I met the guy from Apple HQ who is/was the person in charge of AppleCare, he came down to basically tell us we weren’t selling enough. An unhappy man who was very distrustful of users hence the bullshit we see today.
this was awesome for her to recover these people's travel photos BUT, the most wonderful thing was when she recovered photos on an ipad of a hiker who was found dead. The family wanted to see his photos of his last days and anything the photos could tell about his passing and get closure. That was super-amazing! Apple had told that family and the police there was nothing they could do
The more I read these comments, the more angry I get at Apple. If it’s true about the hiker’s IPad, then Apple should be brought up on charges of obstructing a death investigation! Why can’t they be charged? It’s costing the public real money and trauma. I’m sure they put money in the right corrupted politicians pockets to keep it from happening or even being investigated! Shit, I just bought a new 11 Pro. If I saw this blog before hand, I would have seriously considered something else, maybe just as good or better for less money. Now I feel bad (and gullible/stupid) for choosing Apple. Well Apple, there will be a next time and if you don’t clean up your act, I’m giving my business to someone else. I’ll bet this really scares you. Assholes! I’m an alumni of Jessa’s Practical Board Repair school. It is just awesome what she has done and created. A very special person indeed. Well at least I can replace my own screens now, but I still refer customers with bigger issues to Jessa. She’s got to be the only person on earth at her level. Assuming her parents paid for that gold plated education, I wonder what they think? Be nice to them this Christmas Jessa. I had my first and only kid at 62, I was praying every day not to have twins or worse! But I love her to death and wouldn’t want it any other way.
PS: The other big scam is the insurance! I made a legitimate claim and the F’g insurance company sent me a rebuilt POS that never did work right! Why I had to shell out for this new one. Nothing like getting it from both ends at the same time. So no insurance on this phone. Most definitely get a good case for your phone, that’s the best and most effective insurance and it’s only one premium. I manage to drop the thing almost every day. Another Apple scam, build phones that will break on the first drop! SMH.
Bruce Chamberlin Yeah strange isn’t it? Consciously withholding evidence for the purpose of commercial interest would seem very illegal to me. I can’t imagine me doing the same and not going to prison for it. Yeah sorry mister detective but I didn’t want to tell that your victim was in my store and was picked up by somebody in a car, it could hurt my business and I don’t want to ruin the amazing profit of this year, so I said no he wasn’t in my store. "Money to burn", you say? When she only charges when she recovers the files? The truth probably is that they want you to pay fore more space in iCloud.
You should be using a cloud service anyways. Any electronic can break so backing up 2 hard copies and cloud copy for important files is necessary. But that doesn't change the fact that Apple is scammy as heck. I avoid them and was annoyed I had to use an Apple device for work. It's been a good device but I've had really bad experiences with them in the past.
Yep, I've repaired a few USB memory sticks in my time where the plug has been snapped off, soldering tiny wires to traces with the solder mask scraped off, resulting in extremely grateful people :)

Its a cult, they invest in the "image" of Apple more then the products themselves. What does soldering components and putting artificial barrios in the design in order to force more money out of your customers upfront say how they view their customers ? What does intentional design flaws that limit the life of theirs products say how they view the people who keep them a float. Its a status symbol thats more akin to an abusive relationship and you only stay to the degree in much you have respect for your self.
Please consider using Linux as your OS along with your Android phone. KDE Connect is an excellent way to integrate the two. If the couple in the video had been able to use this product backing up would have been as simple as wirelessly transfering all the pictures from the phone to the pc. And the wireless sharing works both directions. Both devices just need to be on the same network and have the application installed. Linux unlike Windows respects your privacy. Give it a try on a live usb or in a virtual machine.

Went through a similar experience, water damaged phone fell in the beach water, wouldn’t turn on , Geek Squad & Apple said they couldn’t fix it... went to a little family phone repair shop in my neighborhood, & a 16 year old kid there fixed it in a week ... those companies just want you to give in your phone (so they can sell it again refurbished) and make you buy a new one
At least the kid could probably save unbacked-up photos you're never likely to be able to take again... (like of pets or people, at least sand all looks the same) I would expect Apple to build me a time machine so I could re-take the photos 50 times.
A lot of it is because the type of person these companies are hiring these days. They won't pay anyone that can actually fix things, so beyond rebooting it or selling you a new one they don't do anything, and they will say nothing can be done so you buy a new one. Lost your photos? Should have got locked into their cloud storage. Even if they wanted to help you, there's no realistic way for them to lay down a plan to teach all these employees how to retrieve data from water damaged phones, most of the employees themselves are nothing more than braindead consumers following a flowchart.

The problem is that sooner or later Apple phones (and computers, in time) will be unrepairable and unsalvageable. Apple actually invests more on each new model to make sure they'll get to that point.
@ xn bomb And yet it ~could be very profitable for them. If they got into the data recovery business themselves, they would not only keep customers happy, they'd likely be able to sell them that replacement phone more easily, and would win people over from Android. I myself own an Android, and before that a Windows 8.1 phone and before that a iPhone 3GS. The 3GS only had one thing going for it: thousands of apps(that I would never use). My Nokia Lumia 920 is the best phone I have ever owned, and there was still nothing wrong with it other than there were no more updates being pushed to it since it was so old, and my most used app, Skype, no longer worked on it, so I went to an Andriod because of stuff just like this video reports, and I'll most likely stay with Android until something better comes along.

