Thank you for watching! So, i came back, as promised, and wrote down the titles that stood out to me. I am surprised to find so many, as usually it's between 0 and 1. But 13 of them??!! So here are the most atmospheric, no-nonsense dark-themed FPS: 11:25 - Hexborn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -roguelike or not, such a fine quality retro-art-direction in an FPS - is a rare diamond) 32:53 - Deepest Fear - - - - - - - - - - - -can't go wrong with a horror-action FPS taking place in an underwater complex. 52:00 - Lonely space - - - - - System Shock 2 roots run deep, and all that grows strong from them - is more than welcomed. 54:15 - Divine Frequency - - - - - - too much potential to skip, despite meager first impression from the demo. 58:55 - Painted in Blood - - - - - 'Undying' on eldritch steroids and with all new kickass guns. A must try. 1:00:22 - Beneath - - - - - - - underwater again we go, in another promising dark atmospheric FPS. Tom Hansen, have a hug. 1:07:23 - Blast Judgement - - - - - an honorary entry on the list: if McGee's Alice's son made an FPS game, - that could be it. 1:11:23 - Gloomwood: The Hive Update - - - - - - - - - - - More and better Gloomwood?! Bring it on! 1:18:32 - Paramelancholia - - - - - - of course!!! GZDoom didn't have a project of such level of effort+creativity since forever. 1:26:04 - Blood West: Dead Man's Promise - - - - - - - - - - - - - - is the sky blue? Duh🤣 1:31:32 - Kook - - - - - - - - - -Gloomwood Jr? or M.C. Escher made and FPS? Either way, Garrett approves what we see so far. 1:32:25 - Desecrators - - - - - - - It's about time some good old 6DoF action has joined the party! Let's go 90's! 1:33:25 - Total Chaos - - - - - - - A mod-brat to crush AAA industry under the iron boot. May effort, passion and skill prevail!!! Won't be mentioning Trenchfoot, cause it's old news, otherwise still in development.
@@ZlimBratSki If it's dark-themed and creative, deep past or far future (never modern), crafted with passion, work ethic and skill - i'll be there. Yet more so, - it's got to be no less or better than what i can make myself. Always has been so, and always will be🙃.
Witchfire - to me, was the most hyped and probably the most anticipated FPS game of all time. I was always impressed with its developers, so my expectations were through the roof. When it finally came out, and i saw that it was a roguelike, it was like a stab in the back. Exactly the same feeling of betrayal that Q2 fans felt back in 1999, when Q3 gave them the middle finger). But because Witchfire looked so unbelievably spectacular, i was still determined to check it out...however, when i saw and HEARD the guns, - it was all over. I haven't seen such a collection of poof-poof water pistols in my life, (and i used to work in a pool🤣). When you spend hundreds of hours perfecting the SFX for various games, including both Quakes - shitty FX become a major and instantaneous turn off. And that was the last i've seen of that game. Yeah, it looks truly out of this word. But that only goes so far. As L. Carroll put it: "...and neither of the others took the least notice of her going..." Time better spent would be joining the Hare & Hatter in putting the Dormouse into the teapot🤪. "People Can Fly" is best remembered for their earlier efforts, which are always enjoyable.
Damn, that is one hefty video! Must've been triple effort...and we get Zlim-The-CEO!!! I definitely have to watch that several times. Usually i expect zero-to-one games to be of any real interest, but here - it's like 10 or something. I've got to be back with a pen and paper and write these ones down. Though i realize that some of them may not come out in 2025, or perhaps not any time this millennium(🤣what else is new), yet even so - 10-ish is a high enough number to allow for a margin of error. I didn't see Retrospace or Core Decay there, so i recon these two are already off to the never-never-land🤪. For the life of me i can't understand how Forgive Me Father 2 lost to some cheap-o-matic cartoon with a mullet. That's preposterous. FMF2 was made to win. It's literally a work of art (highly favored art at that) and judging by the 1st and what i've seen so far - plays well too. Then again, stranger things have happened in the world of videogames. A lot stranger. Why when there finally is a game which looks near perfect even to the niche hunters like myself (Hexborn), - it always has to be some roguelike?! It's like having a 100-year old grandma telling you she's in love with you.🤣Thanks but no thanks. Fortunately, i am well accustomed to the concept that worthy games are rather rare, but mods - are infinite. As one of my friends used to say: "If diamonds were common, people would mine them from their own washroom".
haha it did take tripple effort, I had to list, plan, talk to every single developer of every single game you see, fetch trailers, write script, edit record oh my it actually took just over two months to put it together. But Core Decay I don't know anything of since the 3D realms drama, however Retrospace is much alive and kicking just didn't want to show a trailer I have already shown off so many times :D
@@ZlimBratSki It surely shows that this video was a massive investment on your part, there is no understating that.👍Something like this cannot be done without some serious preparation and long-term planning. Some early access, some not :)

No Witchfire? I've been playing for only 6 weeks and it might just be my favorite game ever. and it's still early access!

Is it just me or does this year look weak for upcoming games compared to last year. maybe we were just spoiled last year.

the best fps of 2024 is Deus Ex. As it was for the past 23 years before that. and many more going forward
Oke
It was definitely a shoe in for the year 2000. My personal fav of 2024 was Coven!
