Plenty of videos on UA-cam about making milk kefir. You get lots of whey when you let it ferment for too long! However I’ve just found another way of making whey. I was making cream cheese simply by straining yoghurt through a cheesecloth. This produced far more whey than I expected.

    • @margaretgibbs1007
      @margaretgibbs1007 3 місяці тому

I’ve just found again the instructions for making the cream cheese - it is on a channel called Mary’s Nest - one ingredient cream cheese making. This is a lot easier to do than making kefir.

Dr. Abs, I really was excited to see this post, as I do often use a protein powder, with the goal of gaining muscle. I use a powder called 'Naked Whey' (unflavored) which claims to have only one ingredient (Whey Protein Concentrate) and is from 100% Grass-Fed Cows.

The scoops are ginormous so if you’re a normal human being with normal scoops left over from other jars that don’t have the three times the size scoops that they do. You could just use that and get 10 g each time or 15. Of course if you’re in an unlimited budget go for.

Hi Abs! There is a brand that I’ve used for years which comes in numerous different formats to suit the individual. Organic Whey Protein Concentrate by ‘Pink Sun’ is certified organic, made only from grass fed whey with no nasties or fillers or emulsifiers (which is why they suggest using a blender but your mixer bottle will be fine). They do 3x 1 Kg packs for £77.85 and they’re based in England 😍
They also supply a protein powder that’s made from sheep and goat milk. This might be more suitable for individuals that are sensitive to A1 casein that do better on A2.

If anyone is wondering how? they throw away large amounts of suet 20-80kg depending on the week and I cut off any bits of meat left stuck on the fat and probably be 10% of the fat by weight and it's enough to feed 3 people in my family for the whole week, especially since most of us eat a single meal a day not because we want to but because of satiety ever since going keto, carnivore or lion diet depending who in the family.

Instead of the whey protein, think of this..
I understand the reasons you choose to take occasionally a whey powder, but!!! I can suggest a better idea.
You can purchase a food dehydrator machine and prepare at home a beef jerky or even make a homemade pemmican. Buying the carnivore bar, the one with no carbs in is also am option, but a more expensive one.

I never understand this issue of soy and hormones, etc. The info is so confusing.
You could explain why you use whey protein instead of others, e,g, organic pea protein.
My assumption was that this type of product was not good for the liver if you take it daily since it is highly processed. I stopped having protein powder after my daily gym session; I never knew if it was good or bad. Online info is so confusing. ARGH

Could you make a video about raw milk? I’m seeing a lot of obscure claims regarding it, especially the assertion that you supposedly cannot contract a bacterial infection from it.
This is repeatedly claimed in some spaces, even though I can definitively prove that I contracted a Campylobacter infection from raw milk. It’s also often said that the pasteurization process destroys all vitamins/nutrients, making the consumption of milk pointless or even harmful...
Honestly, I have significant doubts about that and find it not credible. Perhaps you could delve into this topic in more detail?
Here in Germany, we have something called Demeter milk.
Demeter milk is produced according to biodynamic farming standards, which go beyond organic requirements. It follows strict guidelines regarding animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and holistic farming practices.
The cows are typically fed organic, natural fodder, and the milk is minimally processed to retain as many nutrients as possible. Unlike raw milk, Demeter milk is typically pasteurized but not homogenized, preserving a more natural cream layer.
Demeter milk is typically pasteurized at a temperature of around 72 to 75 degrees Celsius, which corresponds to the traditional pasteurization method. The milk is heated for approximately 15 to 30 seconds to kill harmful microorganisms without significantly altering its nutrients and flavor.
Demeter emphasizes gentle processing methods to preserve the natural quality of the milk as much as possible.
Now wouldn’t that be the absolute best option to consume?

No one in America says you can't contact a bacterial infection from raw milk. It is an objective fact that this is possible. It is extremely rare, but possible. Most food borne illness in the US comes from vegetables like lettuce. No matter how gently milk is pasteurized, the process destroys important properties such as digestive enzymes and beneficial microorganisms. It alters the proteins and destroys vitamins.

Not true if it’s whole milk or raw milk. stop drinking semi skimmed, you need the full fat milk.

From what I’m aware the biggest difference in unpasteurized milk is you haven’t killed off the bacteria fermenting the milk, which actually use the lactose for their metabolic process so they help you digest the milk better

There are better alternatives, maybe you just haven't tried them. Also grass-fed Whey (WPI), minimal ingredients like you explained here, smaller scoop size (33g) per serving, higher protein per serving ratio, MUCH better essential/non-essential amino acids etc. You would have been better off using this particular brand as a case study and what to look for, not as a recommendation.

all protein drinks taste crap. I just bought Maxi, for the 1st time, Banoffee, boy, it tastes so good, which is bad, for me, since, I'm semi-lactose intolerant, so can't drink too much of it with milk.
