Same here. I’ve given on the gofundme sight but also want to watch her videos both to help her/their channel but also because we’re going to be doing a bunch of canning hopefully this year with a larger garden.
I'm new here too. I wonder if Tattler would be sweet and send her lids, enough to make her dream amount be true. My heart broke when I heard from one of my other channels what happened to this family.
I didn’t know these existed thanks. Of course I wasn’t aware of your channel until 2-3 days ago. My condolences on your loss of your husband. You are in my prayers.
I have had 2 boxes of Tattler that I have not even opened because I didnt know how to use them, see comments they dont work or see videos where they open the canner to a busted jar. Thank you so much for showing the right way. Your way to make the potatoes with the soup mix looks very good. Prayers to your family as you go through this time of grief.
I also homeschooled my son thru highschool who is now entering the last semester of his senior year at university as a standout student with a 4.0 gpa...so, homeschooling works as it is definately worth the effort for you concerned parents out there!
You're such an inspiration! I love the idea of using reusable lids. May God continue to heal your mind, body and soul, child of God. May you feel, see and hear restoration in both your children and yourself in the days yet to come.
I am SO impressed with your videos! It’s amazing how organized you are and how smoothly the videos flow. So packed with information. I can’t even imagine how long it takes to prepare to film and then edit. Excellent job!
First of all I want to say that I hope you and your children are doing better. I think about you and your children often and when I do I ask God to help and bless you and your children. I have been watching your videos for awhile and just love them and you. My husband pulled up some beautiful Yukon gold potatoes yesterday. So I canned them with your recipe and they came out beautiful. I canned 5 quarts, this is the only way I will ever can potatoes again. You are a beautiful lady and I love your videos. God Bless you and your children and surround you with his love.
I used my Tattlers for the first time yesterday on some bone broth. I only had two that didn’t seal. I’ve never been so proud of a canning session!! Thank you so much for introducing me to these and for your demonstration of use. Your videos are so great in that you go through everything step-by-step, it makes learning very easy. ❤️
This was wonderful. I'm going to do potatoes right now. The pototoes were on sale for $1.49 for 5lb bag. So I purchased a few. Yaaaaa. Starting to peel. Thank you. I hope you are feeling a little bit better today. One day at a time. I'll be praying for you. G-D Bless.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial about canning potatoes. I have only canned for one year and was very happy to find such an in depth, concise and very nice video production. Your personality is so kind and caring, thank you again.
I can in water and open up a jar and make a little potato salad. It is fantastic and you would never know that the potatoes came out of a jar. Heather is such a wonderful teacher
Tattler lids are still owned by Loren Stieg & he's always owned the company. Harvest Guard is owned by Loren's son, Brad Stieg. Brad used to be part of the Tattler company, Brad & Loren disagreed on business decisions so Brad sold out his share. After his non compete clause ran out he started Harvest Guard.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 To FINALLY get the real facts! I appreciate you sharing that so much. Sad about the situation. 🥺 But so happy to get clarification on this. Thank you!🥰
I am sorry for the hurt you are experiencing. I have only seen a couple of your videos. They are informative and encouraging. Love this video on reusable canning lids.
Heather you're so kind to give credit to other UA-camrs, but I've learned more from you than any one else. You are so thorough and go over every single step - which is how I learn. I really appreciate how you teach. :)
I like to give credit where credit is due. this community works together as much as possible to help lift one another up. ❤️ i really appreciate your kind words. thank you. very humbling. 🥰
Thank you for this very informative video. As a newbie canner, you make me excited to try more things. I appreciate you adding the information on how you store them. Thank you again.
Thank you for the Shout Out... Big hugs ... Okay I love that you cut your potato's in bite size chunks.. I have not tried the Onion Soup mix. OMG Sounds amazing.. I think the jars look so pretty with the onion soup mix in it.. Bet it taste yummy too. I am excited to my Tattler E-Z Seal lids I have not tried them yet.. Have done a ton of research on them.. Like you I am not a person for keeping rusty rings.. "I don't want to risk having rust in my food." The end product looks so pretty.. Thank you for sharing on how to use the Tattler Lids.. Take care Big hugs .... :")
Why did she say she wasn't going to use these lids for chicken? I'm a torn on using them because they are plastic but buying one use lids is killing me. What made her decide to use these this for veggies but not meat?
As for me because of things I have watched and read and researched, I use Weck Jars for my canning only. I use Ball jars for dehydrated food or food that can be stored without heating up at all such as salt and spices. BPA free doesn't, to me, mean safer. I realize that getting away from plastic is hard, but i keep trying.
Love my tattler been using them a year now. You can write on them with sharpie and use denture tablets to clean them. Really good for getting stains off.