I used to work for Tier 1 support for Apple in Columbus, OH, under a company called electronic youth that was then renamed due to a horrible reputation. It was the first and only job I have quit due to ethical reasons. I was asked to lie to customers during my training and when I asked them: "Are you telling me I am supposed to lie to the customers?" they said, "No! Just avoid telling them the truth." So here is how the lying was happening. If you called with a known issue that had no official resolution to it, you could not tell them it was a known issue and that there was no resolution to it, even if the customer directly asked you if this was a known issue. Apple would tell you to look up whether they were still under warranty, regular first 3-month or purchased extra warranty (up to 3 years from the date of purchase). You were asked to try and sell it to them, full knowing what their issue was not repairable at that time but not being able to tell them it wasn't. You followed the Apple knowledge base you could show your customers too, but on your side there was a section at the bottom called Apple's Eyes Only, where it told you things you could never tell your customers. As a tech, if you told them, they would send you to court. What is even more messed up is that once you realized you couldn't tell them there was no way to fix the issue currently, they had links to a never-ending set of bogus steps of troubleshooting, designed to make the customer think you were working on their problem, eventually tiring them out so much they would just hang up. Apple was doing this for two reasons. On the one hand, to buy them time so they can find a solution to the issue, which I understand fully, and the other, maybe even more important to them, to never seem like their products were knowingly faulty and they could do nothing about it. It was easy after that to claim, "we were working with the customer on resolving the issue, but they hung up the phone before we could finish." Those circular troubleshooting steps I talked about, could last for hours. I knew of techs that were on the phone over 3 hours. As far as how they treated their employees, the ones in the cubicals and behind the phones, not the hip ones in the clear glass Apple stores, it was horrible. They would only pay you $8.38 an hour, with a promise of 50 cent raise in the first 6 months, which no one ever got. I met tech who worked there for 3 years and still were paid the same as day one. They scheduled you one day for 13 hours straight and the next for 1 or 2 hours, and it changed every week. All of this to say, I am not surprised at all they did this. They are the primary reason I am not in computer repair any more.

Lots of extremely intelligent, talented, and hard working people work at Apple, so this is not really true. Apple also prides themselves on honesty, which is kind of ironic here. I used to work for Apple, and know a lot about their corporate culture. As far as working there goes, the people working at Apple are smart (highest rated tech support for many years in a row), but the people calling the shots have an ugly side. It's really really sad, what this once great company has become. One of the only stances I stand behind is "customer privacy". I was working there when the FBI wanted to get inside of a terrorist's phone to see the inner workings behind these terrorists, and I proudly stood by Apple when they refused to completely undermine their multi million dollar security. Unfortunately apple is a billion dollar company and they've been doing this crap since the begining. Their crap buissnes practices have made them loads of money and it isn't stopping soon.
I once answered someone's question about macOS Catalina, and they removed my answer because info about beta software is "confidential". Even though Apple publicly announces beta software.
Yeah, in the molecular biology field, aka academia. Anyone can fix an iphone, there are instructions on the internet. I haven't bought an apple product since they changed firewire to lightning cables or whatever. I like recording music and if I have to keep upgrading tens of thousands of dollars if peripheral equipment just because I got a new laptop it's ridiculous.
It's all about how bad do you want to fix or learn something , if you want it bad enough you will teach yourself .. Ever see the movie the postman ? When kevin takes on the law 8 and he tells the dude , you know why you can't fight ? Because you have nothing to fight for !!
The problem with degrees like this is that there are very few jobs available so you essentially have to relocate to find work. That’s ok if the other spouse has a more easily portable jobs like if they’re a nurse or doctor but if their job is also one that often requires relocating you end up having to pick between your family and your degree. Just aren’t that many job openings in any particular city.

