I only just recently realized how much I like the Vulture droid and its brethren: there's something delightfully creepy about an *intelligent* flying war machine that can also walk around on its own.
Those vulture droids look an awful lot like Cylon raiders in Battlestar Galactica! You wonder why the Empire didn't use droid fighters too, you can mass produce them more quickly than training a pilot.
Tri-Fighter, the best fighter. Seriously - there wasn't enough of them, they should stop building everything and just run tri-fighters, they were stunning.
But Tri Fighters are more Interceptors. They are excellent against other Fighters/Bombers but bad against larger Ships or ground Targets. Vulture Droid is more like an multirole Jet.
The walker mode on the Vulture droids looks really cool, but I never saw the point of it. Repulsorlift allows craft to hover, letting them move far faster and with more agility than turning into a walker. Especially when that walker is far less efficient than a dedicated walker, because a dedicated walker can be armoured more thickly because it doesn't need to fly and walk less awkwardly because it's legs aren't wings reconfigured into legs.
A lot of the Star Wars ships look like they were inspired by real world planes or, in the case of unmanned crafts, real world tools and appliances. However, the Belbullab-22 looks like an old roadster with the back end stripped down. A teeny bit like a 1930 Mercedes-Benz 'Count Trossi' SSK, if you pushed back the driver's seat and removed the rear wheels.
If we're including starfighters from allied planetary armies (such as the Geonosians), then the Umbaran Starfighter should be there too. It even has the Separatist colors and insignia.
0:48 Clearly the ubiquity of gravity manipulation in Star Wars makes inertial dampening a standard feature in any star fighter. But maybe a Vulture droid has, even more extreme maneuverability?
Didn't the vulture droids have a horrible battery life? I read or heard somewhere that they can only operate for 30 minutes before having to go back and recharge.
What about the umbaran starfighter? Since you included the geonosian starfighter, you should've included the umbaran one too. Umbara was also separatist and only umbarans knew how to fly it
Out of curiosity. If most of the larger battle stations crew were droids and very little were living humanoids, why were the hanger bays maintained with an oxygen environment? In Episode 3, one of the mechanisms was destroyed and the hanger began bleeding oxygen at a rapid pace before the hanger door shut. I have no idea why this came to mind, but watching this video and seeing the hanger deck made me think of this. Any suggestions or insight would be helpful. Thank you!
TheDarkWolf86 I would say because operating in the vacuum of space wouldn't be good for the droids. Even if possible for them to do so it's probably cheaper to pressurise the ship and maintain the ideal operating temperature than it would be to maintain the long term damage slowly building up due to cold and pressure damage.
Three ships I would have, vulture, tri and hyena bomber. I would use the vulture as a support fighter for the bombers while the tri fighters would do more offensive roles against other fighters
You know what always confused me? Why didn't the First Order, and by extension, Disney, implement some of this stuff into their ships? It would've been awesome to see a TIE fighter have its engines split apart to walk around like a vulture droid, and the toys would've flown off the shelves! (Pun not intended)
They're the same people that approved of a new and improved Star Destroyer as an old ISD with a gun stapled to the front. Creativity doesn't seem to get along with them.
Good video! I liked it. I do have one little bit of feedback though, perhaps a little bit of a separation between each section/ship would help the flow a little bit, the transition from one section to another is a little abrupt. Great video otherwise!
Hey Spacedock. I was thinking its often said how the vulture can perform manuevers that would kill an organic pilot yet since a lot of fighters employ inertial dampners wouldn't this advantage be nullified? Unless of course the dampnig system is taxing on the ships energy consumption.
The walking droid fighters are based on the walking Cylon raiders fighters in a Richard hatch produced fan film BSG reboot proposal video because Dough Chang was lazy
Completely irrelevant to the video but I love general grievous and the difference between how effective he was from both cartoon tv shows on him I simply like to believe the frost cartoon was at the beginning of the clone wars while the newer cartoon is mid to the end so I like to believe the battle on Courasant changes him one cause the assault failed and his rib cage was crushed by mace windu and I like to believe that’s why he appears so cautious and cowardly and is less effective in light savor duels in the second cartoon and also initially the Jedi weren’t used to his style of fighting but go used to him due to extensive use just voicing my opinion and want other people’s on this matter cause I love his character and his back story is so good what do you all think?
