Yes! He used to modify the melody a little bit when performing live, and this example is not different. I think the AOL Sessions live solo acoustic version of Like A Stone is one of his most moving performances. Highly recommended.
I second this! Nothing compares was a tribute to prince when he died and it brings me to tears everytime and I'd argue it's one of the very rare covers that are better than the original
Thanks for reacting to my favourite artist and song, I'm glad you enjoyed it. What is interesting is that with 3 of the original RATM (Rage Against the Machine) members in this band (Tim Commerford on bass, Brad Wilk on drums and Tom Morello on guitar), they had to learn how to play differently than they did with RATM. Tim Commerford has said Chris had such a melodic voice that they had to learn how to play around that. Hopefully you'll do a live version of this song now. Having seen Chris play live in an acoustic show, it really heightens your appreciation of his craft. Have a great day.
Audioslave did their debut on top of the marquee with Letterman in New York. Please react to the songs they performed at their debut. Chris's voice was wild.
This song and version by Audioslave is epic, but the version of Chris singing it solo with his guitar is transcendental…the first time I heard it I was shooting pool by myself on one of many sleepless nights and I had to stop shooting, stood next to the table, closed my eyes and just listened, with tears in my eyes. That’s how I felt it anyway. RIP Chris Cornell, legend, damn it I wish he had found a path to stay with us.
Jen, if you're looking for more Chris Cornell, one of the best for vocal performance is a live acoustic cover of Nothing Compares 2 U that he did for Sirius XM. The video's easy to find on youtube and it will blow you away.
My favorite male rock singer singing my favorite Audioslave song. Saw his solo tour (front row) about 18 months before his passing. He was so incredibly talented. Thanks for the react.
I really enjoyed this. I have listened to more Chris Cornell since you last shared him with us. His voice is so compelling, you can’t listen without feeling something. What a gift. Beyond his voice, musically the song also pulls the listener in as well. Love the groove. Ah, but I was laughing so hard at 4:23! I’m guessing this is one of those moments we all have where we say a word we’ve said thousands of times and in that moment it just sounds completely foreign? Like something’s not quite right. I LOVE that you left this in when editing. ❤
Great analysis, I love this group.. was a young teen when they released this album.. I don’t know anything about music.. so thank you for all the knowledge!!
Glad your a fan. Since you are, you owe it to yourself to hear him sing " When I'm down." Its a performance you will experience his talent with a piano and light band. Basically, it just him singing unbelievably unfamiliar. You"ll be amazed. One show was at the Troubadour in LA. Can't wait to see your reaction. David
Will you react to Slaves and Bulldozers by Soundgarden? Definitely a live version. It's my favorite song of all time and he's amazing on vocals. It's also the last song he performed in his life. RIP.
Good evening miss, Thank you very much for covering this epic masterpiece. What can one say about this phenomenal super group, aside from just that...they were super. Chris's vocals are sublime, the ease with which he turns on and off any of the multitude of vocal "toys" he is capable of is astounding. Absolutely one of the finest writers and singers of the era. He embodies so much raw emotion in his performances, it can be absolutely awe inspiring. Wonderful journey if you choose to follow more of Audioslaves catalog. I'd love to see you do Cochise or Set it off. Show me how to live or Be Yourself are also prime candidates. As always, wonderful video, thank you for your time and efforts to bring us a little happiness in our days!!
Cool reaction, Jen! From the same album ("Audioslave") there's a song called "Shadow On The Sun", which I highly recommend you treat yourself to. I don't think there's an official video in relation to that song, but it's a favourite of mine from the Audioslave catalogue, so enjoy it in your sparetime - it's gorgeous! ...
First of all I have just discovered your channel and am very happy that I did. I have enjoyed watching you cover Alice in chains and now Audioslave. I highly recommend you treat yourself to Soungarden and Chris's solo work. Chris Cornell is my favorite artist. I still listen to him everyday. There's so much to choose from. I do suggest you listen to Temple of the dog. Hunger Strike is always recommended but this album is full og great songs from beginning to end. It is Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam collaborating. They originally did this work of art on a beach after Chris lost one of his close friends Andy Wood from Motherbone. He passed away from a overdose. This album wasn't originally meant to be published and sold. But when the radio stations started playing hunger strike the fans went crazy. Therefore, they processed this album in a studio and it sold millions of copies. Thank you for your entertainment! Very enjoyable. 😊😊😊
I love this song, best song ever! It's a song that anybody can sing and it'll still b a great song... but it just so happened it was done perfectly the first time
