Two things: Bards do not get Musical Instrument Proficiency from Alfira as they already have all musical instrument proficiencies from the class BUT WILL LOSE THE PROFICIENCY WHEN THEY SWAP CLASSES, So make sure whoever helps Alfira is not a Bard and never becomes one. Regarding Auntie Ethel's Hair, it ALSO breaks the Oath of the Ancients (as Hags are Aberrations by the laws of nature) So it's probably better for the dialogue to just... not be done by a Paladin at all, since her hair is an item, not a dialogue-specific effect.

it's a bit annoying to do but you can get boooal's benediction without sacrificing a companion. if you go invisible, you can walk up to them without starting the dialogue cutscene and can pickpocket the one with the hat for his weapon. it's the weapon he uses for the sacrifice. but doing so you'll enable a dialogue option to give him the blood of your slain foes instead, still granting you the buff for everyone in your party without sacrificing one of them
Be aware, Loviatar's Love is NOT permanent... if you die (fail your death saving throws and DIE die), you will lose the buff upon reviving. Don't know if this is a bug or not, but it's made me VERY careful about not fully dying in a battle.
You get enhanced bardic inspiration if you jam out with alfira to cheer up the tiefling children after defeating Ketheric while everyone is hanging out at the throne room. It works even if you don’t have a bard
Oh dayem, that's where I got that from! I just saw an opportunity to jam out, then noticed that ability VERY late into our next gaming session, so had no idea what enabled it. Thank you!
Now that explain why my bard had that, the value scales with lv, and the max value is aways +2 greater than regular bardic inspiration, the only bad thing is that is only per long rest.
One important thing to note about the Ethel hair: If you dont use it immediately and keep it in your inventory, the owlbear cub will actually eat it should you decide to feed it once it shows up in your camp for the first time. Probably a bug but nonetheless very annoying since you probably only notice it once its to late, like me.
@@MalchiorDharit was my second playthrough and I already knew that I loved to spend hours on end respeccing and reequipping my characters to find unique and powerful builds, especially late into the game. Something like a free plus one ability would have been amazing for that.
Bro you saved my bacon with this one. I was at that point and didn't notice it had happened, thankfully had a save after the fight so I could snap the wand and make Mayrina cry.
Oh so that’s what happened! I had simply decided to give the plus one after the long rest and after selling my loot but it was gone by then. Thankfully it was just a 5 minute replay
You don't need to answer the questions for the Mirror. If you're a barbarian or have Karlach in the party, the barbarian can trigger a Barbarian response that has them do a str check, which results in you picking up a stone a throwing it through the mirror. You can proceed afterward lol
There a few ways to go about the mirror. You can also just threaten to smash it to pieces and pass the charisma check. Bard has a unique option where you can offer to free it. Or you can just break it by attacking it with someone who can surpass the damage threshold or using a bomb.
Barbarian dialogue options are so funny, they just dumb dumb brute force so many things. You could also use a healing potion as an improvised weapon and smash it across the head of an ally to heal them, thematic and hilarious.
Keep in mind, the +2 strength pot can end a relationship with Astarion, but you can fix that if you follow specific dialogue when he later talks about it after resting.
You missed the part with the Tharciate Codex where if you have the person who read the Necromancy of Thay from Act 1 read the codex, you also get a once per long rest summon that summons 4 ghouls to fight as allies (not under your control). Also on the Mirror of Loss, you can also get a permanent +1 to Charisma on top of the +2. After choosing a memory to sacrifice, you'll get a dialogue saying "Disappointment floods your mind. You were sure to succeed Stelmane, but Lord Enver Gortash has stolen your support. All that charming and cajoling in the parlous of the Upper City, Wasted". This one gives you +1 to Charisma and doesn't "satisfy" the mirror (lock you out from sacrificing another memory to try again) like the +2 bonus does
Well I found the eye one from Volo. Thought it'd be funny to let him keep going to see what would happen. Wasn't expecting him to rip out my eye. Thought I was gonna have disadvantage on perception from there until he gave me a fancy new one.