@@creepychris420 I've done basic data recovery. Most people who have valuable data will pay you just to try. even most normal data recovery companies my bos would contract for severe cases would charge a basic fee to try and recover the data and some will charge a flat rate regardless of wether or not they even can recover the data or not. these companies make a lot of money.
@@creepychris420 data recovery isn't about deleted data it's about recovering data from devices. that includes recovering data from water damaged devices. you should do some research if the topic interests you. otherwise talking about it as you do makes you seem like a bit of a muppet.
Apple benefits more from pushing product, selling phones, etc. Being able to recover your phone's content also means people are less likely to sign up for apple's backup services, which is another loss for them. Everything Apple is designed to keep attached to their products in every which way. They're trying to treat their products as heroin addiction, basically.
@@nohmekop Potentially. iCloud services are 99c a month for the base plan...which is 50 Gigs, more than enough for hundreds of thousands of photos. Data Recovery is *EXPENSIVE* and Apple could (who am I kidding, totally would) charge an even more premium fee for theirs. Your average Data Recovery service is anywhere between $250-$3,000, typically $1/Gig plus a flat fee for labor, etc. If Apple even went middle of the road (which, of course they wouldn't) that's a LIFETIME of iCloud services. This comes right down to them simply wanting you to pay full price to replace your phone.
I dont think many of their apple care technicians are trained to do this kind of work They try to avoid all repairs and push new devices. Its probable that iPhone motherboard level repair is simply not in the scope of services that apple is able to offer. Changing this, and training their techs would cost a lot of money and would likely mean increasing pay for techs with that expertise. Those factors combined could mean a loss for apple. I doubt it, but its possible
People feel very invested in the idea that there must have been a good reason for spending so much money on their apple device. Of course, not all Apple devices are equally bad or equally over-priced, and people who have been very happy with their Apple devices often still feel the need to defend Apple just out of a very mis-placed sense of loyalty. People are prone to doing this with any major brand, they feel like owning a product from a particular brand makes them a part of that team. Even a brand which actually does make the best products shouldn't be treated as your friend or ally. You never know if they're going to keep making good products, and things often can take a rapid turn for the worse if they get bought by another company. You should always keep an open mind, and don't assume that your product is good or well made just because you haven't had any problems with it.

@@Frank72364Sure, a company shouldn't be expected to do data recovery based on their business model they are free to choose, however, a company would have a better appreciation by their customers if they didn't outright lie to them and even steered their customers in the direction of some other company that does do data recovery. It may 'seem' counter productive to Apple to suggest to their customers that data can be retrieved by giving money to someone else and not just buying a new phone, but in the long run, I would personally be more loyal to a company that is willing to give their customers the best advice that they can and recommend that company to everyone I know, and I'm sure others would feel that way too. As it is now, I am loyal to no specific phone manufacturer, and just buy whatever phone that fills my needs, and isn't too expensive. It doesn't have to be that way.
Mike S and which company that would be? Which company would know or recommend company who does data recovery? What was the lie you are talking about? Where did Apple lie?
@@Frank72364 Apple is far worse than Samsung for tech support. I say this as a Samsung user whose family is predominantly Apple users. Apple designs for convenience and linking all devices through their cloud. This promotes sales of their own products across multiple platforms that they try to keep exclusive to Apple software because if someone invests they'll see it's a pain in the ass to then switch, which means they're more likely to remain a loyal customer because switching is too difficult or inconvenient. They start off seeming innocent but their support is minimal at best, if you arent buying new you're a second priority, and they deliberately discourage switching or cross-platforming. I wont use then because they care about wallets, not customers.
Nicholas Breecher I don’t know how is that related to this topic but how is Samsung better than Apple with their support? That is interesting claim because studies show it is not true. Every customer wanting repair that they turn down is lost business. Especially if they don't convince them to buy a new phone.

If you're able to serve fries at Burger King and work as an Apple genius you're overqualified.
Andrew Newton you've meant that apple geniuses are few steps down from from serving shakes, fries and burger at fast food restaurant. few steps down on evolution ladder.
People hated Apple then, but I was PROUD. No, Apple isn't going to throw away everyone's privacy, just because they get some bad press. But this hatefulness of the Right to Repair, that's just sad.

@Livid Creature and if you don't have the internet where you're at right now? What if you're in a different country and don't want to pay ridiculous money for cellular internet? iCloud is a convenience, a useful option but not a guaranteed way to keep your data safe. "Money to burn" - How is it money to burn if she DOES NOT charge if she CAN'T get the photos? Doesn't make sense does it!
That's how stupid Apple thinks you are. Great company huh?
You mad? Nobody would pay her if she didn't manage to do it anyway, imagine walking into a shop and them saying I'll try but no promised £300 - deal? She has to offer it that way or she'd have no business lol
@@That0Homeless0Guy it doesn't matter. Deleted data is different from water damage memory. I get what you're saying but no.
@@creepychris420 data recovery isn't about deleted data it's about recovering data from devices. that includes recovering data from water damaged devices. you should do some research if the topic interests you. otherwise talking about it as you do makes you seem like a bit of a muppet.
This buffles me...Apple could charge hundreds of $$ for data recovery and their ridiculously loyal customers would gladly pay it...
Tony Beefteki , they don’t know how to do that, lol :)
I dont think many of their apple care technicians are trained to do this kind of work
They try to avoid all repairs and push new devices.
But who would pay for the cloud storage if they know they can easily recover their content?

And yet, those apple's sheeps would probably dismiss this as an April fools joke...
Apple Fools joke, hehe.
cuz it's all year long in Cupertino
Please stop using that word
EDIT: Actually that seems about right
People feel very invested in the idea that there must have been a good reason for spending so much money on their apple device.

If I drop my phone to the bottom of the lake and lose data, it is my fault. Or is this just anti-Apple propaganda?
E: typo (claim-> blame)
Ofc that can be just your experience, every case is different. I have never had any problems with Apple support.
