I've never really given it too much thought before this, but I think the CIS fleet has got to be my favorite fleet in star wars. The specialization and ability to work together effectively makes the fleet as a whole a formidable enemy to face. While I personally dislike some of the ship designs, I just think they look weird, the combined power and might of the separatist navy makes for a terrifying and inspiring foe.
I personally love the Providence class destroyer. It's gotta be my favorite. The aesthetic of the almost beak- which was shown better with the dreadnaught style with the eyes- is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.
Yeah, it's strange that the Republic used what was effectively an escort carrier as their primary frontline warship. I would've liked to see a scaled up (2km+) version of the Venator that eschews a fighter compliment in favor of a more extensive and flexible weapons complement.
@@wargrizzero5158 The problem with the Imperial-class is that it still tries to hybridize the carrier and battleship roles. Sacrificing space for fighter hangers means you can't carry as many weapons.
Man, I love the Munificent. Cheap yet powerful in terms of frontal firepower that can easily rip apart stronger, bigger ships. And most importantly, aesthetically pleasing.
In the 05 SWBFII, I tend to fly my bomber from behind into the gap between the Munificent's armor plates and internal components. Bombs away with little to no resistance.
Only problem is that the Separatist Ships in that game are horribly in accurate structure wise. They have heavy turbolasers and point defense cannons located in that exact area.
A few oversights here and there. The Recusant posesses 11 Turbolasers of varying sizes, but it is armed with 102 Laser Cannons, so it's safe to assume that the Light Destroyer is more of a capital sized screening vessel, rather than a capital-killer. Similarly, the Munificent has 38 Point-Defense Laser Cannons, so I fail to see how these things are supposed to be unable to defend themselves against strike craft. The DH-Omni is also said to be equipped with a number of proton bombs. Lastly, not every Subjugator had Ion Pulse Cannons on their port and starboard sides, in fact the only other known vessel of the Subjugator-class than the Malevolence, the Devastation, had an experimental forward facing planet-killing weapon. I think it's fair to assume that every Subjugator-class Star Dreadnought was a unique design.
Man I do love Clone Wars era ships I would change the design to some of the ships for the separatist Fleet.Like for the Munificent frigate and the Recusant destroyer to have some point defense weapons. Only some for the frigate and more so for the destroyer.
@@chrissonofpear3657 starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Munificent-class_star_frigate it has in canon: 2 heavy turbo laser cannons (fixed front) 2 long range ion cannons (fixed front) 26 twin light turbo laser turrets (52 light turbo laser cannons), which are capable of limited point defense, effective against bombers another 20 mono light turbo laser turrets (for a total of 72 light turbo laser cannons) 38-40 (depending on the model) point defense twin light laser cannons (so around 80 light laser cannons for point defense) and 8-12 medium flak guns [specifically all-purpose mass driver cannons] (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Flak_gun) and an unknown number of ordinance launchers aswell as 48 vulture droids (carried and refueled under the outer hull layer, and cycled through a small hanger for repairs) and atleast 1 shuttle in said small hanger legends: the same but only 36 fighters, but 12 landing craft (and no ordinance launchers)
I’m just gonna be honest I think the subjugator would be a really good ship to fall in to rebel hands beside the massive size the troops and the power it would need it would be great for taking out entire fleets of the empires ships
And because the CIS has so much different ships, I love them even more. Some of them looks so nice. The best of course the Lucrehulk but I also like the frigate.
I have one complaint, it's small and very nitpicky. But some CIS ship classes sometimes carried fighters on their hull, allowing for quick deployment of vulture droid starfighters and hyena bombers. For the rest it's an awesome video, a very in-depth and detailed discription of the CIS fleet.
Gotta admire the work of the ship designers for the prequels and the Clone Wars cartoons. They created tonnes of new ships in new styles - everyone else got away with making ships that look like the original trilogy whether it was a video game taking place thousands of years earlier or they were Disney employees with nearly unlimited resources.