Calling "paid the price" a buff is laughable, that is a debuff my guy, a measly +1 to intimidate in exchange for DISADVANTAGE on perception, na, ill let that one pass any day of the week.
@@jared.mohammed Or I could have a cool glowing eye on my brute, a +1 to Intimidatiom AND more Srength. Leave all that "perceiving" nonsense to the rogue or the cleric.
for me it's a mixed bag...I did miss the alfira scene in my first playthrough, but it really was worth it. Having your party play instruments at the end of every turn is 10x funnier when there's no one that disrupts the symphony of awfullness with their "ability to actually PLAY the instrument"
I'm almost *certain* I did it with my druid cause I remember noticing I didn't have all the same options (first run was as a bard) but I don't think I got the proficiency from it. Maybe I picked a wrong dialogue option somewhere in there, idk lol
Small detail, Gloves of Power are no longer called "Gloves of Absolute Power". And they no longer need the mark to function! However, they did nerf it from Early Access by making it a possibility, not guaranteed :P
About the bless statue, you can make a statue of any of your companions just by talking to the imp with that character and getting the statue made. Like I have a statue of Minthara in my camp and she has permanent bless now.
The vaults in Ramazith's tower can also be easily entered through a portal hidden behind a locked door near the test concerning the nature of the Nightsong. A little stealth can allow you to bypass the See Invisibility hurdle.
Oath of vengeance is not breakable when you spare the hag, only if you accept the deal, but you can intimidate the hag and save mayrina and also get the auntie ethel hair
Рік тому+58
I've noticed as Devotion paladin that your oath is broken also if you participate in the...consequences of your teammates decision. For instance, simply being present in the fight against refugees that held Laezel captive, if any of the refugees died, you get to speak with a scotsman in armor.
A heads up - you can also break into the booksellers office in Sorcerous Sundries and find a hidden door to the vault, so you can theoretically do that without interacting with Lorroakan
Important note about the musical proficiency from alfira. You do not need to pass both checks. Only the second check which is easier than the first. Dont waste your inspiration.
if it helps, the ability score bonuses the memories in Act 3 grant are literally ordered in the same way they appear on the character sheet Strength Dexterity Constitution Intelligence Wisdom Charisma
If you read the Trachiate codex as a character who also read the Necromancy of Thay, that character receives a once per day ability to summon 4 ghouls. The ghouls are kind of garbage though, they have 21 HP and explode when they die, dealing damage and probably killing the other ghouls. They have done more friendly damage than enemy damage when I've used them. Still kind of cool
I wouldn’t sleep on those ghouls, on the Raphael fight Raphael was down to 5 hp and the ghoul walked into a spike wall I placed earlier exploded and killed Raphael, he would have gotten another turn
They can be buffed up quite a bit with Aid and other buffs but they’re still garbage coz you can’t control them and they can sometimes body block your actual teammates in narrow passageways.
I used them as canon fodder against the massive robot in the gondian steel watch factory. Was pretty helpful cos it drew the enemy fire while the bot was immune to damage, so I could get myself and party members out of range without the bot following us to try attack.
As someone else said, you can get a +1 charisma buff from the mirror as well as the +2. The way you do it is before you pass the religion check you select all of the options until you get it. it’s random you can get it on any of them, it’s important to do it before you pass the religion check because that is the only way to get both. You can take any buff for the +2, even charisma to get three total. The only thing you need to make sure is that you have at least one left for your +2, because once you do one, you can’t do it again for that character. You’ll get a bunch of debuffs, but they’re just regular curses. I forget what the text is for the charisma buff but it’s always the same. You can do this with every character. I only had to save scum for one character I’m pretty sure.
@@NotABot-px7ky not sure where you are wasting the thieves tools on considering the vault doors cannot be picked but yes with the knock spell you can unlock any lock doors and chest even those that are not lockpickable but it does cost spell slots.
