Love the butterfly theme- perhaps lean into that, add wings, experiment with iridescent paint, pose them on grotesque flowers, add butterfly’s weird curled tongues.
Meaby add lore, prehaps they use visual patterns to confuse and overwhelm and consume plant biomass to create high sugar/calorie food for bioforms to improve thier metabolism
Murray never fails to surprise me with his paint jobs. When he's starting it all looks super sloppy but as he finishes it looks AWESOME, it's a really unique style. Also, those conversions are awesome, made me really want to try kitbashing minis myself.
It’s nice to see the scratchy drawings for the ideas, showing that if you’re not the best artist when it comes to drawing you can still get the idea down and use it as a base for what you want to do with your model.
oh man, that gun-out-the-chest conversion is PERFECT! I've always thought Tyranids holding guns in their hands looked a bit goofy, but was never really creative enough to come up with a good conversion I liked. Might have to try that one out!
It helped me to recognize how natural adaptations in reality use what material is already there to create new forms. Because a Tyranid bioform can have so many variations, there must be some kind of base "template" from which new adaptations evolve. It makes sense that, in the way that bat wings have integrated finger and joint structures, the adapted weapons--usually a different bioform, symbiotically joined--would be integrated into the already-existing hand and claw structures that the bioform template already possesses. More than anything, biology strives to be calorie-efficient when it can. Why waste calories iteratively evolving a bespoke genetic expression for each distinct adaptation that might arise when you can just adapt one gene to express differently in the presence of certain other symbiotic relationships?
Man Murray I'm so glad you're part of the tabletop team. Seeing your features I'm always impressed and learn something new. Thanks to all the patrons to allow these guys to take their time with their process. It's been awesome and inspiring following each of these series.
I forgot, how much I loved the diorama, such a cool mixture of my favorite colors. I can't wait to see your tyrannids crush, the space bears, sisters, and tau warriors.
Hey Murray. Next time you do the running goop effect mix PVA and Superglue. Both glues will allow you to stretch it out and drip it down better than just your glue snd paint mix
I used to have a custom Tyranid army, till my Septic tank backed up and destroyed all the models. I love seeing people work on their own concepts for these little buggers. One of my favorite things to do with my old models was to make a heavy weapon variant of the Devourer weapon. I did this by taking two devourers, snipping off the 'barrel' part of one of them, shaving the bottoms of both devourers flat, and then gluing the spare head to the bottom of the first. This made for a beefier looking weapon overall. I liked to put these on warriors and Carnifex's. As they were a little too bulky for gaunts unless you were very good at reposing. Hope to see more space bug goodness from you guys! Keep up the good work Murray!
The colour scheme goes really well with the hive fleet name. I also really like incorparating the weapons into their bodies as a proper organic part of them. I'm eventually going to do similar when I get around to my Tyranids.
These are my favorite videos of yours, exploring how you guys inject personality and lore into your killteams and armies - it’s amazing to see both the technical aspects of your conversions and paint schemes, as well as the planning and scheming that goes into building up your personalized factions
These warriors look just amazing for a custom hive fleet! nicknamed my Tyranid prime w/ 4x boneswords the Swarm Prince. Not quite a Tyrant or Swarmlord, but still acts as a commander in their absence.
Two things One are you ever going to add more to the playlist For this custom hive fleet Two Are we gonna see any more of these From the hive Fleet Leviathan Bach
I genuinely wish I would have known more about warhammer when starting instead of going straight into the SCE army half of the khorne sets my dad got me into. Building was his favorite and still is mine, and chaos/nids are honestly the most fun to kitbash because you can basically just do anything. Most of my stormcast just have different heads, different side swords, and sometimes some custom weapons, a far cry from mashing extra limbs on or having a straight up artillery piece coming out of the chest
