And I’m kinda sad bc I have a real big feeling this Beetlejuice sequel isn’t going to be that great. One of the things that always cracked me up about this scene is the Beetlejuice is in this huge hurry to get done with the wedding, but when the undead priest dude asks if he takes Lydia to be his wife, he runs a couple feet away and has a little talk with himself about whether he actually wants to do it. I like to think of this as one of his flaws. He's got immense power, but his two great weaknesses are the name being said three times and his inability to be serious for any great length of time.
Me too, saw this movie on Spectravison back in 1989 with my dad and sister in a Boston hotel and daddy didn't want to watch it because he thought was a kid's film, but eventually he caved in and loved it so much that he was quoting lines from it for weeks to come. RIP daddy we miss you.
While he was a bit of a loose cannon, I never felt that Beetlejuice was really an antagonist. I mean, he DID save the Maitland's. I felt bad for him at the end.

the part where adam tries to say beetlejuice and his jaw falls off is kinda funny but also weirdly wholesome. first of all, he’s literally being exorcised and his body is decaying. yet he still tries to save lydia. and second of all, the way barbara grabs his jaw and tries to put it back is adorable in a super sad way. like obviously it’s hopeless but her first instinct was to fix him. this is kind of dark but it reminds me of how jfk’s wife was reaching out the back of the car when he was assassinated to grab brain matter (this is just a theory)

This movie is a film masterpiece and this scene is so good. It's scary and creepy and laugh out loud funny and makes sense the more you watch it and study it. The set is amazing. The characters are so good and well-acted. The shots are great. It's so well-written and improved and directed. It took me rewatching to realize that's ALEC BALDWIN playing Adam. (Of course, I also know him from 30 Rock mainly, and he's a bit older and in a very different role, lol.) I love this movie and franchise. I hope Beetlejuice 2 / Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is just as good.

I'm honestly so glad that in the second movie he tried to be a little bit more romantic and put more effort into it. Yeah he's still creepy and stuff, but it was kind of a cool wedding.
BJ's greatest weakness is his commitment to the bit, like he genuinely would've wrapped up his whole plan here so much faster if he literally just didn't crack jokes the whole time but I doubt he could stop himself even if he wanted to

I'm honestly so glad that in the second movie he tried to be a little bit more romantic and put more effort into it. Yeah he's still creepy and stuff, but it was kind of a cool wedding.
BJ's greatest weakness is his commitment to the bit, like he genuinely would've wrapped up his whole plan here so much faster if he literally just didn't crack jokes the whole time but I doubt he could stop himself even if he wanted to

I watched this movie recently, I could tell that EVERY SINGLE aspect of this movie had heart, soul and fun put into it.
I'm just going to say it, Homie held up his part of the deal. He has legal recourse.
I feel like a lot of people don't realize that. Yeah, he shouldn't have done that to a minor, but he told her what he wanted and she agreed to it. I've noticed he'll stretch the truth, but I don't think he outright lied in the movie.

@@SexySkoChick This is probably naive, but I loved the animated show as a kid and I kinda want to believe that their relationship might have played out the same way. Maybe once he wasn't dead anymore, he could chill out and tone down the antics and hell, Lydia isn't your average girl either, maybe in time she'd find herself saying "Eh, I could've done worse. At least he's not one of those boring boys at school." or something.

The big windup he does to silence Barbara is so funny. Lol then he's like "Strike!" When it hits. The flow of that was perfect because of the actors' movements and then the editing. I love it.