U mean the door with the floor code? Read the note nearby about electricity glitch…. Blast the vault door with a lightning spell and it opens. The numbered vaults I lock picked (skillcheck 25 and 30).
There's an easy way to get the +2 from the mirror: Pass the Religion check first, then sacrifice a memory. This seems to guarantee that you get to select the +2 when you sacrifice a memory. Using this strat I got the buff on all party members (apart from Shadowheart because she became Selenite in that run)
you can actually get the sylvanus blessing after stealing idol of sylvanus, give it to mol and then either buy it back or stole it from her, just becareful (i dont know if the bug still on) if you put in in camp sleep and take it again, it will agro your whole camp
@@AsterSea That's PART of the buff though! I have caught so many ambushes because suddenly I get a red notification that some monster just got silvanus' blessing.
Sylvanus blessing only grants you it's buff if there are druids still performing their right. Either you kill or avoid Halsan while doing the grove quest and it will last forever, then put sign The buff sack. Clerics for selune get a bonus from the idol of selune.
@@SLVYER1 Nah, I'm currently playing a multiplayer session where we side with the absolutes...killed every emerald grove inhabitant and the buff is still active in act 2
Note that if you play as Gale, the Mystra's Blessing doesn't happen at all in Balthazar's room. Also, regarding the Shadow Weave level 3 spell slot, Gale only gets one slot, not one for every Thorm killed/absorbed so it's really only mildly useful because it's only one level 3 spell slot AND refreshes on Long Rest so it's not great by any means so I wouldn't go thinking it'll unlock some brand new build potential.
Extra spells are always handy for a wizard though. That's a free Fireball right there. There are many problems in life that can be solved with the judicial application of a fireball.
Cool thing to note is that some npcs will take note of your choices. Ethel will tell you "Looks like you're already missing an eye" if you have Volo's. Malus too will say that you're halfway to being "blessed". Mystic Carrion will know if you've read the necromancy of thay. Idk any others but there might be more
Also Mystra's Benevolence is bugged right now. It's allegedly supposed to be a permanent buff, but most people seem to lose it after a Long Rest. Same thing happened with my Gale as well.
@@SLVYER1but the video claiming it’s a permanent buff when it only lasts until your next long rest isn’t misinformation? You can’t cherry pick when being a cad.
Another one to add. Next to the head in the hive is Resonance stone you can pick up. When holding gives nearby allies Advantage on physical checks but diadvantage on mental saving throwes and vulnerable to physcic damage
Just a heads up on that concentration buff is that most of the people I know who have it say it went away after a long rest because it’s bugged. Happened to me too and that was kind of annoying.
@@Dagroth There's rows of books on on a bookshelf, if I remember correctly, the top right row will unlock the altar next to bookshelf. Grab a heart from a table and set it in the altar and the bookshelf will open to reveal the secret room.
The Mirror of Loss can also randomly give you +1 charisma, in addition to the +2 you chose. After you give up a memory, the mirror can show you a selection of random memories before letting you choose your +2 memory. One of those random memories will give you +1 charisma. So you can get +3 from the mirror in total.
**LATER** CUTSCENE ARMOUR FOR ALL THOSE WONDERING!! I CERTAINLY WAS (All seem to be dyed, but these are the base armours) Astarion: Armor of Agility Shadowheart: Hood of the Weave, Dark Justiciar Half-Plate Karlach: The Mighty Cloth Tav/MC: Reapers Embrace
The mirror allows not only a +2 in an ability but also a +1cha if you get the right text upon sacrificing a memory, so you can get +3 ability points in total from it. Happened for me when I sacrificed constitution, nor sure if its always constitution though?
