My sincerest apologies for the overuse of the words "balls", "sacks" and "sausages" during the course of this video. I will strive to do better in the future.
A little tip for building up a collection of those "balls", whenever I've had my hot glue gun out, I keep the blobs that drip off of it, very useful for nurglification
@@PeteTheWargamer And for easy gap-filling, UV-curing resin can be really useful. You can drip it into the gaps between your balls (for example), and with a UV torch, it'll cure in seconds.
so many tyranid conversions are way to expensive and over complicated. this was simple, effective and saves money. 10/10. if it weren't for the fact that my swarm lord desperately needed tyrant guard I would've made this.
It's quite a different mindset, having to build things to make them look more natural is definitely harder than just sticking bits to power armour. But, I think I'm getting there and dipping into the sculpting definitely helped!
@@PeteTheWargamer Sadly there isn't much visually to them beside color schemes and lore implications which is why I was curious to see your take on ways to convert Tyranids for a specific hive fleet.
@@PeteTheWargamer I always thought that it would be cool to kitbash a Dimachaeron, a rather expensive Forge World, and as I understand it, powerful and useful miniature. I wonder if it could be made from leftover parts from different kits - I'm thinking Carnifex and Haruspex parts might help.
@@PeteTheWargamer The advantages of the Tyranids is that, at least in the lore, they're always evolving. Center a conversion or set of conversions around a single mutation, or for a purpose or against an enemy the hive has adapted to.
I love the advice you gave about not making modifications after gluing - when I built my LED fire prism and tried to drill out and widen the inside of the barrel it was a catastrophe and I had to gut about an inch of barrel to make the rest of the build work. Good advice to follow for sure.
I absolutely love this kitbash. I'm getting ready to take on my biggest project yet by kitbashing an entire Tyranid army for my 4th army. Your video has been one of the best I've seen for inspiration yet.
few tips cause i super love these videos man: 1. run your VA recordings through Audacity to remove the background hissing of the mic via the "Noise Reduction" effect, just requires a few seconds of dead air at the beginning of any VA recording session for a sample profile to be generated. 2. love the sneaky background mow of the cat at 2:41, hope they are doin alright friend :))) keep up the good work, you are by far the best kitbash channel for 40k i've found thus far, and i love every time i see a vid of yours hit my sub feed !!
Pete. This is spectacular. I just built 6 Hive Guard with my 2 Brood Swarm boxes from Xmas. I now wish I had seen this first. Biovores are such great fun on the battlefield but running only 1 of them is not enough. Thanks again for your inspiration.
Another thing you could use is the barbed strangler ammunition sac. If you cut away the feeder tube a little putty would add some bloat on the belly just like the old biovore model.
I love your conversion videos, its always so neat to see your raw creativity at work. I would also love to see more conversions of some nonGW stuff into 40k stuff, like an orkified version of a B-17 or the wright Flyer.
Great work Pete. The only addition I could possibly suggest is some paint mixed with glue strung over the balls (sacks?) for extra ooze and moisture.... ....oh dear.
Love the paint again , but may have been tempted to use more green stuff to seal the gap at the very top between the two additional carapace pieces, giving it a more organic feel. In my opinion at least. Still a top quality piece though
I think the conversion works wonderfully. Seems like the armor plates on top could use more GS to connect them, giving the creature that prominent central peak that most tyranids have. This army has always seemed more daunting to convert in. I've been watching Modern Synthesis steams, but this conversion seems more attainable at a lower cost and skill entry point. Modern Synth does a lot more sculpting.
Great viedo! Great idea! If I may add, for the Barrel of the Weapon I'd use the Barbred Strangler as it is a tube, and it siuts it more in my opinion, but Great Viedo!
Beautiful! I'm not sure about the second set of arms but the overall is a very good conversion! Hope to see other Tyranids conversions! There's are too few out there! Keep up the good work!
Awesome as always! If you end up doing another tyranid conversion video, pyrovores would be interesting (although a bit similar), as their model is exceedingly expensive.
I think there is definitely options for a Pyrovore! I would probably need to source a larger weapon from somewhere and swap out the sacks for pipes. But it's definitely doable.
@@PeteTheWargamer Yeah i fell in love with them around 2003 but never started them. But now that im older and make money and have the room for the hobby i am really thinking about pulling the trigger ^^.
looks great! this is a very good conversion for a really expensive, old and terrible model to both. I`m not a Tyranid player but i would definetly try this one if i ever become one!

Please don't. This is what we come here for
its fine mate.
And use vaseline on your fingers and surfaces?
Don't be. Slannesh approves!
I'm more offended at the floppy bit of your watch but good video! Really nice work!
You just created the best hive fleet Kronos scheme I have seen. And that by accident, calling it a dark Kraken scheme.
I read that as Dark Karen 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer well they both attack over aggressively for no reason so your not completely wrong lol
Ebony Kraken :)

This conversion is much better than the current plastic version that was shown a week ago. I'm shocked where the design has gone.
A little tip for building up a collection of those "balls", whenever I've had my hot glue gun out, I keep the blobs that drip off of it, very useful for nurglification
thats smart im gonna have to steal that technique
Nice idea! I still need to get myself a glue gun.

Yes! Tyranids are the coolest 40k faction and I'm glad you're covering them.
And I'm glad to hear it :D
Imo Necrons and admech are but tyranids are third, then blood angels.

The paint job is 😍
Thank you :)
Maybe consider converting other Tyranid units or maybe some Hive Fleet adaptations? Tyranid conversions are still quite rare on youtube.
I'm not super up to speed with the Tyranid lore and how the Hive Fleets differ, I should look into them more!

I've been in the same situation, you start sawing or filing something and then model just disintegrates in your hands 😂
I thought those small arms were gunna look ridiculous, but the way theyre cradling the spore sacs is perfect!
The fact that this is cheaper and better looking than the og biovore makes me happy
Glad to see the Tyranids getting some love on here. Great conversation as always, look forward to the painting vid :)

I just love my little pewter Biovores.
I do miss the old metal models.
I really enjoy when you recreate models in this manner.
Seeing you kitbash a plastic Warsmith model would be nice as well to help give us a proper character for the Iron Warriors warbands
Nice idea! Thanks for the suggestion.
@@PeteTheWargamer you're welcome. The old metal model is showing its age and a proper Warlord for the legion would be neat to see.
@@PeteTheWargamer I was thinking of a way to use the Daemonkin Sorcerer from the Shadowspear boxed set as a conversion for a Warsmith
Damn that looks cool. Kitbashers are why I want to get into the hobby, and examples like this make it even more convincing.
This looks astronomically better than the current kit, in my opinion. I'm likely to follow this guide here in the near future
Honestly I think this is the best thing you've ever done
Thank you :D
hell yeah brood brother. this is probably the best tyranid conversion video ive seen!
Thank you!
This is an amazing idea and video! Buying a Hive gaurd kit for 3 biovores when they usually the same price for just one. That's a difference.
Could we get some plastic warpspider conversions?
Yep, it's still being worked on :)

I've got a few ideas for more 🙂

Thanks!
Why does this look so much better than my actual metallic biovore model :D
I could listen to you talk for hours about almost anything Pete, love your vids!
Awesome work Pete! Not only does this one look amazing but it's practical seeing as you only need the one kit (mostly) to build three of them.
I would love to see a side-by-side comparison between your conversion and an actual biovore. Awesome job nevertheless 😁
Huge fan of these kitbash videos! I'd love to see one for mark of nurgle gors.