Alexander Volkov Well no Jedi could really stand against him in a fight except for Obi-Wan. And that's because Obi-Wan uses an extremely defence based form that allows him to withstand Greivous's attacks. And I think he seems so cautious in the cartoons is because we always see him go up against top tier Jedi. Whenever he's in a battle against normal generals he stomps them.
A little disappointing you didn't mention Ventress's Fanblade starfighter or the CIS fighters that were used to combat the Lok Revenants during the events of Star Wars Jedi Starfighter. Good vid nonetheless though.
CIS for life! In other words, I've come round to the Resistance bombers as the only option that could carry enough firepower for the task. Does anyone agree with me?

Can you do the rebels Fighters
“Track that Tri!”
The Hyena and Vulture droids reminds me of the Cylon Heavy, and normal Raiders respectively.
I don't remember you doing ARC-170 Starfighter, an icon of Clone Wars
"cathedral factories"
So warhammer
Ich Liebe den Magnaguard Starfighter!
Please make a video on the GR-75
Nah, save it for April Fools day
Three ships I would have, vulture, tri and hyena bomber. I would use the vulture as a support fighter for the bombers while the tri fighters would do more offensive roles against other fighters
I'm curious if Spacedock will ever consider making a summery of one of the ship types from Sword of the Stars.
@Spacedock What about the Mankvim interceptor? Were those ever even seen onscreen in ROTS?
1:15 i though he mentioned discord😂💀🗿🏴☠️
You need to do a video with the ships of the Exo Squad series.
Do more battle analysis
You missed the umbaran starfighters
Good job. Can you make a video on all of the Old Republic and Old Empire fighters. Thank.
Nice 1!!!!
A R T I L L E R Y O N L Y H O I 4 ?
We don't do that here.
Yes
A R T I L L E R Y O N L Y E M P I R E A T W A R?
They're all unmanned, except Porax-38, Nantex and Belbullab-22
Please do a video on mc 80 liberty cruiser
Now I can only see those vultures as being made by the cult mechanicus
You know what always confused me? Why didn't the First Order, and by extension, Disney, implement some of this stuff into their ships? It would've been awesome to see a TIE fighter have its engines split apart to walk around like a vulture droid, and the toys would've flown off the shelves! (Pun not intended)
They're the same people that approved of a new and improved Star Destroyer as an old ISD with a gun stapled to the front. Creativity doesn't seem to get along with them.
@@Lightscribe225 true, sadly
Yo dawg, i heared you liek droids. So we put droids in our droids.
I love the sepratest!!!!
i didn’t know the vulture droids were made by the micanicus
Good video!
What about ventreses ship ?
But which fighter spins the best?
I get the impression the CIS (I admit too not watching The Clone Wars series) was fairly small in flesh and blood people and used droids instead?
Always liked the sepritist ships
Something that struck me as weird is why would the CIS have manned craft when practically every combatant of the CIS we've seen were droids.
there were organic soldiers
Where are the engines on the hyena bombers, how does it fly?
So these things are made by Star Wars’ equivalent of the mechanicus?
Please make a short voice break after each ship it is confusing otherwise
more Firefly please
Inb4 in the movie at least one person says that the death star was an inside job.
the empire really did fail to learn the lessons of the clone wars.
CIS for life! In other words, I've come round to the Resistance bombers as the only option that could carry enough firepower for the task. Does anyone agree with me?
DrearyPlane8 Two words. Ion torpedoes
@@sebastiannelson6355 Ion torpedoes exist but it is unlikely a starfighter could carry enough to blow a capital ship.
You deserve way more subs! Nice video!