Im pretty sure the gloves of power dont require the absolute's brand, the perk is called "absolute's bane" and doesnt say anything about the brand like the other items do
Volo's eye is definitely the better of the two, since unlike the hag's eye it doesn't come with debuffs. I didn't even notice a difference in my character's appearance at first until I went to camp and was messing around with the mirror, at which point I noticed that instead of two green eyes I now have a blue eye. I haven't really noticed a moment where seeing invisible things has made a difference yet, but I'm also just barely into act 2. Did get a dialogue from Malus Thorm though where he commented something along the lines of my character still having one eye that needed to be removed (he says the same to Wyll because of his stone eye)
you can also "donate" your forbidden knowledge from the necromancy of thay to the mirror of loss instead of your memories, which is dumb because you can donate any memories and just cast remove curse and should be fine, in other words dont donate your forbidden knowledge... also the face in the mirror protecting the book, can be smashed if talked with a barbarian. also the potion drow on act 2 (the one astarion needs to bite) can give you tons of potions depending of the race from the character you are interacting with, you can disband your whole party and add hirelings of different races to get as many potions as you need. also if you dont break baltazars seal with gale but instead craft a moonlanter, it will give you the ability to summon a shadow (although it de-summons when you un-equip the dark moonlanter) there is also a scroll to summon a quasit, I forgot where it was but it is in act 1 where there are a bunch of coffins laying around.
Wow, didn't thought i would be able to add anything. Actually, you haven't mention infinite Laughter skill from mad monk. İt's quite powerful and can be used by any class without spell slot, once per battle. İ would consider it as a permanent buff. Amulet can be taken in Grym forge and should be taken to the Temple in Revington. İ see the logic, you haven't mention skills you might take, but such is worth to mention as well or take it as an idea for separate video
Don't know if anyone's said this, couldn't find comments on it, but: The Mirror of Loss that grants you +2 permanently to an ability of your choosing can also be done with the help of the Necromancy of Thay. Now, I don't know if you need to have fully read the Necromancy or just the first part (since I had fully read it both times I did this), but you can sacrifice your knowledge of the book to skip all of the ability checks and go straight to picking a memory to gain! (You do not lose the ability to summon the Ghouls by doing this, I never really checked but I assume it removes your ability to Speak with Dead or Forbidden Knowledge, probably the latter)
Potion of Everlasting Vigour was so good for my first playthrough. I was a barbarian and had Karlach with me the whole time, so the team always had two barbarians which was way more fun than I expected. I used feats and ability improvements to get my character's strength to 20, then drank the potion to permanently further increase my strength to 22. It was even more wacky when I got Nyrulna because it increases jump distance and grants immunity to fall damage
And the 1d4 radiant damage from the monastery! Its a little iffy to get, but essentially: Characters regain it when they long rest while not in the party. So as long as you dismiss your entire party before going to bed, they'll have that extra d4 damage every day. HOWEVER i'm not sure if its still working. Worked fine on my first two playthroughs, but not my most recent one. Either they patched it, or i did something different this time.
It works on mine, as long as I remove party after long rest and re-select them. Since I have this whole routine I go through with a hireling Wizard, it's actually not that big a deal to do.
@@bikeman223 happens I just knew that you lose the blessing which gives you bonus light-damage (glistening-damage?) When you die so i checked the description
@mizushirokanon9174 A power called survival instinct. It's basically an alternative Death Ward that will save a character's life if they die within a 3-turn period. Saved my bacon a couple of times. Can be used once every short rest.
Astarion can also get ascended vampire as a permanent buff. Not sure if Caz can give any other buffs. Someone said something about becoming a vampire, but I have no idea if that's true.
I always have a spare cleric in my camp to spend basically all their spell slots on buffs for my actual party after every long rest, like Warding Bond, Protection from Poison, Death Ward, Freedom of Movement, Aid, and Hero's Feast.
Not truly a buff since it's a ring and an ability you get. Sylvania idol isn't permanent since if you leave the item behind it goes away so those don't fit into the title
elixir of hill giant strength = 23 str, elixir of sky giant strength = 27 str both last until long rest both can be bought from vendors or crafted by finding/buying ingredients the first one u can get as early as act 1. tons of them. enough for the whole playthrough. so putting all those points into strength is kinda a waste. all of my party members, even the str focussed ones, have 8 strength and not a single point more because it's wasted with those elixirs. they are not very expensive and you get more gold than u can ever spend anyways.