If you need footage for Star Wars videos, you should look at SW: Empire at War. It has an excellent cinematic camera, and with mods, it can have nearly any ship in the Star Wars universe.
I love the CIS they were a really cool faction in Star Wars also is there a chance we can get a video like this but for the Sith Navy from SWTOR and earlier?
Can't help but think that the light destroyer, with Moon-calamari tech (specifically shields) would have been something of an asset to the rebel alliance.
Has anyone ever noticed that the Rebellion and the CIS origin story are a little similar . One is lead by a aristocrat Mon Mothma and fighting is Luke Skywalker and Leia a force user. Combining all those roles is fallen Jedi aristocrat Count Dooku combining all those roles both sides have makeshift large ships meant originally to do civilian based activities modified into a fleet of war ships.
The problem of having a large compliment of varied in design, but limited in purpose ships is that you're simply more likely to end up having the wrong ship doing the wrong task at the wrong time. It takes far greater logistics and planning to make sure every ship gets deployed correctly in the correct situation. Yet, even still, in the chaos of battle, the situation may change and you may find that your current fleet composition of specialized ships is unsuited to the battle you are now facing. Though the individual ships themselves may be far more suited to their specialized tasks than more generalized ships, their mission profile is much lower. You may not always have need of specialized ships in one area, but may be heavily taxed on specialized ships of another area. Not only that, but in terms of production capacity, if you're devoting resources to specialized ships that simply aren't seeing much action at that moment in anticipation of their later use, or have a large number of specialized ships left over from battles you previously won but are now facing a different type of engagement to which they are not suited, a more general purpose enemy design may simply outnumber you in the field compared to the ships you *are* using. In this instance, the specialization of the CIS navy may have contributed to their loss in the war. You often see them caught off guard, and in rapidly changing circumstances to which the more reactive and flexible Republic navy was able to adapt to. Simply put, a specialized ship can win you the battle, but a general purpose ship can win you the war.
Kinda funny to think that the Malevolence absolutely dominated every fight it took part in, unsupported, yet when it was destroyed nobody sought to replace it
If I had a star wars fleet at my disposal, it would definitely have plenty of CIS warships: Munificent-class used as Cruisers, Providence-class carriers modified with larger hanger bays and carrying capacity, Recusant-class destroyers and Lucrehulk-class "Battelships" (the ones used in the late Clone Wars), along with plenty of droid fighter varients, whilst also having access to Hammerhead corvettes, Ardent-class frigates and maybe two Harrower-class dreadnoughts and manned starfighters. My flagship would definitely be a Subjugator-class, The Hierophant, exchanging the ion cannons for more turbolaser and laser cannon batteries, whilst also installing gravity well projectors similar to imperial Interdictors. The entire fleet is designed for each vessel to complement each of their strengths and weaknesses (no oversized vessels like executor-class or eclipse-class dreadnoughts).
No point in using Gravity Well generators if you can use gravity mines like they're installed on the Imperious-class. Also, what sort of fighters were you thinking of?
Starfighters would include a mix of droids and manned ships. Droid fighters would include Vulture-class starfighters, Hyena-class bombers, droid tri fighter interceptors and HMP droid gunships. Most of the manned ships would primarily be Morningstar-C and Dianoga-class Heavy Fighters. Others include PTB-625 Planetary Bombers, Belbullab-24 bombers and LAAT gunships. The idea being this is a mercenary faction that has scavenged and salvaged a majority of CIS ships and repurposed them, reprogramming droid control systems to defend the fleet and directed via communication arrays on most CIS starships, like a hive mind, whilst also having ships of their own from multiple factions to add to the fleet. Not supposed to be perfect, kind of a makeshift non-uniform fleet. Additionally, I had an idea of using a Trade Federation Superfreighter equipped with its own assortment of Scarab-class droid starfighters as a sort of mobile miniature base, dubbed "The Nest". Also, gravity mines sounds like a cheaper alternative to gravity wells, and could possibly be equipped to a few select ships as well as my flagship.