Murray has done nothing but KILL it! These are nasty in the best of ways! The distended jaw and the stretchy flesh is so unsettling and really gives these guys something special! Not to mention the painting itself is just beautiful. I love this so much, what an amazing job well done!!!
Absolutely INSANE how awesome these are. Suggestion for a Carnifex- the Jotunn are often depicted with axes, so for scything tails, make them more like an Axe Head!
I mentioned not being able to wait for more big things on Dave's Crisis suit, now can't wait to see Carnifex, Swarmlord, Hive Tyrant, Tyrranofex, Exocrine... geez, the Tyranid line has a bunch of cool stuff.
Amazing conversions! I'm genuinely impressed. If you ever get to build a whole army, you ABSOLUTELY NEED to include a Mawloc and a Haruspex, they look like they fit absolutely flawlessly in with these. In the meantime you should convert a Parasite of Mortrex with a xenomorph-like mouth. Not only would it fit thematically with that it's doing but it'd be great alongside the predator-mouthed tyranids you have already :)
I really hope to see this project continue! Murray's presenting skill is also top notch and whilst I know it's repetitive I'm almost upset I didn't get to sit mesmerised and watch gaunt after gaunt get painted up!
Absolutely stunning! I'm definitely using a bunch of the techniques from this video on my own nids. Especially those open jaw mouths, I have tons of extra gaunt heads. Fantastic work, another great conversion.
👍👍Looking awesome mate you've done great there! How about doing a little guy coming out of a big guy as the Tyranids are known to recycle their own dead 😊
Wow Murray, your Nids look awesome. That's some pretty nifty conversion work, and that colour scheme is beautiful. Would love to see a massive swarm of those guys in the future.
They look great! Particularly love the cannon protruding from the warriors mouth! Reminds me of the original art from the tyrannofex from the 5th edition tyranid codex
For "horrible drool", may I suggest the Splash paint from AK Interactive? I think if you paint Nurgle's Rot or some other glossy paint over the drops, it would look like saliva strings
Whilst I am 99% sure that if a warrior came out of the birthing pools like your venom cannoned here the hive would fast track it to the reclamation pools, or kill it with bioplasma, its super original, grotesque and is a really really interesting.
Use Vasoline on your green stuff and tools makes it easier to work with just remember to wiped it off for painting and use rubber tip tools there are better for sculpting
If you're struggling with balancing the amount of water on your greenstuff you might get some mileage out of instead applying Vaseline directly to the tools to lubricate them and prevent them from sticking. It works well for me.
Love them, and really looking forward to some more Kill Team battle reports. I've made a tyranid kill team too, and just a tip, if you swap out the gaunts for genestealers they can be brilliant in the kill team game as if they are concealed in cover they can't be targeted other than by things like grenades. Also i'd love to see how you personalise them.
Oh god... You've inspired me to start painting again. I haven't touched the game, or the models, in years. However, this might have just restarted that love afair I initially had for Tyranids. Also, these turned out brilliantly!
I've always found myself thinking of doing Tyranids, but tend to get cold feet, and do something else. But I'm thinking you might be changing my view on this, Murray, cause these look sick! As per ideas, I think you need to go with some gamesmanship. The guardsman on the diorama is awesome, but you could start with the mindgames on Dave and Jazza. So, since you're going with the detachable jaws, maybe have one mid-devouring a Fire Warrior, by having a leg sticking out. Or having one stomping on a Space Bear! 😈
These are my favourite videos from you guys. Just showing of your talent and imagination. Space Bears pulled me in, but the rest of you and all your projects made me stay.
Honestly Murray is insanely talented.
Terrifyingly so
Came here to say the same thing! So true
No doubt.
Love the butterfly theme- perhaps lean into that, add wings, experiment with iridescent paint, pose them on grotesque flowers, add butterfly’s weird curled tongues.