@@wruzzer first of all, that's not really a permanent buff. But in anycase that's only valid for act 1 and 2 in my opinion, because using those elixir means that you can't take potion of bloodlust, which give you a free action every turn (provided you kill something, which you will , with 24 str). So with potion of bloodlust + haste that's 3 actions a turn. It's also important that with Ethel hair + mirror of loss you can get to 22 of any stat by only using 1 feat. (17 start + 2 feat + 1 hair + 2 mirror). Not just str, so you can a 22 charisma and 27 str paladin with str potion. Beauty of this game: so many options
@@RoyalJester17 i never said it's a permanent buff, but i deffo prefer 27str and 2-3 actions (1 normal, 1 haste spores, 1 fighter lvl 2 skill, forgot the name) per turn over 3-4 actions per turn and 24 strength. especially because 8 in strength means u can put all those points in other useful stats. the jumping distance is also incredible. and the entire party can carry more. yeah, on other stats, that's what everyone does already. unless they don't get those buffs for roleplay purposes or because they still don't know about them. on strength focussed characters it's deffo a waste. you could have more stats overall. higher saving throws. higher chance to succeed in skill checks. higher chance to hit your spells if you have them. higher chance and damage if you use a ranged weapon with your fighter or whatever. higher init. the pros for the elixir instead of wasting stats in strength far outweigh the cons. every single point in strength is a waste of potential. especially for str based characters, as weird as this sounds. i couldn't believe it when i saw u can buy a 23 strength buff until long rest for a few coins as soon as you start the game. as many as u want basically because in theory u can long rest without using any food and steal the gold back everytime. it's nuts.
@@wruzzer I disagree, 1+ proficiency in strength (you get 1 point every 2 points invested into a stat) from 27 isn't as good as an extra action from bloodlust, even a elixir of Colossus that's gives you an extra D4 damage on damage rolls would be better than +1 proficiency. Even on a monk, with tarven brawler that would add +2 with the extra bonus. I may be completely wrong here, because I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but as far as the game goes, I think action economy is king. Having 4 actions (action surge, bloodlust, haste) is just insane. 4 fire balls! Haha I agree with the roleplay bit, it's up to the player to do whatever they think it's best, I love playing astarion as a bard simply because having him insult people with vicious mockering tickles my fancy haha.
@@RoyalJester17 yee, astarion is the perfect bard, dunno why larian went with rogue instead. especially since they give you soo many cool bard items early on. but then they don't give you a bard companion? at the very least alfira couldve been a recruitable companion. this way you have to use a hireling or respecc someone if you wanna play anything but bard as your main and want a bard in your party. sucks imo. you forgot about the other benefits you get from not having to invest into strength at all. a second stat on 22. so u got 2 stats above 20, that's a big boost. imagine a 27 strength, 22 con fighter. or a 27 strength and 22 dex with medium armor that lets you use your entire dex modifier for ac. with titan string bow that lets you add your str modifier on top of your dex modifier to it's damage. with sharpshooter and great weapon master feat, so he is deadly in melee and ranged combat. and since you can dump strength completely, u can put those points into int wis or cha for better saving throws and skill checks. i put them on my entire party for the jump distance and carry weight. why carry weight when u can send everything to your chest u may ask? carry around a billion corpses for my spore druid. spore. druid. is. busted. they have to nerf his animate dead spores. hard. u can cast it as often as you have corpses before a fight starts and the mushroom bois stay until they die or long rest. oh, and u eventually will get a diadem that makes them resistant to physical damage if they are near you! forgot about the ability to push everyone and everything around, since this is based on strength too. allows your gale to get out of melee combat for a bonus action if you can't use misty step because no spell slots available or whatever reason, maybe u dumped it for a different spell, who knows. or carry around a bunch of barrels and other explosives and throw a backpack full of em into the enemies previously lured to a spot with minor illusion, a cantrip most classes can pick at the start of the game. boom. fight over. the longer i think about it, the more benefits i see for having this elixir on everyone and everything the entire time. and the less i see the need to put any strength on any character.