Thank you for the info! I ordered 24 dozen Tattler lids a week ago. I'm just not happy with the "new" Ball metal lids, with a suggested storage life of only 18 months. They are thinner metal, and the "rubber" sealing gasket in them is clearly not as robust as the old Ball lids. I appreciate your four year and ongoing experiment with the Tattler lid. I have a similar (accidental) experiment with the old Ball lids, as a box of full jars ended up in the back of the wrong shelf. These jars were canned in 1999 with the old Ball lids and are ALL still intact! There are jars with tomatoes, green beans, and venison chunks still perfectly sealed and looking good! I don't believe the newer lids can come close to this and am excited about the Tattler lids.
Thank you, just got my first tattler lids. After watching your video you confirmed my suspicions that they are just like the old fashioned method used with rubber rings and glass discs which is how I learned to can with. Thank you for also bringing up the cross contamination thought about using the plastic discs on meat. I agree, I’d be hesitant too.
I just did my very first pressure cooker All American 930 and first time Tattler lids on your onion broth and a few fresh green beans. 2 broth 1 green bean jar didn't seal but I'm sure it was my pressure of ring going into the process. Thank you for the time of sharing this talent of home preservation! 🤓
Heather, FYI the Harvest Guard lids come in white and red so if you are weird about using yours for meats you might be able to have designated red lids for meats so you know which is which. I haven't canned meat yet but that is what I was considering. Based on the material they are made from I can't imagine it would be any less safe than storing meat in plastic Tupperware type containers and then reusing them or cooking meat in microwave bowls that are reusable. Just my thoughts.
Thank you so much for explaining the tattler lids. You do such a great job in your videos. You don’t waste a lot of time talking about nonsense. Thank you and God bless you
Tattler should be grateful to you for this demo. I have been a die hard metal user for thirty years. However, you have changed my mind and I will now be ordering several dozen to give them a shot. TY for bringing me along on your potato adventure. The results of your work were absolutely beautiful. Your family is very fortunate.
Those potatoes looked so good in that jar! I knew I had to try to make them. I never buy or eat canned potatoes but I bet I'd love them this this way!!!!
Do I have to pressure cook and or can I just use a water bath to can my potatoes. Love the onion soup liquid idea..what a game changer for full flavor and for veggies like carrots, green beans, meat patties, chicken too. Great video. Thanks for the ideas as I’ve never done potatoes before, but sure will this year 👍🏼💫🇺🇸
Thank you so much for explaining how to use the tattler lids. I have a lot of them that are just sitting in my canning room because I'm afraid to use them. With your explanation I think I'm going to give them a try. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us.
I could watch you do this all day haha it is so satisfying😁 It does make me want those lids bad, so I will try to get some. Thanks for sharing this with us. God bless!
This was very informative, thank you. I just started using Tatler lids this summer. The many tips you've shared are answers to questions I have. I'm even more confident that I'll love Tatler more each time I use them. I didn't know that the rings should be tightened after processing.
Definitely going to check these out, thanks for sharing, I thought you might be interested in whipperwill hollar homestead. Miss Lori has a recipe for making your own onion soup mix and its amazing.
Miss Lori is amazing! Love her and all her recipes r down home cooked simple but delicious! Also she has a lot of canning recipes that she explains every step and is very informative! She is an amazing ,Godly woman! Check out her channel and I’m sure you’ll love her too! Blessings!❤️
I heard that very brief sigh of disappointment that you'd "rushed" it. How delightful to watch a real video where the creator didn't pretend that things don't go wrong! it's perfect.
I have been using Tattlers for about 1-2 years now. I do my canning batches 3/4 metal lids and 1/4 Tattler lids just in case of failure. I have learned the hard way not to tighten the lid too tight on the Tattlers as I had a couple come out of the canner with the lids "bowed" or domed upwards because they didn't vent. Threw those lids out and refrigerated those jars to use first.
Yes, I am very interested in the test comparison on the various lids. I too am having a hard time finding lids. I thought it was just me, but I have recently found that this problem is all accros the US.
Yes, please do a lid unboxing video. I have some tattlers, but have been freaked out about using them. Just for your own info, was at Country view on Monday, lid sleeves are up to .29 cents a lid, you got the last of the good deals😋.. this video was a great help, thank you! Gonna watch your all American canner one next. I was given,an unexpected blessing, from my mom, a check to purchase the 930 All American, won't be here till December, but am super excited, and again intimidated, lol. Would love to meet you, when you go to Countryview, in Snover, again. Their little diner has good food. I'm only about 25 minutes from there! Thanks again!!!
After seeing you use the kettle, I finally added one to my canning tools. Found a lovely Cuisinart kettle at Costco and it looks pretty enough to leave on my counter. And tonight I have ordered my first Tattlers. Should have done it long ago, my mom used them, too.