Cochise by Audioslave is phenomenal too, very different from this and is an awesome vocal performance by Chris! Seriously, u should check out reacting to that classic!
Love it! Really would love to see the live acoustic version Sessions at AOL. His voice is so much better IMO. It’s just beautiful and so many more little technical things happening ❤😊
Temple of the Dog Hunger Strike is with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. Soundgarden has an extensive catalog with many options, Black Hole Sun, Outshined, Fell on Black Days, Burden in my Hand, SuperUnknown, Rusty Cage, the list goes on and on. Any day with Chris Cornell is a great day
Something to consider checking out is the Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder (pearl jam) collaboration called Temple of the Dog and the track is "Hunger Strike." Two unique grunge era icons just sound amazing together.
The video was produced by Oualid Mouaness, edited by Jim Rhoads and set in an old Spanish mansion in Silver Lake, Los Angeles where Jimi Hendrix once lived and wrote music in.
After being away for a week and a half, first video I hit is yours! Classic! The answer to your question is ABSOLUTELY! More, definitely. Back home now to heal up more on top of the healing I was already doing, so keep 'em coming! No matter what you hear, I'm not totally self-destructive. But yes, I'm probably the only doofus who ever broke their leg taking a leak... Gimme something to practice! Did you ever check out Jane Lui? Cheers!
I am 50 years old first song l heard from AUDIOSLAVE was "LIKE A STONE" . Not ashamed to say l cried when l found out about his death. I stil can not believe that someone with such talent and amazing life could have such an ending.
He struggled a bit with audioslave live due to the way he sings the songs, but their first live performance, letterman 2002, he performs very well. Would recommend ”gasoline” or ”cochise” from that performance
i loved listen to you analyze one of my favorite song! 1st i saw about you. i'm surprised you did not notice the different "sound effect" between when he sings sit and when he sings stand up .
As always a great breakdown. Chris was amazing, but his entire family was extremely talented. This is a bit outside the box, but I would love to see you breakdown a song from the band his brother and two sisters had back in the '90s; Inflatable Soule. I'm aware of a few live videos on YT, but I know album So Sad is the best representation available and is here to stream; Manta Ray, The Bear, and A Little Bit of Heaven are all great.
Jennifer! Well this is another new one for me. As I was listening I was trying to think who it reminded me of. 🤔 His vocal quality makes me think a bit of Nickelback. Listen to the first part of "How You Remind Me" and then listen to this guy's voice. Songs are different of course but I think this guy could step in for the lead and sing "How You Remind Me". Interesting song. Yes we could look at some more Audioslave. Great reaction and analysis as always Jennifer. 😊 And nice random piano note at 17:49 during the close. 😁
There are quite a few reaction videos to this song on UA-cam. It’s a fine, workmanlike track that’s never struck me as being very interesting or dynamic when compared to almost any other music involving Chris or the Rage guys. That guitar solo, though…yesssss
Chris Cornell was my favorite vocalist. If you ever can, check out 'Say Hello 2 Heaven' by Temple of the Dog. It's one of my favorite songs that Chris ever sang.
you can always listen to Chris's version of Nothing Compares 2 U, not at all like Sinéad O'Connor version... and the cello really adds to the stripped down sound.
No other alt-rock singer of the ’90s compared to Chris Cornell in terms of sheer vocal juice; you’d have to go back decades and/or dip into entirely different genres to find another powerhouse to be considered his peer.
The AOL sessions version with just him and his guitar is superb!
Yes! He used to modify the melody a little bit when performing live, and this example is not different. I think the AOL Sessions live solo acoustic version of Like A Stone is one of his most moving performances. Highly recommended.
He is even better when live 😎😉 try “Nothing compares to you” and “Billie Jean” live and acoustic versions 🙏🏻🥳
I second this. 'Nothing Compares 2 U' live, acoustic cover is incredibly amazing.
I second this! Nothing compares was a tribute to prince when he died and it brings me to tears everytime and I'd argue it's one of the very rare covers that are better than the original
@@scottbradley7631as someone wrote underneath that video:
Prince wrote it,
Sinead made it famous,
Chris made us feel it.
I do not second that. Now it is said!
Omg yes, "Billie Jean" the live performance version I heard was insanely mind blowing. I swear Chris had a magical voice, he is missed so much.
His solo acoustic performance of this song is outstanding.
I can't hear it without sobbing like a baby
Don't know from where these kinds of coaches come to judge a legendary singers vocal.
Fr
Thanks for reacting to my favourite artist and song, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Chris was also in Temple of the Dog. The Song "Hunger Strike" features Eddie Vetter Of Pearl Jam.

