple would tell you to look up whether they were still under warranty, regular first 3-month or purchased extra warranty (up to 3 years from the date of purchase). You were asked to try and sell it to them, full knowing what their issue was not repairable at that time but not being able to tell them it wasn't. You followed the Apple knowledge base you could show your customers too, but on your side there was a section at the bottom called Apple's Eyes Only, where it told you things you could never tell your customers. As a tech, if you told them, they would send you to court. What is even more messed up is that once you realized you couldn't tell them there was no way to fix the issue currently, they had links to a never-ending set of bogus steps of troubleshooting, designed to make the customer think you were working on their problem, eventually tiring them out so much they would just hang up. Apple was doing this for two reasons. On the one hand, to buy them time so they can find a solution to the issue, which I understand fully, and the other, maybe even more important to them, to never seem like their products were knowingly faulty and they could do nothing about it. It was easy after that to claim, "we were working with the customer on resolving the issue, but they hung up the phone before we could finish." Those circular troubleshooting steps I talked about, could last for hours. I knew of techs that were on the phone over 3 hours. As far as how they treated their employees, the ones in the cubicals and behind the phones, not the hip ones in the clear glass Apple stores, it was horrible. They would only pay you $8.38 an hour, with a promise of 50 cent raise in the first 6 months, which no one ever got. I met tech who worked there for 3 years and still were paid the same as day one. They scheduled you one day for 13 hours straight and the next for 1 or 2 hours, and it changed every week. All of this to say, I am not surprised at all they did this. They are the primary reason I am not in computer repair any more.
Quit buying Apple products, and this problem will fix itself.
...Or you could just be responsible and back up your phone... regardless of brand.
@@AngelArsFoundation the point of this video is that apple is lying to their consumers.
ALL companies lie to consumers. Apple is just an easier target because they are so big. If you don't want this issue to effect you then simply back-up your computer/phone/tablet - and then this is a non-issue. Moving on....

They'd just implement more 'screw you' functionality that they'd have to fight. Go Android or go home. You'd be better off with a windows phone.

Yep, here we are. We have reached the moment in history where 'impossible' is now a synonym for 'not profitable for us'.
@
xn bomb And yet it ~could be very profitable for them. If they got into the data recovery business themselves, they would not only keep customers happy, they'd likely be able to sell them that replacement phone more easily, and would win people over from Android. I myself own an Android, and before that a Windows 8.1 phone and before that a iPhone 3GS. The 3GS only had one thing going for it: thousands of apps(that I would never use). My Nokia Lumia 920 is the best phone I have ever owned, and there was still nothing wrong with it other than there were no more updates being pushed to it since it was so old, and my most used app, Skype, no longer worked on it, so I went to an Andriod because of stuff just like this video reports, and I'll most likely stay with Android until something better comes along.

A lot of it is because the type of person these companies are hiring these days. 8:03 "Not unless you have money to burn." That's ironic, coming from an Apple employee...
Having money to burn is my idea of buying an apple product.

Was not an Apple employee
TheIceWarrior wasn’t an apple employee, was someone from the community
This woman is a highly intelligent professional scientist. Apple geniuses are basically one step up from serving shakes and fries at Burger King.
If you're able to serve fries at Burger King and work as an Apple genius you're overqualified.
Andrew Newton you've meant that apple geniuses are few steps down from from serving shakes, fries and burger at fast food restaurant. few steps down on evolution ladder.
Lots of extremely intelligent, talented, and hard working people work at Apple, so this is not really true. Apple also prides themselves on honesty, which is kind of ironic here. I used to work for Apple, and know a lot about their corporate culture. As far as working there goes, the people working at Apple are smart (highest rated tech support for many years in a row), but the people calling the shots have an ugly side. It's really really sad, what this once great company has become.
One of the only stances I stand behind is "customer privacy". I was working there when the FBI wanted to get inside of a terrorist's phone to see the inner workings behind these terrorists, and I proudly stood by Apple when they refused to completely undermine their multi million dollar security. People hated Apple then, but I was PROUD. No, Apple isn't going to throw away everyone's privacy, just because they get some bad press. But this hatefulness of the Right to Repair, that's just sad.
@@markschwartz9905 Ironic considering they recently got busted for spying on people through their microphones to "improve siri" regardless of your privacy options. One dude who was tasked with listening to recorded conversations even came forward and talked about just how much of their users' private lives were revealed.
Jobs wasn't a saint but ever since he passed away literally any and all innovation at Apple ceased to exist. Stop fooling yourself if you think they care about your privacy. They don't. Just like they don't care anymore about anything but vacuuming your wallet for every last penny.
The only thing I will agree with you about is that not every member of Apple staff is an "idiot", like the Rossmann cult would have you believe. For sure, there are morons, but I think it mostly comes down to certain stores, with certain employees, and a great deal of laziness. It wouldn't surprise me if the employees are even tasked with pushing for more expensive repairs regardless of what they actually want to do. This is a common practice in various different businesses.

Not only did he post the video. He also posted all of jessas business info in the description. They have the same methodology about apple and both deserve the best.
@@PerfectBurn101 I agree. My point was just that I appreciated Louis not worrying about her being a competitor.
@@kcgunesq I don't think either of them have to worry about competition. Their biggest competition SHOULD be Apple, but they refuse to do the work that they do. I mean the company that makes the product should be able to service the products they make cheaper than any other 3rd party. Its like Apple doesn't like to make money. Every customer wanting repair that they turn down is lost business. Especially if they don't convince them to buy a new phone. Even if they think a new iPhone is the only solution, they can still buy a used one rather than new from Apple. If they go that route Apple makes no money when someone buys a used Iphone.