10:58 You can get +2 Charisme AND +2 to an attribute of choice. First, learn how the mirror works (which can be accomplished without a skill check if you find the note in the night orchid cave behind the armoury). Then sacrifice a memory BEFORE offering a prayer. Repeat until you get a memory from Duke Stelmane. That grants the +2 Charisma. Then offer the prayer, and sacrifice more memories until you get to pick an attribute of choice. It can be helpful to bring a bard (hire one from Withers) for the bardic inspiration buff, which stacks with guidance from shadowheart, and enhance ability to get advantage on the skill But nice video. I'm starting my second playthrough, didn't get them all in the first. Really annoyed I rejected the absolute's brand back then. But my god, I was laughing when Volo pulled out my eye. When I got the see invisible ability, that's when I learned that when the game throws crazy things at you, just go with it and see where it takes you.
You forgot that theres a secret door in the vault room that allows you to finish reading the necromancy of thay and grants you the permanent ability to summon 5 creatures to aid you in battle.
ive gotta say im truly amazed this video didnt start off with like "There are many permanent buffs in Baldur's Gate that can enhance your gameplay! If you're worried you missed some, this video will outline every buff you can get!" like no you just jumped straight into it
Be careful when accepting Volo's eye. You may get permanent see invisibility but you ALSO get an irreversible aesthetic change to your eye that you cannot change. Just a heads up.

He gets that buff if you have him bite enemies in combat too, and the enemy he bites will get bloodless. You don't need to let Astarion bite you every night to get it
Note on BOOAL's Benediction - if you go back to camp with your player character and recruit a fourth character before talking with a kua toa to trigger dialogue with BOOOAL, you can get it on the newly recruited companion as well. Tested on honour mode, 01/26/2024
#8-- you don't need to sacrifice anyone. Just have astarion move around to the back of him while you're engaged in the initial convo and pickpocket the weapon off him, then move astarion far away near the exit and offer to kill in his name and you all get the buff instead of the weapon he was going to give you.
I would like to add the Bliss buff your party gains from carrying the "resonance stone" in your inventory and the "silvanus' blessing" buff for your party from carrying the Idol of sylvanus in your inventory
Just saying, the gloves of power work with ranged weapon attacks as well. Kept that on my sharpshooter beast master and combat became much easier with dual +1 HandXbows +2 to archery along with 2d4 from bless thanks to the staff you find early.
I'd known Forbidden Knowledge gave you Speak with the Dead, but I didn't know it also gave the wisdom buff. that will come in very handy for my monk. If you want to make things a bit easier and can wait, the Harpers Amulet you can get at the start of act 2 grants advantage on Wisdom checks.
Getting branded also causes negatives, but mostly in dialog when initially interacting with those who are enemies of the absolute. I usually have my tankiest companion take the branding to avoid the negatives.
I’d like to note that you cannot have the hag’s eye removed and replaced with the see invisibility feat… I started my playthrough over just to get rid of auntie Ethel’s curse…
Also during the fight with Auntie Ethel she will NOT start dialogue at low health if silence is cast over her, as silence prevents her from casting most spells while also prevent anyone from talking when inside.
I don't see many people have done this...but if you steal the idol from the druids, the idol of silvannnus will give you a blessing and share it to everyone around you.
You can also get to the Tharchiate Vigor in a different way, you still have to do the door puzzle but you can just break in upstairs and make the whole shop pissed at you lmao
Ok so the way you entered the Vaults was wild, I’ve got about 600 hours and I’ve done the vaults on every play through. But I’ve NEVER entered the Vaults that way.
