I've been doing cold showers for almost a full year, every day. The better technique not reported, is to do it FIRST, BEFORE the hot water. Also, a little bit of cold is better than super cold. Let the cold water dowse all your skin and feel the nerves sending signals to the brain. This is absolutely worth it!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It's great to hear that cold showers have been beneficial for you. Your technique of starting with cold water first is really interesting. Everyone’s experience can vary, and we encourage finding the method that feels best for each individual. Appreciate your insight!😊
Hi Sarah! How can any explain this: My mom had a very disciplined routine- Eating and sleeping on time. No indulgence of any kind (except movies!). she would compromise flavor for health while cooking. She took power naps and Cold baths. Totally home made food and no processed or eating out! She got diagnosed with Parkinsons when she barely turned 60! and died of lung cancer 15 years later much before her older siblings and my dad! They were both pure vegetarians. Our home never had a pain pill of any kind! She was a treasure house of Indian home remedies (incl turmeric and ginger etc which are now hailed globally).💔
Hi there, thank you for sharing your story about your mom. We're so sorry for your loss, and we can't imagine how difficult it must have been for you and your family. It's important to remember that while a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of certain diseases, it's not a guarantee. Some things are beyond our control, and it sounds like your mom did everything she could to take care of herself. She sounds like a wonderful person who will always be cherished and remembered. Sending you love and comfort during this difficult time. ❤
@jazraag, this is most likely exposure to an unidentified toxin and there are many which flip a persons health, they could turn on a bad gene that you don't realise you have and have no idea it has been turned on. Then something like this happens. We are just beginning to find ways to combat this biology and much of it is not through a family doctor or specialist because they only see the symptoms in medical terms and want to drug people up immediately. Radon gas is one of the toxins that is mostly unseen by the medical community but certainly not the only suspect, not by a long shot. In Parkinsons disease I would suspect veg oils and agriculture herbacide and pesticide and preservatives at least to some degree. Chemical toxins in our environment from industry and farming are found in the blood of 95% of people. Medications that are in us and are eventually flushed down our own toilets and become part of the world wide water supply and food chain and are found in seafood. Micro plastics from decaying plastic waste in the environment have been found in fish and now humans! So taking care of our health these days is not only everything that your Mom did for health but at least 2 times more than that to give yourself some level of assurance. You must fight back by not supporting companies that poison us all, packaged foods are almost all just a chemical concoction to stay away from. Unfortunately all food made from grains are heavily treated during farming and all fruits and veg are now heavily treated as well, the chemical preservatives went up quite a bit in about 2020-2022
Parkinsons is genetic, so not a failure of her wellness lifestyle. And the Triggers for cancer are still being discovered, so maybe her healthy lifestyle fought it off for a long time.
When you say dairy can harm mitochondria, does research distinguish between grocery store milk and raw milk (in our case we have goats) that is free of added gums , hormones, and antibodies like commercial dairy contains? I always wonder if dairy gets a bad rap because of all the extra inflammatory agents added to commercial dairy contains. Our dairy doesn't produced any noticeable inflammatory Reactions in my body but when I've eaten cream or dairy from the store with added gums, I get a mucous response. Curious if any research would distinguish between clean dairy and grocery store dairy. Sort of like research that speaks of meat in an ill sense but doesn't distinguish between clean non hormone non antibiotic meat.
Hi! While there are some research that begins to explore the differences between raw, clean dairy and commercial dairy, it's still a developing area. However, all dairy is inflammatory, although there are individual intolerances which can make more types of dairy more inflammatory than others. We do recommend a fully plant-based diet, as we believe the studies show it to be the healthiest diet that promotes longevity and prevents chronic disease. But transitioning to a plant-based diet can be challenging and we advise you to take small steps. For personalized advice, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional as they can provide personalized guidance based on your individual health needs and medical history.
@@lenavoyles526 I feel it's super good for me. I thrive with our chicken and duck fresh eggs, fresh raw goat milk, our vaccine free/antibiotic free meat sources. Whenever science mentions some of these real foods not being good for us, I trust my gut.

There are other ways to create hormetic stress that don’t include cold exposure; part of the idea behind cold exposure is the goal of shiver in addition to mitochondrial function benefit. Shivering burns brown fat which some people want. I can’t do cold plunges so I’ve looked into alternatives to creating hormetic stress

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VOICE - SO EASY ON THE SENSES! Would you mind just considering quitting the background music? You’re gifted with a naturally soothing voice and struggling/straining to hear through the music is not necessary. I want to eat the fruit not the peel! Haha! 😂. You’re a darling me thinks. First time tuned in. I got a whole Otto bagful of goodies a few years ago for Christmas - and I didn’t understand so I stored it in the cupboard. Last week as I was clearing out I can across my Otto canvas tote bag with goodies I was forced to bin the lot due to expiry date. As I was doing this I felt that this was something important - deeply thought! Kept the canvas bag. Today I come across an email for a podcast/over the cell phone (or maybe zoom, not sure) conference with Sarah Otto as a main speaker. Wow! Wow! Wow! God is so good! Signed up for digital conference thingy and this is so exciting. I also knew that mitochondria are so important. Vitalisingly so! - but that’s about as much as I know. THANK YOU SARAH! Vegeterian diet is not healthy. Just eat meat and healthy fat. No seed oils. Real animal fat like butter, tallow and lard.
You can't really control the toxins in the environment outside your home.

About the cold showers… does going into a freezer for 15 minutes have the same results as cold showers? 😆 the freezer seems easier to me
