It's really amazing how many indie fps games there are out there. I really love it. I never would've thought there would be this many indie fps games, glad to realize I'm wrong. It's like we're back in the 90s with so many doom clones. Except 80% of them are good now instead of just one or two of them being good.
Actually, in the 90's there were far fewer "Doom-clones". Making a game back then and hoping for it to go beyond some nameless compilation eliciting "meh" reactions - required a lot more effort, creativity and diligence. That's why a rather high number of 90's shooters that were released as a complete, finished product - is remembered and played today. Oftentimes even re-released on GOG. Those modern ones, contrarily - most of them will swiftly be, as it was so theatrically put: "gone with the wind"🙃.
CRUEL makes me have mixed feelings, audio really comes through for me, just the right crunchy. Visuals..... I don't know, I get the low res feeling, but based on the trailer, would hinder me to distinguish foes from garbage 🤔 Opinions?
Holy shit Zlim, I knew this video was coming but had no idea it was going to be over an hour-long dude. Look, don't get me wrong here. The amount of time and energy you probably put into this is unbelievable and we all appreciate it. But my man, you really need to play other genres and this point. I think you are getting obsessed with boomer shooters to the point that it is affecting your ability to be you know a normal Swedish father who enjoys salty licorice. Maybe play some visual novels or hentai games on Steam my friend. Or I know, play some Redfall!
That's got to be some of the most bogus "advice" i've seen on the internet. Kinda similar to that number of using an actual apple to charge an Iphone. And to boot, that would be a bad marketing strategy too. Today, more and more people know that Zlim's - is the place for FPS. You are building your audience and your brand (and it works well so far). If you changed it (aka - diluted it), then you'd be changing brand and scoring less traffic and exposure, because the FPS crowd would know that it's gonna take a while before Zlim puts another potentially cool FPS in a spotlight, - and just wander off. While on reviewing random genre games - you'd be competing against far less favorable algorithm odds and far greater pull from the alternatives. (aka the established big and mid-tier channels) You probably know how that works. That's why Mercedes does not make fishing rods, and boutique restaurants do not market themselves as "a place for A&B&C and Coca Cola". You're the boss, of course, but since we know that you like doing what you do (cause you told us so, - many times) and want to invest more into it, then marketing strategy and audience building - would not be the last thing to think of. I would look into more subdivisions of the FPS realm, (such as fan enhancement projects, level packs, fan remakes, TC's, mods, unofficial expansions and such) but not stray from it. At least not until getting a lot more subs. Even then, it would beg a careful consideration in what shape and form such an expansion would take place, and what would be its special attraction to the audience: flavor, style, icing on the cake - beyond having everything hang just on Zlim's name. P.S. "Gaming deep" always beats "gaming wide", - because it is capable of creating memories that stay with you, and are not constantly overwritten by the next batch of foam flakes from a random soap bubble popping here or there.
Wow I would also like to comment on the Orpheus Lover game. The ancient Greece seems to be a rather underutilised setting. Yea I have seen it used in strategic or city management simulator games but never in a FPS. As a boy my grand parents gave me a large book of Greek mythology with these very colourful illustrations in it. As this was my first experience with the incredible mythos of ancient Greece, i am very pleased to see this game with a colour palette so vibrant. In my mind, these myths SHOULD be bright and colourful as they are well....a myth! It's an age of great heroes and quests to outwit the gods themselves. Since reality and the "magic" often mix in these stories, it is such a logical progression for me to have the game look like this. I can only imagine how an FPS boss fight with Cerberus or the mighty Hydra would play.
Thommy I couldn't agree with you more! I can't think of a single FPS that uses this setting, only third person games. I'm hoping this will be good, they seem to have a cool mix of genres with both humor, fast pace but still explorative almost like a third person adventure game. I like what I'm seeing thus far at least :)
Zlim, Thommy...come on guys!!! Of course there is ancient Greek setting in the FPS! The entire 2nd Episode in Daikatana (which is the most extensive one in the game) - is all about Ancient Greek Glory!!! And it's damn magnificent one, with all the mythic things come to life. The fire effects, and that music there...oh my. Jason and Theseus would've sailed to their journeys for nothing less than that (in the absence of their fellow Basil Poledouris). 🙃And Thommy - Cerberus is a miniboss there (nothing major though), with Medusa being the final one (it can pass for a makeshift Hydra, lol) On that note, you did fight Cerberus in a big bossfight in Blood, and if you play on Extra Crispy difficulty, then there is even more than that... And let's not forget the 4th episode of Hexen II, which also happens to be the most extensive in the game - where the epic action-fest continues through Greek Temples, gardens, courtyards and majestic grand halls. (must brag😎, after all - it's my second top fave FPS of all time) When combined with the Greek episode music from Daikatana...plays like perfection (at least to me). Finally: WILL ROCK!!! Don't tell me you've never played THAT?! It's basically Painkiller/Serious Sam set in Ancient Greece - and it's got some really banging weapons. While it is not as pretty or as atmospheric as Daikatana's Greek Episode or Hexen II, but it's a solid FPS in this subcategory, and i'd take Will Rock with the Greek fantasy over that boring Sam-clown any day of the week. P.S. in the case of Daikatana, don't play the entire game, or suffer through Episode 1.It's a MAJOR turn-off. Just get a save file/ level cheat - to go straight to Ancient Greece. And guys, i recommend to carry on to Episode 3: medieval Norway is going to be no slouch either, guaranteed. Too bad it's the shortest one in the game. Good hunting!
dude, real talk. I don't know if this was supposed to be a joke but showing Compund Fracture and calling its graphics garbage is so uncalled for. Even if this was a joke it didn't feel like one.

note, you did fight Cerberus in a big bossfight in Blood, and if you play on Extra Crispy difficulty, then there is even more
than that...
And let's not forget the 4th episode of Hexen II, which also happens to be the most extensive in the game - where the epic
action-fest continues through Greek Temples, gardens, courtyards and majestic grand halls. (must brag😎, after all - it's
my second top fave FPS of all time) When combined with the Greek episode music from Daikatana...plays like perfection
(at least to me).
Finally: WILL ROCK!!! Don't tell me you've never played THAT?! It's basically Painkiller/Serious Sam set in Ancient Greece -
and it's got some really banging weapons. While it is not as pretty or as atmospheric as Daikatana's Greek Episode or
Hexen II, but it's a solid FPS in this subcategory, and i'd take Will Rock with the Greek fantasy over that boring Sam-clown
any day of the week.
P.S. in the case of Daikatana, don't play the entire game, or suffer through Episode 1.It's a MAJOR turn-off.
Just get a save file/ level cheat - to go straight to Ancient Greece. And guys, i recommend to carry on to Episode 3:
medieval Norway is going to be no slouch either, guaranteed. Too bad it's the shortest one in the game.
Good hunting!
@@HexenStar This is such a Zeus tier comment. Thank you for that, seriously! Lol
@@ThommyofThenn My pleasure🙏
Zlim you need to stop. I can only fit so many games on my wishlist!
I'm not stopping! I'm expanding! Will start to cover more then just FPS games here on out :D
I hate that reverb fart effect you put between trailers
A lot of pain for you then
dude, real talk. I don't know if this was supposed to be a joke but showing Compund Fracture and calling its graphics garbage is so uncalled for. Even if this was a joke it didn't feel like one.
It was a ironic joke because it looks awesome
@@ZlimBratSki yeah I figured! but something about that delivery didn't make it click for me. Too subtle maybe?
@@randomdaveguy maybe, I'll think of it next time I do something similar. Rarely happens though :)