Awakened buff - Rather than just relying on save scumming ... For anyone who isn't Lae'zel it's a series of saving throws (the buff is best on whoever is going to be using the ilithid powers that would otherwise take an action the most). You can enhance these with things like bless (1D4) and the resistance cantrip (1D4). Elixir of heroism can apply the bless buff. Also, the heal ring can do it (so you can throw a potion at the main character to give them bless for the bonus without using a spell slot then step into the machine to begin the process). There is an early act 1 shield that gives +1 to all saving throws. I don't remember what the first is. The second is wisdom. The third can be any of the mental attributes. For Lae'zel these are ability checks. The second level spell enhance ability gives advantage on any one attribute type. The buff does nothing for powers that trigger without using an action. Most of the powers that take up an action aren't terribly good, so making them a bonus action is an improvement, but these still aren't often great. Obviously, more value on a thief rogue with more bonus actions. It's more fun to use the inspiration dice to reroll fails and go into the event prepared, than to abuse the save system to never fail (there's no skill in that). Good luck!
the debuff part only applies to creatures of the type "Hag"...so it's a permanent +1 for intimidation checks and a debuff for just two bossfights in the entire game. Very much worth it if you ask me
@@alexw4482 yeah I wasn't aware of the perception disadvantage at the time of writing...so I admit/agree, it's alot worse than I thought and "bad" overall. I just rarely see an active perception roll, usually they're done in the background so I didn't notice it really
Oath of Ancients also became an Oathbreaker by taking the hair. For some reason that character was also poisoned, so I had to roll at disadvantage on Honor Mode, and rolled 20 and 16 before mods and without using inspiration!
Shadowheart has a unique factor with the Mirror of Loss depending on which variant she is. Selune Shadowheart won't be able to use it at all, even if she passes checks. Dark Justiciar Shadowheart can skip the checks entirely and simply receive a reward.

You get enhanced bardic inspiration if you jam out with alfira to cheer up the tiefling children after defeating Ketheric while everyone is hanging out at the throne room. It works even if you don’t have a bard
Rather it works if you have a bard and stays even if you respec the char after
Oh dayem, that's where I got that from!
So that's where that thing came from. I couldn't find it on the class page and I just rolled with it lmao
I guess choosing bard on a dark urge run wasn’t the way to go.
One important thing to note about the Ethel hair:
If you dont use it immediately and keep it in your inventory, the owlbear cub will actually eat it should you decide to feed it once it shows up in your camp for the first time. Probably a bug but nonetheless very annoying since you probably only notice it once its to late, like me.

You don't need to answer the questions for the Mirror. If you're a barbarian or have Karlach in the party, the barbarian can trigger a Barbarian response that has them do a str check, which results in you picking up a stone a throwing it through the mirror. You can proceed afterward lol
Just did that today. Was hilarious
As a warlock I told the mirror “open up or I’ll smash you to pieces, luck be damned”…worked like a charm
Sorcerer also gets the option to offer the mirror it's freedom but I didn't get it straight away
Keep in mind, the +2 strength pot can end a relationship with Astarion, but you can fix that if you follow specific dialogue when he later talks about it after resting.
Or take control of vampy boy, talk to the creepy hole elf, and pick the dialogue to bite the creep.
Thanks! So now I know if I do something I clearly do not want to do, it is just the player taking over my mind just so they could get a buff. 😂😂😂

This one gives you +1 to Charisma and doesn't "satisfy" the mirror (lock you out from sacrificing another memory to try again) like the +2 bonus does

for me it's a mixed bag...I did miss the alfira scene in my first playthrough, but it really was worth it.

Get a life cleric, use aid, zombies now juggernauts

Important side note: cant have both hag eye and volos eye. Can only choose one.

It was even more wacky when I got Nyrulna because it increases jump distance and grants immunity to fall damage
i helped Alfira... while was playing as Dark Urge
And the 1d4 radiant damage from the monastery!
