The Fallen are really fun to build if you try making them this way instead of just adding chaos power packs to Veteran Dark Angels like most do! As Pete said that way is acceptable but it's not very inspirational.
Speaking of boots on a space marine, I've used fantasy chaos warrior legs to make Thunder Warriors for kill team, perhaps a conversion along those lines would be cool to see in the future.
@@ramonecasar3177 Would you mind uploading an imgur gallery or something and linking it? Would love to see. Thunder Warrior conversions are always really cool to see! :D
Incredible idea, I'm defo gonna give it try. I'm going to have fun modelling the chaos lord on his beastie into a Fallen "daemon prince" riding a xenos lizard
I do love the idea that the Fallen, cut off from any sort of supply lines or tech-priests (either AdMech or Dark Mechanicum), have to scavenge parts and make do with what they have. Sometimes this means not having full suits of power armor, replacing what's missing with plates or leather boots. It reminds me of the Night Lords trilogy that I've been reading lately. The particular Night Lords company depicted in the novels were limping along, pirating and scavenging for scraps. Desperate to keep their armor in working order, their weapons stocked with ammunition, and their ship flight-worthy. Armor pieces especially were coveted, leading to them picking fights with other space marines (loyalist or otherwise), and even pillaging their own dead for parts (in addition to securing their gene-seed). The Fallen, in this scheme, have it even worse than the crew of the _Covenant of Blood._ Not even having consistent access to manufactorums/workshops, tech-priests, or the force of numbers needed to take on other space marines. Their standards must be lowered, as to survive in a galaxy that is hostile to them.
It does have a hardbitten quality to it. I like how you're the one channel just showing what you do. No here's one I did earlier, just skill and an actual tutorial. Good work as always.
Thank you. When making these guides I try to do something that I would have found useful when I first started kitbashing so I like to explain my techniques as much as is reasonable. It might get boring sometimes for regular viewers but I want them to be accessible.
@@PeteTheWargamer Your videos and guides are never boring. And it's obvious that you research the lore behind the models your planning to convert and then you find the ideal parts and models to kit bash yourself instead of just blindly following the accept methods and guides that fans or GW normally recommend for the conversios

you say you're not sure about the boots? The boots make the model! I imagine fallen as being scattered and ever on the run. Like an excaped convict pulling clothes off a clothesline they probably scavenge what ever armors they come across, with their original pieces damaged in battle days past and discarded. So these boots were probably taken from a mercenary who attempted to apprehend the fallen but failed. I imagine those Mark 3s were starting to wear out after 10ks.
Probably one of my favourite kitbashes you've done! I love that scavenger aesthetic you've given the model and it makes me want to make a whole chaos warband with that style! Imagining rusted old dreadnoughts with replaced parts and daemonic flesh keeping it barely intact or Rhinos trundling along with a tarp covering it's damaged transport compartment seems like a really fun army project!
You could go even further yet. How about sticking some random parts from Xenos armies onto the machines? Some parts looted from Eldar, Tau, or Necron war machines, stuck in there with no idea how they work, only that they just about do. Or worse yet, ORK parts. Held together by the beliefs of Orks.
So splendid! I'm, however, both scared and excited at the prospect of witnessing your attempt at kitbashing some Thunder Warriors :O My expectations are high, not gonna lie.
I absolutely love this. The "fallen" models from GW are no longer available which leaves me optimistic that maybe a new model is on the way but I'm not holding my breath on that one. That being said, I totally kitbashed my own with a mixture of mk3 armor bits, some deathwatch and vanguard veteran legs to make them taller, some of the new chaos space marine models, and the forgeworld da helmets. This kitbash is amazing, great work!
9:15- I think the boots works great here! It definitely gives the feeling of not having professionals available to do proper upkeep on armor! I think the only thing I might have changed (only because I don’t really know what they looked like during the split) is maybe the helmet!?! But if this is more accurate then just ignore me lol
"Luther, I've Fallen, and I can't get up!" That's a great mini; but, boy, is that a wobbly razor saw! I've got one with a broader blade and a thick spine to keep it stiff and stable.
Vertus Praetors, some old Custodes, Thunder Warriors, Alpha Legion wearing some sort of civilian clothes in the desert (in Legion) wore boots, so to me the leather boots aren't that odd at all. It's really cool, nice conversion !
I love this idea, my only thought I have to this is to include some of the MK3 legs to give a little more marine vibes just to ensure that it can't be confused entirely, the overall look is great, but that personally would be the only thing I would have done else to ensure the look of the Fallen is more complete.
I would love to see you do a small army kitbash (especially a small Fallen army!) for your ideas and tips on kitbashing on a larger scale. Great work, as always!
Damn Pete. My entire army is converted from chaos marines! I like to use them as iron hands or death guard so I kept the shields and just roughed them up a little. Very cool conversion you did.
