@@stockdam I've read that early in Queen's career, he'd give every night everything he had, and blow out his voice by the end of a tour. I guess that he learned how to dial it back just enough to keep his voice going for an entire tour without too much damage, and part of that was skipping some of the really high falsettos.

Besides his vocal nodules, and his, to put it kindly, not-the-most-healthy lifestyle, Freddie also couldn't take great care of his voice in general. For a span of roughly 15 years, Queen was going nonstop from studio to touring and back to studio, giving him very little time to rest the vocal chords. Of course, he did the best that he possibly could, but often cutting back on the high notes and other vocally strenuous parts of songs were necessary in order to preserve his voice down the line. Over time, he experimented with lots of different vocal techniques in order to make up for it, which is big part of how he had such a massive range (in tone). With regards to Freddie's general avoidance (there are plenty of exceptions, don't worry) of falsetto and other softer and quieter sounds in his live performances, you also have to consider the time period. There was no in-ear pieces to help singers hear themselves, and the sound systems live weren't amazing. In order to be clearly heard through all the rest of the instruments, especially in rock, you had sing as loud and as powerfully as you could muster. Which is why in concert we sadly rarely heard Freddie's falsetto, or just his delicate angelic tone he used often on record (at least in the 70s).
I often struggle to find words to articulate Freddie Mecury's genius, his talent, so don't feel bad. I just sit back, smile and feel lucky I get to be a witness.

@@Katzenhase Du wirst lachen.
since 1985 more less Freddie started to be affected by throat issues in his vocals like laringitis . I think that AIDS was actually affecting him in his singing . In Magic Tour 86 , their last tour, the people who was around him said he wasn,t fine , something wrong happened with him . For me the best live Freddie was from 1980 to 1983. In Live Aid he already had problems but he was so big , so profesional that he really did his best live performance of his career . Excuse me please for my english . It,s not my motherhood lenguage and thanks for this videos . We can see your admiration and love for our dear Freddie .
You absolutely HAVE to give your thoughts on his performance of White Queen from A Night At Oden - Hammersmith 1975. It gives my wife and I goosebumps every single time.
I enjoyed your take on Freddie's singing so much! I would love to hear your take on the last song he ever recorded. It was, unfortunately, never performed live because he recorded it when he was quite literally near death. In fact, he left the studio before recording the last verse and was never able to return. Eventually, after his death, the final verse was recorded by Brian May. The song is "Mother Love" from the "Made in Heaven" album. It was released four years after Freddie's death. I think his vocals are amazing for a man who could only barely stand on his own. I'm not a singer or a vocal coach but would love to hear what you think. Thank you for your thoughtful video!
I cry every time I listen to that song. Brian said that he was so sick that day, they asked him if he could record. He said something to the effect "Darling, of course I can" He had a shot, knowing Freddie a big shot, and did the vocals. I have nothing but love for Freddie!! ❤❤
I also think that he is much too young...when he died...but I personally think that he is perfectly infected...although someone will now claim that this is a conspiracy theory...but I personally think that someone was at work...and we all know exactly who that dick was...
I’m new to the party here...a vocalist still learning, at 57 years old. Love your reactions, observations, et al- learning from you already.......subtle things and compensating - I’ll be here.....🎼🎶❤️thanks!
The powerful song was Freddie singing Who wants to Live Forever, from the movie Highlander which Queen wrote and performed the score for. The version shown here was Wembley 1986, another great version was at Budapest in 86.
At times you appeared to be blushing ☺️ It’s okay... Freddie has a way of doing that 😉 He’s magnificent! And the full throttle song was ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ 🥰
It's finals week, thought I'd take a break from homework and watch this video. And now I'm crying!! How does Freddie do it, every time. I love him so much. Even found a way to quote some of his lyrics in my term paper. :) The Best! If you love Freddie, you will love yourself also, just as much. A life-changing performer.
Linor, thank you, it is so amazing to see you holding on so professionally, where anyone would break down to tears. Thank you for telling what you think are the strong parts of Freddy's vocals and confirming some things that are mostly just a hunch to complete non-professionals.
During your reaction Linor, you said that Save Me was your favorite. You only caught a small glimpse of him singing Save Me. You definitely need to react to Save Me Live in Montreal! Freddie gives one of his MOST beautiful performances vocally and visually. It TRULY is the most beautiful, heart wrenching version of this song. You will absolutely be mesmerized and fall in love with him during this performance. The most POWERFUL and CLEAN version of this song. It’s right up there with Somebody To Love in Montreal. You will be blown away. Please Please Please do it❤️