Its a little iffy to get, but essentially:
Characters regain it when they long rest while not in the party.
So as long as you dismiss your entire party before going to bed, they'll have that extra d4 damage every day.
HOWEVER i'm not sure if its still working. Worked fine on my first two playthroughs, but not my most recent one. Either they patched it, or i did something different this time.
I had this for until recently, was somewhere in act 3. It has disappeared now though. Guessing they patched it.
It works on mine, as long as I remove party after long rest and re-select them. Since I have this whole routine I go through with a hireling Wizard, it's actually not that big a deal to do.

elixir of hill giant strength = 23 str, elixir of sky giant strength = 27 str
both last until long rest
both can be bought from vendors or crafted by finding/buying ingredients
the first one u can get as early as act 1. tons of them. enough for the whole playthrough. so putting all those points into strength is kinda a waste. all of my party members, even the str focussed ones, have 8 strength and not a single point more because it's wasted with those elixirs. they are not very expensive and you get more gold than u can ever spend anyways.
Haha
I agree with the roleplay bit, it's up to the player to do whatever they think it's best, I love playing astarion as a bard simply because having him insult people with vicious mockering tickles my fancy haha.
Theres a dialogue path that keeps your romance with astarion, even if you force him to bite Obladora
It can be helpful to bring a bard (hire one from Withers) for the bardic inspiration buff, which stacks with guidance from shadowheart, and enhance ability to get advantage on the skill
But nice video.
So do you get to keep your eye color or does the eye look dead
Go to the mirror after and change your eye color. It usually works. But I haven't checked since recent patch.
@@xMari2130looks like a standard eye, but just normal. i reckon many ppl go with more exotic eyes.
i prepared in advance with a haircut and a scar over the eye. so now it looks more 'realistic'
gotta have that eye😂
You forgot bloodless, the permanent (de) buff all us Astarion simps have for offering him to feed on us nightly, and happy haha.
get shadowheart to cast lesser restoration before you set out from camp, clears it right up and astarion keeps his buff
He gets that buff if you have him bite enemies in combat too, and the enemy he bites will get bloodless. You don't need to let Astarion bite you every night to get it
need no...maybe want@@Amayawolf_01
If you play as Dark Urge, saving Volo at the docks grants you the Awakened Slayer buff, granting extra attacks in slayer form.
You can also get an additional +2 to charisma on top of the other +2 but it’s heavy rng
There is also resonanse stone near that talking head you put minds into, it gives easier physical test and harder mental tests
Getting branded also causes negatives, but mostly in dialog when initially interacting with those who are enemies of the absolute. I usually have my tankiest companion take the branding to avoid the negatives.
Jeez this game is so thick it almost isn't replayable. I missed a few of these but no way I'm going back for them haha
I feel like maybe "steeped in bliss" might've been a worthwhile mention, it's next to the head you get githzerai mind barrier from lol
Ok so the way you entered the Vaults was wild, I’ve got about 600 hours and I’ve done the vaults on every play through. But I’ve NEVER entered the Vaults that way.
Awakened buff -
Rather than just relying on save scumming ...
Good luck!
Not sure I would call Paid the Price a buff. More of a permanent de-buff in my opinion.
the debuff part only applies to creatures of the type "Hag"...so it's a permanent +1 for intimidation checks and a debuff for just two bossfights in the entire game. Very much worth it if you ask me
@@AgeofJPit’s also permanent disadvantage on perception and you can’t get volo’s eye. It is Way worse than taking the eye from volo.
No time wasting intro>>>>>>Immediate sub
What sociopath at Larian decided that all permanent buffs require you to do something evil, manipulative, and maiming?
technically the music one and the statue one are fine.
Shadowheart has a unique factor with the Mirror of Loss depending on which variant she is.
Selune Shadowheart won't be able to use it at all, even if she passes checks.
Dark Justiciar Shadowheart can skip the checks entirely and simply receive a reward.
