What is The Flintstones (1994) about?
Make way for the modern Stone Age family as they make the jump from animated favorites to live-action heroes! There's trouble brewing in Bedrock: a test mix-up has made Fred Flintstone (John Goodman) a vice president at Slate & Company, and now an evil executive (Kyle MacLachlan) and his sinister secretary (Halle Berry) are plotting to use Fred as the fall guy in an embezzlement scheme. Luckily for Fred, his best friend Barney Rubble (Rick Moranis), wife Wilma (Elizabeth Perkins) and her best friend Betty (Rosie O'Donnell) always have the big guy's back in this yabba-dabba-doo of an adventure! Elizabeth Taylor co-stars in the "Steven Spielrock" production filled with dino-sized special effects and classic Flintstones humor.

Back when cinema stuck to the source material, had respect for its fanbase and captivated our hearts everybody. Better times.
You mean before genZ, wokeism and kathleen kennedy?
@@nocturnalrecluse1216 you must BE genZ, because you clearly don't remember how much people HATED this movie when it came out. And yes, I was alive and old enough to recognize it.
wokeism is only to blame because of capitalism. The second Hollywood number crunchers feel being hyper conservative will make them more money, they'll flip faster than Fred sliding down the Bronto tail. The only thing Hollywood is activist for is their bottom line, nothing else. It just so happens far more of the so-called "woke" crowd pay for tickets and buy their merch.
Meanwhile, remove everything "woke" from today's movies and it wouldn't solve a damned thing. All the REAL problems would still be there. Building a coherent narrative, writing interesting characters, following a comprehensible plot structure, not a single bit of it having ANYTHING to do with "woke"
Meanwhile, Kathleen Kennedy has been around from the very beginning. Her name is attached prominently to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Back to the Future for crying out loud. But far be it for those with an agenda to actually KNOW that.
I always thought films in the old days and 2000s were the best. Back when films where in there prime.

"YABBA DABBA DOO!!!"
0:12 🎵Flintstones. Meet The Flintstones. They're a modern stone age family.🎵
Fred: It’s Showtime!
LOL @ youtube "Translate to English" = Changes DABBA to DABA thats it all!?
Fred: (shouts at Wilma) "NOW SEE HERE, WILMA! IN THIS CAVE, I AM THE KING!"
Me: "Maybe so, Fred, but the Queen will always have her say, and may I remind you that the Queen is always loyal to her King, and none of that should ever be taken for granted or abused."
I'm sure it was a terrible movie made for TV audiences but damn that's a faithful live-action adaptation, and look at all the movie props they poured money into. They don't make movies like that anymore.
If you ask me, much more faithful to the source material than movies like Scooby-Doo (2002) or The Last Airbender (2010).
@@atasker7432 because this movie was hated by both the public and the critics. Instead of recognizing and appreciating what we had (and forgetting the dumpster fire we got when a movie strayed from its source material with Super Mario Bros), we acted all high brow and demanded adaptations be "more" than their source material. ... and so, we got Scooby-Doo...
Ironically,... three decades later, they're saying the same thing about the PROPER Super Mario Bros movie, complaining that it leans too heavily on the source material.... even though that's EXACTLY what it SHOULD be doing.
I swear, people are just impossible to please at the time things happen. They wait too damned long to appreciate what we had,... and by that time, its far too late.
This was a theatrical release
What are you talking about the movie was a success. It made $341.6 million on a budget of $46 million. As for the critics who cares. The movie's primary audience were kids and they loved the movie. I can only hope that the adults who grew up on the show also liked it.
The flintstones is returning 2024❤🎉😊❤
Baloo: Yabba Dabba doo
This was a pretty decent movie. Now if they would do Green Acres.
It really speaks volumes to John Goodman's character that he really did not want to do this movie but he still gave it his all. We got a great performance in another wise pretty media for film.
John Goodman was the best Fred flintstone
He certainly was perfect as Fred.
Fred: Sorry 😢
He also hated the role
@@DunjeeTimeit’s amazing how well he did when he clearly just did not want anything to do with the project expect $$$
@@DunjeeTimewhy?? He acted as the character well.
"I also bought a new bowling ball." Way to kill the mood, Fred! 🤣
So that's what he said lol. I thought he said "how's about a new bowling ball?"
🎳
I wish the clip had lasted about 1.5 seconds longer. That little dip they do is nothing spectacular, but it just seems to add the cherry.
Fred: Stupid Dog 🐶
Man, some of the prop makers must have had way too much fun on this movie. The fact that you can actually read the Bedrock News Fred's holding and actually see the place being a workable home is amazing... That paper though. Someone snuck in a reference! 'Pteradactyl crashes in Andes, eats rugby team to survive'. Someone clearly remembered flight 571 from '72!
1:29 The practical props are amazing perfection in simplicity when it comes to showing feats of strength.
"...aaaaand what, Fred???"
Now that's a woman that knows her man, and she can see right through his macho BS
The 90's were awesome for big family movies with practical effects. I remember either McD's or burger king had toys for this one lmao
McDonald’s giving into Spurlock’s scam-umentary and cutting ties to movie advertising was one of the biggest blows to popular culture I can recall, and I think it was a stepping stone to them adopting the “prison Starbucks” look.
@@matthewkrulitski8788 Yeah it's depressing as hell now, at least the resteraunts were bright in the 90's to make up for the shitty food and service lol
Beginning was pretty spot on but missing putting the kids on Dino's head. 😮
For that matter, where are the Rubbles?
Wilma: Fred, Watch Out For The Tree 🌲
Jhon Goodman was more than perfect to play Fred Flintstone
Looks modern
During the time period it's set in it's the modern stone age
@@jesseking1403. Okay 👌 but I meant that it’s modern modern. Because any show or movie 🎥 being a cartoon many years ago and being a live action many years later is modern
1994
Is ancient by most modern "standards" 😆
Fred: Hang On!
The Flintstones is meant to be a parody of The Honeymooners so it’s meant to look modern to 1950s 1960s standards lol.
I still love the practical effects and the puppetering
They did this movie justice

