Name and lore suggestion: "Ruinwalker" piloted by a "Weldmaster". Weldmasters are those among the Skavyn (space skaven) who are particularly adept in the relm of the mechanical. Their heighten technical ability only seems to enhance their destructive nature however, as weldmasters cannot help but create powerful and unstable engines of war to unleash on their enemies. The ruinwalker is the latest example of engineering madness to come from the minds of the weldmasters. Little more than a scrap husk built around a core of refined warpstone, the ruinwalker is capable of disintegrating anything its weapons are able to hit. Even disabling the vehicle cannot prevent further destruction, as when it falls to the ground and the hull inevitably cracks, warpfire will spill from the husk for sometime, eradicating friend and foe indiscriminately and leaving the area around irreversibly barren and corrupted hundreds of years
"The Skavyn are, perhaps, the most insidious foe Mankind has to encounter. They dwell in the dark, squalid, decrepit places, among the refuse and despair of the Imperium's war machine factories. The Under Empire watches the works of the Emperor with spiteful jealousy, plotting civilization's downfall in a prophesized day of reckoning that their grotesque kind calls the Vermin Tide. Yet, despite being of the Warp, they share little cause with the forces of the Despoiler, often facing Abbadon's Black Legion in battle as often as Imperial troops. Their origins are unknown, with disparate reports, tall tales, and myths about man-sized rats stretching back as far as the Great Crusade. Thanks to the efforts of the Inquisition, the truth may never be fully known." Your comment inspired some lore

More Space Skaven please. I have always had a special place in my shriveled, warpstone corrupted heart for the children of the Horned Rat, and it is great to see they made to the 40th millennium. I squirt the musk of approval in your general direction.
More Space Rats PLEASE! I'm currently working and struggling to put together a 40k Skaven army and would love more Space Rat builds from the guy who inspired to start one in the first place 🐀
I'm interested in doing something similar, what rules would you use for them? I'm wondering if maybe admech would be a good fit, given their weird and whacky looking contraptions but i really dont know what would fit the idea of skaven while still being valid rules in 40k.
I love that despite having to operate inside of what I imagine is a cramped tank the commanders ego still demands that he wear a large headcrest to prove his superiority.
[SUGGESTION] I loved your "How to kitbash every legion" series and I thought it would be cool to see an allegiance swap video series where you do traitor versions of all the loyalist legions and vice versa for the traitors.
@richarddixon1450 this is a cool idea, i think an SM conversion out of those red vampire armor models would be cool. You could also use the armor for a Reaver Jetbike Drukhari conversion.
Day one of 2023 and Christmas came early this year. Space skavens are my favorite kitbashing you make. You made me start my own Space skaven army called Cheesestealer Cult. Looking forward what more work you come up for in 2023 . Happy new year!
I would really recommend putting some tank modelers/painters youtube videos on your watch later before painting another armored vehicle. Your FANTASTIC at painting stuff that would be impossible for armored modelers like cloth, but you then apply these techniques to heavy armor and bolts and it looks a little funky lol. maybe [painting like that could be a New Year's Resolution?
These strange walking tanks were originally dubbed 'monster balls' due to their large size and spherical shape, but due to a communications disruption over an unreliable vox trasmitter, the Administratum erroneously misrecorded the transmission of one, Private Willard Hamm, thus listing the name of these unusual, ramshackle war machines as 'Hamm'Ster Balls'. It's probably just as well, to be honest, given that 'monster balls' makes it sound like the ratmen possess unusually large testicles (Which many admittedly rodents do, but it has yet to be observed in the mutant specimens piloting these vehicles).
Please more Space Skaven! Your kitbashes are amazing and a serious source of inspiration. Not only the crafting, but the painting too, I love you style. Keep up the amazing work!
I love everything about this. The Space Skaven. The great kitbash. The crisp glow effect. It's all good-nice, yes yes. For those looking for opportunities to run Space Skaven, know that One Page Rules has an army list for Ratman Clans in Grimdark Future. Though you might need to take the Dunecrawler equivalent stat line from the "Machine Cult" list, if you want to run this bad boy.