You'd think the Subjugator class would've been considered a success & possibly adopted by the Empire considering how it wiped out Republic fleets during the Clone Wars.
The CIS looks great on paper and in theory can outperform the Republic fleet, but it variety works against it. Their ships were so specialised that they had little use in other roles. The chances of having exactly the combination of vessels the admirals needed in any given situation were remote. Ships were often pressed into roles they weren’t suited for to cover. Supply chains also suffer as maintaining a wide variety of ships and crews is harder. The republic by comparison churned out two or three capital ship designs at any given moment. While not as impressive the commanders knew they had some capacity to fight in any given role and the Republic navy soon out grew the CIS on every front.

Long live the CIS

I've never really given it too much thought before this, but I think the CIS fleet has got to be my favorite fleet in star wars. The specialization and ability to work together effectively makes the fleet as a whole a formidable enemy to face. While I personally dislike some of the ship designs, I just think they look weird, the combined power and might of the separatist navy makes for a terrifying and inspiring foe.
I thinks it is the best fleet in all of star wars because every ship is has it own purposes and can fight with diffrent types of enemies.
Concise
Straight to the point
Great delivery
I enjoy Spacedock!
I personally love the Providence class destroyer. It's gotta be my favorite. The aesthetic of the almost beak- which was shown better with the dreadnaught style with the eyes- is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.
only the Confederacy has a dedicated carrier for fleet operations.
Yeah, it's strange that the Republic used what was effectively an escort carrier as their primary frontline warship. I would've liked to see a scaled up (2km+) version of the Venator that eschews a fighter compliment in favor of a more extensive and flexible weapons complement.
The Venator Star Destroyer would like to have a word with you.
@@TruePacifist201 you mean the Imperial Class Star Destroyer?
@@wargrizzero5158 The problem with the Imperial-class is that it still tries to hybridize the carrier and battleship roles. Sacrificing space for fighter hangers means you can't carry as many weapons.
@@TruePacifist201 You mean the Tector-class Star Destroyer?
I love all the CIS ships your doing
Man, I love the Munificent. Cheap yet powerful in terms of frontal firepower that can easily rip apart stronger, bigger ships. And most importantly, aesthetically pleasing.
In the 05 SWBFII, I tend to fly my bomber from behind into the gap between the Munificent's armor plates and internal components. Bombs away with little to no resistance.
Only problem is that the Separatist Ships in that game are horribly in accurate structure wise. They have heavy turbolasers and point defense cannons located in that exact area.
These have got to be some of my favorite capital ship designs in all Star Wars.
Yeah boy, some CIS love...
I’m sexually attracted to the providence class
You have good taste.
I’m emotionally attracted to the MC85 star cruiser idk why
Same...
WOAH!
This has got to be the coolest video you have ever done and I mean you have done a bunch of Awesome videos but this one was just so amazing
Man I do love Clone Wars era ships I would change the design to some of the ships for the separatist Fleet.Like for the Munificent frigate and the Recusant destroyer to have some point defense weapons. Only some for the frigate and more so for the destroyer.
The Munificent has 38 point defense weapons, and the Recusant has 60 point defense weapons
@@michaelhanson8296 something a bit more effective against Fighters it doesn't have to be amazing just slightly better
The Munificent does seem to have more heavy guns, outside of just the super heavy barrels.
@@chrissonofpear3657 starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Munificent-class_star_frigate
it has in canon:
2 heavy turbo laser cannons (fixed front)
2 long range ion cannons (fixed front)
26 twin light turbo laser turrets (52 light turbo laser cannons), which are capable of limited point defense, effective against bombers
another 20 mono light turbo laser turrets (for a total of 72 light turbo laser cannons)
38-40 (depending on the model) point defense twin light laser cannons (so around 80 light laser cannons for point defense)
and 8-12 medium flak guns [specifically all-purpose mass driver cannons] (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Flak_gun)
and an unknown number of ordinance launchers
aswell as 48 vulture droids (carried and refueled under the outer hull layer, and cycled through a small hanger for repairs)
and atleast 1 shuttle in said small hanger
legends:
the same but only 36 fighters, but 12 landing craft (and no ordinance launchers)
I’m just gonna be honest I think the subjugator would be a really good ship to fall in to rebel hands beside the massive size the troops and the power it would need it would be great for taking out entire fleets of the empires ships
I've been binging the channel for the last two days.