Linor: you're take on the vocal art is gorgeous and bold. Do not look away from your own greatness. This frenzied Freddie would have to have been proud of your approval.
Being honest about Freddie’s voice is not betraying him, or dismissing his incredible talent. He was untrained, and didn’t treat his vocal chords as carefully as someone trained would have. He was amazing live...but also had many live performances where the voice wasn’t there because of growths on his vocal chords from pushing it. He himself admitted many times that he was saved in concert by Brian’s, and particularly Roger’s, vocals filling in. He could hit the high notes, absolutely. But to do so for 2+ hours over the length of a concert would have been too much. So, he dropped down and/or gave the notes to Roger, whose natural voice was higher (Roger has a harder time with lower notes).
It’s nice to see someone appreciate Rodgers voice, because he could hit them high notes and sang very well, I mean with Freddy up front it’s hard to over look Rodger and Brian as well John did excellent back up vocals also all four were just so damm good God given talent and passion.
I am in my 70s and just recently discovered the amazing talents of Freddie and Queen. i agree with a comment below that suggests you do one of these on You Take My Breath Away. Thanks for your great videos on Freddie, I am learning more and more.
I was working and trying to support three children back then. I graduated from high school in 1962. I was always an Elvis fan - we share a January 8 birthday. By the time I was able to get out, I took up ballroom dancing and was more interested in the "real" music from the 40s and 50s which was better for the dancing I was doing. I guess I was always aware of Queen and Freddie and always enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody. I was listening to a talk show host comparing Freddie with Kurt Cobain; and he preferred Kurt. That got me interested, and I started watching everything Freddie and Queen on youtube. So interested in that I never got to check out the other guy.
I have re discovered Queen last December when I saw the movie, of course I knew who Queen was but never get to hear all their songs and after the movie the first thing I did was watching Queen's Live Aid performance. That night I fell in love with the band, with Freddie and I bought the Wemblay concert dvd, the Montreal show dvd and Queen live at the rainbow. My friends and family thinks I am going slightly mad, I am just in love. It is never to late to discover how magnificent this band was.
Hi, I have not yet seen the movie but planning to, and will scout around for CDs. The live shows are definitely the best, watching them perform is much more exciting than just hearing. One of my best Freddie moments is when he sings out phrases to the audience and the sing back to him. Have you seen Freddie with Monserrat Caballe, the opera singer. course I love the song Barcelona, but The Golden Boy is particularly fabulous, as is his duet on How Can I Go On. Clearly she and Freddie have a very special bond, and her joy shows all over her face. I am also fascinated with the 1976 live show where he sings You Take My Breath Away.
As a life-long fan of Freddie, to answer your question, it's mainly because bohemian rhapsody would always go on late or at the end of the shows. So, his voice was already strained by that time (normally about 2 hours into the show) and that's why he didn't do the falsetto all that often. Often times leaving the higher notes to Roger.
At the soundcheck, the sound tech used to ask how Freddie's voice was on that day. On good days, Freddie did the high notes himself (belting, most of the time, rarely falsetto). On days with more voice problems, they turned Roger's mike up for the high notes.
Freddie was the total package! The voice and his ability to command the stage and get 100% of the crowd to interact with him. There will never be another FREDDIE MERCURY!!!!
Hi from UK 🇬🇧. I’m fighting for my life right now and you have made my day. I’m a black Brit that grew up with Queen’s and Freddie’s music and the reactions I watch some are wonderful and some are just doing it from subscriptions and likes. You however have shown that you understand the symbiosis between the singing, lyrics, the passion and the music it’s self. So for you to show how much you love and admire one of my idols has warmed my heart 💖. Thank you.
Mick Mick Hey. Thank you so much for your concern. I was born with Sickle Cell Anaemia and I’m 45years old. So with age comes more difficulties. However thank God I’m British, the NHS is doing an amazing job. I’m under 7 different teams; 3 Medical teams and 4 Surgical teams. They are all amazing. I’ve made it this far so I’ll come through. Thank you so much for your concern and your reaching out with good will. I really appreciate that. On a different note; in my comment I meant Symbiosis instead of Symbols. A typo. These auto correct 😣🤬. Have a good end of the year and an amazing 2020.
I would watch every video if it has Freddie in it🙌🙌🙌. My all time favorite singer! So much talent even when he was sick and on his deathbed he was the best!! 💯💕. Beautiful natural talent 😍😍. He’s amazing and does his own thing!! Only Freddie can do Freddie 🔥🙏💕💯
The energy Freddie puts into his singing, I think he knows where to save energy and stress on his voice before a a section where his voice would be put under extreme pressure.
Dear Linor, I loved the original Queen, I saw them live at Wembley in 86, when Freddie walked on the stage the crowd went wild it was the most spectacular moment of my life.i love watching your videos, your professionalism is extraordinary, love watching your beautiful face and love it when you mimic Freddies body language. I would like to hear a bit more of your own singing to demonstrate your points. And would like to hear a tiny bit more explaining but I fully understand how you are blown away by singers like Freddie. Lots of love Toby
Freddie and Queen has been and continue to be the soundtrack to my life❤ And the first English words from my 2 year old son (I'm Norwegian) was "We will rock you"
Yes his singing techniques are astonishing, and it's super interesting to listen to your opinions. But one thing about Freddie is hard to analyze, it's how he put so much emotions in his voice. This is what makes it so attractive through the decades.