I find that when I can potatoes or just about anything. I add potatoes to about 1/2 way and debubble. Then finish filling and debubble. Easier than trying to do a fully packed jar. When I do chicken thighs, I debubble after adding first one.
I'm waiting for my first delivery of tattler lids. Purchased after the last video you did on them. They put me on a waiting list. Had to pay extra postage for shipping but I think it's a good investment. Also ordered Harvest Guard lids. Thise are supposed to arrive in 2 to 4 weeks.
Yes I would love to see the unbound video. Thank you so much for demonstrating finger tight. I was so worried about that one. Great info on storing lids and rings also. Thank you so much. Angels among us! ♡♡♡
I am so glad you made this video. First of all I’ve never use them I just thank God knew about them! People are upset about not having enough canning supplies. But they don’t know anything about tattler lids.
I had quit trying to use my tattlers because I had too many fails...but I was putting the gasket and lid on separately. I will try your method of putting them together before you put them in boiling water...I hope that will solve my problem because I really do want to use them! Thanks for this video!
Another great video, Heather ❤️ Thank you for all the information and yes please, do make the comparison video you mention. These days you need to know all your options 👍
Was at Menards in Elkhart today. They had about 15 cases of quart jars. Regular lids. Jars by anchor hocking. Keep hunting for jars. I needed wide mouth pints. Just sharing with the homesteading community. Good luck. September 3,2020
Thank you so much for all this info. I sincerely appreciate how you take your time and explain everything. -- Toward the end of this vlog you talked about not liking to put labels on your jars, and we have that in common. A TIP: I found that my canning pantry does not have tons of new addition items and I keep a pretty BIG pantry. With that said what I found SUPER easy for me to keep organized is good old masking tape. I write the names of the items on the tape and then place that on the front (facing) part of the shelves. My jars and items are then placed in rows and are rotated back to front and as I put new items in I place them in the back and pull from the front. Simple TIP but it will save writing labels on your jars and I hope it helps. BIG HUGS and thank you again. *runs to find a local location that sells Tattler lids* hehehe :)
Heather. The onion soup mix is genius! Everyone loves roasted taters, carrots and mushrooms! Yumm! I thought tatler lids would be much more complicated! I don't see the pull tab you showed in another video. Thanks for another great inspiring and informative video!
Hi, your forgiven always, also. You always make me want to can something. We did potatoes with peppers and garlic this year. A lady came over . She asked Why on earth would I bother to can potatoes! 🙄❤ I just smiled. Yeah for Paul!
Just found your channel. This was very helpful to learn about tattler lids. Definitely something to think about going forward with canning lids shortages now.
New to Kneady Homestead . Watching past videos in hopes to help Heather and the kids. Our heart is broken for them and our prayers are with them.

Thanks for sharing! I'm new to canning and doing my research before I actually can anything. Lots to learn!
Watching and lifting prayers.

Also ordered Harvest Guard lids. Thise are supposed to arrive in 2 to 4 weeks.
Thank you for the rattler and potatoes canning information.
Yes I would love to see the unbound video.
Thank you so much for demonstrating finger tight. I was so worried about that one. Great info on storing lids and rings also. Thank you so much. Angels among us! ♡♡♡
finger tight can mean different things to different people! haha
Thanks for explaining the Tattler.
you are so welcome, juls!
Thank you, Heather. This has been very helpful and I appreciate the tutorial. Blessings, sweet lady!
♥🙂
Nice video, Heather! I'd love to see some kind of comparison between the two brands of lids. Thanks for all you do. xoxo
I’m excited to see your video with Paul! A comparison of the two reusable lids would be great. I’m trying to decide which to order.
Was at Menards in Elkhart today. They had about 15 cases of quart jars. Regular lids. Jars by anchor hocking. Keep hunting for jars. I needed wide mouth pints. Just sharing with the homesteading community. Good luck. September 3,2020
NICE! thanks for that heads up!
*runs to find a local location that sells Tattler lids* hehehe :)
awesome tip. do you place the date on the actual jar anywhere of when you canned it?
Heather. The onion soup mix is genius! Everyone loves roasted taters, carrots and mushrooms! Yumm!
I thought tatler lids would be much more complicated! I don't see the pull tab you showed in another video. Thanks for another great inspiring and informative video!
I really enjoyed seeing you can the potatoes I am thinking of getting tattlers
Hi, your forgiven always, also. You always make me want to can something. We did potatoes with peppers and garlic this year. A lady came over . She asked Why on earth would I bother to can potatoes! 🙄❤ I just smiled. Yeah for Paul!
hahaha some people are so limited with their views and visions. it's a shame. keep canning taters! lol
Just found your channel. This was very helpful to learn about tattler lids. Definitely something to think about going forward with canning lids shortages now.