Hey Pete! I think it would be really awesome for you to start the year by showcasing all the conversions you have kept over the years in one video. I think a lot of people would be interested and are itching to see the great collection you’ve amassed so far.
"Everbrood", drawing from main clans of skaven (mainly Moulder, Pestilence, and Skryre), is the inventention that makes use of infamous Brood Horrors. Since Great Horned Rat hates waste, it ordered its children to construct this walking timebomb: this walking turret houses several Brood Horrors forced inside and, as they devour each other and regrow, the plague slowly builds up. Eventually, as the haul starts to crack, skaven park it somewhere and run off before the whole thing explodes and releases the Dark Plague that looks like a tide of vermin. Dunno, feels like something skaven would do, they are wacky like that.
Two kit bashes and you've effectively created the bases of an entire army. Common troops, elites amazing work. I can see these infesting the nooks and crannies on Mars.
From all your build i've always enjoyed the homebrew ones the best, the nurgle dryads, the space-skaven(found something called veer-min because of that video) all these homebrew ones have so much more feeling more substance to them imo. Pls keep them up
See, this is how you open up a new year with a bang! I love how you used the Votann for the body, I'm definitely going to use that as an idea for conversions of my own!
While I have no dream of playing a space rat army it's always great to see what kind of ideas you come up with. I'm still hoping you are gonna make a Nurgle themed Sister of Battle. The first two chaos gods were great.
The Order of the Eternal Weeping? The name sounds like they're crying in sorrow, but in reality, their wounds constantly release foul discharge. And then he needs to make the Order of Our Unwavering Truth, which definitely isn't Tzeetchian.
You see, I personally am making a Leagues of Vrrtkin army (A Skaven/Votann kitbash army, Vrrtkin is a clan that is focused on Poison Wind Globidiers), and seeing this, I want to make it. I don’t know what rules I would use, probably making it a Necromunda thing and buy into the Squat Prospectors and do the exact same, but have them based around a different clan. I don’t know. No matter what, seeing you make Space Skaven with Votann while I myself am doing the same, it brings joy to my heart. Great conversion.
Doomcrawler gets my vote for the name. A nod to both the Skaven Doom Wheel and the Dune Crawler the conversion is based around. Great video and conversion Pete. Wish you the best for 2023.
Amazing build! I love the look of the promethium tank. Feature builds? Perhaps a combat patrol. 1 hq, 1 troop, 1 fast and 1 heavy. Keep fun though. Rules? A Scion with grenade launcher, a dune strider. Mix Liste.
This is what I love about you, Pete. You are so obviously starved for content, having already done all the obvious videos, but instead of giving up, you instead pull something absolutely insane from nowhere, and against all odds, you manage to make it so good. Space Skaven? That's ridiculous. But it still looks absolutely amazing. I most definetely approve.
Pete the Passive Voice User. You’ve got one of the most soothing voices in all the hobby, and your tutorials are fantastic! Thanks for inspiring so many wacky, interesting projects for the average hobbyist to copy and draw inspiration from! Happy new year
Love this. The vehicle is great, but using Hearthkyn for Space Skaven worked so much better than I'd have expected. I'd love to see more infantry conversions, maybe also incorporating the Hearthguard and Cthonian Beserks.
Love to see your continued Space Skaven work. It'd be cool to see your take on a leader for this faction, like a sci-fi conversion of Thanquol and Boneripper or one of the Verminlords.
Come on! Here I am kitbashing a Kaldor Drago (the fine cast I got is terrible) and you drop this beautiful bastard. Hell yeah! Keep going with rats in space! Happy new year!
Thank you for great videos in 2022 with much inspiration, a happy new year, and I'm truly looking forward what you're going to present in 2023. All the best!