Thank you very much for this reaction. Since the first time You reacted to the queen, I've been waiting for a video like this. I hope You will react to the queen again in the next few months. Once again thank you it was wonderful😍
Freddie did "carry on! carry on~" at bohemian rhapsody, live newcastle 1979, live edinburgh 1982 and other lives.. He did that when his condition is great
Thing is with Freddie, he never really payed attention to his voice when he sang, that explains why live performances are very different from the studio version, he just go with the flow and let the body sing by itself, you notice that in the live aid performance that he's too preoccupied dancing, entertaining the crowd and thinking about what to do next to actually care how he's singing, and that's really the magic and why it's so clean most of the time, he had pure trust in his voice when performing so he was able to do whatever he wanted.
I mean what I really love its not enough your comments -which I share-, but the way you watch him, with that love and surrending to him, that I really feel when I listen and watch him ;)
I find it difficult to listen to short clips of Freddie. Queen's songs are too immersive to skip around like that. Linor, love your vibe and listening to your opinions.
I always enjoy listening to your videos and observations, you are fair in your criticisms and credits. I love how much emotion you get from hearing music that 'sings' to you. That, afterall, is what music is all about.
Amazing. Great voice. Consider that already in 1985 he suffered from lumps in the throat. Over the years the word has changed. Sorry for my English, I'm Italian.

nico merker Elvis wasn’t as good as Freddie

since 1985 more less Freddie started to be affected by throat issues in his vocals like laringitis . We can see your admiration and love for our dear Freddie .
well done, Freddie was always a great talent that could never be forgotten.
Love that cheeky little smile of yours
When Roger pops up
Yes, we are still looking for someone who can do what Freddie did, the types of songs he did is just mind blowing.
Khurmiful Marc Martel: Hold my beer...
Just continually getting chills listening to his voice
someone has a bit of a crush... ; )))
You absolutely HAVE to give your thoughts on his performance of White Queen from A Night At Oden - Hammersmith 1975. It gives my wife and I goosebumps every single time.
One of my favorite Queen performances
I just said that too! It's...breathtaking.
I want that played at my funeral.
Oh yes!!!
Yes! Probably my favorite performance of Freddie and Queen.
Michael DeFord
My absolute favorite. ♥️
It still brings tears to my eyes
I cry every time I listen to that song. Brian said that he was so sick that day, they asked him if he could record. He said something to the effect "Darling, of course I can" He had a shot, knowing Freddie a big shot, and did the vocals. I have nothing but love for Freddie!! ❤❤
He always makes you smile - brings you joy - and I get a sense that you're both studying critically and 'in school'. He's an experience...
Here 30 years later i still sometimes gets tears in my eyes when i listen to Freddie, guess it will never pass
I also think that he is much too young...when he died...but I personally think that he is perfectly infected...although someone will now claim that this is a conspiracy theory...but I personally think that someone was at work...and we all know exactly who that dick was...
Loved your reaction to Freddie; he really was one of a kind and irreplaceable.
Freddie on "full mode" singing who wants to live forever. It's great.
As someone mentioned below, exercises in free love. It was a demo for when he was working with Montsy.
We all know Freddie is LEGENDARY...
Linor is just so beautiful...🌹
I’m new to the party here...a vocalist still learning, at 57 years old. Love your reactions, observations, et al- learning from you already.......subtle things and compensating - I’ll be here.....🎼🎶❤️thanks!
The powerful song was Freddie singing Who wants to Live Forever, from the movie Highlander which Queen wrote and performed the score for. The version shown here was Wembley 1986, another great version was at Budapest in 86.
At times you appeared to be blushing ☺️ It’s okay... Freddie has a way of doing that 😉
He’s magnificent!
Oh Linor so so nice to see you respect and appreciate one of the best. RIP Freddie...
Linor, thank you, it is so amazing to see you holding on so professionally, where anyone would break down to tears. Thank you for telling what you think are the strong parts of Freddy's vocals and confirming some things that are mostly just a hunch to complete non-professionals.
'Save me' also my favourite. Freddie definitely the best singer ever, legend.. Gone too soon. R.i.p angel.
Please Please Please do it❤️
That's right . *Tana FORET* .. He said that he would perform songs a . Touch different.. each time.. usually unrehersed... Otherwise he would get board..
Love Of My Life us such a beautiful song... always onions...