Man. It’s been forever since I’ve seen this movie
The "Univershell" background globe has Pangea on it. Brilliant.
Personally both Univershell logos give me the creeps but if I had to pick one I’d say the one from spring 2000
Happy 30th Anniversary!!!

The movie showings was....Tar Wars. Sounds like an English Thank you movie!!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re welcome 😇
I had a cassette of this movie soundtrack and played this theme OVER AND OVER again… 😂
2:19 Ha! Double meaning!
0:59 my dog used to lick me too when I came home from school
0:16 How'd he give himself whiplash like that? Or was that an accident with the prop's motor and they decided to keep it in for a gag?
It's just an over exaggeration for the gag. Many cartoons did that kind of whiplash when taking off fast.
Wilma: Get Out!
நான் ஆறாம் வகுப்பு படிக்கும் பொழுது இந்த படத்தை பார்த்து கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தேன் இன்னும் என் மனதில் இந்த படம் உள்ளது😂😂😂
Sad when this movie came out people and critics hated or didn’t give it enough credit. Even now lot of self righteous people don’t appreciate movies 🍿
There is more respect and love to the original cartoon here than any other of the terrible Disney Live Actions
1:16 *What?!*
God... I miss movies like these... :_)
John Goodman was made for this character.
Better CGI than most recent DC and marvel movies
The flintstones in viva rock vegas and the flintstones are the best movie in the world❤🎉😊
0:02 Theme song
John Goodman was the perfect Fred Flintstone despite that fact in he didn’t want to do this film. He still put effort into it.

That’s what I call A Theatrical Smash Hit
Wilma, I’m Home!
Does The Dino Sounds Like Beaker In The Muppets?
Dino was voiced by Mel Blanc. So they used archived recordings for Dino in this film.
Dino 🦕: Uh Oh 😕
While I believe the movie is a little above average, the production design, costumes, practical effects, and John Goodman’s performance as Fred save this movie from being bad.

Live action movies based off cartoons were so much better back then. The live action Scooby-doo movies were my childhood
They were my to. Movies and the ones based on cartoons were really good and there prime back in the old days and in the 2000s to.
Que película más mala, prefiero la serie animada...
Dumb.

Some animations just DON'T translate well into live action...HERE'S A PERFECT EXAMPLE!