this is ass. looks like shit i did when i was 12
It’s nice to see the scratchy drawings for the ideas, showing that if you’re not the best artist when it comes to drawing you can still get the idea down and use it as a base for what you want to do with your model.
It helps that he’s a really talented drawer too, even if the shapes are basic, he perfectly captures the look.
oh man, that gun-out-the-chest conversion is PERFECT! I've always thought Tyranids holding guns in their hands looked a bit goofy, but was never really creative enough to come up with a good conversion I liked. Might have to try that one out!

@Stephanie Aensland 3 I like your funny words magic man.
"Oh cool a Nids painting vide... OMG THAT CONVERSION THIS IS AWSOME."
5:30 - ahh, chaos black nailwork :D
Wargamer Thumb
The guts Hanging between the blades are freaking awesome. I'm definitely stealing that!❤️
Man Murray I'm so glad you're part of the tabletop team. Seeing your features I'm always impressed and learn something new.

Those jotunns look amazing, love your paintwork Murray. Need to see more of these conversion contents please
Need more Murry and their tyranids. So flippin cool. Absolutely love your conversions!
Love the custom army videos. Nothing more entertaining and inspiring than to see someone crafting their own models and making something truly unique
Hey Murray. Next time you do the running goop effect mix PVA and Superglue. Both glues will allow you to stretch it out and drip it down better than just your glue snd paint mix
Seriously, Murray is amazing! He brings such a unique and different vibe to the whole channel. Amazing!
This is really really nice idea and great execution. Love those guys and I hope you'll spin kill-team into full army some time :D
Murray has such an awesome, relaxing voice. This was a pleasure to watch and listen to.
I used to have a custom Tyranid army, till my Septic tank backed up and destroyed all the models. I love seeing people work on their own concepts for these little buggers.

these are amazing, my favorite is the mouth gun, just the way it all came together *chefs kiss*
Two things
One are you ever going to add more to the playlist For this custom hive fleet
Two Are we gonna see any more of these From the hive Fleet Leviathan Bach
Congratulations Murray great art work. Your very talented! Hope we get to see more...🤩
It would be awesome to see some truly outlandish Tyranid kit bashes. I know Murray can come up with something epic!
Love that chest-gun tyranid.
Definitely better this way, than the first idea.
Love the butterfly effect for the carapace. Might steal for my own tyranids.
This paint scheme reminds me of They Live by John Carpenter.
Murray can be so silly or so serious, but always so talented just like everyone else on the team 💚
I genuinely wish I would have known more about warhammer when starting instead of going straight into the SCE army half of the khorne sets my dad got me into. UHU glue is really good for that dripping blood/saliva vibe vs hot glue tendrils
Murray has done nothing but KILL it! These are nasty in the best of ways! The distended jaw and the stretchy flesh is so unsettling and really gives these guys something special! Not to mention the painting itself is just beautiful. I love this so much, what an amazing job well done!!!
the butterfly pattern makes it so beautiful
Absolutely INSANE how awesome these are.
Suggestion for a Carnifex- the Jotunn are often depicted with axes, so for scything tails, make them more like an Axe Head!

You were not kidding about going for the awesome silhouette! Great job!
I think you're custom stuff like this is my favourite!
Amazing conversions! I'm genuinely impressed. If you ever get to build a whole army, you ABSOLUTELY NEED to include a Mawloc and a Haruspex, they look like they fit absolutely flawlessly in with these.