Can you imagine if he had taken vocal lessons?...mind blowing ...💗💗 But he did what he did & made it unique &so theatrical a total performance.
Diane Fowler. 68 yrs young Diane..love watching Freddie..💕💕
You never heard of Freddie and Queen until now? You are slightly younger than Queen. Do you not listen to rock music back in the 70's and 80's?
He was a one off, unique performer. Never to be matched and I was lucky enough to see him live.
Freddie we miss you 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹Legend never die 🌺R.I.P 🙏🏻 The BEST!!!!!!!
Thank you.
Hoping you have a speedy recovery
You cannot help but fall in love with that voice when you hear it
I would watch every video if it has Freddie in it🙌🙌🙌.
His command over that audience in the "love of my life" segment is just astounding--65000 people at wembly stadium and everyone was doing his bidding
Freddie and Queen has been and continue to be the soundtrack to my life❤ And the first English words from my 2 year old son (I'm Norwegian) was "We will rock you"
Love watching your videos. So nice to find someone who is touched by his beautiful voice. His voice makes me emotional.
Thank you. ❤️
this is the first audio porn i have ever seen.
Sebastian Ruf: Omg exactly, the pretty voice teacher got hot for our Freddie!!
She is so right lol
Freddie himself told he was a "music prostitute" ^^
And indeed, he sang, he sang and he sang. For as long as his lungs could hold air, he sang.
I love this way of looking back and learn about it. I was already a big Freddy fan for years.
All eyes get wet -the indication for deep touch. You, me and all - fraternity of souls .
His voice and persona helped us believe that we could love each other!
Who Wants to Live Forever...powerful, gorgeous and so moving...everything about that song is breathtaking...you're vids are awesome btw!
Yes his singing techniques are astonishing, and it's super interesting to listen to your opinions. But one thing about Freddie is hard to analyze, it's how he put so much emotions in his voice. This is what makes it so attractive through the decades.
Dont forget you said you would do a Roger Taylor (drummer) voice reaction video special request reminder ;)

Ms. Oren,
your empathic ability to appreciate, and at the same time critique, an astonishing talent such as Freddie Mercury is imbued in your whole being.
Love it. Someone else commented on why he didn’t sing the high notes at times in another reaction and said that Freddie was saving his voice as he was belting out songs, giving it all he had for two hours a night, night after night... just another theory? ❤️Freddie❤️
Whether high or low or mid or growl, his voice was always sweet & melodius.amazing amazing singing, phenomena.its like an out of the world instrument which can sing(vocally) as well.a true rarity & always a treat to hear the fabulous singer FM.
Freddie and the band would perform songs live differently every time.
Thank you very much for this reaction. Since the first time You reacted to the queen, I've been waiting for a video like this. I hope You will react to the queen again in the next few months. Once again thank you it was wonderful😍
Freddie was special....The Best ever!!
Thank you for such an insight to an incredible vocalist.
Freddie did "carry on! carry on~" at bohemian rhapsody, live newcastle 1979, live edinburgh 1982 and other lives..
He did that when his condition is great
I enjoyed that so much Linor. Seeing your joy in it (as an expert) - for music I've loved for so long. Special :)

I really love this! I feel so empatic with you and your lectures of singing and particulary Freddie's singing. I send you a musical hug! Haha thanks
He was incredible. Tears and chills always.
I believe he avoided the falsetto to save his voice. The drummer, Roger Taylor sometimes took over sometimes to give him a break.
I love your reactions. Thank you and I hope for more!
You take my breath away - live at the hyde park...please!!!
This was wonderful, Linor. I know nothing about music or voice, but this was just lovely to watch. Thank you.
Always Love Your reactions, thank you Linor :-)
If 1979’s “Save Me” was a favorite (me too!), you’d love the full performance from 1981 in Montreal! He killed it that whole concert.