That glow effect is ACTUALLY insane. Good god man. Just when I think you can't outdo yourself anymore, you go and prove me wrong. Bravo! In regards to whatever space skaven stuff you might do next, why not some more body horror monster stuff? You've done this as an homage to the Clan Skyre side of Skaven, but what kind of abominations would Clan *Moulder* make in the 41st Millennium? 🤔
This mech is awesome! Please do more space Skaven ^^ I’m currently working on a space rat army using the votann box and this video really motivated me to keep working on the project and gave me some ideas how to make the models a bit more unique compared to the actual votann :)
An interesting fact until the early 90s there was at least 1 space skaven in the warhammer 40k universe. I don't remember all the details because I heard about it a long time ago, but as far as I can tell this skaven was a companion of the radical Inquisitor (if I'm not mistaken) who arrived on a planet that was cut off from the rest of the Imperium by a strong Warp storm. There were a whole bunch of different factions on this planet (Orcs, humans, Eldar, etc.) that coexisted in the +- peace. There are also official sketch of this space skaven (It looks like it was drawn by the same person who was responsible for the sketches of the Imperial Navy crew).
I did enjoy the space Scaven concept. The model looked brilliant. An idea for a concept would be a Necromunda Brats gang. 40k Rich kids armed to the teeth. They remind of the gangs from the Purge movie.
This is definitely motivating for me. My New Years goal was to assemble and paint all I have before purchasing new hobby. Day one of new year so far so good lol!
Great build! I would love to see your take on a 40k version of the Doom Wheel or the Doom Bell (or both). They are both so iconic I couldn't imagine Skaven not having them, not even in space.
I'd call it the spy-pyder stalker, it's a fast attack that specialises in disruption in its speed and ability to fire it's anti infantry flamer, or overload in the true skaven way and fire an anti tank barrage of flames
Just got into W40K again after a long break and your videos have been great inspiration! I bought Blood Angels and I'm thinking about playing Flesh Tearers, I would love to see you update the Gabriel Seth model to modern standards such as a Primaries version! Either way love the work on the space skaven and have a happy new year!
I love the idea of a skaven mech that does refueling.. also being armed to the teeth and majorly designed for combat rather than actually carrying fuel
This is an interesting army idea. I can imagine some troopers/clanrats with cybernetic parts, like using heavy cables for tails (maybe with bolt pistols or other small ordnance), and psyker warlocks...
I would love to see some heresy era death guard conversions. Plus I would highly recommend submitting some of your conversions to white dwarf as I am sure they'll get in.
Hey Pete, I want to apologize for the rude comment I left you a few videos back. Your stuff is always impressive and imaginative, and I've especially enjoyed you adding the painting process along with the building. Sorry for my rudeness before.
Looks like a big tank full of little skaven dudes. Big rule should be something akin to a skaven unit spawn or transport, however it only releases the swarm upon death or smth

A very good kitbashing, inspiring, thank you ☺
Absolutely love your space Skaven, please do more!
I think this should be called Doom Crawler. Like a mix of Doom Wheel and Dune Crawler.
that... loooks amazing
This is an interesting army idea. I can imagine some troopers/clanrats with cybernetic parts, like using heavy cables for tails (maybe with bolt pistols or other small ordnance), and psyker warlocks...
Nice kitbash, really love the idea, well executed!
I would love to see some heresy era death guard conversions. Plus I would highly recommend submitting some of your conversions to white dwarf as I am sure they'll get in.
I think it'd be awesome to see more mechs
Great vid, thank you - more conversions, kitbashing and suchlike please
That old video inspired me to make a killteam from sotrmvermin and genestealer cultist and a few third party bits it was a really fun build
I don't even play Warhammer, but this is so cool
Hey Pete, I want to apologize for the rude comment I left you a few videos back. Your stuff is always impressive and imaginative, and I've especially enjoyed you adding the painting process along with the building. Sorry for my rudeness before.
Looks like a big tank full of little skaven dudes. Big rule should be something akin to a skaven unit spawn or transport, however it only releases the swarm upon death or smth