And because the CIS has so much different ships, I love them even more. Some of them looks so nice. The best of course the Lucrehulk but I also like the frigate.
the repair and maintenance logistics in the cis fleet would have been a nightmare.
when talking about Subjugator-class heavy cruiser other than the malevolence there was a second design that produced her sister ship the Devastation.
Recusant is by far my most favourite of the CIS ships.
I love these CIS videos you make man! Can you do one on the Separatist Council?
I love the aesthetic and the style of the CIS
I do love the Lukrehulk, such a magnificent mobile fortress.
You should do:
Battleship Halberd
Great Fox
Arwing
Long live to the Confedeacy of Independent Sistems
The munificent does carry a fighter compliment
great work
Can you do videos about the warships and starfighters of the Galactic Republic ?
The Lucrehulk is the ultimate ship carrier!
Can you maybe do a series on the Honorverse ships?
CIS designers: what types should we use?
Grevious: Y- * cough cough - Yes
The Providence dreadnought will always be my favourite
when he said at about 1:00 that the ship carried arms I thought, so that is what happens to your arm when it is cut off.
The CIS are one of my favourite that is only rivaled by the Galactic empire.
The Munificent is arguably my favorite design in Star Wars and I wish there was merch of it. lol
If you need footage for Star Wars videos, you should look at SW: Empire at War. It has an excellent cinematic camera, and with mods, it can have nearly any ship in the Star Wars universe.
I really hope Lego makes an Ultimate Collectors Lucrehulk
I hope so as well. Ive always wanted it
I love the CIS they were a really cool faction in Star Wars also is there a chance we can get a video like this but for the Sith Navy from SWTOR and earlier?
Can't help but think that the light destroyer, with Moon-calamari tech (specifically shields) would have been something of an asset to the rebel alliance.
Fun fact: the subjugator-class and the episodes focused on it were inspired by the Nazi Bismarck-class battleship
Recusant is my fav ship.
You forgot gozanti cruisers, they were part of the navy but were mostly used as civilian ships
It’s 9:45 PM, I should be sleeping, but instead I’m studying the CIS
The DH-omi looks like a hellfire droid tank. But more spacey
The terror of the void, the Malevolence and CIS marins!
(bismarck from sabaton reference😋)
I fucking love the Prequel era, it's so awesome
The Oni-Class would be an excellent cargo ship and the Providence-Class has been a favorite of mine among the CIS ships for it is a beauty.
Do space ball 1/mega maid from spaceballs
You do great work
The problem of having a large compliment of varied in design, but limited in purpose ships is that you're simply more likely to end up having the wrong ship doing the wrong task at the wrong time.
Cis had the best navy hands down. also they actually had sizable weaponry that can engage at any angle not just beside or above
I was just looking for info on the confederate fleet for the republic!
keep these up
The FreeDac were the mon calamaris right who later became the main manufacturer of Rebel Mon Cal cruisers
2:55-3:41 you may like Vyyker's Labs 13, then
New order: “Sink Malevolance”
The providence is one of my favorite ships in star wars
I am all for the republic but i like looking at all their different ships.
CIS fleet has to be my favorite fleet in Star Wars. Though aren’t there 2 variants of the Recusant class?
I know this is a different subject, but I have a question about The Sojourn: Will us fans be able to write fan-stories set in the Sojourn universe and will such works have the opportunity to become cannon if you like them.
That supply ship, they could have made that a carrier or even a weapons platform for planetary bombardment.
I was operating under the impression that the Recusant was a Mon Calamari ship.
