- Our Yoga For Weight Loss series continues with this 31-minute warming practice that invites you to focus on the power of thought as you build strength and awareness in the arms and abdominals.
In this practice, I invite you to work with the body rather than on the body.
With a focus on upper body strength, waking up the abdominal wall, and bringing some energy to the third chakra - the power center, we’ll also check in with the attitude that surrounds how we feel about our bodies. This sequence will have you stepping off your mat feeling your best, physically AND mentally.

My girlfriend showed me yoga with Adriene a year ago and, without planning it, I’ve done yoga every day since. It has changed my life. I was able to quit drinking, lose weight healthily and calm down my nervous system. I have tourette’s, and like how stutterers don’t stutter when they sing, I don’t tic when I’m doing yoga. It puts my body in flow. Believe Adriene when she says trust the video and trust yourself. I gave up all my expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I hope everyone finds what they’re looking for through their yoga practice. I know it’s possible. Blessings to all ✌️

Honestly, Adriene does more for my self-esteem than basically anybody else, because she helps me appreciate my body with all its flaws, compliments me on my best efforts even when I can't get the pose exactly right, and tells me to tell myself positive thoughts. Thank you!

One of my favorites! A request: I would love to do more sequences like this, with the same total body / attitude awareness, but with exercices that are even more challenging for the body! A series of 'Intermediate / Challenging Yoga with Adriene' could be a great success!

UPDATE: I've been doing YWA every day since being in isolation lockdown (3 weeks so far).. and I came back to this one today.. and I can't believe how much easier I found it.. the strength I've built in such a short amount of time.. I rocked my self off the mat, I swore., I laughed ridiculously hard, I found weak points that needed love. This was so much fun especially during lockdown.
@@catscorner8 I have also been doing YWA every day of lockdown. It's been 2 months and one day! I had the same experience, the first video I did left me sore for a few days, and when I returned to it a month later it was so much easier! Stay safe out there

The tension in my heart is also in my body. Dedicating my morning yoga this month to America’s black community. It made steeple grip feel intense. Thank you so much Adriene 🙏🏼

Move Day 10: Today lifted a leg up when doing side plank. That's something I used to see others do in Power Yoga classes, but I would find it too difficult. Today I did it!

Getting started on this September calendar a lil' late, but this morning's session was great. I'm still a beginner, big guy, 6'3", 290 lbs 45y/o. That's for the those peeps around my numbers just wondering if they can do it. It's a long game, so just do what you can. Adriene has a great teaching style, no pressure. We'll get there... Hi Adriene. I'm a 36 year old guy. Last night started a 60 day exercise routine and the instructor said find a basic yoga routine online and do about 20 mins a day. Having never done yoga before I didn't know where to start. So I UA-cam searched and found your video 'beginners yoga 20 minute workout' and did that last night. Tonight inquisitively I decided to check this one out, and kept up with it. I am going to stick with this one. You are amazing and have great energy. Thanks for your content and helping people like me. Greetings from the UK. I feel great having just finished this video, it really hits muscle groups that I thought were strong but are actually very weak, in some of these poses! Perfect conditioning for the body. Namaste!
One of the most important lessons I've learned from practicing with Adriene is that if I am consistent, poses I could not do before mysteriously, wonderfully, become available to me. A few months ago I could not do the toe stand, tonight my body just...did it. I love you Adriene and I love practicing with this community. Namaste!
I don't usually have time to practice in the morning but today I made an exception because I should get my COVID vaccine in a couple of hours so I figured doing this later in the day wouldn't be the best idea :-D Anyway I am incredibly surprised how ready I feel to approach the whole rest of this beautiful day! May this practice do the same for the rest of you too
FYI, I did practice earlier this week after my covid shot and I'm convinced it helped with the arm soreness. Everyone's different, of course, but I felt better.

They used to be so easy for me, but then stopped doing yoga for 6 months. when I restarted my practice a month ago, i found myself unsteady, heavy and stiff while doing side planks. Your comment gives me hope I'll find that groove again 🌻✨

I'm always surprised by how every practice ends up feeling pesonally created for me and my body haha. Like...how do you know me so well lol?! I'm a dancer struggeling with loving my body, focusing on the process rather than result, my ATTITUDE, "looking in the mirror and not knowing who I'm looking at". UGH. I have to say I appreciate so much the way Adrianne talks about our bodies when doing weight loss yoga. She knows many are coming to this video from a place of feeling lack or dislike or hatred towards their bodies. Without pushing it, she is just reminding us to be kind to ourselves. It genuinely means a lot to me.
Today was the first day of my period and i had BAD cramps. I was supposed to do this practice in the morning but pushed it to 10pm. Im so beyond proud of myself for doing this practice though, as it helped me not only physically, but mentally. Thank you Adriene, benji and this incredible community for keeping me healthy and sane
Have been practising with Adriene on and off, almost every day, but today I decided to join the COURAGE month and commit to every day! What a spicy start it was, yummy!!! So grateful for these videos, this community, this wonderful teacher in more than just yoga.... I'm definitely finding what feels good.