Outshined by Soundgarden is a must
Prime Chris Cornell
@Richard Harrold So Badmotorfinger is
Soundgarden Beyond the Wheel live, Chris's voice will melt your brain in that song!
Shes a actually the best vocal person I’ve heard analyzing rock music and grunge sound
So? it's just your opinion... dc actually.
My favorite male rock singer singing my favorite Audioslave song. Saw his solo tour (front row) about 18 months before his passing. He was so incredibly talented. Thanks for the react.
Chris Cornell is one of the reasons why I became a singer, my band is doing this as one of our cover songs.
Chris’s so fucking good. My favorite of all time. He’s so good.
I really enjoyed this. I have listened to more Chris Cornell since you last shared him with us. His voice is so compelling, you can’t listen without feeling something. What a gift. Beyond his voice, musically the song also pulls the listener in as well. Love the groove.

Ah good! I’m happy you have listened to more of Chris Cornell! Hahha and yes, sometimes I keep them in ahahah ❤️
Even though some of his songwriting was sad, I really appreciate his vocal talents
some...?^^
Great analysis, I love this group.. was a young teen when they released this album.. I don’t know anything about music.. so thank you for all the knowledge!!
One of my hero’s…..got me through a lot in the 90’s😢 RIP brother

I love all of "chris's' versions of this song because his voice and passion and ability to emote such strong emotion and the lyrics are brilliant!

The best grunge era singer. Miss him so much
I love this song, best song ever! It's a song that anybody can sing and it'll still b a great song... but it just so happened it was done perfectly the first time
Only CC could Sing It this way
Thank God he recorded this masterpiece it will live forever!

Definitely one of the best “like a stone” break down. Lookin for more 👏

Hi Jen. This is someone new for me. Good sound and style. Hope you are having a week!

Me too!
This is one of my favorite songs from audioslave

Check out "When I'm down", it has a jazz blues kind of feel.
Yes please, do the live acoustic version, him singing life is almost a mystic experience
Top 5 Best male singer of all time RIP Chris.
Great reaction! Please do Hunger Strike next for some early Vedder/Cornell brilliance
I am 50 years old first song l heard from AUDIOSLAVE was "LIKE A STONE" . Not ashamed to say l cried when l found out about his death. I stil can not believe that someone with such talent and amazing life could have such an ending.
He’s so good with his voice. Chris is the sweet I’ve ever heard. So funny clinging of phrase. He’s so good. He’s so fucking good..
Listen to "Slaves and Bulldozers, recorded version, when Chris was with Soundgarden. Just amazing.
He actually is singing live here. Its just completed with production
Audioslave - Show Me How to Live .....I would love to hear your reaction
14:00 she loved it when he hit those notes 😁
You need to watch his live acoustic performance of this!!
Chris Cornell’s Billie Jean cover live is a must; amazing performance
This song makes me cry.😢 It saddens me. It's heavy.
He struggled a bit with audioslave live due to the way he sings the songs, but their first live performance, letterman 2002, he performs very well. Would recommend ”gasoline” or ”cochise” from that performance