The color scheme gives me hunter vibes from Halo, which I feel fits pretty well with the whole Jotunn naming.
They look sick! really giving the terrifying alien vibe. Please do some Genestealers and make the old sculpts look like this!
im always super blown away by the colour theory and bold use of contrast in Murray's videos. Really impressive.
the venom cannon sculpt is incredible! what a cool killteam
also i think hive guard are an incredible model, would be fun to see your take on those!
Gonna be honest, these are some of the nicest nids I've seen. The one holding his deathspitter out to one side gives me kellermorph vibes
👍👍Looking awesome mate you've done great there!
How about doing a little guy coming out of a big guy as the Tyranids are known to recycle their own dead 😊
The final effect is so good! Wellington done!
Those look so cool! Would love to see you do another 3 for a full warrior kill team
Those warriors look incredible! Wish I had the ability to pull something like that off
I can’t wait to see this battle report. Tyranids!
Would love to see a trigonometry in your colour scheme, Murry. Would certainly be interesting to see
Wow Murray, your Nids look awesome.
I really enjoy Murray, my favorite TTT personality.
You _could_ use the diorama as a Unit Filler for a standard block of Tyranid infantry. It just represents a bunch of regular "Gaunts".
These look fabulous! Thanks for giving me some inspiration for my own Tyranids, I'm definitely going to try that stringy blood and acid effect!
Three way kill team battle between Murray, Dave, and Jazza would be incredible!
These are my favorite models on the channel. Incredible work.
Jotun is a good name. Suits the Nordic mythology/folklore theme of the Fleets
For "horrible drool", may I suggest the Splash paint from AK Interactive? I think if you paint Nurgle's Rot or some other glossy paint over the drops, it would look like saliva strings

Love seeing all the awsome custom armies they make
Use Vasoline on your green stuff and tools makes it easier to work with just remember to wiped it off for painting and use rubber tip tools there are better for sculpting
Literally building a Baneblade custom for my Fenrisian Guard and planned on calling it JotunnBane and now need to get tyranid bits to put on it
If you're struggling with balancing the amount of water on your greenstuff you might get some mileage out of instead applying Vaseline directly to the tools to lubricate them and prevent them from sticking. It works well for me.
You guys should do some gundam again, and maybe build an army for gamma wolves!
Mad lad actually named them jotunn, listening to the fans, nice!
I just love how Murray is always smiling. Also the not-zergs look great. Gross, disgusting... but great. :)
Crazy awesome custom build Murry!
More Murray videos! This video was great (and disgusting)! Can't wait to see a batrep with these nasty monsters.
How about a Peacock effect on a big boy to really add to the name; "Distraction Carnifex"?
the details are crazy!!! wow
Love them, and really looking forward to some more Kill Team battle reports. I've made a tyranid kill team too, and just a tip, if you swap out the gaunts for genestealers they can be brilliant in the kill team game as if they are concealed in cover they can't be targeted other than by things like grenades. Those so look. Crossing my fingers that they will win. Patiently waiting for the battle reports
Haha I love lil mouth gun guy. That's really great.
Hope to see more os these Tyrannids, your work is amazing!
Amazing conversions!!
I could watch Murray paint all day
The Cannon mouth one is so cool but disgusting. The lumps being held in place by the hands looks so good
Maaaan this is one of my favourite projects you guys have done, these are so slick
AMAZING! why haven't i thaught of such conversions
Thank you for this video. I just bought a box of warriors and I’ve been searching for inspiration.
Love the slime-drool-effect
Oh god... You've inspired me to start painting again. I haven't touched the game, or the models, in years. However, this might have just restarted that love afair I initially had for Tyranids. Also, these turned out brilliantly!
0:51 ta that moment it really looks like a zerg hydralisk's head ngl
I've always found myself thinking of doing Tyranids, but tend to get cold feet, and do something else. But I'm thinking you might be changing my view on this, Murray, cause these look sick!

Murray you absolute genius! These look fantastic 😍
I just had a friend who stopped painting minis drop hundreds of tyrranids off at my house to get me back into the hobby and this was wayyyy to perfect
Maybe I’ll get into 40k now…
Hell yeah man, they all look so unique
so cool i want try to make some of this warrior i loved the same side canon it's incredible
Super glue your initial greenstuff to the surface to keep it from moving.
Great video Murray. The Tyranids look fantastic!
best video by tabletop time in a while
Yessss...conversion is life.
I tried greenstuff but have to say that i prefer standard milliput for sculpting and filling gaps.
I cant wait to see these monsters in action
that stop motion was really nicely done :)
WOW so cool well done Murray
They really look spectacular
Murray strikes again...God damn these are amazing mate