@@0xsergy iPhones have also been water resistant since the 7(? from 2016) I believe. I'm not sure what version the couple had, but if you see in the video the screen was cracked anyway, so the water resistance probably wouldn't matter as it could get in through the cracked screen.
Could Jessa consult a lawyer for libel by Apple? Further a lawyer might become interested in a potential class action lawsuit for all the lost data.

No, she cannot. When you go to a forum owned by a company, it's like being invited to someone's house. The owner is free to ask you to leave for any or no reason at all.
I find it despicable that no value is being shown by Apple towards their consumers data. The whole point of a device is data! What’s the purpose of no help is being given to try and retrieve customer data? I’ve been watching Louis and Jessa repairing these devices and used that to start Microsoldering in my area, it’s a great feeling when you fix a device that the customer thought was “beyond” repair and have all of their data intact! @NintendoHacker44I also had a 2008 MBP as well. Graphics card fried just outside of the 3-year Apple Care. Black screen. Toast. Went around in circles with customer service. There was a known issue with the card. Message boards were awash with comments re same. I spent hours on the phone with them. I got an offer of a discount. I went ahead and ordered another laptop. Then I noticed that they had not applied the now-disbanded educational discount (which would have been more than the lousy 80 bucks they'd offered). I asked what's up. The rep (bumped up a few levels, to boot) said that it was my choice. Either the 80 bucks or the edu discount. I said, hmm, edu discount (which would have been around 120-150...I can't remember) or 80 bucks? Which one should I choose? I was livid. It's been a full-on hate ever since. I've got a late 2012 iMac that has run like a dog since updating to Mojave. I've got an iPhone 6 that is a piece of garbage. I think they USED to make good products. Now Tim Cook only thinks about policing his platforms for white supremacists, and funding pride parades. It's become a joke of a company.
@NintendoHacker44 I agree, their last batch of macbooks before the USB-C switch still run great, and the the hard drive can be upgraded to the latest gen NVMe drive fairly easily. Quad core i7, 16 GB ram, retina display, and fastest hard-drive available in any laptop, not bad for a 5 year old machine. However, I wouldn't buy the new macbook without any user-replaceable parts.
The Apple statement in response characterizing Jenna's service as "money to burn" is factually wrong statement that is designed and intended to negatively effect the character of Jenna. The statement fits the very legal definition of slander/libel.
@NintendoHacker44 mac book pro from 2008? okay, so when you are doing stuff and it just boggs down because apple has no concept of cooling a cpu then you are getting less than half of your processor power. I'M sure it absolutely cruses when you are watching youtube and checking your email....laughable point bro. But i will say they USED to be good products untill they started smelling their own farts and LIYING to their customers. that is the key point. xoai00 You are advertising your service on our website that’s stealing money and quite dumb
Apple is saying, “If it’s broke, don’t fix it.”
Well done Jesse. I wish you were near. Love your work
I've been doing IT for a well known non-profit organization. Trying to keep the apple devices squared away has been nothing but a headache. I used to love apple. Now, not only will I have nothing to do with them, I tell all my users that I simply will not support their devices. I've also recommended (repeatedly) to the board of directors how costly apple devices are, not only to buy, but to upkeep. And soldered RAM! I haven't seen such innovation since I was a kid in the 90's. Cuddle up to Linux. You'll be glad you did.
This buffles me...Apple could charge hundreds of $$ for data recovery and their ridiculously loyal customers would gladly pay it...
Tony Beefteki , they don’t know how to do that, lol :)
Apple benefits more from pushing product, selling phones, etc. Being able to recover your phone's content also means people are less likely to sign up for apple's backup services, which is another loss for them. Everything Apple is designed to keep attached to their products in every which way. They're trying to treat their products as heroin addiction, basically.
@@hellangelzx Potentially. iCloud services are 99c a month for the base plan...which is 50 Gigs, more than enough for hundreds of thousands of photos. Data Recovery is *EXPENSIVE* and Apple could (who am I kidding, totally would) charge an even more premium fee for theirs. Your average Data Recovery service is anywhere between $250-$3,000, typically $1/Gig plus a flat fee for labor, etc. If Apple even went middle of the road (which, of course they wouldn't) that's a LIFETIME of iCloud services. This comes right down to them simply wanting you to pay full price to replace your phone.
I dont think many of their apple care technicians are trained to do this kind of work
They try to avoid all repairs and push new devices. Its probable that iPhone motherboard level repair is simply not in the scope of services that apple is able to offer. Changing this, and training their techs would cost a lot of money and would likely mean increasing pay for techs with that expertise. Those factors combined could mean a loss for apple.
I doubt it, but its possible
But who would pay for the cloud storage if they know they can easily recover their content?
moral of the story just dont ever buy apple

People feel very invested in the idea that there must have been a good reason for spending so much money on their apple device. Of course, not all Apple devices are equally bad or equally over-priced, and people who have been very happy with their Apple devices often still feel the need to defend Apple just out of a very mis-placed sense of loyalty. People are prone to doing this with any major brand, they feel like owning a product from a particular brand makes them a part of that team.
Even a brand which actually does make the best products shouldn't be treated as your friend or ally. You never know if they're going to keep making good products, and things often can take a rapid turn for the worse if they get bought by another company. You should always keep an open mind, and don't assume that your product is good or well made just because you haven't had any problems with it.