Great reaction Jen. You should definitely go ahead and do the acoustic version of this song from aol.
Thanks!
SAY HELLO 2 HEAVEN LIVE (BLACK AND WHITE), WILL BLOW YOUR MIND
if you want to see his blues/rock/jazzy voice in one song, listen to his song "When I'm Down". i hope you'll make that video.
Jennifer! Well this is another new one for me. As I was listening I was trying to think who it reminded me of. 🤔 His vocal quality makes me think a bit of Nickelback. Hahah the random piano note 🙈 thank you!
I didn't think about this song when I was watching Everything Everywhere. No spoilers, but watch that movie if you've never seen it.
No wants to leave…pretty and Smart…Quite lethal .Thank you…bless you
Cris Cornell + RATM ........
Simplemente maravilloso
The song is about waiting for death. Quite prophetic now that he’s gone. RIP Mr. Cornell
There are quite a few reaction videos to this song on UA-cam. It’s a fine, workmanlike track that’s never struck me as being very interesting or dynamic when compared to almost any other music involving Chris or the Rage guys.
That guitar solo, though…yesssss
You just got fucken crucified by listening to the most grunge demonic angelic vocals in history 🙌🏾
2024 - and I still miss Chris Cornell.
I know only this Song from Audioslave, but I love that one. It´s really good in my opinion
You know the song
which CC was talking to his own death
Oh please react to the live acoustic performance of this song, it's just something else!!
Chris Cornell was my favorite vocalist. If you ever can, check out 'Say Hello 2 Heaven' by Temple of the Dog. It's one of my favorite songs that Chris ever sang.
I love your Young Gun/Silver Fox Poster. Please review them!
you can always listen to Chris's version of Nothing Compares 2 U, not at all like Sinéad O'Connor version... and the cello really adds to the stripped down sound.
@Jennifer Glatzhofer you should react to Violet Orlandi's version of the song
Really enjoyed the video ❤❤❤❤
Such an amazing vocalist. Gone too soon
I will always be in love with someone I never met in the flesh. Thank you Chris for everything.
You should hear Temple of the Dog. Chris in his younger days. Say Hello to Heaven is a good one to play.
The one with him on gutair is a must reaction
Fun fact. His guitar player here is the guitarist for RAGE Against the machine.
So is his drummer and bassist
Excelente voz
Deberías de escuchar al vocalista del grupo MADRUGADA
Que voz tiene 👍
The acoustic version is fantastic use the one from the a o l sessions
A song about waiting for death. and now hes gone. RIP Chris.
Wandering ain't so sad as it seems.
Gotta check out Say Hello 2 Heaven live at the moore. Not a lot of recent reactions to it and its amazing
One of a kind
Check out some of Chris’s earlier work with soundgarden and temple of the dog. In particular hunger strike with Eddie vedder of Pearl Jam
Linda Ronstadt - La Charreada
Los Tigres del Norte - Somos Mas Americanos 🔥
The Avett Brothers - Ballad of Love and Hate (live)
this was awesome.. i gotta see you react to cochise by audioslave
The 25 seconds Scream!!
I encourage you to seek out his unplugged accoustic songs
More Chris Cornell? Yes!
No other alt-rock singer of the ’90s compared to Chris Cornell in terms of sheer vocal juice; you’d have to go back decades and/or dip into entirely different genres to find another powerhouse to be considered his peer.
Can you react to “when I’m down” by Chris Cornell please no one ever does and his vocals are magnificent in this song
I am the highway by Audioslave is a great song also.
No one sings like you anymore!!!!!! Soundgarden Badmotorfinger probably saved me as a teen! Chris Cornell is a legend!! RIP
Temple of the dog- say hello to heaven. A must react