I believe it’s so important to do these attitude practices even when you’re in the worst of moods and just don’t feel like it. It didn’t magically improve my mood this time, but it allowed me to be frustrated and see how that affects my practice, as well as let me cry it all out so I can move forward with my day feeling a bit lighter, as well as left me with sore arms 😂❤️
last time i did this practice a few months ago, i couldn't do the side planks for more than a moment and simply had to do my best. now, about 9 months into yoga as a daily practice, i could do them the whole time! still no modifications, but i'll get there in time. for today, i'm very proud of how far i've come. :)
Wow that felt alot more intense, today then it should have. Today I'm not feeling my best, I've got my Fibromyalgia acting up as it does. My shoulders, and lower back hurt like hell, but even so I persisted with my daily yoga with Adriene. I had to pause the video a couple of times to rest, and get my breath back, but I did it. I feel so good that I did it. Today's practice has helped my pain in one way, and I do feel stronger, but now I'm gonna do a slightly gentler practice, and cool it down. Thank you so much Adriene & Benji, for always being there for me. Love you both, see you again tomorrow, with me hopefully feeling a little more myself. 💕 Namaste 🙏🧡
I’m so glad you called this month COURAGE. I am relatively new to yoga (47 days in) and I thought there was no way I could do this “ass-kicking” month. I considered finding a different 30 day focus. I decided to have COURAGE and just try. I did it. It wasn’t pretty, but I did it. Looking forward to challenging my self the next 29 days.
39 days of yoga for me today! I was feeling super down, this video made me feel amazing! At the beginning of the video I wasn't able to get myself into that ball squat pose, but at the end I could! I love you dude! Have a great day

I started this morning on the wrong side of the bed and had a mind full of negative self talk and bitterness so I decided to get on and do one of Adriene's videos. By the end of the video I feel centered, more positive, and I don't feel a shred of that negativity I woke up with. Yoga is playing such a huge role in my mental and emotional health and I cannot thank Adriene enough.

I started following your yoga channel back in 2016 and really got into daily yoga again last year. Love all your videos but this one in particular was a lovely one! I had the worst sluggish day today and wasn’t in the mood to do yoga, let alone a core workout. So I made this commitment to follow your monthly yoga calendars and so I had to do todays one. I even thought about swapping it with the meditation one that’s how bad my day was going and this seemed intimidating. I am so happy I did it. I feel a lot more energized and it wasn’t that bad. I was fully committed and did full planks the entire practice and I just want to say thank you! I never comment but todays practice was lovely! Thank you for your time and commitment, both you and your team! ❤
Good morning, afternoon and evening YWA friends. Who is still breathing? moving?
This one really can take you to your edge. I know it did for me. I had to ease up a couple times but right now, I feel quite good. I do have a question that perhaps someone can answer. I noticed bumps appear on each of my ankles. I think they are actually blood vessels. They only seem pronounced while standing. Right now, sitting, I do not see or feel them. However, having just stood up to check, I can see and feel them again, although less so than while we were practicing. Any idea what that is? What causes that?

Can’t believe how much I loved this one today. My abs are sore from yesterday’s video so I stayed multiple beats behind Adriene the whole time to ease into everything and modify where it felt right. Moving from “Home” straight into “Courage” - thank you Adriene - you’ve helped me establish a daily yoga habit - feel so more connected
I love how you added the "attitude" element into the workout. The idea of working with the body instead of on the body makes me feel like I'm in a relationship with my body instead of at war with it. I have started to admire it's strength and even though I'm not at my fitness goals I can still admire it for what it is.
Honour your body was what I have been needing to hear. And it made me realise that it's my body and its unique and every is perfectly placed for me. Recovering from eating and exercising issues this is what I always need a reminder of.
This workout was intense for this 69 year old body, but I loved the break from the world. Thank you Adriene.
Been doing a daily yoga practice since the beginning of the year and the amount of growth in my core strength is insane! I definitely struggled today but I was able to hold the side planks for a few seconds and only cursed Adrienne out in my head once lol Day 1 I don’t know if I wouldve even attempted this practice so Im excited to keep seeing growth
